Fix it so S/P thieves stop evading on pistol whip. it’s been like this since release and its dumb.

Its same thing as the warrior steal skill and I think the thief ultimate blade throwing skill.

As a D/P thief, I find it annoying I can’t headshot these skills. The thief elite might just be due to stability though, i haven’t tested bountiful theft steal -> interrupt yet

Yes these are bugs and they should be fixed even though it would be a “nerf” for some thieves

Shadowshot
The problem was reported several times, it roots you at the location of the target for swing animation for about1/4 second. This ability was created as a gap closer and suppose to be a great for chasing enemies. However, it misses the swing every time when you chase someone because at the moment you the character swings a dagger enemy is at unreachable distance. I see 2 solutions for that:
1. Remove the root while the swing animation goes, so you can actually move to the target for hit. It will add mobility.
2. Make it so the shot will immobilize the enemy for 1/4 seconds, so he will not run at the safe distance and you will not miss a dagger swing after you have closed the gap.

Go 5 into acrobatics and evade into your target after shadowshot. I don’t even think you need to get 5 into acrobatics even for this to work

Also make it so backstab targets only your target if available. Right now its blindfire for no reason. No I don’t want to backstab a clone when I have the mesmer targeted but the clone is standing right next to him. This kind of stuff leads to frustration because your decision making is basically shut down by RNG unit pathing

It doesn’t stop heals, some heals are instant. It stops 1 shot combo on allies, revives, stomps and casts which can be a heal.
Is Head Shot worth it to use the initiative to prvent a revive? rarely, if you have an AoE option like D/D, S/D or Shortbow it is better just to AoE damage the downed player and the person who is reviving him.
Is Head Shot worth it to use the initiative to prevent a stomp? yes, you are preventing the death of your team mate and you can control the stomper for 2-3 sec if you time it right so you get a lot of value out of your initiatve.
Is Head Shot worth it to use the initiative to DELAY a cast, since the cooldown won’t be triggered? rarely, I haven’t experienced many situations in which the target has a certain health value which demanded me to interrupt his heal with a Head Shot instead of just finishing him with Unload before the heal cast time would be over.
Is Head Shot worth it to use the initiative to prevent your ally from getting 1 shotted by quickness Pistol Whip or Hunderd Blades? if they have a stunbreaker or evade ready for immob? no. If they don’t? yes.
Head Shot has its uses, but it is not good enough to compete.

I agree headshot is useless but only when using PP set up. Headshot is without a doubt the best interrupt in the game but PP is so bad that it makes headshot just a waste of initiative just like unload

If you think its a bad skill, I think you just don’t know how to manage initiative or you’re too slow to use HS / you don’t delay your lotus strike to get the HS in on an incoming skill you can predict

Dagger/Pistol: Ridiculously Awesome?

I’ve used dagger pistol since BWE3, the thing with dagger dagger is that it is just doesn’t do anything if you’re being kited by someone (try it 1v1, short bow #1 #3 and #5 flat out counters any dagger OH build)

also initiating on someone with the burst combo at full intiative:

DP

Smoke + HS + Steal = 6 overal cost

DD

CnD + Steal = 6 overall cost

This is simply because Steal doesn’t proc the +3 initiative since you’re already at max initiative until you hit CnD, which comes after the steal. This is only for initiating of course though. Not for actual fights

Overall I think DD and SP thieves are really really 1 dimensional and easy to counter with proper play. Even in closed spaces DP can stand up to DD toe to toe just because of blind and headshot utility

clusterbomb does a lot of damage aoe, there are definitely times to use it outside of keep defense… 2 examples:

mesmer
enemy shadow refuge

you guys should try it out and think about situations before saying its unusable

personally I think the front looks way off but a billion times better than anything I’ve seen anyone else come up with. The back looks really good though, especially with the red and white dye I used
