1) I’d say DH has great burst dps, but sustain is not as good as some other classes. Burn builds are a good alternative to just pure zerker builds.

In all honesty, conditions are sorely needed in raids, but a lot of people have yet to jump ship from the previous zerker build meta, so finding players with pure condition builds can be quite hard (in my experience at least). In that regard, it might be better to go for a condition build.

But, most importantly, choose what’s fun for you. Conditions aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but if you find them fun, that’s great. Burn guards can work in any game mode so you won’t be left wanting. It’s just a matter of choosing your own personal preference.

What stats should I focus on as a dragonhunter dps guardian? I haven’t touched my guardian for about 2 weeks, but i’ve seen dragonhunter and it looks pretty fun. A few questions though.

1) How’s the guardian dps in general? Good bad? Should I not bother?

2) If it is a good dps, whats the stat priority? Prec? Power? Ferocity?

3) Should I only focus on dps, or should I play dragonhunter as a dps support?

Hi, so recently I’ve started to raid for my guild, I currently have 4 80s and yet to be satisfied with a class. I played my longbow ranger, nice getting crits with rapid fire, but after that you basically do no damage(which i noticed in the raid tonight) My guardian was alright, can’t say I’m a fan of melee characters, I enjoyed leveling him, but something just felt lacking. As for my thief, somehow I thought they were gonna be good in raids, not much to say here, brings only dps but super squish. My engineer was fun, but swapping between 4 kits was just to overwhelming for me. I did level a char warrior back in 2013, which I had an absolute blast because they’re monster dps, however I’ve heard very bad things about warrior in HoT. Anyways, now that I somewhat explained what i’ve played. ( I SAID SOMEWHAT) I’m curious as to what you all think would be viable for raids, and don’t give me that crap that everything is viable because when you get later into the raid it does become very dependent on what you play, including mechanics.

Anyways, here’s my questions.

1) What is a strong dps, while not being cut down so fast? A.K.A has some sort of sustain so the healer doesn’t have to babysit you.

2) Would going 100% tank guardian be viable? All toughness and vitality and just tank the boss?

3) My playstyle is doing good damage, but being able to sustain and provide some kind of support for your raid members if its needed.

Hi, all I have to say is everything you posted about your guild seems so unique, and offers things guilds ignore(the whole community thing.) I’m currently looking for a raiding guild for my ranger, I run a longbow/crit build. I understand the weaknesses of the build so I run certain pets and traits to put out maximum dps. I’m not 100% in ascended gear, but am currently working to get gold to finish up. I’m dedicated and willing to spend hours of dying over and over(hopefully we overcome the boss at some point xD) I’m most available during weekends at best, and around 3:00-8:00 on weekdays. If you won’t accept me because of the gear, It’s totally fine, just say so in the reply, no need to sugar coat it. If you don’t try to keep up the unique community guild feel as you stated you were trying to rebuild, that’s what makes a guild fun and feel like home.

Gonna say this nicest way possible, you really should stop bumping because of the way you wrote what your guild is. When I read that I only could think of it as elitist kittens, who will yell at you if you mess up, expecting to be perfect. I’m assuming that’s why no one has asked to join. You will have better luck recruiting ingame.

Title says it all, I was trying to salvage my Yassith’s Viper chestpiece, however I somehow managed to salvage my ascended bow I JUST made today. I was curious if there was any way to possibly restore the bow? I’ve checked around, most say i’m S.O.L but I just wanted to clarify I support cannot help me with this before I spend another week farming.. Thanks guys!

Will people accept someone who’s not in ascended gear? I only crafted the bow for my ranger, but you only get +5 stats on everything, it’s different for the classes, like engi would need ascended for the extra condition duration, but as a ranger I don’t see any benefit for this tiny difference. I’m a longbow/Gs guy. My issue is if I don’t craft these will people be so strict to not let me into raids? Thanks!

Just so you know, everything is capable of working. The answer to any question on here regarding a class/build asking whether or not something is viable… the answer to it is always going to be yes. The very definition of the word viable is “capable of working.”

If you reword your question to clarify whether or not you’re asking if it’s better comparatvely to a ranger focusing on direct damage, specify what type of content we’re talking here along with any other specifics that we’d need to determine how effective it is including the build you’d be using… then we’d be able to help you.

So, I suggest you elaborate a bit more on what you want for more helpful responses. First of all I can tell you now that longbow camping is terrible DPS regardless of what you’re doing, and that condi ranger has the potential to be very powerful in PvE as it can maintain a high amount of burning stacks. At the same time, direct damage rangers can be strong too but they aren’t camping longbow at all and make use of sword mainhand as their primary weapon.

Just keep in mind it hasn’t been updated yet for HoT, but much of the information on there has not yet been rendered obsolete and can still be helpful for understanding the intricacies of the class. You can also message the author(s) ingame and they would be happy to answer questions.

Until then, there’s not a whole lot we can say other than “yes” or “no.”

Sorry for the lack of info, I wrote half of this and came back to it, I guess I thought I completed it. I’m focusing on PvE. More specifically raids. By better dps, I suppose you already answered that with the fact short bow is good burning if used right. For shortbow, is there a certain amount of condition duration I should go for? And should stat priority be in this order? . . . Power-Precision-Condition Damage. And would Yassith’s Viper set be good enough? With a mix of sinister?

I ask this because It was a huge thing back in 2013(got back to the game about a week ago, still learning whats good and whats bad now) I’ve been playing my engi a lot recently, but the issue I have with the class is constant swapping between 4 things. However I just completed ascended viper set. Is longbow or condi better in terms of dps? I liked longbow back then, but shortbow seemed like the go to for a ranger. Thanks guys!

I’m trying to figure this all out in my head, I know having a full armor set of 6 pieces of Yassith’s viper gear will give me 13.8%, and having some food will give me 20%. My biggest question is, should I sacrifice whatever stats necessary to reach 100% condition duration? Is it that important? If so . . .having sigils for my weapons, and the others i posted above, I’ll have a solid 50.8% condition duration, how would I reach the other 50%? Or maybe I’m being plain dumb and you can’t get 100%. But I’ve heard reaching the max is the way to go. Sorry if this post was kinda sloppy, If you have anything to say I’ll respond to clear some things up =D.

PS: I’m a condi engineer.

Is there a viable build that doesn’t require you to switch through every kit you own? Maybe a power/prec rifle? I like condi engi, but swapping through every kit to even do damage is a bit annoying. Thoughts?

Title really says it all, this is the one mmo where I can’t seem to find the class that screams “I’m your main” I’ve played warrior, engi, guardian, and thief all to lvl 80. I’ve played ranger to lvl 70, but it was far to easy and boring. I guess to me there’s really no class that stands out from the others honestly. So share your story, why did you choose the class you main? Whether it was from another game, you like pets, swords, etc. I’d love to see how you guys chose your classes. =D

Just curious as to when this shows up, I played back in 2013, you’d basically have a month to complete several tasks. But I have yet to receive my monthly to do this month, has anyone else had this issue? Is it normal?

Title says it all, I’m working toward ascended on my condi engineer, but if I buy everything it’s about 1500-1700g. I would farm the mats, but god knows that farming a specific mat in this game and getting a decent amount of it is a joke. So what i’m asking is how did you farm your gear?

Hey all, been playing a few classes, got my guardian to 80, didn’t hate it, but its a support. I’ve been playing my thief at 80 for about a week, I love stealth classes, but the way gw2 handled the “Rogue” didn’t satisfy me. I played my warrior, honestly enjoyed him(I played him at 2013, he was my first 80, lost my account though so I didn’t want to level another.)

My main point is, what’s the best dps class? I’ll tell you some things I enjoy in a class to help you help me =D.

I enjoy seeing big numbers, big crits are always nice to see, while I do enjoy being a very strong dps, I don’t want to die instantly, and be drained of my hp very quickly. I’m somewhat of a solo player, I enjoy running around doing my own thing, but I do enjoy joining up with my guild to do some events.

I sorta wanted to roll a engineer, as in 2013 it was my very first class, but I’m not sure how p/p would do in terms of damage. Anyways, I hope the info I gave was somewhat helpful, It’s kinda all over the place, but thank you whoever helps me in advance =).

I’ve got about 33 clovers for my legendary, I did sw for a bit, but i only get a 1-10 shards every 70 chests or so. What’s the best way you recommend?

So um yea, going for incinerator and I need about 600k karma, how’d you farm that much?

I’m curious as to if you get a bonus effect, glow, shine, etc. if you wield 2 incinerators at once? or no? I’m thinking about going for 2 incinerators but after seeing ascended has the same stats, it would be silly to go for 2 legendarys when you only need 1 for skins, right??

I’ve tried almost everything I can do on my own, I’ve tried farming for t6 mats, i’ve tried farming sw, farmed events, etc. I heard fractals can net you some good gold, issue is I’m in high school with a job, so It’s hard to do anything that requires a lot of hours that I can’t exit whenever. I’ve only been able to make about 5-10g a hour doing random things, but then I hear people have 100s and 1000s of gold, so I feel like what I’m doing is unproductive. What I’m trying to get to here is, what’s the best way you can think of that would net some good gold? I personally don’t mind doing boring farming as long as it’s viable. I’m a thief trying to get dual dagger legendaries, but that’s super expensive so I need gold. Hi, so I’ve been thinking about going for ascended gear, been looking up some ways to get 6 pieces. (chest helm shoulder etc.) People say it costs about 50g to get one piece, I have no issue paying that but my question is how do you buy the gear? The only thing that requires to make them is mats that you cant buy, so how are people paying 50g to get a piece? I’m asking this because i’d much rather pay gold then spend a few months gathering materials. Thanks guys!

The title says it all, some people say just quest, but this is my 5th character I’m working on for 80, and i’m officially burnt out on the questing areas now. My thief is currently level 20, what would be the fastest way to get him to 80? And whatever method you mention, how long may it take? Thanks guys!

I ask this because I love making money, I don’t know why but I enjoy farming mobs while watching Netflix and other stuff. But what class would you say is most effective? I was looking at thief, but they seem a bit more of a pvp class than pve. Thoughts?

Sounds like you need to spend you mastery point to unlock the mastery line you are on

Open up the mastery menu (click on the xp bar is quickest) and click on the unlock button next to the mastery which is full of xp (at this point it is probably gliding level 1)

Question my leveling progress stopped for masteries, i’m a level 0 mastery and 635,000/635,000. One of my guildies said you need to choose a mastery, but I don’t know how to, I only found “do this mission to unlock mastery tracks” Thanks guys and sorry for the dumb question.

Hi, so for the past week I’ve had a movement glitch, any time i go in combat, my guy just sometimes stops walking. Before you say anything, i’ve played the game for years, so i know about stuns and those other things. I was just wondering if there is any way to fix this, being a pvp player this is a game breaking issue. Any time I run into combat my guy sometimes decides he wants to stop. Help

Hey all, just rolled a guardian but I’m curious about something, on a scale of one to ten, how bad is guardian dps with a sword shield or mace shield? Thing is, I’m really into sword and board, but I’m worried the dps will be terrible, it’s certaintly slow at low levels, but at higher levels you can adjust a class to do crazy things. Anyways, my main question is, If you thought of a build, ran specific things, would a sword and board guardian be alright? I’d mainly farm mobs for items, do some wvw at times, and maybe some pve here and there. Sorry if this was kinda all over the place, only my second time actually posting on gw2 forums despite playing the game for years. Thanks guys!

Hey all, been about 2 years last since I played guild wars 2, I’ve bought a new copy of gw2 because I couldn’t recover my old one. Anyways, I was wondering what is a good server for pve, mainly group events, dungeons(or w.e you call them) and questing, I’m personally not a real big fan of pvp or world pvp. Based off these 3 things what server would be best? I also don’t mind crowded servers, the more people I see, the more friends I make. Thanks guys!
