Imagine a quaggan doing that dagger 3 skill… yeah, sorry, but it aint gonn’ work >.<
Norns can do it.
Why not quaggan?
12 Rares = 1 Named Exotic (“Combustion”)
Got pretty excited, kinda sad it didn’t sell for much (1g 80s). Still a profit though, barely.
Hopefully Anet comes to their senses after (if they do) reading this thread. Obviously not everyone is for the backstab nerf, and any others they are considering including.
Whilst they do listen to their community, which is amazing, I don’t agree with listening to the influx of QQers. If every player were to cry over something, we’d get it, no matter what it is. I feel like this is the case we’re experiencing right now.
Perhaps we should all cry for 1 gem : 2 gold ratios from now?
Overall damage nerf, no.
Same damage but more difficult to execute or easier to avoid/counter, yes.
I completely agree with you there.
That’s perhaps what the devs are thinking as well, but the question is; How?
Quoted from a Game Dev earlier on the supposed ‘Backstab’ OP-ness:
“Just wanted you guys to know we’re looking at this specifically right now. We will probably bring down the raw spike DPS for some builds, but we’ll be careful to increase other areas to compensate.”
(this is not intended as a call out nor insult, just a topic of discussion)
Does anyone else disagree with this? Thieves don’t need yet another nerf in my opinion. Any form of ‘OP thief’ is a one trick pony. Take that trick away from them, and you’re basically beating a dead horse.
Discuss maturely please.
Sorry to steal the spotlight OP, but while this is on topic, what is the 200k+ Karma needed for anyway?
I’ve got an almost full-exotic (only shortbow needed) 80 thief and I’ve never once understood the need for that much karma. Or what it’s even used for.
Sounds more like an ‘Impair’ than a ‘Steal’.
Steal actually steals a skill from the enemy, hence the name. The damage is just situational, depending on the build used.
Oh alright. Thanks buddy
I haven’t actually seen a clear indication on how to get it. Can anyone tell me?
I’m talking about the (skimpy) leather medium armor, for clarification.
If there’s a niche market profit margin, the people who know it won’t tell you about it. You’ll just have to compile your own data based off TP prices of components and what you can make.
I personally thought that was too much work, so I don’t aim to profit with my crafting. It’s just convenient to make stuff when I want it.
I noticed that, but I’m hoping someone can throw a few pointers my way. Being level 80 is all about money and farming for gear.
I’ve got gear, just not money.
I’m a level 80 with 400 jewelcrafting (also 400 l/w). I have no idea how to make profit using my crafting professions. I noticed i can make ruby rings and sell them for about 10 silver profit, providing I wait long enough.
Is there a specific way to make money using your professions or is that all there is to it? Small profit by small profit.
Good luck, and have fun mentlegen.
‘Flew’ probably means his ‘Steal’ move. The F1 ability.
And the rest was probably just your average backstab build.
Sounds pretty good. I’ll have to give it a go
Traps will never be viable due to their lack of ground coverage.
It may work in PvE where NPCs can be lured into them, but in a sPvP or W3 environment, there’s too much ground coverage for them to be useful and they’re not exactly mobile.
Haste is terrible in a backstab build. Your combo should be hitting someone in the span of 2 seconds already, and half the time without them knowing.
Could you recommend a replacement? I’m not too sure what to be using instead.
I’ve never been a fan of refuge but the speed buff used to be in place of the U3.
Hey guys. Just wondering if I could get some constructive criticism on my adaption of the backstab thief build. So yeah, here goes:
Gear: Full Beserker’s (precision, power, crit damage%)
Utility 1: Assassin’s Signet
Utility 2: Haste
Utility 3: Infiltrator’s Signet
Elite: Basilisk Venom
Reasoning:
U1: Okay, so Utility 1 is an obvious choice. Activate before combo, then of course, wreck face.
U2: Utility 2 is a personal preference as I feel like the speed of which I ‘drop’ people isn’t quick enough (may be due to player skill, computer is quite bad which results in delayed combo). I usually pop haste either at the start of my combo to guarantee a quick kill if they’re not full HP, or at the end of it, switch to bow, then just bow them down.
U3: I like to use U3 because I’ve noticed, some experienced players know to roll away if they get the chance. This allows me to catch back up to them instantly and proceed to melee them. I feel like it’s much more versatile in it’s usage than the Devourer Venom as well.
Elite: Staple backstab build skill.
Okay, feel free to discuss. If you could suggest a replacement skill or perhaps fix up my combo, that’d be awesome. Especially if you can provide reasoning. Thanks for your time.
Assassin’s Signet
Haste
Steal
Cloak and Dagger
Backstab
Heartseeker (if need be) OR Bow auto-attack
I wrote a fairly comprehensive endgame gearing guide you may find worth a read: http://dulfy.net/2012/10/03/gw2-endgame-gearing-guide/
Insanely helpful, thank you.
That did explain a lot to me however, I am still curious about a few other things like:
-Do all the dungeon-earned gear sets have the same stats? (Such as a CoF set1 having equal states to a CoE set1)
-How to start making profit to afford exotics, etc. (I assume farming.. lots).
About to hit 80 with my Thief. No idea what to do when I hit it. Any suggestions on how to get started on gearing my character?
Some background info:
-Never done a dungeon before
-400 LW / 400 JC
-First character (obviously)
I thought that maybe farming a dungeon is the ideal choice but I don’t know how viable it is or if it’s even worth doing considering I pre-planned level 80 Exotic gear (note: that i don’t have the money for).
Any constructive advice is more than welcomed. Thanks for your time
