alright… if they can’t figure this out, then i’m going to have a big problem. This has to happen soon, kitten cider and kitten transgaming! I’m a costumer and i’m am NOT satisfied with my half assly done product! At first i was ok with some game crashes here and there. But when i can’t move more than 10 yards in lions arch without the game crashing twice in 20 minutes, then this is beyond a kitten joke. I’ve now had 32 GAME CRASHES SENSE DEC 26TH ‘12. I’m sick of this emulator/wrapper bullkitten. If your going to do a kitten Mac version, do it kitten right. We paid for this game same as the pc users. So dropping mac support entirely will crush this game, that’s not an option because i know at least 100,000 peeps are probably playing this on a iMac or Mac pro. But i’ve had it with this kitten now, its kittening ruining my game experience. If ESO is ever free to play at all, and ANet still does not have a kitten working version of GW2 i’m done. You have our money, NOW GIVE US A GAME THAT WORKS!! ESO is doing it so it can’t be kittening impossible like coding a pc game for a ps3 console (i’m looking at you, you lazy kitteners and bethesda, and I LOVE MORROWIND) end of rant. But my patients is gone now.

@Aigisthos,
Thanks for this post. I will be getting in those support tickets as soon as I can, and any information that might help them. I would suggest anytime that anyone makes a post here in the forums that they quote and/or link this thread so that others know to make a support ticket (maybe also where to do that), so that we can get this Mac client the best it can be.

@Hollow,
Are you wondering how to create the file that will have your spec system, or how to attach to the support ticket?

edit This thread might help a bit on the attachment question https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/mac/Submitting-a-Support-Ticket-for-the-Mac-Beta-Client

how to attach it to the support ticket in game.

Please understand that as the client is in beta all Mac users are simply testers and without getting the required information on bugs/issues it will take longer for the issue to be resolved. As the issues are resolved, fixes will be pushed to the client with future updates. Please understand that ArenaNet is working hard to get these issues resolved and is not going to push a fix that may not work._

While that news is quit disappointing too read, and begs the question, like lilsteele staid, why provide a mac tech client support forum in that case. I am very happy to read this particular part. THIS means that they are not actually ignoring us, or the mac beta client at all, and are making a point to make good, working fixes for glitches and bugs reported in game. It makes a bit of sense, you can provide all the info, including the area, the task, detailed info and even the screen shot of the area. makes me want to do more in game report submits.

I’ve done about 3 already but i’ve never gotten any reply back. i don’t know how to attach the saved file of my system specs

I got two more crashes last night. I think that puts me at 21 total crashes sense December 26th 2012.

27-inch, Mid 2011
Processor 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB
Software OS X 10.8.2 (12C60)

That’s my beast. Has anybody else has over 10-15 game crashes now? The last one, last night, actually made the os shut down and restart. So that’s when i went too bed. That’s the 3rd time its made the whole system restart too.

Go to system preferences, then to security and privacy section, and in the allow applications to download from part just temporarily check from anywhere and then download and install the app. After, just recheck from Mac App Store and trusted developers.

i forget things like this all the time. I don’t know if i knew about this security detail or not, but thank you for the info. I feel so noob now lol. But this background app is awesome!! its going to make the game and listening to my music even MORE enjoyable! SCORE

well, besides the game going nucking futts on me and making my comp crash 3 times and the screen going rainbow twice. I noticed a 5-8 fps increase overrall. it obviously depends on the graphics settings as well. But then i also noticed more options in the graphics settings too for some reason.

Bump, because they should just do a kittening native client. I don’t care if ITS still in beta. But I have a kittenING BEAST comp and i just did the VRam tweek. and my game just crashed 4 times and my comp 2. This is just not funny. This game is great, and a lot of people i meet, not including this thread, are playing on retina MBP or iMacs (mostly MBP) so i see it as a missed opportunity with other studios doing more mac osx support. I even signed up for ESO beta because it was available for mac osx.

You can just edit that, yes. Be sure when you save that you have ‘show file extension’ checked and that there’s no .txt in the filename.

I just ended up doing it that way. found Vram and the other corresponding to the txt file on this thread and copied and pasted the number straight across. The file will save when i close it right?

You can retain at least partial functionality of your media keys and only change the behavior of *some f-keys with an app like FunctionFlip.
With that app, you can define that only the special functions of f1 to f4 are disabled, which leaves your media and volume controls intact.

this is in the app store? I want this right now.

Thank you for posting the tweak file as I saw in increase of 10+ fps & smoother gameplay. FPS on max setting is close 43+ fps, but usually set things to medium for 65+ fps. Usually play the game in windowed mode.

The default:
“VideoRam” = “128”
“AGPVertexRam” = “64”

Increased to:
“VideoRam” = “1024”
“AGPVertexRam” = “512”

Using Macbook Po late Oct 2011 with 17’, 8GB mem. HD 3000 & ATI 6770.

I find it very odd that the default was set so low at first. Oh-well, I’m happier now with the change.

I found this file. can i just put that number into the config file itself, for what my Vram is, its 2048 so i’d have to figure out what half of that is. 1024 i guess? because downloading the txt isn’t working for me. Also, very sorry for spamming the crap out of this thread. My sincerest apologies

sorry, shadows is what i meant. But sampling and reflections doesn’t seem to make too much diff. And, pardon me let me clarify. I can find the library folder now, and can navigate too the application support folder, but i cannot find guild wars 2 for some reason. and which config file would I even use. I have no idea what the numbers to the right refer too.

Hello guys!

Lately you may have seen some config tweaks floating around, and I’ve decided to preconfigure files for different VRAM sizes. With these settings I am getting better performance.

Simply download the config file utilizing your VRAM size, rename it to “config” and overwrite the version found at “/Users/username/Library/Application Support/Guild Wars 2”.

The last part i cannot find. and i don’t know which Config to copy and paste :/ I’d really like to turn the LOD distance and shading up and get 30 fps or over, but i can’t. and having the amd radeon 6970 hd m its really lame!

Mess what up? If it doesn’t work you can dump the whole Guild Wars 2 folder in the trash and the game will build a new one for you.

I don’t know which one to use, or where to copy and paste it.

The thing is, if there’s a high adoption rate for the Cider version, I wonder if Arenanet interprets that as “good enough, let’s keep it that way” or rather “there’s enough of a demand for a real OSX version” …?

Lets hope, for all of ours sakes… that its the later. Rather than the former. Otherwise Anet are seriously underestimating the support coming from our consumer base.

I’m very happy to see so many users who wants a better beta updates or native client!

While we wait try this for better performance:

-Go to Library/Application Support/Guild Wars 2
-Edit config file with TextEdit
-Find this

[x11drv]
"AllocSystemColors" = "100"
"CopyDefaultColors" = "0"
"PrivateColorMap" = "N"
"PerfectGraphics" = "N"
"Managed" = "Y"
"Desktop" = "No"
"UseDGA" = "N"
"UseXShm" = "Y"
"DXGrab" = "Y"
"UseXVidMode" = "Y"
"UseXRandR" = "N"
"DesktopDoubleBuffered" = "Y"
"TextCP" = "0"
"VideoRam" = "256"
"AGPVertexRam" = "128"

-Put your VRAM value (MB) in “VideoRam” = “xxx”
-Put the half of your VRAM in “AGPVertexRam” = “xxx”

Enjoy more fps and boost gfx Probably you need to do it/check every patch.

ok, how the hell do you do this? I’m sure i’ll mess something up.

The beta open for ESO two days ago and it is available for both windows and mac osx. I don’t know if they are just already using the Cider engine. But I’ve been through the signup already!
As far as mac beta updates. I’m still getting crashes about 3 times a week. And this funny little thing where I’ll go to move, on any hero, the animation goes a half step and then freezes completely. Hero won’t move unless you tap the botton again. Anybody else get this?

I want a Native OS X client please. I am a dedicated gamer. And contrary to other opinions, I think this being in the app store would get more mac downloads. The fact that it wouldn’t be running in a ‘simulator’ would make a huge difference. I’m on a 2011 iMac kitten out on all except the hhd because i got the ssd and i don’t get above 30 fps.
