Bootcamp simply means you install Windows on your Mac and boot into it. A Mac is a PC.
The game will run well, if your hardware is good. For example, I have an iMac with i7 processor (quad), 1 GB video card and 32 GB RAM. The game runs perfect, 60+ FPS all settings to the maximum, using the CIDER wrapper (also known as Mac Client ‘Beta’).
ok, so why can’t I. my specs are below…
27-inch, 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB, OS X 10.8.2
I just had two game crashes after not playing for 3 days and updating. The last one made my comp restart. kitten man!!
27-inch, 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB, OS X 10.8.2
well. i payed for a game. so i’d like what i payed for. I can play decently, but its beta. Many Mac users are having far worse problems than i am. I am going to be playing LoL tonight, because they were finally able to do it. It is also beta though.
27-inch, 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB, OS X 10.8.2
its always worked for me. But i used the default ~ key. Did you remap your keybinding?
27-inch, 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB, OS X 10.8.2
Now how would you feel if you were paying 15 dollars a month for it? Sorry to hear you go. But I have tweeked my graphics settings and i can get a decent 30 fps sometimes in most areas. Hopefully it works out.
27-inch, 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB, OS X 10.8.2
Other than some minor heat issues, which are next to none. There is NOT one kitten thing wrong with playing games on a mac. So stop trying to make up some stupid software or hardware reasons why there are! OTHERWISE WoW would have never run just fine on my iMac (wasn’t paying for it) and LoL wouldn’t have just released a mac version, OR ESO wouldn’t have a native beta client. C’mon, just stop already.
27-inch, 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB, OS X 10.8.2
after reading all this i thought that anet has already made a native client for mac, but now i understand i don’t have to settle for low graphics or mid i can get more out of my mac for gw2, and ever since i made the switch from wow to guildwars 2 i have been enjoying it, its a very beautiful world very vast and the art work is great love the fact that a lot of small details are presentable and that the game is constantly being updated to give it a feel of change, once this game is optimized for mac computers i can enjoy this wonderful work to its fullest.
Most mac can only push out low – mid graphics, even if it was optimize. You will have to settle because Mac do not come with powerful graphic cards. At full settings, at night you feel like your dreaming a bit
not sure what mac’s your used too. but I’m currently getting 30 fps and i have most of the graphics setting all the way up. So no, ‘most macs’ won’t just push lower end graphics.
27-inch, 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB, OS X 10.8.2

Delete the folder again, but this time don’t copy the config file. Run the app and let it recreate the config. If the game runs, close it down and re-edit your config file.
this is… EXACTLY, what i did. You cannot change the game config file until after you’ve tried to relaunch the game, AFTER deleting the file folder.
27-inch, 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB, OS X 10.8.2
Signed for native client.
I came here hoping to find suggestions on how to boost performance, but now I’m just sad.
So far deleting the GW2 folder from application support and immediate doing the Vram tweak worked wonders for me. But yeah, I hope for a native client, but I’m not expecting it just based from what i’ve read.
What is this Vram tweak you speak of? Tell me of this sorcery
there is a thread on it somewhere on the forum. can’t be to old. called Config file tweak or something like that. I’d explain it but, well i’m dumb.
27-inch, 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB, OS X 10.8.2
I actually use Magician. It has a bunch of cool little features, and some really useless and dumb ones. But one of them is a direct fan control of the HDD and the CPU and GPU. problem is I don’t know what the ODD fan is for. But you crank your up too 6200? is that for the cpu? i put mine at 1800, because 2000 seemed a bit excessive, then again i have absolutely nothing to base this off of. In put and tips are always welcome.
27-inch, 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB, OS X 10.8.2
I had been getting this error message more than a few times when my game crashed. But I did the whole Deleting the GW2 folder from the app support folder. Have not had any crashes sense, true story.
27-inch, 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB, OS X 10.8.2
so i need to turn the fans up in my iMac to keep the Cpu from getting over 135* while i’m playing.
27-inch, 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB, OS X 10.8.2
yes, sense doing this. Save for a bit of lag in some areas. I’ve even turned all of the graphics settings up, except the screen sampling for resolution. Two days of gaming for about 2 1/2 too 3 hours ish, with breaks. NO CRASHES, not one. Thanks again Vince i love you… no kitten
27-inch, 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB, OS X 10.8.2
I HIGHLY recommend checking out the VRam memory Config Tweak, and right before that checking the ‘Game won’t start, try this’, that one walks you through deleting the GW2 folder from the application support folder in the library. Do the later, and then do the former, and before you do this make sure you’ve completely quite and excited out of the game. I did this and, I have had a bit of lag in spots, but its improved DRAMATICALLY. no crashes, where before, post 02/21/13 update i was having as many crashes as you. It had ruined the game for me
27-inch, 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB, OS X 10.8.2

not to argue. but sense doing this, deleting the guild wars 2 folder from the application support folder in the library, I have not had any game crashes… at all. I’m honestly a weh bit surprised because of how many i was getting before. But yeah, I did this, then immediately did the Vram tweak from the game config tweaks. and so far having so problems. Thanks for the tip Vince, its worked amazingly for me!
27-inch, 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB, OS X 10.8.2
I deleted the GW2 folder from the application support folder, After completely quitting the game. Emptied the trash and did a quick clean of the system. Seems to have worked for me. I’ve been playing for an hour today. where as the day after the new update I couldn’t play for more than 20 minutes without a crash.
27-inch, 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB, OS X 10.8.2
did you have to copy and paste all of that? I threw my folder in the trash and used magician to do a quick clean on my comp. started the game up and started tweaking graphics settings to make sure i’m getting 30+ fps at least. Seem to be working so far now. If i get more problem i’ll have to end up tried to make the new user profile on my comp to see if that makes a difference. But so far so good after deleting the file folder from app support, I also redid the VRam config tweak as well. Didn’t see a reason not too so.
27-inch, 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB, OS X 10.8.2
I would imagine it would run very well. The only difference the fusion drive should make is the fact that the game itself and all associated files will launch like 3 times faster because, depending on how often you play the game, it would be moved to the SSD and not stay on the HDD. Only thing i can think of is whether or not the nvidia kepler GPU would handle it. i imagine it would though. Unless somebody else knows more, I don’t see any problems you could have.
Other than the obvious fact that your still forcing your iMac, no matter year or model, to read a Window code through a heavy filter just have it on the computer. My comp is a BEAST and i have constant hiccups. but others with less VRam and cheaper GPU’s are not having the same problems as i am.
27-inch, 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB, OS X 10.8.2
why would that make a difference?
27-inch, 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB, OS X 10.8.2
Alright I tossed that GW2 folder mug RIGHT into the trash. I’ll clean the trash out. Run a quick clean on the system, get ma coffee and see if it works. Step one down. Thanks again guys.
27-inch, 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB, OS X 10.8.2
Hollow, there are a few dozen problems with starting or running the game that are somehow related to some data in that folder, and deleting and rebuilding it tends to solve those problems. It’s a procedure with no side effects, so you should at least try it, the worst thing that could happen ist that it won’t solve your problem.
Also try what vince wrote above. On top of that some general maintenance for your system might be helpful too. Have Disk Utility check your file permissions and harddrive, and repair if neccessary.
If you have another volume or an external harddrive, try and install the game on that (fresh install, no copy) and see if it still crashes.
Thanks you guys again for all the help. This has been very frustrating, which because of how many kittens i’ve got is probably obvious by now. But how would i go about making a new Account for the game client? It’s to early, i need some coffee.
27-inch, 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB, OS X 10.8.2
I have experienced 0 crashes of the game in recent months. I’m running on a 2009 Mac Pro with a Radeon 6870 upgrade, so it’s certainly not a “you need better hardware” issue.
Is your iMac overheating?
Part of mine could possibly be my comp overheating. But i have been watching very closely and it never overheat’s often enough to explain this many crashes. And to the other guy, sorry i already forgot your name I was only having about 5-7 game crashes a week or so. but after the last update now i’m getting them as often as you. I can’t get anything done at all. I completely understand your frustration.
27-inch, 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB, OS X 10.8.2
Otherwise, I will be forced to go back to World of Warcraft, which does not lock up my system even on the new MOP expansion.
gods NNOOO!

wait, my game will start. it just is not playable for more than 15 minutes. no matter what i try. will this make a difference?
27-inch, 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB, OS X 10.8.2
Yes, the game will create a new one when you launch it.
well, i knew that. But if those of us that did the config Vram tweak do that and redo it again. What difference does it make? kitten IT, i’ll try anything at this point.
Note: posted right after ‘3 dozen + crashes’ thread started.
27-inch, 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB, OS X 10.8.2
5 game crashes today sense they did the maintenance update. I REALLY hope that no other osx users are having this much frustration. I feel like my game experience is ruined. i’ve tried to play 3 times today and have had 5 game crashes in a total of 1 and 1/2 hours of game time. As a paying customer, because i had to buy the cd key. I’m so beyond unsatisfied right now. I feel robbed honestly. I mean over 25 game crashes was one thing. But now that i’m almost to kittenING 40 game crashes. which have forced restarted my computer 4 TIMES! I under stand events not working correctly, timing between them not being exact on, bugs and glitches all over. I mean i’m an elder scrolls player, i can embrace bugs and glitches. But these game crashes are NOT BETA, this is alpha bullkitten and we, as paying customers should not have to put up with this. If they want to have us, pay for a game for our computers, this SHOULD WORK. This was THEIR idea. We’ve paid, NOW GIVE US WHAT WE’VE PAID FOR. At least a WORKING kittening beta. My beta is broken, officially.
Edit: attached is a Grab of the last pop up error message after game crashed

well what ever worthless maintenance they did just made my game kitten unplayable. I don’t give a kitten what the problem is or isn’t at this point, I don’t even what to hear an excuse. I want it fixed and i want it FIXED NOW! I’m am so kitten sick of expecting people to do what they are paid for and then get NOTHING. I feel as if i’ve been slapped in the face, ‘you paid for the game, but IT DOESN’T MATTER! only the ones who bought it for PC MATTER you fool’ I feel like they are trolling me now.

Firstly, it’s Twitter. You were expecting great things to come out of it?
Secondly, you’re missing their joke. You suggested that a “native” Mac client would make thousands of users happy. Arena Net answered, “They already are”, meaning that thousands of Mac people “already are” happy with the current software.
It’s not you who stumped their “vast intelligence.” It’s they who stumped you.
Tip: Get off of Twitter. It’s bad for your language skills.
ProTip: Facebook is worse. And twitter only shows who you follow. Maybe you should try it… because facebook is the most idiotic thing on the internet

When i had my iMac I was playing on bootcamp all the time… there is virtually no game that will run better on MAC so why bother….
I know buy a mac to run Windows make no sense…that’s why i sold it!
Do you know what MMO runs way better than any other MMO on a mac?
WoW.
Why?
BECAUSE IT HAS A NATIVE CLIENT.
EXACLTY, so if the dumb kittening idiots at blizzard can do it and still manage to kitten over the entire gaming base for WoW. Then THE kitten can ANet do it for use and GW2? i call bullkitten.
27-inch, 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB, OS X 10.8.2
So basically, he either knows what the native client is, and is slapping us in the kittening face because they know its not working, so therefore, NOT ALREADY HAPPY users. OR, he indeed, has no idea what ‘native client’ actually is. so, in either cause, he’s either a kittening kitten, or a kittening idiot. in either case, its frustrating, disappointing, and many other words that it wouldn’t let me put here without them being turned into the word ‘kitten’

well, here is why your argument is in valid. number one, we aren’t happy because obviously its not anywhere near native, SO IT RUNS LIKE kitten! two, i don’t think he stumped anybody but a twitter troll. Because it looks like he doesn’t know what Native actually means. and coming from a Dev, well that’s simply idiotic.
