Hey, as you all know lion’s arch is certainly the most visited city.
But i’m not quite a fan of lion’s arch’s center. On the other side, i really like Divinity’s Reach, i think this city is truly amazing.,ANet did such a beautiful work here, and if you guys love the “flower in the butt style” (hey Felicia XD), some of you may prefer the grove, or even another one.
Unfortunately these cities are quite deserted, so it would be nice if all the main cities were connected together so we could always speak with everyone.

I don’t really have any opinion on RNG in general, they surely wouldn’t make the dungeons better or more fun, but beside the tokens maybe a few random rare drops (not necessarily talking about yellow here) could add something to the game. Like “hey, look what i dropped, how cool is that !” instead of “oh, this blue/green crap again, well ..”
At the moment it’s just like nothing is worth the effort.
Just look at the “champion” mobs : why would i spend 5 minutes smashing my head on them ? I see no fun killing them, and no rewards either.
or : The end of the game : Zhaitan …. no comment.
(edited by Hughs.6549)
Maybe I could get a few more tokens to have other skins, but still that wouldn’t be really exciting.
I’m just saying that i pretty much have no reasons to play now which is why i’m posting on forums instead of playing : p
I kinda sense that i’m in a beautiful world, amazing cities, with almost nothing exciting to do. I think many players are in this situation, or will be very soon.
(edited by Hughs.6549)
All i’m asking for is challenge, and some excitement for playing these dungeons. I can’t be more honest than this : p
This, was in Ascalonian catacombs, 5 players explo dungeon. The Huuuuuuuuge blue breath effect comes from only 1 person (guardian).
only 1 ! This is way too much :O
Red Falcon.8257While the point you make is good and I too believe Anet will have to deal with this, you went with extreme exaggerations and sensationalism so this is a lot less likely to get to Anet properly.
Hi, honestly i’m not trying to exagerate anything, It’s a standard doorfight in WvW and a standard group event in Harathi Hinterlands, nothing more. These screenshots don’t come from my imagination. I’ve played the game a lot now, and as a thief, i’m pretty sure that many melee players may feel the same way : )
If you believe that something I said is completely wrong, please be free to argue : )
Am i the only one thinking that there are way to many effects ?
I think this is literally killing the game, or at least, its potential. Don’t get me wrong, the game’s still playable but the way the effects are designed is serously downscaling gw2’s potential to almost 0.
How on earth are we supposed to care about the animations, anticipate moves, dodge properly and most of all execute combos with our teamates. How could this game offer any serious PVE or PVP content ? Most of the time, ennemy players/bosses/mobs/doors are hidden behind this huge ugly mix, this is not fun, or effective.
Another problem is that ennemy skills/animations/effects are very similar (identical..) to the ones player use. So it’s even more confusing, even with the red circles. Imo, the ennemy visual effects should always be different than the friendly ones.
Btw i’m playing a thief, and this is one reason why melee is a total pain compared to ranged.
Finally, the effetcs are nice alone, but they’re not working together, at all. So i’ll just finish with these 3 words that are really important imo… less is more.
And as a picture is worth a thousand words, here’s what i’m talking about :
Chests are dissapointing : / What’s the point killing a <meant to be epic boss> and getting a chest with a few blues/greens/sometimes a rare when you can be full exotics in a few days.
Tokens ? Play for a week, maybe two and tokens become obsolete.
Vermillion HawkAs for stuff to do, why does it always have to be “stuff to do”? Why can’t playing the game itself ever be fun in MMOs?
Why walking in the street i mean in real life, staring at people 24/7 isn’t fun in itself ? because it’s not. Same in gw2.
For me, since the release, I’ve simply been exploring all the various zones in the game, completing them, levelling up and playing events along the way. I’m not even 50% complete yet, and I’m only level 48, but it’s been quite fun. Just wandering around, doing Heart Quests and participating in dynamic events left me with a feeling of Skyrim-esque exploration, and there’s nothing more satisfying than killing a massive boss with a large group of players who’ve come together out of the blue to kill it.
Maybe because we all have already done all that you said ? You’re not 80 yet..
Quests ? all done
Events ? same
Puzzles ? same
Dragons ? they’re lame man, it’s fun the first time, but then /no
Explore ? 100% complete
And i swear i didn’t “rush” or anything.
Evil :the idea of playing the same raid over and over and over and over and over until you get all your gear only so you can start the next one and so on apparently is not “grindy”.
What is gw2 ? grind the same poor designed dungeons again and again and again until you get .. a skin. how’s that better or more fun ? There’s no difficulty, so you’re not even happy to have “beaten” or “accomplished” anything with your teamates.
I don’t get how can someone defend that. really.
“No endgame” folks….what exactly are you looking for? Is it simply better stats or what?
We want challenge. Is it surprising asking for that in a video game ?
And yes, giving to ANet a customer feedback is still more helpful than you saying we’re only Haters.
(edited by Hughs.6549)
“WoW blahblah” as always… anyway :
There’s the thing; you’re “done”. You feel as if you have completed the game already. Because of this “endgame” mentality imposed by the average MMO, you already feel as if the content provided by the game is exhausted. You’re no longer playng for fun since the elements you’re playing, which have comprised the traditional endgame, are not “fun” to you. In this case, examine other things to od in the game and find something fun, or just stop playing. But don’t attribute the lack of fun to the game itself when in reality it is due to the players refusing to let go of the most deep-seated ideologies of “traditional” MMOs.
Then please, tell us, what is it so incredibly fun in GW2 that we could keep doing for months and months again, and again, and again ? I really want to know, and ANet needs to know as well. Because i’m really trying to figure out but .. I can’t.
-> jumping puzzles 100 times ?
-> zerg dungeons with no strategy 5000 times ?
-> Dynamic zergy events “spam AOE fast tag farm” a million times ?
-> Dragons events ? they look amazing, yeah, but that’s it.
-> Farming ALL skins ? (lolz)
-> Hugeeeee grind for legendary skins ? (lolz)
-> Making gold for … no idea ?
-> Beat this epic Zhaitan 10k times ? ( megalolz)
-> Exploring 100% map every months ?
-> Smash our head on doors in WvWvW every day ?
Honestly the most entertaining thing i’ve experienced in gw2 is the Norn’s barrel match mini game.
Please teach me what is the “new fresh ideology” of ANet’s guild wars 2 : Hanging out in a beautiful world with .. nothing to do ?
All of these “negative” threads are actually very constructive since ANet needs to know how the customers feel about their game. Why are we here ? because we care abut the game, because the game has a HUUUUGE potential. We expected a lot about gw2. They promised a lot too … and now it feels like it was a lie.
We’re not hating, we’re trying to help.
You think the game is wonderful and perfect ? fine, your opinion is important !
But so is mine.
(edited by Hughs.6549)
The main problem in gw2 is that playing the game is not rewarding, at all. They’ve designed an amazing world here, wonderful cities except the charr one xD (Divinity’s reach feels so pleasant) but this is not enough to make people wanna keep playing.
Dungeons are not working so well … too easy, no strategy, bosses are boring as hell, and you have to grind in that poor PVE environment for what ? a few skins ?
Players need to feel rewarded for their efforts, they want to be proud when they complete a dungeon and say “YEAAAAHHHHHHH guys well played that was EPIC !” when they complete the very end game. They want their reward (weapon/armor ..) to be pretty rare which makes it more valuable and shiny. (not that stupid huge legendary grind)
GuildWars 2’s end game .. Zhaitan ? big joke, last boss of TA afk mode? cmon … well i don’t know, there’s just no end game. No carrot.
Atm, everything is just .. easy, tasteless. There’s no epic challenge, no epic reward, just .. shallow.
So once you’ve completed the exploration (100% world), explo dungeons, got your easy to get skin, experienced the “oh, a 20 ppl zerg just popped next to me in WvWvW.. i’m dead.”
You’re done.
Suggestion : Add this in the Options menu so we can chose to display our own name if we want to.
EDIT : as zerospin said : Name, guild name, title and the star.
1. Haters : uncheck the option : p
2. Lovers : Check it !
3. Everyone will be happy
-> 100% better, easy to implement, no reasons not to do it.
(edited by Hughs.6549)
Maybe it’s sad, but you guys have to understand something :
No one want to grind over and over through these uninteresting dungeons with “1 ability-no strat-bosses”
Trashs mobs : billions of HP, harder than bosses. EG : 4hounds/Knights ? wayy harder than any boss in TA.
Bosses : No strategy, mostly -avoid red circles fest-
Moreover, the carot (only skins) is not worth the brainless grind, so people want the reward FAST, and move on.
Tbh, can’t really blame them.
Hi Jon.
Let me offer a rebuke.

That is all.
ANet should really look closer at this. Cuz THIS is what the game looks like when you try to look at something bigger than you.
Fanboys, like it or not, this is real and it’s killing the amazing art.
(edited by Hughs.6549)
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Camera-and-FOV-field-of-view
They commented on the FOV.
Additionally we keep it at 75 to maintain the integrity of our art which is also important to us and many of our fans.
Your art is totally screwed by the awful camerawork, you’re aware of that right ?
The worst part is when i try to look up and always have my back in the middle of the screen ruining it and preventing me from enjoying the amazing artwork, landscapes.
Also, the camera zooming in whenever an obstacle (like a tree of something) is in between is freaking irritating, can’t even find words to say how much i hate it.
Jumping puzzles are a constant fight against the camera.
Anet .. You guys created and amazing world so please make it possible for us to see it.
First thing you should do is : FIRST PERSON VIEW
Just have a look at these screenshots.. can’t really enjoy anything currently :
EDIT : 24" LCD screen 1920×1080 resolution
EDIT 2 : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PegX3QH-gy0 – LOL
(edited by Hughs.6549)
+1 to this. i don’t exactly know how or why but the bad camera kinda ruins the visual experience atm which is a shame considering how beautiful the game is.
This and the non-first person view actually prevent me from enjoying the beauty at its max, especially in big fights (dragons) or in very close places like inside houses, it feels like i can’t see anything or enjoy the smooth atmosphere.
Here’s a screenshot in a smooth place, my character in the middle of the screen ruining it, small FOV or i don’t know but something’s wrong, can’t see anything.
(edited by Hughs.6549)
As a thief, this happens a lot to me, like everywhere, usually when i use the F1 “steal” skill.
Now i have a visceral fear of walls lol.
It was funny at first but now it’s quite annoying, cuz this happens A LOT ! And not to mention the teleport to waypoint cost each time.
You owe me a few golds with all these bugs man xD
anyway, fix this please
Thank god someone posted that. Can you please just make Ghastly weapons glow constantly (even if only at night) ?
Shortbow : Glows A LITTLE once every X seconds. I bought it and i feel scammed.
Daggers : They don’t even glow
+ add particles in preview so we know what we’re buying at least.
Please fix it ? make it better for god’s sake skins are the only “end things” we can enjoy so please do it properly… (no offense)
DR they said. XD
Joking apart I think ANet is thinking the wrong way :
- You’re forcing people to play the game the way YOU want it to be played. That’s just not how it works.
- Instead of cutting into people’s fun, try to be inventive
- Don’t punish good players. They should feel rewarded for their efforts (not only with stupid skins)
We can clear one path of TA in like 30min killing EVERYTHING, and you call that “exploit” ?
If your dungeons aren’t interresting/challenging enough, blame yourself, not the players.
Punishing people cuz they’re good is the worst thing you could do and that actually makes the game worse and worse.
And finally : It’s been a month since the game was released and i feel like i have nothing to do anymore, again, skins can’t be an end in itself.
(edited by Hughs.6549)
About First person view : Weird ? Then you should try to see how lovely is the camera with a wall behind you, or in a cave
And oh, let’s try too look closer at anybody else’s armor and let’s see how fun it is, you actually have to be behind him to have a closer look at his chest.
Not to mention screenshots that are a pain in the * if you don’t want your big shoulders in the middle of the screen.
For a game that is all about looks, u know.. that, is weird. :p
The lack of open world pvp makes the game incredibly more shallow.. yeah this is something I really miss in gw2.
“This game is cooperative, not competitive” That’s sad : as we can’t feel any epicness in gw2 dungeons, we can’t feel any “danger” in the open world.
Unfortunately the game isn’t designed for Open world pvp, and I think it was a terrible mistake now that I know what the game feels like.
Too much rainbows and care bears is not necessarily a good thing.
(edited by Hughs.6549)
It’s been asked thousands of times during Beta w/e, and it’s still needed. Just like the first person view
1. Lower teleport prices a bit (“combat inflation blahblah is not relevant since people would probably TP more often if prices were lower”)
2. Increase run speed by 10% and/or improve animation “speed”
3. Remove this “perma slowed as soon as you enter in combat” thing, It’s just the worst thing ever.
4. Mounts ? I like them but I think it just won’t happen.
Basically I think it’s pretty fine the way it is now except we run a bit too slow, which I find very annoying (especially in combat)
(edited by Hughs.6549)
I have to agree that dungeons in gw2 are quite ridiculous … : / It’s like 5 braindead ppl smashing their heads on 10 billions HP bosses with no strategy except trying to avoid red circles on the floor all the time. One word : Uninteresting
Trash pulls </> Bosses balance is awful.
Plus, CC’s are a joke, (10h poison, 10 sec stuns, fears…)
Melee fighters (thieves) are just not meant to be part of this game :
- most of the time can’t see anything since mobs/bosses are hidden under 350 layers of visual effects/particles. Seriously how are we supposed to notice ennemies’ animations if we can’t even see what’s happening behind this crappy fog-smoke-lightening-fire-water-poison ultra ugly mix ? Less is more guys… for god’s sake.
- always taking damage from nowhere so you end up playing 95% of your time with a freaking bow
Thieves are actually 95% ranger wanabe’s and 5% melee. That’s just terrible.
Difficulty ? No, we can clear every dungeons with pick up groups and have nothing to do anymore in 3 weeks.
I’d say Difficulty in gw2 is UNHEALTHY : Dungeons are easy, but they’re so badly designed that they become insanely hard at some points (eg : all that visual effects crap making the game way harder than it actually is for melee fighters but you know, just use a bow and all your problems are gone).
Bugs are normal in a new mmo but here … could fairly rename for Bugwars 2.
And finally, grinding like crazy for … stupid Skins ??? come on where’s the epicness here.
This game has the potential to be a truly awesome game but it’s just not at the moment.
Anyway I hope it will get better, cuz if it doesn’t gw2’s gonna end like SWTOR, in a few months.
GW2 deserves a lot better, cheers ANet.
