Agree with all but point number 3, i think they let you fight just to finish up a 1v1 or whatever so it isnt so sudden that u get kicked out of the map.

You both hit 500 at the same time since you both got at least 1 point at the same time. When both teams hit 500 at the same time the team with more total score wins.

Whats the point? Going with a group of people youve never met with no coordination at all going against coordinated teams of friends / guilds? Get smashed every time isnt fun.
Gettin pretty dam tired of this waiting for 5v5 option so i can actually play the game. 8v8 is just a pathetic zerg fest with no skill required, whoever thought of this idea over at anet should be shot on sight…
Recently i found out you can make glory boosters with consumable tokens at the mystic forge (duh right?), and i also noticed that you can use 2 slivers, 2 other arcane ingredients and a consumable token to make a different consumable. I dont have the cajones to try it myself because slivers are quite rare. Anyone know what it gives?
As said, the forums are the vocal MINORITY. All of the crying that’s going on is actually the minority. How is this? Because, most of the rest of us that see that the ele don’t bother posting about it.
Skoodles, if you’re talking about your auto-attack, no profession is auto-attacking for 100 per hit at level 2. Also, we have a lot of conditions that let us not need to hit as hard since we then hit a lot thereafter.
Im Too Godlike, your name says a lot about you to begin with. Reaching X rank in SPvP doesn’t really mean much of anything other than you spend a lot of time playing. It doesn’t reflect your skill. You could play 100 matches a day, get your backside handed to you, and still gain enough glory from being with a bunch of players better than you to have a high rank.

And you probably think they are fine because you haven’t reach rank 20 at least in spvp. Once u get enough experience you will realize that elementalists are worse than other professions at pvp. That’s all there is to it.
Do something for me before you call me an idiot and bad at elementalist, make the best pvp build u can and then go in hotjoin and try to fsu. Once you have done that, make a guardian or a thief, and make any build u want. Go into spvp hotjoin and do the same. Then i hope you understand…
So yeah i think they are underpowered in tons of areas, like they have lowest hp and toughness, mediocre damage unless u spec into doing damage, which will make u die in 5 seconds, as well as fail underwater combat and few (barely) viable trait setups.
This is ridiculous. If you’re having to use all four bars to kill regular mobs in PvE, perhaps you should stop gearing and traiting as a glass cannon? Against regular mobs, I never swap attunements unless I pull a bunch at once.
There’s reason we tell you to “learn to play”. It’s not just learning what skills you have. It’s learning to not be dumb and put all of your everything into power. A little toughness goes a long way.
I certainly don’t fight every mob like it’s a boss. I fight bosses like they’re bosses (like a boss). Are we squishier than all of the other professions? Of course! But, we certainly don’t do drastically less damage than anyone else.
Please stop complaining about how elementalists are underpowered or suck until you stop trying to be a glass cannon, use your dodge key once in a while, and actually do learn how to play this game.
You dont swap attunements while you are fighting and you are telling us to “learn to play”? lol.
And its not only about pve. Pve is easy with any profession. The main problem is with spvp, where the elementalist is subpar.
I agree, but let me add a thought.
Arenanet has compensated for elementalists having 20 weapon skills by making the skills weaker, as well as adding longer cooldowns. So what you get in the end is 16 auto attack strength skills, and 4 skills that are even weaker than another classes autoattack. This is why people get the feeling like no matter what they do they cant seem to do more damage, and that it requires so much effort for the same result.
In theory, anet thinks that it is balanced out by the fact that you have skills to use for every situation. Well, no. Attunements are the elementalists class mechanic. Its supposed to make us more powerful, not keep us at the same level. With a ranger, their class mechanic of having a pet, effectively making every 1v1 the ranger is in into a 1v(1+1/2) with no drawbacks at all. Seems fair? nah.
Solution : Buff our skills. That’s all they have to do. Simple, right?
This thread is pointless. Dont cry about not being able to play the profession. Easily kitable? Dont you have like 3 utility skills to stop people from kiting you? Bad damage? Are you kidding? The warrior is the only profession that can use a berserkers amulet and still have good defense. This is pathetic and i hope you realize that your profession is actually 10x better than some other professions that need much more love, like elementalists and necros.
I didn’t play even until the first expansion. Just checked a few videos of more up to date pvp. You still have to stand still to do anything, you can literally sit there and click skills at your leisure. Melee vs melee is literally trading blows, a battle of numbers. I would rather have more action and no holy trinity.
You sir, are an idiot. If you actually believe guild wars 1 pvp was just numbers and exchanging blows then u must have played 1 or 2 games tops. It was 1000 times more complex than gw2 pvp.
tl;dr: “Play now” button needs to strongly prioritize servers with player imbalances (very possible it does this already) and be put in a super obvious place like stuck to the side of the screen when in the heart of the mists. Keep everything else the same. Problem = largely solved.

Sorry but there is a problem with that that i hope you guys over at anet have considered. If people leave a game and create unbalance, its usually because they are losing (probably getting creamed). If this is implemented, then when they press Play Now they will always be put into a game where they are losing and have no chance of winning. People will quickly get tired of being dominated and they will eventually all turn to selecting servers manually, and the only people left to press play now are very nooby players, who, lets face it, wont help that team on the losing side win.
Most of this is solid but, why no elementalist section? They arguably need the most love right now.
And you think the easiest solution to pistol whip is a 1.5-2k hp increase? Increasing the base health of all professions by 1.5k-2k hp would mess up pve and wvw more than it would save pvp.
… Im not even going to read past the first 2 sentences. Autobalance is because when a team starts losing, people leave. And the more people leave, the more that team loses… so eventually that team would end up with like 2 people and the score would be 500-10 and that wouldnt be fun for anyone. Auto balance is in place to prevent that.
I love how the shortbow feels. And the fact that it does well in combat is just gravy.
As far as the small look… i got used to it and it doesnt bother me as much. You probably will too if you give it a good chance!
Toughness is better versus raw damage, Vitality is better against conditions. Its as simple as that.
So if you have a build with tons of condition removal, go for toughness. However, if your condition removal is lacking, vitality is your best bet.
Also when you have a ton of hp, and you lose that health very quickly, you will need to heal for more. With toughness, you lose health slowly, and you need to heal less. So its more efficient to heal targets with high toughness
Why is it that elementalists are the only profession whose downed state doesnt include an immediate way of interrupting the enemy? Honestly. Every other profession has one.. why not ele? Eles also have like 10.8k base hp and light armor… i really dont get why they cant have an interrupt in downed state.

Interesting suggestion, but it will never happen. The game has already been released and doing something like that would make a lot of people unhappy.
Their goal is to 1. Balance the worlds out so one doesnt have more people than the other
2. Reduce FPS issues because of having too many people
They added 3 new US servers recently, more may be added to spread out the queue times.
At the last moment arenanet felt to change hot join pvp to 8v8 from 5v5. They MUST have had another reason other than the one they gave, that it “gave less experienced players a way to learn the game without hurting their team as much”
Why wouldnt they add 10 player lobbies and 16 player lobbies? There has to be something wrong with 10 player lobbies that they dont want us to know that they cant have. Like, for example they can only have 325 servers in pvp and they found out that 10 players per server isnt enough to support the pvp playerbase. That was just an example, i have no idea if any of that is true.
So what are your theories?

Every class in the game can use combo fields and skill. Everyone does combos with their skills. Some classes are still just weaker.

Anyways, saying combat is more than just toe to toe strength to prove that classes are balanced is invalid because every other class can use tactics and wit. It doesnt change the fact the some classes are weaker than others.

Lets recap on eleBest healing and group healing in the game= CHECK
High Multi-role capability = CHECK
More base toughness and HP then a thief = CHECKI will give you a few hints. For SPVP and WVWVW.
Build for Air and Earth and rest into water or fire.Air and extreme mobility, you have more mobility then a thief (supposed to be most mobile class in game laugh), you have the crit and the nice damage channel attack depending on weapon, as well as a sick BLIND. Also has high gap closing and escape (which is covered in mobility)
Earth and armor, you have an armor ability you can pop that has a LONG duration, and you can switch attunements and it will remain, this also increases toughness.
You also get a signet slot ability that gives you earth armor, and a talent at certain health. Earth also has a Nice knockdown, so even if you are in trouble do the AOE knockdown switch to Air and burst out of there.

Elementalists need a buff. It’s as simple as that.
I wouldn’t bet on them getting fixed any time soon.
In guild wars one, and update was released to increase the viability of elementalists. One skill, shockwave, was ridiculously OP and accepted as OP by every1 in the game and it hasnt been fixed or nerfed in the slightest, to this date.
I have the arc lightning bug but it doesnt affect combat much, also Armor Of Earth doesn’t give any increased time on the boons with increased boon duration traits. It says it does from the tooltip, but still will give 6 seconds
I’m sure you guys already know about most of these, but i’m going to post them here because these are bugs that give you a disadvantage (especially on pvp where the elementalist is already on the weaker side of things).
Ride the Lightning does not work 90% of the time (im not exaggerating) when you use it while targetting an enemy thats moving. This is a huge bug because it leaves you helpless for the duration of the spell. Its like a CC you cast on yourself.
Ride the Lightning also does not work with the 20% lightning skill recharge trait. It should recharge at 12 seconds, but still recharges at 15.
Magnetic Grasp is just an overall glitchy skill. It usually works in pulling you to the foe, but sometimes it will pull you to them and keep pulling you too them even when you right next to them. This is also like a CC cast on yourself, leaving you helpless for the duration of the spell unless someone else interrupts you (the duration is like 10 seconds long)
I feel the need post these things because these bugs, as well as any other bug that affects the outcome of pvp matches needs to be dealt with quickly, only after exploitable bugs. It makes me feel like crap when i lose a 1v1 with someone else because of using a buggy skill.
