Man, when I got on last night (TC) the only map where we even had anything, Eternal Battlegrounds, had a long queue. The Borderlands had no queue, but were all awful and pointless to even go in.
I tried to do something for 20-30 minutes, but just outside our only spawn zone were 15+ BG players, just camping there. At /most/ there were 7-8 TC players around, most of them too scared to venture out to any location when there was an opening. Had a few openings and only ever had 1 other TC player go out with me, and we would quickly get mobbed by 8+ at any location we attempted to take.
It was awfully boring…
Yep. Last night tried it twice with friends, both times the giants never appeared. Did it alone and it worked normally. It appears to have an issue if anyone else joins you for it.
Yeah, I suggested this in a thread a few weeks ago. The shield really needs a block, and it just feels like those two skills should be swapped anyway.
Yeah I had it stop working on the Personal Story quest where the undead invade Claw Island. It didn’t work the entire time, and it was rather annoying.
Hey, this forum design has been bothering me so much, I’m wondering if anyone feels the same way. As an artist, focusing on graphic design, I can’t help but wonder who designed this forum and why they choose to sacrifice standard features and functionality for this minimalistic approach. Why did they make it such a challenge to post and image in the body of your topic? It’s nearly impossible to have a cool signature because the signature form only allows 100 characters. I’ve spent some time trying to fit an image or signature into the forms to no avail. Maybe there’s a way, but I havn’t found it.
Forum designers, I know how you have your reasons for trying something different and being minimalistic, but you didn’t have to remove the most basic and essential features that most forums offer. The overall website design is great, but the forums should stick to the industry standard design, because it works. The forums were not ready when the game was released, and I think it was because they were still working on the design and layout. The outcome is overdesigned and lacking functionality. I have a feeling I’m not the only one who misses the standard forum layout that we all know and love.
Some of the “standard features” that you may have come to regard as “essential” for forums are intrusive and easily abused by players. We prefer to have our moderation team working on moderating discussion content. We would rather have our resources focused on keeping an eye on whether people are posting in a respectful tone, whether people are being constructive with their discussions/comments, etc. rather than on spending their time moderating forum signatures, images, or disruptive uses of text.
We have disabled image-based signatures on purpose. Only text is permitted for forum signatures.
We have removed most advanced font formatting features such as changing text colors or sizes on purpose, because those features are often abused in forums.
As for images, they can be attached to your post. I understand that this is not ideal for certain purposes/edge cases, however attaching images to a forum post will work for the vast majority of forum users.
I may just be spoiled by XenForo, but it would really be nice to at least track threads you were active in and be able to jump to the first new post since you were last on.
Came to post my own thread, but this fills it.
Skill tooltips need way more detail. GW1 was meticulous in showing all the information about a skill. Why aren’t cast times listed in the tooltip?
Also was going to suggest that the total damage of the skill be made clear, and include all traits and passives. Multi-hit damage needs to be more clear and consistent as well.
I wanted to sword-and-board but I just got tired of the cooldowns and damage output. I found my greatsword just tore things down faster.
You know you have two weapon sets you can swap between, right?
Here’s how I play my guardian:
The Greatsword is amazing – it has decent utility, and is an excellent damage dealer. So I always have the GS on me.
My second weapon set I adapt to what I’m fighting, typically going by this logic:
Main:
Sword – For more damage and/or if there are a high number of ranged foes (blind+projectile blocking.)
Mace – Defensive/Support (all its abilities can help allies that are close enough.)
Scepter – Support + Damage
Staff – Support
Offhand:
Shield – When I want a mid-way Offensive/Defensive set. Skills are good for team protection and anti-ranged.
Focus – Defensive. Blind+Condition removal and a 3x Block (which I really think should be on the Shield.)
Torch – Offensive – if I want more damage to go with my Sword/Mace. Also typically always take this with Scepter.
I mix and match for what works best against what I’m fighting. For instance, when fighting Dredge I tend to swap out the focus for the shield or torch, since they’re immune to blind – typically take shield with sword and torch with mace while fighting them.
I don’t see why you would limit yourself to one specific Main/Offhand combination. The Sword + Focus is a lot of wasted ability on blind immune foes, for instance.
Shield of Absorption:
Detonate for a moderate heal on everyone inside.
Activate Combo Field: Light for condition removal and widespread retaliation.
Interrupt enemy casts.
Knock back enemies.
Absorb any ranged attacks, including (I think?) cones. Not bad. The long cooldown does hurt, but I think what makes Shield of Absorption particularly odd is that it appears on a shield.
A shield that has no Block function whatsoever. I really think Shield of Absorption should switch places with Shield of Wrath from Focus.
Yeah, before even reading these forums, I was thinking in-game “Shield of Wrath from the focus should really be on the shield, and SoA should be on the focus.”
Actually, I had thought of this before, and I think what needs to be swapped is Shield of Wrath on the focus, with Shield of Absorption on the shield.
