Monthly Achievements? WHY?!

you didn’t read.

i CANT do it again, because it’s stuck on 186 salvage. I’ve done 100s and 100s today and it’s not moved at all from 186.

So yes, I care. I don’t care for the reward, I want it completed.

Why isn't Karma shared?

because you can easily get a HELL of a lot more karma on your 80.

Then log your lower level toon and by the best of everything right away?

Yeah, no. Silly tbh.

Monthly Achievements? WHY?!

Okay I had NOT done the august monthly achievement.

However, I HAD done the September one.

I log in to day, and see that it’s been reset. My experience is still at 100% but my salvage items is at 186 (I have done probably near on 1000!) I just tested it and salvaged an item, and still it is stuck on 186.

I also have WvW kills needed and monthly events.

Why was this reset?! In the patch notes I found it very poorly worded, but again, I didn’t do august but I did septembers. So why now do I have to do it again and why is it stuck not updating, and why does it say something absolutely ridiculous as only 186 salvages when I probably do more than that in 3-4 hours a day.

Announcing something like this on the forums is only going to make it 10x worse. So…why? Why not just report it as a bug in game instead of letting 100s of guilds see it.

Chef changes: where to find vanilla?

Wow…I’m prettykitten right now about what happened? Update to keep players from leveling using cooking!? What about some of us who happened to like cooking and have fun looking for vendors!? Where can I get vanilla then if I can’t buy them!?

No, you’re wrong I’m sorry but you are. I am one of the (un)lucky ones who got a great deal of XP through cooking. It was 400 a while ago now and I deeply regret out leveling some zones so fast on my main character.

YES I can still do them, the fun part has gone though, upgrading my character with that shiny new bow I found. It will be too low.

YES I can do them on an alt, but it won’t count to 100% map completion.

Do you really think it was intended to level a character so fast through one specific profession? All the other profession are the same, so why not cooking? What is so special about that? It cost karma and it cost a bit of gold. I am yet to make 1 gold coin, so I don’t know how much it actually cost since my money kept dropping doing it, but in the end, it was an extremely cheap and efficient way to grind levels. TOO efficient.

Nothing, I repeat, NOTHING stops you from leveling cooking still. I made an alt with a friend who just got the game, he opened a sack in the very first zone, on his very first sack and got 20 something butter. You need to grind money/karma to buy the items from the vendor originally, what;s the difference from grinding the items outright? RNG? Well, it’s an MMO. That’s what you should expect in an MMO.

I am sad this didn’t go through before. I have something like 500 lemons and oranges and 300 vanilla left and to be fair, I’m not even going to sell them on the AH I doubt.

There was no effort involved, and I’m ashamed I actually used it to gain so many levels, I even got the monthly from it. Ofc, I wouldn’t want it taken away from me now after spending all the karma and money on it, but if I could start over with it without losing what I had previously spent, I would without a complaint.

I’ve lead guilds (and clans) for around 15 years or so now, so I have a lot of experience in it. I am after some friendly and mature players.

My main goal is to set groups for each genre to the game, be it sPvP, WvW, PvE or even just social. Over time I shall need officers but that will come when I have a feel for the members.

I have so far, been EXTREMELY lucky with the players who have joined. Average age is between 25-35 with a couple in their 40’s and a few in their teens. It’s a diverse guild from all locations but English MUST at ALL times be spoken in guild.

There are certain levels of maturity, I do not wish for players who love the leet speak language or like to throw out words like noob, pwned, owned, roflmao 24/7. Having a laugh or a giggle or even a harmless poke at your fellow guildies are encouraged however, except for sexist and racist remarks, and ofc, as long as they know you’re joking.

We’ve started from day one of pre-release and there is always someone on (Well, I cant speak past 1am since I’m off by then myself)

If you’re looking for something serious, light hearted, pvp pve or a place just to chill, give me a shout.

How to make money in WvWvW?

I think….think! items that drop from players, even if 100 yards away, spawn at your feet. So kill someone in that big crowd? don’t worry about it.

if you’re always moving like me though, you can end up having it spawn and run away from it.

BTW – THINK! Not sure.

Have not had this issue yet but I am worried about the future of the game and when I wish to make other alts. In a few months time when everyone is max level then a lot of zones will be empty, I can only but agree.

I’d like to add, you say that you’ve already seen the skills but this isn’t the case, my ranger has a different set of skills joining sPvP than it does in PvP. There’s a few that are the same, but mostly their all different, especially the higher tiers.

Don’t forget you can also work towards your town clothes.

Collect tons and tons of different PvP armour and stick them in your locker

Heart Quests/Tasks discussion.

I saw on the fan forum (which I don’t intend to sign up to) a thread discussing the heart quests. Now, it came to my surprise, that the vast majority of the people in the topic, really didn’t like them.

Some commonly used examples were:

It’s too linear

I prefer the WoW typical quest system

It’s too much of a grind

There isn’t much choice

I don’t get why I am doing them, or a feel to them. There’s no story.

You don’t know what you’re getting until you’ve completed them

Of course, there were more. However, personally I enjoy them, in fact, I love them. I’d like to set a few things straight on my own opinion.

How, can one say that they are linear? Yes, one can assume they are your typical MMO quest, but with it’s own design, but I personally feel it allows the player CHOICE on how to do them. Let’s take Warcraft as the general example here:

Player see’s quest icon above the NPC’s head. Player then needs to run to him/her “Hi, I’d like you to deliver this note to the person stood 6 feet away from me, I’m incredibly lazy you see!” Player then get’s a bit of lore as to why their doing it, runs to the quest taker, and get’s a follow up quest with some more lore.

I see that some people don’t agree with not knowing as to why their doing the heart quests in GW. Well, firstly, talk to NPC’s and you will find out. You have that option, but you also have the option to cut the non-sense walking to the QG (quest giver) and get right into it. Secondly, you get a message as to why you are doing it. “Stop the bandits from rallying together to steal the supply. Bring supply to the guards, kill the bandits, collect their badges etc” There you are? Right there you can tell the lore in which bandits are on the assault and they need aid.

The third issue with this, again looking at your generic MMO, for the same amount of lore, you will be given numerous quests. Quest 1 – Run to NPC, get quest, pick up supplies, complete quest, run back to QG, hand in badges, get sent to QG2. QG2 now tells you to kill 10 bandits, perhaps even find X item with a terrible drop rate. Okay, so by the end of the quest chain, you might have done 4-5 quests and get your reward (Which, on the same subject, a reward you don’t know you’re getting, just like a previous complaint). Yet, what if I don’t LIKE killing quests? What if I don’t LIKE doing pick up quests? At least with the hearts I get to pick and choose numerous options on how to do the same quest. I know why I am doing them before even speaking to the NPC, so even for those lazy people who don’t wish to read the text, you get a fair idea as to why.

Once you’ve completed said task, you now get a choice of rewards to buy from the NPC. No good for you? That’s MMO’s for you, no different from any other.

However, quite often these heart quests will lead to a Dynamic event. If you enjoyed the event, you can repeat it, if you didn’t? You can move on. You need the karma? No problem, plenty of them going on. These events also add to the lore, with many of it being told via voice for you lazy people out there. For those even lazier, you might even get lucky and not only get to do a Dynamic event finding out your lore, but get the Heart task done at the same time, killing two birds with one stone.

Still not enough lore for those who like to get a feel for the location/reason as to why? No problem, you get a nice instant mail sent to you giving you something to read (or not) and a little bit of money.

So in reality, the only real difference between these, and Random MMO – You don’t have to walk to Bob, to give Billy Bobs love note who’s stood right next to him to pass on to Kate standing at the end of the pier 20 feet away. You get a choice in how you complete the quests, you get easy-mode lore fed to you and even more for those who wish to take the time to read the note AND even talk to all the random people around the area discussing (via voice in many area’s) and EVEN get to role play your character a bit by progressing which personality you’d like.

So I’m confused? What is not to love?

Yes, I am aware that some of you believe that Arena net told you there would be little to no grinding (I didn’t see this, I purposely stayed away from all content to do with GW2 until it came out, so I’d have it all as a surprise) but here’s the thing! You are not forced to do them! You can level up in pure PvP if you wish. Too much? You can go right into sPvP and get gear given to you, talents given to you, traits given to you, pets given to you and not grind a single thing (You could argue glory, but in that case, would you rather sPvP without the glory and just the fighting?)

Am I missing something here, or is it a case of people will always find something to moan about or do most people genuinely not enjoy doing these heart tasks?
