IOJ doesn’t have the strategy of a tier 1 server, just the numbers. They tend to lose every evenly matched fight and have trouble taking towers unless they outnumber 4:1. They have trouble even taking supply camps without 30 people. It will be interesting to see how badly they get roughed up when they do finally get to tier 1. And ofcourse they have idiots who resort to fireworks glitching and then say that “we shouldn’t get so butthurt about it”.

I will look forward to them getting stomped by JQ.

Its okay though cause no matter how bad JQ beat us, Ill still know we crushed your server <3

Also helps them to win when they are blatantly cheating. Oh what’s this…our last keep in EB…no swords up….yet all of a sudden here’s their army at our 2nd gate. Yah ok IOJ.

Maybe learn the game mechanics first?

Legendaries Are Not Created Equal

The clue is that you can tell the Greatswords were born from Inspiration while the others were not. Instead someone was tasked with designing them and hence they look and feel less original.

This. And while obviously a developer will refute this statement, as they have to for PR. I do ask simply, why is it that not ALL legendaries have footsteps and auras and yet the greatswords do?

As a legendary crafter myself, I am directly asking the developers who may or may not read this, why does my legendary weapon (The Predator) not have any aura/footsteps to discern me from everyone else? I dont mind not having one, but then I dont see why other skins should. And yes that sounds vain, but the entire premise of obtaining a legendary is that you are seeking a vanity item. Legendaries should be equal, not some legendaries more defined than other for no specific reason, unless a developer can give a direct and reasonable reason.

The Legendary Letdown

Hmm…. I made a legendary weapon already and I also played GW1 for 5 years. Actually I am 100% confident getting GWAMM takes longer, the cash equivalent to get those maxed drunkard, sweet, treasure hunter etc is about the same time sink to get the cash for a precursor at 500g. And if you disagree then you are just bad at making money in GW2 it seems.

I didnt even flip to get my legendary, I simply played the game (80% of the time in WvW) and bought the precursor weapon for a reasonable price. Granted I didnt pay 300g for my precursor, but even if I did have to, it would only have taken an additional month more or less.

Hundreds of thousands of items…. that took some people a whole 2 weeks to obtain. If people want to gamble, that is their choice, nowhere did it ever say if you throw in 1000 items you get a precursor in return. One could have simply saved that cash and added on and bought one.

The point at the end of all this is, its very doable, and if it will take you 1 month or 2 months longer than the world firsts then its really not something worth crying about. Anet stated only about 5% of the population should have a legendary, and this system seems to be keeping that in check just fine.

If you think you deserve to be one of those 5% you better go earn it, and just cause someone else got lucky with a forge try doesnt make it the end of the world, it simply makes you jealous.

Some people I know got lucky on the stock market with a pure fluke and got rich, I dont go to wall street demanding money because somebody else got lucky, as you shouldnt demand precursors cause someone got it faster than statistically predicted. Life is tough, and some others got their stuff before you, big deal. Go out and earn it if you want it.

Ehhhhhh…. complaints about a legendary taking 3 months to make is too long?

Any of you play GW1? Any of you get god walking among mere mortals? I genuinely reckon that took longer than getting a legendary weapon, sure there was less RNG involved but you can buy 1 after playing 3 months and in the life span of a game, 3 months is nothing. There were much harder grinds in GW1 and people got them done without complaining.

Essentially you misunderstand what grind is. Anets philosophy was that you dont need to grind for anything required to play at peak efficiency. Also a legendary weapon is NOT a reflection of skill, perhaps a reflection of efficiency but skill is in pvp… not the acquisition of gear. So if not a reflection of skill then what is it a reflection of? Dedication and perseverance regardless of whether those around you got more lucky or not. Essentially you are complaining that a weapon that is meant to mark dedication requires too much dedication, kind of a paradox isnt it?

As the crafter of The Predator, the rifle you see in that video, I must say I am happy with what I received. There is no doubt about it and I dont regret it.

However I must attest to what is being said here. The level of effort put into some of the weapons just isnt equal. The engineer gets 3 weapons he can pick from, only 1 of which is a 2 hander and that is the rifle.

For the purposes of the skills, rifle is practically the only viable weapon in wvw as condition damage from the pistol scales very badly with pve gear ( a topic for another time and another place).

The point is, Engineer for example isnt given much variety. I would expect the few weapons we can have to be astounding. And yet the warrior can have TWO greatswords, as well as the hammer, as well as my rifle, as well as the axe, as well as the shield, as well as the mace, as well as the longbow, as well as the sword.

What I am saying is that warriors had a lot of variety to choose from, and hammer is just as viable as greatsword in wvw for example. So why did the warriors get even extra work on a weapon that is unique to only 2 classes (Warrior and Guardian).

In any case to offer constructive feedback rather than complain.

A legendary should have
1. Detailed texture and particle effects to appreciate the art

2. Something to make it noticeable outside of combat. When I am not in combat, nobody can really tell that my rifle is a legendary rifle. Yet everyone knows twilight is because of the constant animations. What I ask is that every weapon do something out of combat. In the case of the rifle, the purple plasma that occurs at the tip of my gun during fire, should coat the entirety of my armor, or be left in the wake of my footsteps. As such even when I am just walking around, everyone will know that I am wielding a legendary, as it should be.

3. Something in combat that makes it clear you have a legendary. This can be a defining characteristic. At the moment when a twilight/sunrise is swung in battle there is a trail of texture left all over the place, when you are hit by sunrise or twilight you know it. Now the other weapons not so much. I cant speak on behalf of the other classes and their legendaries, but in the case of mine on my engineer. An idea could be when you drop supply crate, instead of just dropping a crate, if you are wielding the legendary, you cause a sci fi beam to appear from the ski and beam in your supplies. Exactly like how beaming works in sci fi movies. This way when you use supply crate in battle, a massive beam from the sky would port in your kit and EVERYONE on the battle field would know that a legendary weapon is within the area, just like with sunrise/twilight. The thing with such a change is its easy, I know you have the animations for it, just take the animation for Ray of Judgement from GW1, everyone loved the holy beam animation, you can just do the same here for supply crate and you just made the weapon super epic.

Anyways just my 2 cents, I would still have my rifle over anything, and I certainly wouldnt reroll what I love to play just to wield a different skin.

Is there a chance you can pull an elite or mobs onto the npcs and have them killed? Might fix that, in the case of IoJ, the cannons at Fort Trinity has needed repairing all day, which I dont think we can fix at all.
