Perhaps you’d also consider Gandara?
An EU server currently number 17 here: http://mos.millenium.org/matchups
We seem to be dominating right now, mainly due to off-peak players holding things together and some smart play in the Borderlands at peak times.
In many previous matchups, we have seen the opposite and our off-peak players just aren’t enough.
We’d like to progress up the ranks, but the higher ranks do have more off-peak players which has been our downfall.
I believe a good guild of US players could make a huge difference as we progress through the rankings.
We’re also invariably a ‘no-nonsense’ server and we play fair with a disdain towards exploiters.
We have shortish WvW queue’s at peak times, but at your hours queues would be minimal at worst.
Check us out and good luck wherever you decide upon.
How often do you witness this behaviour?
I only do WvW and I play almost every night for between 4 – 6 hours, even more at weekends.
Since release, I can’t recall this happening to me once. I play on Gandara.
Even if you’re collecting badges, how many are you actually losing to ALT F4?
I really can’t imagine even at the extreme, that more than 10 people ALT F4 in any person’s play session.
Considering you aren’t guaranteed a badge anyway, it’s hardly a game-breaker. How many loot bags do you miss?
Or, as might be the case, am I just so lucky that it doesn’t happen to me?
If so, how about a list of servers where this behaviour is prolific?

I don’t know if I speak for most people but I’d like to see a simple change to the dev tracker in the forums.
I’m really not interested in who has been blocked/suspended/terminated and other account issues. Similarly, replies about closing another bot report/whine thread are less than interesting.
Can we have some filtering on the Dev Tracker please, so we don’t have to see this stuff?
C’mon guys, this is the WvW forum. There’s a lot wrong with WvW at the moment, but I don’t think map completion is really up there with the more important issues.
I’m slightly embarrassed to see this here, being from Gandara myself.
While being chased down, I have occasionally opened up the map and ported back to the keep if out of combat. That might cause some confusion to some players.
That’s a good point that I’ve never really thought of. People always seem to inexplicably disappear when I am chasing them down and maybe this is exactly what they are doing.
They probably need to make some changes to things like portal and logging out after recently being in combat. I’m pretty sure that portals, log outs, and Alt+F4s, were never intended to be used as escape abilities.
I don’t agree with Alt F4, but I don’t think it’s a problem using a waypoint while out of combat.
Let me put it this way… the times I used a waypoint, I was already out of combat and could easily have kept running and gaining distance. My stealth timers were probably renewed as well.
Whether I stealth or not, I have to create a certain amount of distance before losing combat. If you haven’t got me with a stun or whatever before that time, you already lost me.
We don’t need to add an extra timer for being “recently in combat”. You already had that chance while I was making my break. Or maybe you was never close enough to begin with?
I don’t want to run the length of the map just to regroup.
While being chased down, I have occasionally opened up the map and ported back to the keep if out of combat. That might cause some confusion to some players.
You can’t solve this simply with no AOE cap.
A choke point, Danelon for example, could be held off with five to ten high damage AOE’s fired in unison.
With the cap, and 10 or more people zerging that choke point, most would get through.
Without an AOE cap, hardly any would get through because they would all take 15k+ damage + bleeds, conditions etc, immediately.
You can’t set up siege to target these AOE’rs, because your siege won’t go through the small entrances with AOE’rs either side, out of LOS.
You would have to lower the damage of AOE’s and that would be a balancing nightmare across the classes, affecting far more than just AOE’s.
Perhaps a better approach would be to make players more vulnerable to AOE damage when they are very close together?
That could be achieved by making AOE’s hit a percentage of players, depending upon their concentration.
Still a balancing issue, but not as complicated as a gamewide, blanket reduction to AOE damage.
Well we made some progress until a couple hours ago, then Gunnar’s started attacking Gandara lowlands, we retaliated and now FR are back in Stonemist.
Considering FR will be on day and night, so far we’re making it easy for them.
Personally I’d rather see Gandara OR Gunnar’s take this before FR walk away with another easy win.

Hi Merlin,
Make no mistake, if you’re red you’re dead… but I think we could play this wisely and just avoid each other until things are under control and no-one s running away with an easy lead..
FR will play all night, we both know that. There’s no point letting ego’s get in the way of trying to have more fun for the rest of the week.
Anyway I respect whatever decisions Gunnar’s make. All the best.
Thanks Tortun as well, wise words.
It’s early days yet but FR are pulling ahead with a good lead already.
If this continues it’s going to end up the same as every other match where one side takes an early lead with no way to turn it around.
If Gandara and Gunnar’s can work together, we can even the match up again.
I suggest we defend our own lands and only attack blue objectives (FR) until such a point that the match even’s up again.
Gunnars could concentrate on Durios and Umberglade while Gandara take Quentin and Danelon.
I’m probably asking for too much but this is the way ANet thought it would play out, so until WvWvW changes for the better, why not give it a go?
If I can get some response in here from Gunnar’s, I’ll try to spread the word on Gandara.
Good luck either way.
After the patch of 11 October, for the first 2 nights of playing, I found that player invisibility was much improved.
After that things have gradually gotten worse again and last night was as bad, if not worse than before the patch.
Anybody else noticing this?
I have to wonder if GW2 even has “European” servers:
command line: netstat -n -p tcp -b | more
When logged in to Gandara I see 3 connections from GW2.exe, all resolving to Austin, Texas.
If this is the case, there’s no problem using “European” servers from US.
Not too good that Europeans have to deal with extra latency and ping though.
Don’t take this as gospel, I don’t know their network structure, but that’s how it seems to me.
Hi Zauric,
Exactly!
I play on Gandara and left the game last night with 100% of the map. Not much point playing any further.
@SteiveMJH
So ANet doesn’t have to go and make the situation worse by buffing the already stronger side.
You think that’s conducive to better PvP?
As already mentioned, switching the Orb and Out-manned bonus would go some way to alleviating the problem.
Basically, give those who are winning better loot and those who are losing, more health.
Making the winning team even harder to kill is a serious oversight. There’s absolutely no point playing after the first day or 2 once the point difference becomes too great, other than for the fun of it. But that fun quickly diminishes when you already know the outcome.
