Honestly, doesn’t matter if it’s a weapon or armor, if you went through all the trouble of making a legendary it should come pre-loaded with all the sigils or runes that can be swapped between fights.

I mean the same point the original post makes holds completely true of legendary weapons as well. You can swap the stats on the weapon to change your spec but you still have to swap everything else and then change out the runes.

Perhaps a big update or expansion entirely focused on adding/improving underwater will come some day….one can hope, as it is a part of the world, wether people like it or not, can’t just ignore it forever, Anet.

I wouldn’t count on any of that. They can totally ignore it forever and probably will.

Get friends to craft them for you

I did a lot of this when I was crafting a precursor. I am very fortunate to have a lot of friends and a large helpful guild and I’ve never lacked for people willing to let me use their cooldown as long as I could send them all the materials, or who would be willing to trade me finished deldrimor ingots they have lying around for the materials.

So it makes me wonder why that limit is there. The finished product can be traded and if you have enough friends the one a day limitation isn’t an issue. So why have it at all other than to punish people who don’t have a lot of friends or are in small guilds?

I know it seems ‘crazy to you’ that people don’t want to herd you around but commanding is actually an incredibly exhausting and frustrating experience. I don’t help people learn because people don’t want to learn. Hell, they don’t even want to try! People just want to mindlessly follow the colored tag and mash 1 until they get loot.

I ask people to please stomp the mushrooms, they don’t and the Gerent battle fails for everyone on the map. I ask them to please break the vinetooth prime’s bar, they don’t and the event fails and nobody gets their mastery point. I tell them please for the love of god stun these frogs and lead them away from the octovine you’re killing us, they don’t and another lane has to come in and help. They don’t do these things because they don’t want to do these things. People don’t want to have to think.

Strange how this never seemed to be a problem with any other MMO I’ve ever played. I’ve never seen an expansion with so few armor sets in my life.

The problem doesn’t seem to be a lack of resources, the problem seems to be hilariously tragic mishandling of said resources and a content pipeline that looks like a dirty dishrag.

Did HoT ruin GW2?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

James Quall.6029

Ruin might be too strong of a word, but the huge content drought before the expansion and the huge content drought after the launch certainly had their effects on my login frequency. I doubt I’m the only one who plays much less (or not at all) because of this.

It has been something like 3/4 of a year since the expansion launched and so far I think the only new content released since then was the three wings of Forsaken Thicket. I have only raided a few times and my impression is generally positive but at the same time I am also not really compelled to ever raid again.

Kudzu is easily the dumbest looking legendary, just all around the worst. If bolt didn’t have the cool lightning effects it would just be an ugly sword. Minstrel is the definition of unimpressive and it just has nothing at all going on for it.

It’s a shame that some legendaries haven’t had any of their effects improved at all but the stupid pony bow has been updated like 4 separate times to make it even more obnoxious.

Pistol has been due for a major overhaul for over a year since they removed ricochet. Twice now they’ve increased damage done, which isn’t a bad thing, but low damage is only a small portion of the issue with the weapon.

Pistol is still probably the only exclusively single target weapon in the game, body shot is still a worthless waste of initiative, the weapon trait is bad, and pistol/pistol is still a one skill weapon set. Yeah it’s cool my unloads do more damage than ever before but I can’t live on unload alone.

However the writers gave her way too much leverage that was never fully explained. She even got one of the most xenophobic race (Krait) in guild wars franchise to work with the Nightmare Court.

This actually raises an interesting point that has always bothered me. If one has done the different paths of Twilight Arbor (including the old spider path that they just got rid of instead of trying to fix) you see that with Faolain gone the Nightmare Court starts ripping itself apart with infighting at the first sign of a power struggle.

There was one living story update that included a bunch of audio logs from Scarlet and the entire deal was a clumsy, ham fisted plot dump meant to catch people up with the story. One of the logs was regarding getting the dredge and the Flame Legion to work together: “Flame Legion gets gears, dredge get magic, and I get two armies” or something like that. That was seriously all the explanation she had to give for how and why they worked for her.

Scarlet didn’t need (or apparently even have) any other reasons for why she could gather so many different armies with conflicting goals and ideals, including the Flame Legion who would never follow a woman in the first place. Somehow she got all of these people to be her perfectly loyal slaves that never disobeyed and there was no conflict between them and no infighting or power struggles whatsoever.

She was just so brilliant and perfect and a master tactician and engineer and leader and she can do anything because she is just so wonderfully wonderful~ Seriously, the book Sea of Sorrows is all about how Lion’s Arch withstood attacks from Zhaitan and Kryta attempting to recapture their old capital. But Scarlet, who had been beaten at every turn and had wasted so many troops and resources, still managed to succeed in destroying Lion’s Arch where even elder dragons had failed. I really mean it, Scarlet was someone’s Mary Sue fanfic character that inexplicably got into the game.

While I do think Anet listens to players, I think decisions that affect the bottom line are communicated to us as a courtesy in the interest of open communication, not to open a debate with players to compel them to rethink the decision.

“Anet listens to players and they want open communication, but that doesn’t mean you can call them out when they go back on their word!”

Honestly it doesn’t matter even matter why they suspended development. The precursor collections have been a mess since they were implemented, but implemented they were and that was anet’s decision and fault. Content was promised and will go undelivered indefinitely and that is wrong. It doesn’t matter if it’s incompetence or lack of manpower or just a plain bad idea to start with; any failings they have that prevent them from delivering this content is not an excuse and this does not shift the blame away from them. Understanding why the decision was made does not make it right and does not mean they shouldn’t endeavor to make it right.

It is OK to say this to anet.

NEWS FLASH It’s ok to expect BOTH, especially when they promised BOTH! We’re talking about trade-offs and compromises that shouldn’t have to be made in the first place and the fact that they’re making them isn’t something we should ever congratulate!

This works nicely on human females. Haven’t tested other females yet, because after dyeing it for two of them my next alt up in rotation to pick a color scheme was a male sylvari. I didn’t even bother to dye it on him because I was too busy flashing back to the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man, and laughing and saying Oh Hell No. I promise the dyes in the shot below look very elegant on the Lyssa Outfit.

I love how the sylvari looks like he is trapped in a water heater but the human’s outfit manages to perfectly fit every curve and contour of her body despite being made of heavy plating and rivets. I wonder why that might be!

James Quall.6029

Overhyped, overpriced, grindfest that underdelivers. That’s why.

I would like to add: glacially slow content release, disappointing and inadequate balancing, and it killed wvw. Megaservers try to close active maps and shuttle you off to even emptier maps, and taxing using the lfg tool is the primary method of experiencing content but it is the crudest solution to a very old problem that shouldn’t have been a problem in the first place (no ETA on a fix for that of course).

Participation percentage is a big part of the overall reward but if you swap instances you will lose all participation, even if you volunteer to leave an empty map or in the case of tangled depths you do one of the adventures that sends you to a private instance. Once again there is no ETA for a fix on this but even if they fix it that isn’t a good thing because they’re just cleaning up a mess that never should’ve been there in the first place.

I would be willing to compromise and have a gem store item you could buy (and it would probably be fairly expensive) to give you unlimited transmutation charges.

Unfortunately if something like that were ever to be implemented it would be like the permanent bank access contract, permanent hair stylist contract, permanent black lion merchant contract, and permanent trading post express contract, and be only available in black lion chests.

Article specifically says melee, not ranged. Pistol needs a lot more than auto attack damage increase, and we’ve been without ricochet for over 6 months. If the pistol change isn’t coming this balance patch then when? How long are they going to leave a weapon set completely gutted before giving us a workable solution?

Other professions (mesmer, elementalist, warrior) had specific weapons named that are getting change, and I think thief pistol is worse off than any of theirs and surely worth some kind of mention if they were going to do something about it.

Instead we get an improvement to melee auto attacks meaning they’re leaving pistols out on purpose.

Game doesn’t need a subscription because they don’t have a problem earning money, they just have a problem where they keep making mediocre content at a glacially slow pace. Withdraw Issue finally acknowledged

Josh never specifically mention Withdraw’s missing 10% rather he commented that they’re going to have a balance update where this issue may or may not even be implemented. What exactly “addressing” means? It could very well mean, “yes we acknowledge that Withdraw has issue, but we’re not doing anything about it at this time, there we addressed it.”

My best guess as to why such vague language was used is because instead of tweaking the healing power they’re going to give it a significant rework.

Not sure why that means in the interim they can’t just give it the healing increase they promised, but then again this is also just a guess.

Not a bug, they simply forgot to adjust the skill.
Anyway, thief or everything is that broken in my opinion that 1k more healing won’t really solve anything. So if the next balance patch will be:
Elementalist: buffed a, buffed b, buffed c…
Ranger: buffed a, buffed b, buffed c, buffed d
Revenant: Buffed a,b,c,d,e
Thief: Fixed a typo in the tooltips, gave withdraw the 1k more damage promised in June last year

I wouldn’t be too surprised.
I sound cynic, don’t I?

Whether you call a skill not having the extra healing they said it does a bug or not, either way it’s not something that has to (or should) wait until some balance patch a month or two away.

But yeah it’s not even so much about the relatively minor boost to healing, it’s the fact that anet is unable or unwilling to make a simple and necessary change in a sane time frame.
