For people that already have a level 80. How about the option to skip these levels on alts, so we can play dungeons and not have to grind those levels again.

Crafting.
You can level a toon to 80 with crafting if you want and have the gold. I’ve heard it’s 10g per craft; you’ll need to max out a few crafting profs.

Maybe they changed it, I don’t know, but in the last 3 months, I’ve never seen it that high.
I know they dropped the drop rate of just about everything, so maybe that’s it.
I’ve never received many dyes as drops either way.

I’ve seen this maybe a handful of times in hundreds of hours of play, and clearing the map.
I’ve never had to group for a heart.
I guess I can’t relate to the OP’s situation, since I’ve never experienced it first hand or heard of anyone who has had similar issues.

That’s interesting; I’ll have to look at those builds.
I’ve never had any success with it, and I really haven’t seen any guardians use it before in pvp.
But my experience is rather limited.

Yeah, from a story telling perspective or a gameplay perspective, it makes sense.

I actually like the Sylvari intro the best, since it seems the most “natural.” No pun.

Actually, a lot of renown hearts in the Charr lands are dedicated to cleaning up the environment.

You make some good points about the Gods; definitely something I’m curious to see more of in GW2.

Humans do seem to be the most politically active; the glue that holds the Pact together. I suppose they have a talent for survival. Endurance would seem to be the overarching theme of humanity.

Humans also seem to have the richest background/culture.
I’m not sure what the Charr would do if they didn’t have a war to wage.

I would also add that Human is the most popular race played, so that has to say something.
Charr are apparently the least popular….there is no accounting for some people.

I’m surprised at all this discussion about a single norn vs an entire warband.
From the wiki, I got the impression that the norn and the charr fought to a stalemate, acknowledged eachother’s strength, had a beer and called it a day.

In short: killing all the mobs is tedious and unrewarding (in every sense of the word).
The idea of forcing everyone to play a certain way just because you don’t like something is….

Keep in mind that a lot of people run dungeons as a money making operation; i.e. farming.
So while clearing the entire dungeon once might be enjoyable…if you’re running it numerous times, it gets old fast.
No one is forcing you to play a certain way, although you seem keen on doing just that.
Group with people who share your sentiments. Not that hard.

“Diminishing returns” means “diminishing gameplay” and also “diminishing players in the game” and “diminishing people you recommend the game to”.

I have long since stopped killing the dragon champions: not worth it.
Dynamic events: not worth it. I’ll do them if they’re in my way or I need my daily.
Chests: not worth it. All blues and greens.

It might just be me, but the build link doesn’t work.

Zoro’s build is pretty standard.
I would recommend GS/Staff.
GS is just all around solid.
Staff for swiftness and ranged pulls.

But you said solo; so I would ditch AH.
I would recommend radiance and honor, with a dash of virtue.

You’re right; I really like using retreat for charging.
Especially with the 5 points in virtue; applying the aegis now grants protection.

My experience with spirit weapons is rather limited, but I have found them to be all around terrible.
If you expect to be able to rely on them for anything (e.g. healing or cleansing)…well, good luck.
The sword might be useful, but when you activate it, it just stabs the ground where it currently is, not your target.
tl;dr they’re bad: unreliable and difficult to control

I would recommend warrior over guardian.
IMO, warriors are just overall better designed; traits and weapon skills are more complete.
Guardians need some work.

If you’re set on making a guardian, just go straight damage for leveling. Staff/Greatsword.

Ganzo has it right; that is one weakness of guardians (among others).

I would recommend not using sword, since yeah, it’s clumsy for anything but pve.

Greatsword.
Gives you mobility, might, aoe damage.
And the symbol.
The Honor trait line gives vitality and healing, and has a 20% CD reduction for 2h weapons. Helps with the “glass cannon” thing.
I would recommend using a staff for your second weapon, if only for swiftness.

Not sure where the line between bug and poorly designed is…
Some obvious ones:
Pure of Voice triggers sporadically.
Symbols (especially the swiftness one) don’t always apply their effects. Example: unless you run directly through the center of the swiftness symbol, you don’t gain swiftness.
Wards don’t work fully; i.e. people can walk through them.
Hammer’s root misses.
Renewed Focus doesn’t make you fully invulnerable; e.g. traps still hurt you.

There are more, but I can’t think of them at the moment.

In a lot of games there is a way to turn down things like effects; spell intensity for example.
Is there a way to do that in GW2 or out of it, via graphics card control panel?

General gripe:
Be level two, already a hero.
As soon as you start your story, you already seem to have this glorious past.
You’ve invented a impressive magical object out of thin air and win the Snaff prize. You’ve already designed a Ghostbore musket that is apparently a complete game changer, to the point that the entire Flame Legion wants your plans and you dead.
The whole thing seems shoehorned in.

Well, it focuses on the Virtues.
And the meditations and consecrations.
I kind of get the impression it’s the result of willpower and a life of contemplation of the Virtues and an active life of living them.

There are a number of grawl factions throughout the game that you can recruit as allies and/or work with.
But they follow anyone who promises them a new God.
Same goes for skritt.
But they follow anyone with shinies.

Well, there is a whole Spear thing.
But yeah warriors obviously.
And rangers: hunting spear.

They had their time.
Over-relied on their Gods.
They keep blowing up their own kingdoms whenever a Charr even comes close to their gates.
Not a sustainable practice.
But hey, they grow good hay.

Money.
Initiative.
It sucks there atm.
And there are humans there, and they just whine and mess everything up.

It would probably be a toss up between Asura and Charr.
Industrial vs Magical. General overall technological mastery for both. Asura have the gates, so logistics might be on their side.
Norn are too individualistic. Maybe not Wolf.
Human’s are too whiny. Threaten their queen, gg. Wiki says they’re masters of agriculture and history. Meh. Even their Gods bailed.
Sylvari…I can’t see them getting involved in a large scale war unless it directly affected their Tree. So if the Asura tried to use it as a magic battery or the Charr for kindling, their might be issues.
I would have to vote Charr, since iirc, they’re the only one’s who haven’t been stomped hard. Primordus beat up the Asura; they ran away.
And everytime a Charr army invades, some human gets the bright idea of blowing up their kingdom instead of letting it fall into the hands of the Charr. e.g. Orr, Ascalon.

Goemm’s Lab: some crazy Asura genius built a crazy genius lab complex. It’s a stretch, but it kind of works.

Yeah, one of the reasons I’m hesitant to invest time in alt’s is because I lack a lot of exotic gear for them.
Granted, gear isn’t as important, they’re not that expensive, etc etc.
Soul bound is somewhat annoying at times (dungeon runes….), but considering other games, and considering that there is already account bound…

The ingame LFG system is….poorly designed…..
I don’t know much about WvW or sPvP. Everything I’ve heard says they need work.
My experience with sPvP has been negative.
WvW is an entertaining slideshow where half the armies don’t load. But I hear they’re working on that. And making it more rewarding, or something.
I would wait until the Jan patch is out; should show a bit about the direction they’re thinking of going.
tl;dr wait a month

It lets people play follow the leader.
It’s nice to have someone to follow when you’re new to WvW and don’t know anyone.
Granted, it doesn’t mean they’re competent; just that they’re willing to invest 100g in something for WvW.

I’m a huge fan of the overflow server in LA; it’s nice to have that overlap and common connection/meeting ground for everyone who plays.
It’s also great for getting groups. Aside from gw2lfg.com, it’s really the only effective way to find them.
Plus, server side LA is dead.

I noticed that the login connection issues and/or server issues last night seems to have set my character back in time by a couple of hours.
I had finished mapping the newbie Norn area and had just waypointed to Lion’s Arch when the game crashed.
Logging in today: half of the Norn newbie area remains unmapped.
I don’t really care since I wasn’t doing anything important, but I’m not entirely sure how a login server issue would reset a character’s progress.

I generally like the voice acting. I would love it if you could choose different voices for your character at creation.
For example: the male charr voice is fine most of the time, but not if you’re running the old and aged face.
Sometimes voices become too distinctive, and it bothers me when they reuse the voice actor for another character.
The female voice of one of the NPCs in P2 CoF comes to mind. She’s also used a lot for Asura females, and hearing her come from a Norn throws me everytime.
I did notice a female voice coming from a male character, who occasionally would say things in a man’s voice.
That tripped me up too.
