Yes.

I mained warrior since I started 10 months ago but I dislike using a warrior in competitive play and the Berserker doesn’t appeal to me personally. After theory crafting and testing the Rev over the last two BWEs I have made my mind up to switch main for all areas of the game to Rev for the foreseeable future. I love the play style.

I’ve had a little play with full dire stats and it definitely seems viable, it’s probably any easier place to start with the survivability. Although I haven’t found any 1v1s to test it out properly just yet. When outnumbered it still seemed to do respectably.

I’m going to try out a carrion/rabid equal mix of armor and trinkets next to see if the hybrid works too. Let me know you’re findings!

I suppose it should be mentioned that a lot of the success of the build is dependant on runes/sigils and specialisations too.

Also rune of the centaur is relatively cheap and offers a boost to swiftness duration as well as swiftness on heal skill. So ultimately if speed is what you want, you have it in multiple ways.

That’s something I hadn’t looked into at all thejoedude. I’ll have to take a closer look at the tablet.

I’ve made a glint/mallyx carrion hybrid with a lot of stability/retaliation/resistance uptime to make up for the lack of condi removal and stun breaks. It’s worked well so far.

I’ve yet to jump in WvW as a roamer, I think it will perform well there too but maybe running a carrion/rabid mix of stats, that’s my next thing to do I guess…

Or full dire? Hmm.. the possibilities!

Usually when tooltips describe an effect given to allies it also effects us, but Chaotic release (the active on Glint’s elite) only gives superspeed to allies and not to us. Is this how the skill is meant to work?

You can gain perma-swiftness on one the Legendary Dragon stance Facets. You can also blast inside the Legendary Dwarf stances Rock Road Utility skill.

There may be other methods I’m forgetting off of the top of my head, I’m sure more folks will chime in.

Good point Random, I’d forgotten the teamwork element there. I guess guardian’s can take care of stability when you really need it too. I guess I was foolishly thinking of solo cue instead of forming team comps.

Blackbeard – I hadn’t even considered Glints “double-press” abilities on the facets. Some of those condi’s are lovely and Mallyx/Glint is definitely something I’m exploring for PvP and WvW roaming.

I really love the Revenant running glint/shiro for PvE content. It’s superb.

When I looked into the competitive side of things I’m struggling to see how this configuration will work because it lacks condition removal and stability or abundant stun breaks.

What do you guys like or think will work best for Revenant in competitive play?

For competitive play it seems to me that running Mallyx and the corruption line will be almost mandatory to give the revenant a way to deal with conditions.
Jalis is a strong second choice for 3 condi’s removed on healing skill and the stability road
The specialisation line with stability on dodge and retaliation on dodge also help us to resolve this problem.

However, I worry that you lose a lot of team support and DPS by choosing these legends, be it through condi’s/direct damage or both via celestial stats.

[Bug/Suggestion] Underwater utility skills

When selecting utility skills underwater Shiro’s Jade Winds have a cross through them on the selection menu but can be selected and used underwater. There isn’t an icon in the tooltip indicating it can’t be used underwater.

Glint’s Facet of Nature is fully functional underwater, every other Facet can’t be selected.

Perhaps we could have the passives available for use underwater?

I imagine a situation like this: You press Facet of Elements for the party swiftness and when you press it again it toggles the passive off (and stops the upkeep cost). This could bypass any difficulty with including the effects that are used on dry land on a double press of a facet.

Thanks for posting this! I’m running the build pretty much as posted with the trinkets a little differently, zerker back/ear/amulet and soldiers ear with 2 healing power/toughness/power rings as I had those available.

I know the Warrior fairly well as a main for the last 10 months but I’m fairly new to the rifle. I’m really looking forward to playing this more in WvW and honing the skills.

I particularly like how you’ve combined roaming/group utility into a single build.

I’m running the standard full zerker signet mastery/phalanx strength/rune of strength warrior for PvE content at the moment.

I’m looking for a cheap/easy switch up to incorporate some condition damage into the build to take advantage of the burns berserker brings to the class whilst still doing decent direct damage. I’m NOT trying to make or play a metabuild. Here’s my build concept:

full zerker armor with strength runes
weapons undecided at the moment, not sure which stats/sigils either
a zerker back item and a mix of rabid/carrion trinkets for a little survivability, a little power/precision and a 615 boost to condition damage (or 1365 condition damage with full might). This could be higher condition damage depending on the weapon stats/sigils.

That’s the limit of my theory crafting and where my question for people much better than me comes in: will 615/1365 condition damage make a tangible difference to the condi’s applied by my berserker warrior?

While the animations during celestial form make sense; I would really like to of seen at least the autoattack of the staff be “planty”

But Solar Beam is a Grass type attack! Doesn’t get more planty than that.

I don’t think it’s going to take much time at all. As far as we know, all you need are the hero points to unlock the associated skills and traits. It’d be nice if there was a story explanation for your character’s sudden growth, but I don’t see this happening. I’d be happy if it did, but it just doesn’t really seem like something ANET will want to set a precedent for since they will be releasing (hopefully) many more specs down the road.

Well if that is true it means I don’t have to rush a load of testing on the BWEs… I’m away working for a lot of the weekends so it’s a relief!

I guess I’ll just get 60 hero points on each prof. in preparation.

It’s interesting seeing the posts from others here.

I’m very excited about the daredevil – those acrobatic animations look amazing and I love the idea of evade based play. But I felt the same way about the Berserker last week I’ve played Warrior most and condi warrior seems to be more viable in WvW and PvP with Berserker.

I’m thinking that my new main will be Revenant when HoT launches. For now I will keep testing the elite specs as much as possible in the remain BWEs to decide which one I want to focus on. I suspect the it will take a fair bit of time to “unlock” an elite spec so I really want to know ahead of time what I should be investing in.

It seems like Ele/Guard are the two professions which excel in all areas of the game right now. I’m finding Ele a little tricky/fiddly to get good at so I think I’ll delve deeper into the guardian next. Thanks

I’m intrigued to see the responses to this question, specifically in terms of damage dealt and benefits to group members.

Responses about PVP, WvW Zerging/havoc groups and dungeons/open world events are all of interest.

About me: I’ve been maining Warrior for awhile; shoutbow in the old meta for PVP/Zerging (right now I’m not using Warrior so much for competitive play) and phalanx strength or signet mastery in dungeons.

I’m intrigued to see what second weapon set experienced Mesmer’s think would be better in open world play. GS + ??

Staff has a bouncing auto attack that’s very slow and seems low damage, and chaos storm for AOE damage. The low power damage on the auto makes me wonder if sword or sceptre/pistol would be a better option.

Centaur runes + low cooldown heal = permaswiftness with no need for signet of inspiration or anything at all. If you choose to go for centaur runes, you’re all set.

I hadn’t thought of this! With traited manipulation recharge reduction using mirror on autoattack works perfectly! But Ether or Renewal and Signet of inspiration stacks tons of swiftness for fights so I favour that definitely.

Thanks for the responses guys, I’m toying (just theory crafting at the moment) with a twist on Kai’s build – some excellent ideas in that guide

Perma Swiftness:
Centaur runes + Low cooldown heal + Signet of inspiration = perma swiftness with no need for focus? EDIT: I can confirm that this works, Mirror on autoattack for ultra laziness (even without the recharge reduction) and Signet of inspirations swiftness stacks wonderfully

Sigils:
I’m thinking Sigil of fire for tagging mobs and a sigil of stamina on both Greatsword and a staff (chaos storm aoe, quick phantasms, bouncing autoattack).

This may not be optimal, I toyed with the idea of sigils bloodlust, force, energy but I think the fire/stamina on both seems most straightforward and useful, assuming focus isn’t needed for perma swiftness.

I’m interested in thoughts on weapon selection/sigil choice if you think I’m wrong

Hi guys,

What is a good build for general open world PVE roaming?

I’ve been playing since December and I’ve recently gotten round to playing Mesmer. I’m using a PU condi build in WVW, it’s very slow in movement speed and DPS when compared to the horde of zerkers also hitting the same NPCs for whatever event it might be.

I have started to learn to play the shatter build for PVP and suspect something along these lines will be best – but I am wondering if I’m missing any tricks for my build in open world PVE.

I’m interested in a few opinions here, I’ve not been fond of the movement speed or Rush since patch. Is the sword a viable alternative? It’s 2# leap skill feels quicker than rush, although perhaps not better than Rush and GS 3# Whirl combined.

Hi guys,

I was hoping when we got the wallet that these items would also become a “currency”. I have 48 slots taken up by ore/dust/fragments currently and it’s a pain honestly. If I levelled my craft to 500 I could make 18 ingots/bricks/stars, leaving 30 slots still taken up by them.

What do you think the chances of these becoming a currency are? I haven’t got high hopes; you have to chuck dust/ingots/fragments into the mystic forge, this idea would require a change in how you can put things into the mystic forge too! But I thought I’d put it out there anyway.

Aside from turning the ore/dust/fragments into ingots/bricks/stars is there another use for them?

After much speculation about how Anet customer services would act on the issue I have been refunded the 10th character slot that I didn’t need for 800 gems. I think I’m satisfied with this. As for my requests in the original posts (now edited out) they may have been a little unreasonable but a guy’s gotta try! At the time of posting I couldn’t see anyone else on the forums, or talking about this problem.

Seera, your lack of understanding on this issue baffles me. It appears Anet do understand. Aside from legality they don’t want to upset the players. Anet can see that their behaviour around this release has not been ideal and they are making amends by offering various refunds. A commendable move.

Hi gang – I spent my gems that I received from ultimate edition before this change came in. They could not refund my money and allow me to purchase standard but they have removed the extra character slot and given me a further 800 gems. I’m ok with that I think!

Seera, we won’t agree here. I’m no Lawyer but I feel this is against trading standards here in the UK. I quote the following in support of my plight

I just got an e-mail from the GW2 support, they understood my problem and are willing to help me out. They’ll remove my Ultimate Edition and give me a refund, then I can buy the Standard Edition afterwards. So if anyone is in a similar situation – contact support and they’ll definitely help you out.

I got one too!

It says at the bottom of the Mail panel that it is sent by a player NOT ArenaNet. This is the best way to spot frauds instantly.

Clicking the link is likely to result in bad things happening. I just deleted, blocked/reported the sender and moved on with my life.

Actually I did, because if the terms clear from the beginning I would have purchased Standard, not Ultimate. A saving of £45 (more than the cost of standard).

One of the reasons I didn’t prepurchase Standard is because it didn’t come with a character slot. I paid more because I wanted one. Now I’m getting a second character slot which I don’t need or want. I’ve paid more for something I don’t need, without being told before hand what I was paying for.

For clarity, the other reason I didn’t buy Standard is because the discounted gems were of interest to me. However understanding the current terms as I do now, I would not have bought Ultimate, I would of bought Standard. This is my grievance.

I’ll wait for a response. I refuse to accept that my grievance isn’t valid. The resolution was a suggestion from my side. I will be interested to see what Anet propose to resolve this issue as the specific circumstances surrounding this issue weren’t mentioned in the news post, but I think will be fairly common.

Hi Seera.5916, thank you for letting me clarify.

If I had known that I would get a character slot for free with the Standard Edition at the time of purchase I would not have paid an extra £45 for a further character slot, 4000 gems (which were advertised as being sold at a discount), a miniture, glider skin and guild hall decoration.

As stated above, I have no use for a 10th character slot whatsoever.

My issue is with the change of terms here, I paid for 4000 gems at a discount. Essentially if you give me a character slot for free I’ve paid full price for the gems and gained a character slot that is of absolutely no use to me.

I would not have paid for the Ultimate edition under these terms, I would have bought Standard. Again, my problem is that what I have paid for has changed and is no longer a good deal to me.

The resolution I’ve posted here is one which I would be happy to accept and allows Anet to keep the Ultimate payment I’ve made for further development of the game. Suiting the both of us.

Hi Anet.

Thank you for offering the character slot for free with the pre-purchase of HoT.

I prepurchased the Ultimate version of HoT and I am slightly concerned with the recent announcements (a character slot included with all prepurchased versions of the game) that what I have paid for has changed and I am not getting a good deal anymore, or what I paid for.

My reasoning is based on the fact that I have bought a character slot, and that now I will be receiving a character slot for free as well – I have no use for a 10th character slot, I only want to have 9 slots (one per profession).

If the character slot is given for free it means that for me I have paid for the gems at practically no discount. I not would of made the purchase if this had been the case at the point of purchase. Please see my working below:

£34.99 for Standard + £42.50 for 4000 gems = 77.49

This would mean I paid £2.50 for the Glider, the decoration token, the miniature and the finisher.

I know the working is not perfect, but originally the gems I was buying were advertised as costing £20. Now that the character slot is offered for free (and I have one I have no use for another one) they essentially cost full price which I’m not happy about.

I am happy to support Anet in the development of this excellent game. But I do feel that unless I raise this issue I may be treated unfairly.

Instead, we can have something like GW1, where you could save lists of pre-made builds and simply switch between them in seconds.

Even better, those builds will have codes that others can put up on the Internet. Copy/paste the codes and voila! You now have the same build.

I never played GW1 but this would be an amazing feature to have in GW2.

The Death Match game type gets a lot of hate. ONE of the reasons for this is that players build and trait their characters for Conquest. Players then have to configure their build differently in the short time before the match starts or risk being at a disadvantage.

With the inclusion of Stronghold the same problem arises.

Where is the problem? You have at least 5 Toons. Configure one for DM and another for Stronghold.

I have 8 Characters (one per profession) and it took a fair bit of work to earn the gems to unlock the slots.

The idea of having 3 slots for every character (a total of 24 character slots) just to be able to alt if a death match or strong hold map is chosen is a worse solution than simply rushing to change traits/weapons/skills in the short time before the match starts.

The solution I have mentioned would make this change almost instant. It’s a convienience rather than a necessity but to my amateur eyes, it wouldn’t appear to be that hard to code and implement.
