Untradable weapon skins

Kallandra.2610

Instead of having to suffer the Randomness of the Black Lion Chests, why not just open a cash shop, where we can buy whatever skins we want for between £2 and £5, because right now it’s not worth spending real money on getting gems, to purchase Keys. (which you can’t even buy 10 of with 800 gems, so there’s no way of getting 10 ticket scraps unless you’re super lucky and one or two chests contain multiple scraps!)

The shadow skelks are cowering in fear. Someone turned the brightness so far up that you need sunglasses just to go in the Shaman’s Rookery cave in the Wayfarer Foothills now. The snow outside is so bright it burns retinas from Zelechor Hot Springs WP down to the Haivoissen Kenning point of interest. The minotaurs have probably gone blind.

I have the same problem on my female sylvari ranger. Although I’ve noticed that if I go through an asura gate or zone into an instance that the rectangular patch on the back changes colours and patterns depending on what was nearby at the time, but for the most part it’s my armour that seems to be the pattern.

(Edit ) I’ve added a couple of screenshots to show the different patterns and colours

Guild Chat bugged

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Kallandra.2610

None of the work-arounds so far are working. I run one of the largest roleplay guilds on Piken Square (The Wandering Roleplayers [RP]), and our new members are leaving as they can’t use guild chat! With nigh on 500 members most of the time it’s frustrating to be losing people thanks to this bug!

As for me, I recently joined another guild (my 5th) and I can’t access their guild chat at all. None of the work-arounds work for me. This is very frustrating!

Serene, the ghost in LA, won’t talk to most of my characters. The ones that she does talk to get as far as the cemetery in Queensdale where no matter what they do the ghost doesn’t show up. In some shards there’s a Priest of Grenth, in others absolutely nothing. I’ve still got the Candy Powered Matter Meter from last year and that doesn’t work either.

Every time I log in to a map I now use map chat to ask if there are any Piken Square Roleplayers, or roleplayers in general in that instance. If I get no reply I then go to my guilds and friends and ask if any of them have found an instance with RP in it. If they have, then we use the join feature to get there :/ If not, we jump around until someone spots roleplay, or we see one of the seemingly ‘anchor’ groups, such as The Busted Flagon, and then all pile in to that instance.

Sometimes guild members are turning up in the same instance, other times they’re not. We’re having to ferry each other around. As a random RPer myself, who’s had to make a guild specifically for finding other roleplayers, I find this a sad state of affairs to be in. – Although it is good to kinda have an unofficial chat channel for almost 100 roleplayers, we could really do with a dedicated one in game that’s available for everyone to use, not just guild members.

For the Piken Square roleplayers, I’ve made a new guild, Wandering Roleplayers [RP].

It’s an OOC guild for random roleplayers, wandering minstrels, people that really want to be around RPers, and anyone else really that roleplays, so that we can all try and get on the same map, in the same instance, at the same time. Also, I’m hoping it will serve as a way of finding out where the roleplayers are, so we can join them in their instance.

They said “guild up”. So, that’s what I’m doing sigh.

Hopefully this will only be a temporary measure until ArenaNet can sort out the megaserver so that we can all be sorted by home server, guild, and friend list.

I’m not a roleplayer, but as a writer and someone who has their own headcanon for every character I can totally sympathise with you guys. This system sucks. I might join you in solidarity :P

You’re more than welcome to join us if you want lol. We’re mostly Piken Square, but there are a few from other servers now as well. So far I’ve got 80+ members (in under 24 hours!), and sometimes we can get in to the same instance, other times we’ve had to team up and join others in their instances. We’re having to rely on someone getting in to an instance with at least some roleplay, and then those that want to join in, trying to get there.

One of the things that bothers me is that we’ve no way of knowing if there are more roleplayers in another instance, if people haven’t got them on their friend list/guild etc. I’ve a feeling some roleplayers have given up trying due to all of this, and it’s especially difficult for random roleplayers that thrive upon chance meetings and overheard conversations, who might not be a member of any guild.

As far as I’m aware there’s no way for ArenaNet to know if a guild is a roleplay guild, or if any of it’s members roleplay when outside of their guild. I still say that some kind of tag or tick box option, is needed.

Why we hear nothing but Silence from ANet?

What do you want, a broadcast in game of the patch notes?

Actually, that’s not a bad idea. A small pop up box when zoning in to the game with just a brief list of fixes (or a link to the relevant web page), or major things like “New language filter in Chat Options” or something like that, would actually work. A lot of MMORPG’s use that kind of thing to notify players of important things.

I was used to just walking past and happening upon RP and being able to join in; yes, I’m a random RPer a lot of the time. Or rather, I was. I’ve no idea how to find folks now, except by pure luck!

I didn’t report the other player, I just put them on block. :/ Am I going to have to put every person who hates RP on block now?

Just what I need to see when logging in to Divinity’s Reach:

“Please refrain from doing any roleplay in this server, thanks in advance.”

Along with so much hate for roleplayers. I feel like my community just exploded and I’ve landed on Mars. What happened to grouping people by their home server, guild and friend list? These aren’t my friends, and I have no wish to interact with them. My block list just got a whole lot bigger.

Can we please have the option to go to a different district, like in GW1, or at least have a RP tag so we can meet other folks we have something in common with! I have nothing in common with the people I meet in game now, except for the fact they also play the game, but not the way I do!

If it’s possible it would be great if we could zoom in on our character in the Wardrobe panel, so that we can see the details of masks and other items.

Also, it would be great if we could see our weapons drawn, like in the preview window, so we can see any particle effects.

After finding out that you only get guaranteed Transmutation Charges from completing the 4 main cities, and that any other map completion there’s only a small chance of getting -1- charge, I really wish that each full costume change only cost 1 Charge. For example – no matter if you’re doing everything, including weapons or just a top and a pair of gloves, 1 charge to cover it all would make it more likely for me to change my appearance.

As it is, I have a lvl 30 sylvari wearing the T2 armour. I’d like to keep her look whilst I level, but at the moment every 5 levels I’d be spending 6-8 Transmutation Charges just to keep the same look but with updated stats! I cannot afford to purchase these things from the market, nor do I have enough in-game gold to do it that way either. So, this means I either carry on levelling in whatever hodge-podge stuff I craft/pick up until level 80 when I can re-apply the look I want, or I have to make an alt to farm the Charges ad-nausium.

I’ve already mentioned how I feel about the changes to Town Clothes earlier in the thread, so I won’t repeat myself. I’ve applied for a refund, though I’ll not be using it to buy Transformation Charges.

Since the Megaserver hit I’ve had to start blocking people I got quite upset last night due to random people shouting that roleplay was all about non-consentual physical relations (I won’t actually repeat what was said) and that we were all sick, and how dare we roleplay on ‘their’ server. Also, I’ve no idea where the rest of my RP friends were as we got separated in to different instances.

Language Barrier

Unless ArenaNet plan on implementing Google Translate in to their chat system, I suggest they start grouping people based on their language preferences.

I’m English, and apart from the tiny bit of French I learnt at school over 20 years ago (and mostly forgot), I cannot speak/read/write any other language I’m afraid. I have been laughed at, ridiculed and called names because I can’t speak German or French.

Instead of overflow and home world maps, players will now simply end up in the map that makes the most sense for them, depending on their social environment (party, guild, home world, and more).

I can’t speak/read/write German or French, yet I’m being consistently put on maps with other players that speak it as their first language. How is this “making the most sense” for me? I don’t want to have to say “Hey, I can’t understand you can you speak English please” because it seems like everyone else is fine with it.

I’m trying my best, but as a disabled player I’m finding this very disheartening and upsetting.

So, they take away my individuality when wanting to wear town clothes. I now look like every other player in them.

They take away the Personality Traits, so now I’m no longer a charming rogue, or an unpredictable Mesmer.

And now my Roleplay is no longer possible because my guild mates are in different instances, there’s too much chatter scrolling past to concentrate on, and if I try and ask in Map Chat if there’s any roleplayers about it gets drowned out by trolls, or there are no roleplayers in that particular instance.

All these changes at once have upset me. I’m a disabled gamer and it just feels like I’ve stepped in to a different game. I am not happy. I actually cried when I saw what had happened to my beautiful town clothes. Now I can’t even find roleplayers to RP with :’(

Just adding my voice to the people that really aren’t happy with the Town Clothes changes.

I really don’t agree with or like the tonic idea. I bought separate pieces to mix and match, and dye, with other pieces. I didn’t buy them to suddenly change in to a hideous blue coloured outfit I didn’t want. I don’t like the colour blue! I also hated the black and red of the original outfits, which is why I changed them. People don’t want to look like clones, they want individuality, well at least I do.

It would have been better to keep town clothes as they were, or at least make it so that those pieces that were ported over to armour could also be used by town clothes still.

Also, what happened to the personality bars? Charming etc? Do my characters no longer have personalities to go with their prison uniforms now?

I’ll be applying for a gem refund as soon as they’re available. Unless you can somehow salvage this situation.

I’m more than disappointed with the town clothes tonics. I’ll be applying for a gem refund in due course. I bought them in good faith that I’d be able to mix, match and dye items. Instead I’m now faced with, frankly, disgustingly dyed clothes that don’t look right. I hate blue!

Please can you find a way to bring town clothes back as non-armour, as individual equipable items that can be individually dyed, mix and match sets. Basically, as they were before this patch.

I’m sure I read somewhere that characters who had unlocked traits would not be affected, and only new characters would have to wait till they reached level 30?

I’ve had to change the day of the Piken Square protest to Friday 11th April, due to it clashing with a big RP event. It’ll still be at 7pm GMT in the garden at the centre of Divinity’s Reach.

I want to keep it a peaceful event, with people wearing their best mix and match town clothes outfits, so we can take screenshots. Maybe even do some dancing.

I doubt it will make any difference to ArenaNet’s plans for the clothes, but at least we’ll hopefully get some good screenshots and memories of what our characters used to look like, and have some fun doing it.

I’m a roleplayer, and my private detective character relies on having a horrifically coloured shirt on when he meets clients! Now I won’t be able to colour it.

As for my asura, she loves to dress as an explorer when going to cities, and other relatively safe areas in Tyria. As I understand it, this outfit will not be possible in the new ‘Wardrobe’ system.

I honestly thought this was supposed to be an MMORPG – massively, multiplayer, online roleplay game. Whilst I support the idea of less populated servers getting more people to play with, I really wish that people could choose their own tags instead of some algorithm putting them where it thinks they should be put.

I would welcome having a [RP] tag I could tick for when I wanted to roleplay, or perhaps even a [map] one for when I just want people to help me go around a map.. perhaps even combinations of tags so I can do roleplay whilst I’m wandering around. I just want to be able to roleplay with not only my friends, but random strangers that also roleplay.

I get to meet new and interesting people and act out my characters with other characters. It’s immersive and helps me take my mind of the constant pain I suffer from. I get to meet and talk to the people behind those characters, make new friends that I wouldn’t usually get to make because of my physical condition.

But then, some folks are already a member of the maximum amount of Guilds, so not sure if this is a good idea or not.

Please note that the megaserver system will not change region restrictions, so players will still be grouped by the NA and EU server regions."

I am really worried that as a roleplayer that doesn’t really hang out with that many guilds, and who likes to do map completions, that I’ll get pigeon-holed in to a server that’s just all about doing maps and hearts instead of one with people who I can randomly roleplay with.

Will Roleplayers from Piken Square get put with other Roleplayers? How will this new megaserver system know that we’re roleplayers? There’s no set map that we necessarily hang about on, some of us wander the world and talk to people wherever we go.
