Stop with Shard Farms

I’ve done 3 of the 4 explorable routes (Seer route is bugged, got to the end). I really feel I should be given the shards for 2-3 pieces of armor (assuming I wanted to wear it) after those ordeals, given how difficult and long Arah is. But, it won’t happen. So here’s my proposed solution:

Don’t give shard rewards until you kill Giganticus Lupicus.

See what I did there? I’m a genius, now hire me Anet.

Stunlocking is not fun

I don’t really agree with the argument in this thread. There’s only one actual enemy I’ve encountered in all the dungeons with a genuine stunlock, and that’s Arah. But that’s not the point of this thread:

1) Gravelings have a major tell for their impending stun. They crouch down, they have a yellow aura form around them, then they pounce. Get out of Dodge.

2) Stunbreaker. Use it, then roll away.

Also, as someone else pointed out, the only real issue with them is that if they’ve pinned someone, anyone else approaching in melee will also be pinned and damaged. Kinda lame, but easy to learn what /not/ to do around them.

Simin, High Priestess of Dwayna. Always disappears at half health, regardless of how much health she regenerated during her disappearing phase. We got the sparks in line in ~7 seconds once, she showed up with 60% health. Burst her down, she disappeared again at 50% health. Next time we took a bit longer, she was at 80%-ish health. Repeat damage, she disappears at 50% health again. Sparks bug in pathing the third time – proceed to flip table. Repeat this entire scenario 4x times and you have my ‘This boss is bugged’ claim.

Yeah, the other routes are like that as well. Well, except maybe Seer – idk, it bugged about 5 hours in and I’m not running it again ’til I get 100% confirmation it works.

@Masa: I’ve killed Giganticus after just one wipe (and 4 times to date, leading different PUGs), I’m confident a boss who utilizes health-based regen is no issue. I’ll gladly march in there and prove it once they’ve remedied the buggy rewards. Hate to waste my time. People complain about CoF’s superweapon boss, when the High Priestess of Dwayna is a far larger, more problematic concern.

After looking at the video, seems like a pretty simple fight (no I have not done it myself). As a grenadier engineer, I could see simply dropping 3 poison fields to cull his healing by 33% (he doesn’t seem to move if you don’t run away), then maintaining 10-12 stacks of vulnerability to help progress the damage (stupid Unshakable makes them last half as long). I couldn’t tell if that was just one buff he was getting or not, but throw mine could help strip it (if the buff isn’t protection, I wouldn’t really bother stripping it to be honest). This just seems like many players are undergeared and/or simply not using their class for damage potential to take him down. I’ve only got CoE, CoF, and the Seer route of Arah left to finish as far as dungeons go (that last one was bugged last time I tried it – takes 4-6 hours so I’m not finding out the hard way), and I’m only holding off because these horror stories of the dungeon clears bugging out and giving crap rewards has me sitting patiently. Also ‘cause there won’t be anything left to do in PvE once I clear them.

tl;dr poison = 2/3rds as effective healing.

They just need to add evasion on using it. Right now, if you use it to escape a mob in WvW, 99% chance you’ll get tagged with cripple / chill / etc and suddenly move 5 feet instead of the 900 units it states. In addition, I think if you /are/ chilled or crippled, you move drastically less anyway.

There’s actually a ‘door’ on like, most of the boss fights in Arah. The hard ones, anywho: Giganticus Lupicus has a ~2 minute run in 3/4 of the explorable modes from the nearest waypoint (even longer in the Jotun route). The pirate boss in Arah (Is that what he is?) sets up a wall. The Jotun route’s final boss sets up a flame barrier (like the one the female necromancer set up in AC Story, except it instakills you).

The kicker is that you gain more bag slots by just buying gems with gold, and then buying another bag slot, rather than buying an 18 slot rune. Anyone purchasing an 18/20 slot rune didn’t think things through. They really are grossly overpriced.

If you could keep on buying extra bag slots indefinately you would have a point.

But you cant – once you get to 8 total bag slots, the only way to get more space is bigger bags.

You start off with 4 bag slots. You’d gain 60 inventory spaces by buying slots + 15 slot bags. Around for the price of 2 18-slot runes. I’ve done the longest Arah route up to Simin (who, as of this writing, is bugged), and filled up my inventory around the priest of Grenth.

The other routes seem fine, just the longest & hardest is glitched near the end, which is pretty ridiculous. The forgotten path is likely the shortest (Haven’t tried Jotun, done Mursaat / Forgotten to completion however), but the Mursaat path is pretty dang long as well. Still has nothing on the Seer route though.

Power/Armor/Vit Armor Insignias are uncraftable

All other stat combinations you can find in the game can be crafted except this one, why is that? Why do we have to go to karma vendors (42k in Orr) to pick these up? Any plan to fix this, or is this just something that’s going to get glossed over?

Same here, same spot I was stuck at – Priestess of Dwayna. It’s not even the laughable spark pathing AI, or the buggy recognition of them being in their spheres – she always disappears at 50% health to heal. Every time. One time we got the sparks back to place in about 7-8 seconds? She reappeared at 60% health, we wailed on her, moments later she disappeared again. I guess based on this pretty major problem, she’ll disappear every time at 50% to heal. No way to get her past that. Especially because she gains some buff with a “…” description, letting us know nothing as to how to try and stop it.

Unable to Craft Power/Vitality/Toughness Armor

If the recipe exists, I’m confident I would have figured it out by now. However, if I simply haven’t discovered it, that may be the avenue of issue.

I’m a level 400 leathercrafter who has tried many things, and asked several other max-level armorcrafters. “Doesn’t exist” is what I keep getting. And FYI, you don’t make insignias (the thing that determines the armor’s stats) by combining other crafted components, it’s (at least for exotic): 5 level 400 crafting mats, 5 globs of ecto, 20 gossamer strings (or whatever it is), and.. something else I’m probably forgetting off the top of my head.

I’m wondering if this is a bug, or simply an oversight? I can’t craft armor with Power/Toughness/Vitality, but I can purchase it from karma vendors in Orr, and from the WvW vendors for an exhorbant fee. I don’t think it’s fair we have to shell out packets of 42k karma or a heavily farmed number of badges of honor in order to obtain this unique combination of stats, as the game was founded more with cosmetics being grindy (like the actual skin of the WvW’s Invader armor) rather than the stats. Is there a recipe somewhere in the world I’m not finding, or is it simply intended for us to have to grind endlessly in order to obtain Strength/Vitality/Toughness armor? Thanks.

I went there today on Jade Quarry and was pretty upset I couldn’t get it. Then someone mentioned a Guardian with a staff could fix it – one did show up, used the skill 3-4 times, and it knocked the allied spectral enemy down, and he ended up pathing back to where one could talk to him again. After that, the skill point worked as intended once more. So, there you go. Fix is have a guardian use staff skills on him (it was the wall, not sure what).
