That is what I’m leaning toward Kami. It does seem odd to make a sort of half skill change which it seems they did. Was the current retaliation allowing some crazy exploits or completely destroying others in pvp?
Probably more simply they had these changes ready to push through and didn’t think it would affect Guardians badly enough to hold them off while the other stuff is completed.
I get the feeling they’re either going to make Retaliation into a true damage reflection, or increase it’s scaling.
The issue is going to be with tuning it, and it if becomes true damage reflection then Guardian survivability goes nuts with Aegis, Retaliation, Protection, and several Blinds (not useful on bosses mind you, but on every other fight in the game)
If they increase it’s scaling they need to make sure that they make it worth using, but at the same time make sure that anyone (Guardians aren’t the only ones with Retaliation, we were just the most abusive of it) using it doesn’t flat kill someone. I know we all hate 100B 5 Sig warriors, but buffing Retaliation to the point where any Guardian with Signet of Judgement auto wins vs them is something Anet will want to avoid. Even on our end, could you imagine a high scaling Retaliation on Mesmer clones? If we Whirling Wrath into 3 of them, we would get destroyed if the scaling was off.
I guess the point is, I feel like they changed the abilities involving Retaliation first, and have plans to update the effect later.
Does Retaliation make it so you don't take damage for the duration?

Retaliation is a boon which reflects some incoming damage back to its source. Damage returned is fixed per level and scales with power, increasing damage by 1 for every 13.4 power. At level 80, base damage is 267.

I didn’t know you could see enemy commanders, it would sure help me with my targeting in the future!
If someone can see the icon, I need to turn mine off!
I saw a different PD Commander (Tharyn?) in SoR Borderlands yesterday. My guild and yours worked together to take the Bay keep and the orb.
Epic moment:
Trebbing the inner wall, push back SoR a couple times, suddenly SE attacks us from behind, and SoR attacks from the front both with 10-30 players (wasn’t in a position to count), and we still managed to win and defend most of our seige equipment as well as take the keep.
It may not be the same level of coordination that SoR had this week to win the entire fight, but it was a ton of fun.
I’m a Guardian.
I run with all kinds of classes.
I use a Hammer and Greatsword in my current build, which buff the symbols they lay down.
I’m not above working with classes to get combos to work. Communication is key. If a water Elementalist wants to lay down water fields for a blast finisher for the heal, not only will I move my fields, I’ll supply a second blast finisher.
Teamwork. It’s how we should do things.
lol he was shooting arrows from below the lord and when that wasn’t working he ran out and pulled the lord to the bottom wall where he entered, and the lord stood there for 10 minutes while he tryed that way. We did manage to get his name.# and make an in-game report. I was only able to watch him running back in with the lord on his tail, others managed to click on him to right click report and get his name. His guild tag was something like “Tethis” or “Thetis”.
The only guild I know with a name similar to that on DH is Rethesis, who have been posting in this thread.
Here are a few screenshots of another epic assault by 20-30 Darkhaven.
The pro Darkhaven ranger managed to get very close to killing him many times if not for about 10 of us using heals on the lord to undo his hard work.It took about 20 minutes before the darkhaven zerg showed up after the ranger was most likely calling for them to come secure the keep after he ninjas it. The front of the keep then became a rally point for Darkhaven while 90% of the handful of Sanctum defenders were too focused on healing the lord and trying to get rid of the ranger in our keep. Eventually they hopped on the door due to the rangers failure inside and with no one being able to focus on defending they eventually busted down the door and proudly took the tower with many emotes to show their joy.
Did you catch a guild tag?
Also a couple DH guilds are transferring to SoR now =/
DH got together and accomplished stuff on SoR Borderlands! It’s the start of something beautiful!
I found one issue with empowering might, Anytime I crit multiple enemies at once,(whirling wrath) It doesn’t give me the amount of might buffs to the amount of crits I landed. This a bug?
1 Second Internal Cooldown.
Last 3 groups I’ve run in CoF we’ve done it by killing adds up until about 70%, at which point we revert to kiting. Success every time, no suicide train.
People need to learn to play better, if you need to exploit it, it’s because you suck.
You guys may not know me, but I’m Jonlo from Getof Fenris. I don’t tend to lead as much as I try and provide strategy to my guild, and have others lead in my place. Recently we recruited Thigh Bruiser as a Commander because we were having insane issues with people arguing with GoF about things going on in a map. Notably on Friday we broke through one of the Bay keeps outer wall, but half the people left to attack a Supply Depot with another commander across to map to score points.
I am a huge advocate for get the orbs to win, but I keep seeing people wanting to farm Karma and “score points” not realizing that if you don’t hold the points, you don’t get them at the tally time.
Even last night we tried to lead a charge on SoR in SE Borderlands, so we took Crag, so we could attack Garrison. The idea being that Garrison can lay seige to the Bay with Trebs and we can work on the orb. A bunch of people on the map wanted to push Bluebriar because it’s closer to the Bay, not understanding that it’s right outside of SoRs spawn, and all that’s going to do is kick the Hornet’s nest.
Long story short, we got the inner Garrison gate to about 30% but not enough people showed up and SoR easily pushed us out.
In retrospect I have an idea on how to handle this for next time.
Ran CoE Experimental Teleporter path.
Accidentally teleported out of the dungeon before accepting my quest reward.
Got 1 token, no exp, no silver.
Showed 60 tokens+exp and silver before stepping on the teleporter.
It was the Chantry of Secrets
