I hope that “Guild missions will be taking place in Southsun Cove” doesn’t mean ONLY in Southsun Cove.
The way they worded it in MMORPG.com’s interview was far different: “Effectively, this system allows guilds to literally create content across the world for everyone to experience. When one of these missions is created, often times you’ll see a banner with the guilds name and emblem that created the content.”
I don’t think restricting missions to Southsun Cove is going to be a particularly engaging or useful as recruiting tool for everyone, given that SSC is a level 80 zone that is fairly impossible to just “happen upon”.
Hope that’s not really an accurate interpretation of what was said – otherwise, that’s highly disappointing.
Guild missions trigger scaling to 80, maybe?
For the orange swords:
Could also mean 25 people combined. If 2 13 man groups bump into each other, that could trigger it, too.
Sword Wave and Battle Presence being fixed are huge for me.
Learn to react to an invis enemy within 1.5s… seems fair and balanced.
(video snip)
^in sPvP for that added balance.
(not my vid)
A 1.5 sec reaction time is horrifically slow. Almost unnatural.
Report as a bug. Sometimes things break.
I never played GW1 but was reading up on the lore behind the race called the Mursaat. Apparently they were a bunch of jerks that ran Kryta for a bit until some heroes became Ascended, and got some infused armor to help against their agonizing attacks.
Fast forward to GW2, and we have the fractals. We all know the routine, get Ascended gear, and infuse it with agony resistance to survive the attacks of bosses. Sounds familiar.
But where do the fractals come from? They’ve been described as alternate dimensions or universes or moments in history. They’re a mystery. Another world.
If you run Path 2 of Arah on Explorer, you find out that the remaining Mursaat entered another dimension when the dragons awoke. They took their ball and went home, as it were. What if that home is the Fractals, and we caught them in the act of trying to alter history (Uncatagorized and Ascalon) or being evil (Cliffside, Grawl, Underwater). Do you think that Fractals may lead to us discovering where the Mursaat went and fighting them again?
Think Robert posted 2 weeks ago saying this was getting fixed in the January patch and ranger/necro/mesmer pets/summons will no longer get targeted
This is the correct response. It’s something that’s supposed to be fixed in the Jan update.

Something like this should work for you I suppose. Knight’s Gear might be best.
Knights would often carry maces and hammers into battle, as they are much more effective against an armored opponent than a bladed weapon.
This is true. Blade can’t cut armor, but a hammer sure can crush it. There’s a lot more force with a hammer, so if you hit, you’d most likely break something, armor or not.
I was thinking that I could use my expertise to help people deal Lupicus in Path 1.
Unfortunately I was very quickly booted on first phase of Lupicus because of meleeing. Fortunately I was the instance owner.
Some people in this game just don’t think bosses can be done in melee. It’s a shame they lost out on someone who knows the fight better than them.
1) Healing is a bad stat. You can be effective support without it. It doesn’t scale well with almost any ability, and the sacrifice you make to get it isn’t worth it compared to other stats.
2) Support isn’t just a Guardian role, nor should you strictly define yourself as such.
3) Guardians can support and maintain good damage. It’s better to do it this way because you will never be able to out heal a fight. CC and Boons>Massive amounts of healing.
It definitely is more skill than luck for almost every fight in the game. Knowing a fight inside and out makes all the difference.
Every boss gives visual and sometimes audio queues for their dangerous attacks. On Story Mode the bosses even say what abilities you can expect from them to form a general strategy before you start.
One issue I find is that people blow through their dodge rolls too quickly on a lot of fights. Positioning can make all the difference, and so can having other defensive skills that give you blocks, or more dodges, or just stop the attack outright. Very few fights in the game would I consider unfair in any way. SE path 1 gauntlet and Simin in Arah Path 4 are probably the only 2 fights that are actually super difficult.
Yeah, he could have typed an answer in the amount of time it took to tell us that he wasn’t going to but sure.
ANet always prefers somethings to be left for research by players. And some players love figuring that stuff out and posting it on the wiki. So, he “could have,” but I’m glad he chose to leave it up to us.
Walk into each dungeon with a weapon from AC. It’ll be figured out real quick, since the AC weapons only glow at night.
Thanks, Rob! Now I won’t feel so bad bringing my Necromancer out against GL!
If you want something else to look at in this regard, check out Subject Alpha. I’ve noticed that a couple of his skills seem to spawn excess red rings of AOE death for each summon around, unfairly restricting those builds against him when he uses them. It’s tough to verify for sure, though, because he spawns a ton of those rings, but so long as you look into it and check one way or the other will be good enough. Thanks again!
The ring that SA spawns is on everyone, including the NPC, and all pets.
Ran it once with a Mesmer, Ranger and Necromancer. As a melee Guardian, I was lucky to not die.
I would change Torch skills recharge faster to almost anything else since you’re not using a torch in this build.
Bad link on build !!!!
Use copy+paste.
While ago i started guardian myself.
And man. Biggest mistake i’ve ever done was to go zeal for power.
It’s the truly worst tree u can spec into. it’s just bad end of discussion.
It doesn’t give you anything good.I retraited early at 20 lvl for prec/crit dmg build and put 3/3 power/prec runes.
Crit rate was incredible as dmg was too. things died so fast.
watch some of youtube builds. Noone takes zeal cause it suck for guardian. just sin’t worth that 300 power or even 100.
The amount of good traits you get in other trait lines are just to good.
Now I can take up to 10 mobs of my lvl and still get out of combat with full hp :>10 pts to Zeal for 10% damage while burning is nice.
No not really. cause most of our pasive burns go from 1s to max 5 ( active virtue ). the dmg gain is not realiable
this is worth when ur taking full condi build with + condi durations
Or you could look at it as if you hit Justice, your entire group applies a burn and the duration stacks to 25 immediately.

Hello everyone,
I noticed that Blind Exposure was doing some strange things, and decided to test my observations on groups of five Risen, each pulled with Binding Blade to me.
When activating Virtue of Justice (traited into Justice is Blind), which applies blinds nearby foes, every foe would get blinded, and three stacks of Vulnerability, no more or less every time I tested it.
However, when I used Leap of Faith, each foe would become Blind, as well as receive 15 stacks of Vulnerability, three for each blind applied to nearby enemies.
Is this intended, is VoJ broken, is LoF broken, am I missing something, or what?
Sounds like Leap of Faith is broken. Bug in our favor!
No, combo finishers from other players work, too.
Combo fields are never useless in the hands of a team that use them.
I like it. Mainly because my build is full support, and I don’t really need to use #6 at all, even in WvW 90% of the time. So I just use my heal skill right after Empower /Justice to give me and my closest friends 18 might and fury.
The question is should I stick with Clerics or go to Giver’s.
Fury increasing crit chance; trait that gives allies might when I crit, tons of might already. Yeah, I’m just an altruistic sonofakitten.
So my opinion is I love it. But then again, I have 3 armor sets already, one for each of the major builds I run. So it’s not like I’m stuck on this rune choice forever.
Stick with Clerics I would think.
I think the max is 101% (111% if you’re a warrior or mesmer)
6% from Givers armor
30% from 30 Virtues
15% from 2 Superior Water Runes
15% from 2 Superior Monk Runes
10% from 2 Major Monk or Sanctuary Runes
5% from having Exquisite Snowflakes in each jewlery slot upgrade slot.
20% from Omnomnom Berry Chocolate Cream
I got a Juggernaut.

Don’t regret it one bit.
^ Rune of Lyssa doesn’t work with Guardian tomes.
That’s incorrect, it DOES work, but the rune triggers when the effects of an Elite Skill end, rather than when you trigger it.
The reason it works with Renewed Focus is that it’s only a 3 second immunity, so you go immune for 3 seconds, then clear all conditions and gain all boons.
With the Tomes, you’re waiting 20 seconds for it to trigger.
Turn off auto-target in the options menu.
I agree. Turning off auto target and melee assist is so useful. Melee assist being on drives me nuts.
Might as well start making a warrior seeing as they get no nerfs, more buffs, strong range attacks, shout heals, sounds legit.
I’d suggest that. It seems that Guardian isn’t the class for you.
So the new combat style is roll to death?
I was under permavigor even before this patch, so i really dont where is this Dodge buff! But i clearly see the HUGE nerf to the AH build. 70\80 hp every 5 seconds, from VP is just kitten.
im asking for a compromise, with the old VP on multitarget you can just tank without rolling(1000+ heals per sec), but with a vigor tick effect that can assure you 5 tick of vigor with 5 seconds CD to refresh the effect, the healing effect is surely nerfed, but a lot less then NOW.
So is Vigor your only source of Boons or something? I use Shouts, and Virtues, and Strength Runes and Sigils. And Empowering Might.
I haven’t noticed a change in my survivability at all. In game hasn’t changed much for me. It feels like this is being blown out of proportion because of how it looks on paper.
Do you have screenshots of the weapons you’re testing this with?
Does it happen with other MH/OH combos?
Actually Scepter DID get buffed. The immobilize applies more stacks of vulnerability now. In fact, if you go into the Zeal tree, the immobilize will put up 8 stacks of vulnerability.
It may not be the buff everyone wanted, but it is a buff. I’m trying to work a zeal/radiance build for a heavy spike. Focus blind and Scepter immobilize into Sword Teleport then Virtue of Justice and Zealot’s Defense. If you’re quick enough, you’re looking at a 35% damage boost on the attacks.
Its still worthless.
And I don’t know why people make posts asking why stuff was changed. Anet doesn’t care, they don’t read the guardian forums at all. And even if they did, its unlikely that they would change anything based upon our feedback.
So far:
Great sword nerfed.
Now AH nerfed.
What is next? I can’t even guess since the other options aren’t very good.
There’s a post from Jon Peters from LAST WEEK answering a question about Faithful Strike, so don’t give me that “Woe is me the devs hate us” crap.
Learn to adapt to changes in the game.
Dwayna or Balthazar.
I’m trying to see if I can get a working Symbol build up and running. I have the basic traits laid out:
http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#mccM0z9cmRhnmmRhnmpa0xVMzocka
While the hammer is a locked in weapon for this build, I was debating on the value of the Greatsword. I was wondering if maybe a Sword+Focus might be a better choice to give me some burst damage. I’ll break down some choices below:
Traits
Zeal: Picking up increased damage and vulnerability traits. Binding Jeopardy is now 3 stacks of Vulnerability, up from 1. You mix in Symbolic Exposure and Blind Exposure and they’re at 8+ stacks of Vulnerability pretty quickly.
Radiance: Same as above, some blind, and more Vulnerability.
Honor: Picking up all the Symbol traits.
Virtues: 5 points in virtues is hard to give up. It’s very powerful.
Skills
Signet of Resolve: It’s a big heal, and some condition removal.
Shelter: Also a good choice as it provides an uninterruptable heal, and if you’re under heavy attack, the damage it can block will MORE than make up for the smaller heal.
Signet of Wrath: This is being used for the immobilize. Vulnerability+Keep targets in the symbols.
Judge’s Intervention: Can be cast while casting other spells, letting you lay Ring of Warding much more successfully. Also a Stun breaker.
Bane Signet: I’m considering using this for the knockdown. Mixing it with Ring of Warding, Banish, and Binding Blade to keep enemies trapped. I’d replace JI with it.
Signet of Judgment: I feel that it’s needed in a build that is sorely lacking in defensive options.
Weapons
Hammer: Consistent Symbol from the auto attack, and an immobilize. Using Ring of Warding (When it doesn’t bug out) keeps your target in your Symbols.
Possible 2nd Weapons
Greatsword: Another symbol, and a pull, and another blind. This weapon seems like a great choice for this build.
Sword+Focus: 2 Blinds, and high burst would make this a great finishers choice.
Scepter: 8 Stacks of Vulnerability from the immobilize alone. A great midrange choice for the build, but ultimately not the greatest damage.
Staff: Another symbol, and one that can be used at range, no less. I’d use this with a Scepter when defending a keep from the wall, or as a support style of the build from the back.
Mace: Another Symbol, but lacks synergy otherwise. Would pass.
Shield: Hammer provides a better protection option, and Shield of Absorption pushes away instead of keeping enemies trapped.
Sigils, Runes, and stats
If I take the Bane signet over JI I was thinking about how the Impact Signet might be good (10% more damage to knocked down or stunned foes) Other than that, I’m at a complete loss for runes/sigils/stats. I’ve been thinking of increased boon duration (specifically protection or might) for runes, and I’m trying to think if I would want a mix of Knight’s/Koda healing (precision/healing/vit)/Cleric’s gear for this.
I’d like to get the community’s thoughts on if this build is something that can be fleshed out.
IIRC Spirit Weapons aren’t affected by Power, so Precision I guess would be best.
I will assume you are speaking about Giganticus, since he’s the most common cause of oneshot attacks. To begin with, none of his attacks will oneshot a properly specced and geared character, you know, one of the things stated by Arenanet as needed for completing explorables.
Asking PUG to buy specific gear and going to respec for a single boss in a single instance. Way to go.
More like asking a PuG to know how to play the game.
Time to update the wiki!
Any pve element in WvW should serve a purpose in the battle.
Letting the Grub, Spirit tree or harpy drop a possible siege plan isn’t enough.
It should be like the ogres, Hylek, dredge etc: it should have a direct effect on the battle.
Let the Grub damage walls nearby, let the Spirit stomp Speldan and mendans… whatever, let it have some effect in the battle.
These things draw players away, while at the same time you can’t blame players for doing what the dev’s put there in the first place.
Add bonuses when they are killed, bonuses that matter, have them drop supplies for each tower you hold, or whatever… just do something.
I like this. Have the PvE events have an effect in PvP.
Had fun today trying to defend Bay in our (DB) BL from DH (epp? guild). I swear I hit one guardian 8 times with a canon only to see his health only drop to 75%. Arrow carts seemed to have no effect on anyone. Great coordination and support of each other. I really like the prolonged battles no matter how they turn out.
If it was a human Guardian that was dancing as you fired the cannons. That was me.
http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#mccM0oM9MMNGvmMNGvm0fxGVoVoqMR08kin70V7kGo70V7owX
My version of the build. Strength Sigils and runes to help stack the Might. Shelter for Might on Block (Valor 25 pts)
15 points in Radiance gives you the Renewed Justice that as you kill people, it refreshes, letting you stack more and more might.
in all mmos, guardians/templars/paladins have been my staple class, here is no different, guardian is my stapple class, however, the iconic figure for me has always been sword and shield and if there is backup, a greatsword (starting from aion days), but here in GW2, its a bit different, my staple weapons are the greatsword, and back up scepter and shield.
i dont have too much of a problem with the shield skill, the 4th skill is quite handy when used well (i used to use it as a damage dealer), and the 5th is godly when facing ranged attacks or ranged situations (i proudly look at you arah path with the multi shooting lights), its just knowing when to use them
however, i would happily switch the 4th skill for the warriors shield skill where they block all damage for a few seconds…i do find the sword a bit lacking in the damage variety skills, but thats just me i guess since others find it nice i think
Sword is the highest single target damage weapon we have.
The Shield is a group protection tool, the Focus is a self protection tool.
Even the Focus’s 4 ability, the only thing that would provide any kind of group protection with a blind, is severely limited on most champs or legendary mobs.
The shield is an excellent tool in every game mode, once you get used to using it.
Yes it benefits from healing power.
All Symbols benefit from all traits relating to Symbols.
Why wouldn’t they?
Let’s take a realistic look at this match-up considering strategy and not emotion.
The only servers with a chance for first are DH and DB. No matter what NSP does, it will still come in third by the end of the week. So I can’t really fault NSP for just being downright annoying toward whomever they hate. Some of DH’s players are doing a pretty good job at provoking their wrath through the forums.
For the other two servers, DB gets most of its points from capping everything in the middle of the night and the fact that there is little decent resistance to take it back until midday. The only way for DH to overcome that is to push themselves and take as many points as possible during NA primetime and hold it until DB’s night crew shows up. Now that DB has a decent NA primetime presence, this task is nearly insurmountable and a lot of DH is burnt out from the previous two weeks. It also doesn’t help that DB’s night crew is pretty good, even though it’s mostly PvDoor.
This is also my predicted outcome of the matchup.
In the short term, I just have fun with my guild, fighting for keeps and towers when we can, and not being too worried about who we’re fighting. Next week is another match.
Easiest fix for the GS issue: turn off Melee assist. It will help immensely.
AH is better for dungeons and large group play.
MF is better for soloing, and sPvP.
Basically AH gives great group buffs, while MF is a bit more DPS and greedy. It’s a playstyle choice.
This proc is intended for having the Burning condition applied to you, not for the visual effect of this torch skill.
Then please, please PLEASE change the flavor text in the tool tip. Say we are “wreathed in flame” or some similar verbage that suggests we are going to have a blue-white fire aura, but not be personally ignited/BURNING. Honestly, the way it was phrased seemed to specifically call out that it would proc the trait… Tooltip change and it all goes away – pretty painless I would hope.
I got to level 40, and was a bit dumbfounded the interaction my torch had been teasing me with since level 2 in fact did nothing.
I like this solution. You’re a level headed guy.
Boy did someone in my guild look embarrassed when NSP ninja’d the east keep in NSP borderlands last night. Fail scouting on our part. T_T
The new video doesn’t have the link. Currently someone new to your build would have to view the video, then view your other video to find your link.
It’s good practice that if you’re going to start a new thread about a build, even if it’s one you’ve made a thread about before, to post a link to the build so anyone new to the build can see it without fishing for it.
