Yes I first noticed the issue using the generic drivers that came with install. I installed Logitech drivers in an attempt to fix the issue and have had no change.
Update for any interested the scrolling in the UI works fine in the Mac Beta client. Just not in the bootcamp partition…
So I tried the “Tech Support” forum https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Mouse-Wheel-Not-Scrolling-UI-Boxes/first#post3798059 to no avail.
I am using a rMBP late 2013 15" all the bells and whistles in my sig
I installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 using the bootcamp utility. Windows is up to date.
I have disables the multitouch trackpad in Windows by disabling it in the driver menus. I am using a wireless USB Logitech G602 I have the log tech gaming software and the Logitech drivers. The only other application installed on Windows is Teamspeak 3.
Sorry for the long winded set up. My issue is that the mouse wheel does not scroll the UI boxes IE Inventory, Bank, Hero Panel. And this is VERY frustrating. I have tried re-installing drivers deleting the temp GW2 files, Turning the Mouse off and on again unplugging it. The mouse wheel does correctly scroll the camera zoom in and out., and all other button on the mouse function correctly. I am at wits end here!
Has anyone else encountered this using BootCamp or does anyone know how to resolve this issue?
PS: My brother using a late 2012 rMBP with win7 also using a Logitech G602 also has the same issue.
Just wanted to check back in my mouse scroll works with some UI menus if it is just the right place but seeems inconsistant. I really want to know if anyone else is experiencing this issue or knows a fix other that trying to update my drivers…
I’ve installed the Logitech gaming sofware and Logitech drivers, no change. Disabled the trackpad and deleted the local.dat file and again no change. My brother who has the same computer and OS also has this issue. I appreciate the advice but it didn’t work . Any other ideas would be appreciated.
I have a very odd error. My mouse wheel will not scroll the UI bars in boxes such as inventory bank, chat, options menu. The scroll wheel works fine to move the camera FOV but will not budge menu items. It started with a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate x64 I’m using a logitech g602 and have had no issues in any other applications.
Is there a setting that can fix this or does anyone know if it’s a driver issue?
Heh I gave up on mac client I’m installing windows 7 bootcamp, I hate that I’ve been driven to this, sooooo kittened
My machines stats are in my sig, I run on I run my setting at what the attachment shows and usually it runs quite well. I get 35-60 FPS doing regular PvE or Dungeons and 15-35 in WvW or World events depending on where what and how big the zerg is.
Ditto above I’ve only noticed it recently ( since Battle For Lions Arch update) I’m really hoping the horrendously sloppy Mac support and QA means they have a closet OpenGL client in the works. Then again I have also been hoping that sylvari will get canned and players can be Quaggans Tengu or Kodans and we all know that that’ll never happen.
if they hold true to form for other hotfixen, it’s usually the next afternoon (not counting the goat rope that the last LS update was… that was way more hotfixin’ than usual)
Here’s the thing they already said they identified the issue, they have a legion of programmers in fact they are still hiring more last I heard, and many ArenaNet employees are avid Mac users. They have the resources to fix this in a matter of hours tops. And we all know if it was a windows issue it would have been hot fixed last night within 45 mins of launch.
I wonder if it would be more effect to go over ArenaNet’s head and communicate with NCSoft the parent company and say hey, you guys are losing money because blah blah bad PR and blah blah bad Mac client blah blah Beta test for over a year blah blah 9 months to make gemstore work. You get the idea
Also any petition for native clients I will agree to sign. I know letters are good but does anyone know how to start an E-Petition?
Does anyone else feel like their FPS has declined since the patch first hit. I feel like I was getting +10-15 FPS in Living Story LA when the patch first hit now it seems almost like it was before… I haven’t had any extra apps open and I usually restart my machine before running Guild Wars ( it seems to help make Gem Store and such run better). I’ve optimized my cider config for my video card. Just curious if it’s just me or if it’s real…
It depends on the settings you use, with medium settings at 1440×900 you should get acceptable (between 20-40) FPS I say should you may have to tweak your graphics settings just so i.e.. drop shaders to low but you can have big animation and post processing. But as with all Macs beware the zergs your FPS will drop to 10-25 in a zerg.
PS: This is an educated guess based on my Mac’s performance and what other people have posted
My MacBookPro gets pretty toasty playing GW2 as well I think it’s less to do with how much process the game uses other very processor and graphics heavy games or programs never get my machine as hot as Guild Wars. I think it’s bad utilization somewhere in either Cider or Guild Wars II it may be Guild Wars II doesn’t like running as a 32 bit process and that’s the environment Cider simulates. Also Guild Wars II is optimized for multi-core processors I don’t know how many cores Cider lets you use.
Just my thoughts I’m no expert here
Even on top of the line brand new macs you get the fps drop in ANY world scale events
I’m using a brand new MacBook Pro and we have a 50mbps connection no hardware reason for issues and it tanks they didn’t test it at all or did test and ignored the problem. Arenanet is turning into the next blizzard $10 for an old armor skin from gw1 and no support get ready for the downward spiral
I feel like they would have mentioned if the patch is coming in today’s update
I think it’s high time to partition up bootcamp….. Stupid windows

Because they’re the only service like this that caters to companies looking to easily bring their game to mac. Moving to 64bit would require them to do work – right now they know they can leave things how they are and not lose a single cent for it – because they’re the only place a company can go unless they’re willing to create their own native OS X client. SO pretty much – transgaming = corporate greed, both Anet and their customers kind of lose out.[/quote]
I understand but it’s still dumb it seems there’s nowhere we can look for support. Unless we get Apple to wave their magic wand and provide a build in Cider Wrapper or one for purchase. Or put something in OSX that forces transgaming to upgrade their software. I know it’s unlikely but software monopolies kitten me off. All any of this does is strengthen Microsoft’s iron grip on gaming, but my computer is for so much more than just that.
I would be willing to start a “Gem Store Purchase Pledge” where we commit to buy $x in gems and post receipts as proof, and request action from Anet
I was really hoping they would have this fix out for the weekend. It’s sad that we have to wait another 4 days before it’s even possible to get the update.
I really wish there was some way the Guild Wars 2 Mac community could show ArenaNet that we are committed to them if they will work WITH us. Plus we can pressure Transgaming to put out a 64bit Cider almost all Intel Mac’s I know of are 64 bit why in the heck are we still running a 32 bit wrapper from Transgaming, and why aren’t they all over the OGL update it’s not like Apple just sprung it on them the other day and said Oh by the way here’s a bunch of new OGL stuff weeee.

There’s my rant for tonight
Please ArenaNet please make this a usable game for us and remember OpenGL works on Windows Mac and Linux making your market even bigger if you update the engine!
It wouldn’t be updating the engine though, it would be completely rewriting it.
I know it it would mean rewriting, but a lot of ArenaNet’s goals require a better engine, we are currently using a heavily modified version of the GW1 engine, and going from DirectX coding to OpenGL coding is a HARD transition and is not fun for the software guys. But in the long run it saves everyone headaches you have 1 version of the game to update across all OS’s it’s as close to universal compatibility as you can get and they can optimize it for longevity so they can use the GW1 expansion pack model in a few years and give us Cantha or Elona back
PS: Props to Gaile for quoting me
Just tested with new (Free Trial) of Crossover in identical settings to mac beta SAME performance Solo areas 30~50 FPS LA 15~25 FPS WVW 20~1 FPS (Or any other large scale events). Side note Crossovers crashed in the middle of Stonemist attack. For now beta is the best VM option as far as I can tell. I agree that it’s something in the base game not the wrapper causing the issue this time. Granted I never really Have good FPS anyways ins zeros or LA
Running Late 2013 rMBP 2.3ghz I7 16gig RAM GeForce 750M 2 gig
I can post my GW2 settings if anyone wants to know.
Please ArenaNet please make this a usable game for us and remember OpenGL works on Windows Mac and Linux making your market even bigger if you update the engine!
I get this error constantly when I open the game the trick of putting GWII into windowed mode clicking out into the desktop then returning to full screen fixes it flawlessly for me somehow….
I’ve been getting the parse “model error” error trying to buy gems for about a month and a half now, missed black lion key sale and a whole bunch of other stuff…..
WvW is fine in a heavy fight at worst drop to 15 FPS and that is like the massive battles, really server lag is my delimiter, this is with my resolution dropped to 2048×1280 I dropped it more to make the interface bigger but it helped performance quite a bit.
I think the engine is gonna need to be redone before they can truly optimize it for Mac
They need to make an expansion pack with a new engine that is native to all OS’s Windows Mac Linux and the new Steam OS (which is a form of Linux). Heck I would pay $50 for just a new engine not even extra content but just the engine, the advantages of this are enormous . They can streamline large world events code the game to handle multi-world battles better and extend the lifespan of the game. Here’s to wishing :P
So and update and a question I’ve been fiddling and the audio still sounds off it’s grainy and low quality sounding. I’ve tried in game settings reinstalled the game, deleted the folder that people say to looked at my computer audio settings tried diff headsets and speakers and have not been able to resolve that. Any hints would be nice.
Also the windows test has been postponed until I get a copy of windows. sorry bro
I will I just have to get a copy of Windows 7 to BootCamp into. When I do I’ll post what I get.
Also I dropped the resolution down 2 itches so the UI wouldn’t be so tiny and my FPS jumped up a bit and I was able to turn up shaders higher. It still looks really crisp at that resolution.
I figured I would post for anyone interested I just got the new MacBook Pro
15" 2.3I7 16gram Nvdia GT750
In OSX 10.0.9 Mavericks I get stable 25-40FPS in mostly maxed Mac available settings I had to turn shaders way down. Also I’m running at the native 2880×1800 resolution.
The audio has an almost digitized sound to it. My headphones sound fine in other apps and with media. Load times are pretty quick under 10secs max.
I’m using a Logitech mx620 (an older mouse) with the native Mac drivers. The buttons all work fine in Guild Wars but I also have the spin issue that’s resolved by going to windowed mode clicking the desktop then putting the game back in normal mode.
I also have the “installer” updates whenever I load the game.
So far no visual anomalies. Other Specs on the machine are almost all out of the box. I did the official Apple updates iTunes pages numbers all that. But I have not downloaded any other drivers emulators or anything of that nature.
If anyone has questions or wants more info just let me know!
Happy Gaming!
