Naked Dungeon Night was hilarious! Definitely making that a regular event.
Tonight is a bit of a social night, with Trivia planned as well as our very first Movie Night! We’ll also be helping members that missed the guild mission yesterday get their commendations in our weekly make-up session.

We’re still taking in new friends! Feel free to PM or mail me in-game with any questions you may have about our guild or the application process!

I am returning after a bit of a break and you seem like the casual guild I’m looking for so I’m quite interested if you have room still. I do have a second guild that has a few good friends in it but our times online don’t mesh to often so I’m looking for another group yo share my adventures with. I’m quite casual a couple hours hear and there though but it seems like you guys know what your doing where I just run around like mad keeping myself occupied haha hope to see you all in game \0

Hey there! Sorry about the late reply, I’ve had a bit of a busy day We definitely do still have room, and we are always accepting new friends! The guild is at 50 members total as of today, with guild activities scheduled each night. We aim to provide activities for every level of experience, from new player to expert, casual to hardcore. We have lots of fun together and would love to have you with us! We also do not require 100% representation, so you will still be able to spend time with your friends in the guild you mentioned as well. To join our community, visit our website (linked in the original post in this thread) and click the “Join [RISE]” tab from the menu there. On that page there will be some instructions as well as our application for membership. Once you’ve filled out the application and submit it, I will review it and follow up with you as well as send you an invite in-game, if your application is accepted. I look forward to your app and to meeting you in-game as well!

That’s hilarious. I love your version. I don’t see anything wrong with it. I think it’s probably more correct than mine. q.q

I’m glad you like it. Your version sounds great too. :)

What amazes me the most is, that you are clicking the notes. I could never do that (I’m too slow)…

Thanks :) I’m not sure why I prefer to click when playing the flute rather than using the keys. I don’t play GW2 that way otherwise. /shrug xD

Also — the whole coordination / spreadsheet / list thing — I was really just joking lol, I think it’d be too much work anyhow, and too serious. I think it’s cool that we both managed to do the same song, since it gives people two different versions of the tabs to choose from. I think mine would be the lazy method…. >.> :)

Edit: Oh right, I almost forgot. I finished putting together Tifa’s Theme from FF7 yesterday, here are the notes and link to video:

(5 2 43 5 2 44323 5 2 43 5 2 443231232)

Seems we have received the same request then (maybe even from the same person? If so, it seems you were faster than me… xD)

Here is my version of it. In my case I utilize both octaves due to staying in the same key. It’s possible that there are errors in the tabs. I have yet to record it and therefore couldn’t crosscheck my tabs with my actual “performance” yet. So if you find something, please let me know so I can correct them.

Final Fantasy 7 – Cosmo Canyon

35 666 568 (121 33 32123 2123) 866 5 8656

RAYTI! We need to coordinate or something hahah, because any song I do for someone you’re going to do twice as well. :P
If the request was on YouTube, it most likely was the same person…. lol. That’s hilarious. I love your version. I don’t see anything wrong with it. I think it’s probably more correct than mine. q.q

I’m back with yet another FF7 song, this time it’s Cosmo Canyon, by request. :D

I still somewhat consider this a work in progress, but everything seems to work so far. If anyone has any corrections, I’d love to see ’em.

I decided that I’d stick with a single octave, I wasn’t really finding any reason to switch between the two, so all of these notes are in one octave (in my video linked below, I use the higher octave). It seems to work in either octave, though.

NOTES:

Hey everyone. Since there seemed to be no sign of the Final Fantasy 7 main theme being posted anywhere for flute, I went ahead and gave it a shot to see if I could figure it out myself. I think I have, and I would like to share it with you all.

I’m going to try my best to follow the format that was discussed in the OP, but if you notice anything off, I have also included a video below in which I recorded a demonstration. Also, where ever there are 2 of the same note in a row, it’s basically a very quick double click (or double tap) to play that same note twice in succession.

Final Fantasy 7 – Main Theme: (UPDATED VERSION BELOW THIS ONE — PLEASE SEE)

1 237 6 12354121 237 6 12354123 3532
(1 237 6 12354121 237 6 1235 413 2 1) 7 8
(34332234 32123 54561 123 34332234 32123 87766 67652234)

UPDATE: I was informed that I was off by one note, here is the correction:
1 237 6 12354121 237 6 12354123 3532
(1 237 6 12354121 237 6 1235 4) 6 (3 2 1) 7 8
(34332234 32123 54561 123 34332234 32123 87766 67652234)

After that you can pretty much repeat the whole thing and that’s just about the FF7 theme. :)

Gem Store Armor Skin's

in Suggestions

Posted by: Kazera.3162

Kazera.3162

I back this idea.

In GW1 I bought a few of the special outfits (I believe the term was ‘costumes’) and I did that because it was an infinite-copy skin that could also be used on all characters if I chose to use it. There was a special NPC you just ran up to and grabbed the skin from and there you go. There was no set amount of times it could be used, and it could be used on any character at any time. I found this very convenient. Now though, these special armor skins in GW2 are $10 per character, the same price you generally paid for a ‘costume’ in GW1. Yet it’s a one-time use skin, you can only use the full outfit on one character (unless you spread the components across a few, but then it’s an incomplete outfit), and once you finalize the application of it, that’s it. You can’t just go and get another copy of it if you change your mind about something. Unless you want to pay another $10. Let’s say I wanted to put the Magitech Armor on my Ranger and Engineer. That would mean $20. I think it’s a silly system in all honesty, it was more fair, reasonable and convenient in GW1. I mean, if it’s making good money and Arena can’t live without it, then I guess that’s not something anyone can argue with. But we can still dream.

Another thing — since all the armor skins are divided according to armor type (ex: light, medium) I’d imagine that if the skins somehow did become renewable and account wide, it’d be only that specific armor type you paid for. It’d be neat to have packages where you can buy all 3 at once, with a slight bulk discount. In GW1 there were packages like that.

I honestly did not bother with any of the armor skins since launch, seeing as it felt like a waste (and I feed the gem store on a regular lol). Not till last night. I purchased the Magitech skin for my Ranger, and I’m basically only using the coat and pants while the headpiece is going to my Engi and I’ve yet to decide about the rest. In that regard, it’s alright, but it’d be nice to know that I’d be able to pick all pieces up on another medium-armor wearer without paying $10 again.

If I described both Fractals to a child, they’d easily choose Abaddon. That’s how simple this really should be.

That explains why the support for Evon has been so fervent. :P

Oh you’re so funny. /clap

I’d also like to point out that the Bonus Mission Pack in GW1 was one of the most brilliant things that Arena ever gave us. I enjoyed it thoroughly, as did many others. It brought us back to important times in history we had only previously heard about, but never saw anything for. In addition I found the gameplay pretty fun. If the retelling of events past was not criticized back then, why is it now?

Because we weren’t forced to choose 1 or the other. With the BMP, we could freely decide which one to play with, while having the option to play the others.

With what we have right now we do, Abaddon OR Thaumanova.

With the BMP we could do, Togo and Ossa and Gwen and Saul D’Alessio.

Honestly, if we could get both fractals, that would me me very happy.

Edit: And yes, I do agree that the BMP is probably one of the best inventions Anet tossed at us. I mean more lore, good history, AND Nice skins with max stat weapons? Who DOESN’T want that? :)

Yes! :) If Arena brought us something like the BMP in GW2, I would be thrilled.

Hell i’d choose abaddon if you explained it to me the way you explain the abaddon fractal with no knowledge coming in.

Would you rather have the insanely epic fight against a god; or some boring inquest kitten that we’ve seen a million times?

Just because you talk about it and make it sound exciting and the other one like complete crap doesn’t make it proof of anything. Here I can do it too.

Would you rather see some guy who we already know dies, die, or would you like to explore a high tech dungeon that blew up and is tearing the very fabric of reality in pieces with its aftermath?

Us Kiel supporters just don’t blow up the facts to make ourselves look better. No one can say for sure what was in the thaumanova reactor is, we don’t know. As opposed to abaddon which, while we don’t know all of, we have a basic idea of. There could be anything in the thaumanova reactor, if you don’t convince yourself it’s crap ahead of time. It’s harder to come up with an argument for the thaumanova reactor because it’s new lore that we don’t know. But it’s new lore. You people vote for Evon, and then you’re the same people that complain that GW2 has no new lore it’s introducing even though you tell anet you just want them to explain what’s already there.

That’s really what we’re voting on, which direction do we want the game to go in? Do we want new lore that could be anything and further the world, or do we want to further explain old lore that hasn’t really been expanded upon?

Correction: He doesn’t die in the Fall of Abaddon.

And just because it’s not new lore doesn’t mean it’s not pertinent to the present-day in GW2. I think it’s very pertinent and putting Abaddon in GW2 gives the person who never played GW1 some idea as to why things happened the way they did, events that clearly affect the GW2 we know now.

The Reactor might have scarce details, but I cannot imagine it looking or even playing any differently than the type of Asuran tech we have already witnessed, in both games. I personally don’t want to see more of that, if it means discarding the idea of seeing a war of the gods 1000 years prior to GW1’s storyline.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to see key points in Tyrian history. Nothing. Guess what else we never got to see? The founding of Ebonhawke. You’d think that with such important key characters as Gwen and Keiran and the Ebon Vanguard, we should be able to see what they endured when they were sent south. There are plenty more just like that, events that we never actually got to witness, or even see something like concept art.

Here’s some of the facts:
TLDR:
The 4 weeks doesn’t truly matter. Deals a deal, vote for what truly counts. Permanent Content
Abbadon: We get to see new stuff, discover things we’ll never see again since they’re in the past. Including a God. King Doric. And the Crystal Sea.
Reactor: Seeing the same stuff, and seeing things that will eventually get explained no matter what.

Your “facts” seem to be nothing but an awful lot of speculation.

Here’s a real “fact” :

..I’m hoping for Kiel. But I have a vested interest because my team will probably be working on the fractals. I had nothing to do with this content though.

To shed some light on my bias, our team brainstormed up a bunch of fractals for you guys to pick from and then we settled on the best two. I got pretty excited about Thaumanova, given what we intend for it to entail so I’m Kiel supporter all the way.

Abbadon will also be great if Evon wins though.

Sorry, but he sounds way more excited about the Thaumanova Reactor. I like the obligatory consolation prize pep-talk about Abbadon at the end.

You crack me up. You quoted this one dev to me and now to this fellow. That’s not a fact. That’s an opinion. The players are deciding what is going to happen, not that dev. Your ONLY argument against anyone advocating why Evon is the better choice is this dev’s quote.

Oh, and as for your “lot of speculation” thing. That post is actually full of real hard facts. Not speculation. And based on what we know about the lore of both the reactor and Abaddon, that is probably one of the best arguments anyone’s laid forth in this thread thus far.

You’ve managed to completely miss the point.

Nobody is arguing that we know something about the lore of both the reactor and Abaddon. What you have zero clue about, however, is what a fractal instance on either would entail. Any assumptions about either is speculation.

What we do actually know for a fact is that one of the developers that will be working on the fractals is “..pretty excited about Thaumanova, given what (they) intend for it to entail..”.

So, you can sit there and write a 50 page case study on why you believe “fractal reactor = yawn” and “fractal Abaddon = best thing since sliced bread”, but in the end you’re just speculating (with great bias, I might add) and not putting forth anything factual. In fact, such speculation flies completely in the fact of the one fact you do actually have about these two fractals: that a developer is pretty excited about their plans for a Thaumanova fractal, describing it as one of the two best ideas they’ve come up with for new fractals.

If that to you screams “yawn”, then you’re being a) silly and b) ridiculously biased. Try making an argument that doesn’t involve spinning opinions as facts.

Okay buddy, but guess what, that’s ONE developer’s OPINION.
ONE developer.
He might be more excited about the Reactor fractal, but that doesn’t mean that the Abaddon fractal is nothing to be excited about.
Have we heard from another developer comparing the two and stating which they’re more excited about?
Until I actually see some more developers coming out and talking about what THEY think is the better fractal, your argument by using this developer’s words is baseless at best.

And let me just point out that Anthony Ordon was not on the development team during the original Guild Wars, so I feel that naturally he’s not going to be as excited about Abaddon in a Fractal. I mean, it makes sense, doesn’t it?

He was on the team that came up with the idea for both fractals, and favors the reactor over abaddon.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/cutthroat/IMO-ArenaNet-favors-Evon-Unfair/2473277

Yeah. I know that.
He wasn’t on the team that developed Abaddon. That was my point.
So I don’t know what you’re trying to tell me.

Never been a cat person.

It doesnt matter who is on the council, you want exciting epic content that showcases a battle againt a god + possibly u get to see 5 other gods ?

Or

you want a boring reactor with asurans runnign around ?
If you want this choice, go play COE, it already exists in the game.

Lets go for something new, fresh and exiciting like battling Abaddon.
#Vote for Evon!!!!

Abaddon was done in gw1. Either way both of these will more than likely be made in the future its just which one do you want first.

I’m voting for the person that will effect my style of play more and that is mainly between reduced cost of keys or waypoints. Since I do not buy keys take a guess who has my vote.

They are not going to be making both fractals.
It has been stated by Arena staff in a separate election thread.
That is why this is such a passionate topic for people.
Go right ahead and vote Kiel and get your waypoint discounts which really won’t save you that much money, and your complimentary reactor explosion complete with the same general content you can already find in places like CoE. And forfeit seeing Abaddon before he looked the way he did in Nightfall. And possibly seeing the gods. And witnessing the battle that changed Tyria in ways the Reactor explosion can’t even compete with. You really think it’s going to look the same way it did at the end of Nightfall? The Fall of Abaddon takes place roughly 1000 years prior to GW1. Still think it’s all gonna look the same? Or that anything in GW2 even remotely matches up to what we’d probably be seeing? Therefore, it would be fresh content.
If I described both Fractals to a child, they’d easily choose Abaddon. That’s how simple this really should be.

:) But I have a vested interest because my team will probably be working on the fractals.

I mean, it makes sense, doesn’t it? ;)

Evon is the obvious no brainer choice.
Not sure what’s making people vote Kiel, when a reactor explosion is not nearly as cool (or important) as is the rendering of Abaddon in GW2.
If it wasn’t for Abaddon, most of the big events in GW1 would have not even happened.
Which, might I remind, those events make up what GW2 is in many ways.

A reactor explosion that changed the very fabric of Tyria…. you know… the very thing that make up what Gw2 is….

#IStandWithEllen

Hahaha. Show me how that reactor explosion changed as much in Tyria as Abaddon.
Fact is, you can’t. Because Abaddon is the reason why GW1 started like it did and ended like it did, and GW2 is still showing many remnants of his work. The reason why Ascalon is a ruin across the plains, the Titans which the Flame Legion Shamans considered their gods and was also in part responsible for the Charr invasion of the human nations, he was also the reason why Orr sank beneath the waves, the reason why the Jade Sea was literally jade, and you know I can just keep going because there is a LOT more. He was behind the madness in all 3 of the main “campaigns” of GW1 and yet the only time we ever got to SEE him was when we go to battle with him while he is still imprisoned. That to me is not enough. It’s not enough for a lot of people. This is a chance for us to hopefully see him prior to imprisonment and rendered in GW2 graphics, it ought to be awesome. We’ve seen plenty of Inquest tech, labs, etc. We’ve seen a lot of Asuran anything since GW2 started, and even in GW1. Abaddon’s fractal would be something fresh considering it’s going to depict a time far before GW2’s present day, and according to lore there would be gods involved, too. So, bottom line is, fresh content vs content that will look much like what we’ve already been seeing.

I rest my case.

I’m pretty sure ya’ll Evon ppl have nothing to worry about. I can definitely see a “surge” of votes “magically” appearing at the last moment to make Evon win.

That aside…..what are we voting for?

Evon’s impact on the future of gw2? We have no idea what that might be.
Kiel’s impact on the future of gw2? Again no ideas.
Keys? We don’t know the discount, but this will only effect a potion of the players
Way point cost reduction? We don’t know the discount, but this will effect everyone.
Fall of Abaddon fractal…We already know what happens
Reactor Fractal….We have no idea what might happen.

That said….my personal votes go to Kiel for 2 reasons.

1) I will in no way, shape, or form show any support for rng. As soon as I saw rng attached to Evon, my vote was not going there. The current trend in rng implementation is one of the worst parts of this game.

2) Since I already know what happened with Abaddon, I am not as intrigued by it. I already know how it’ll play out, thus it’ll be sorta like replaying the story line again. On the other hand with the reactor fractal, I have no clue. Just from other si-fi as reference, my mind abounds with possibilities. It’ll be a completely new experience. That excites me more.

We do know what happens. The reactor blows up. Chaos magic spews everywhere.
Whoopee.

I don’t care about the “future impact” of Evon winning. It’s a video game. This isn’t a real world election. I don’t care about BLK discounts, but I’m sure there’s plenty who do. I don’t care about waypoint discounts, and anyone who does has got to be dirt poor with like 20s to their name or something. Which is sad.

And the details on the Fall of Abaddon are far more vague than you are making it seem. There wasn’t even so much as concept art depicting this point in GW history. I want to see it materialized.

It’s funny you say “completely new experience” when in reality I’m sure it’s really not going to be that different from what we’ve already seen of Asuran magic and technology.

Oh yay, so let us just vote for yet another Asura themed Fractal/dungeon and kill more golems and mess with security systems and…. yawn.
I don’t know how anyone in their right mind would choose that over the revisiting of one of the most important points in GW history.

Despite the OP, there are actually more people voting for Kiel than Evon because they either:
A) Don’t know what they’re actually voting for and just going with her because she’s a more moral character than Evon…
-or-
B) Do know what they’re voting for and obviously don’t see the value in the Abaddon fractal. Or think they’d really be saving a lot of money by getting a discount on waypoints. Or they have this interesting complex where they “can’t see Evon Gnashblade on the Captain’s Council”. I put that in quotations because this is actually something someone said in-game as their reasoning for voting for Kiel, fully knowing what both candidates were offering.

For me, I can draw the line between fact and fiction. The fact is, Abaddon rendered in GW2 would be fantastic. This election is really about the players more than it is about the living world of GW2. I’m not particularly sure why people are getting so serious about it.

Even if he is slimy, Evon all the way. Gimme dat Abaddon, complete with “You Got Served” antics, plz.

I have no real complaints about your Engineer, I like the scheme you’ve got going. I personally would have chosen a darker blue (especially for gloves), or mixed it up with two different shades of blue, but that’s just me. ;) 8/10

Here is my Warrior, Rayze Emberfury.
The dye scheme is Midnight Ice, Pyre, and Black Cherry.
Armor is T3 with Heritage Warboots… I’ve played with a lot of different combinations but I really prefer this the most.

I appreciate that information, Ilithis! I have a better understanding of what’s probably going on now. Thank you.

So it sounds like I basically need to just work on OCing this thing until I make the move to a newer-gen processor. If I can get this CPU to work well with GW2 I may not worry about upgrading the CPU until the next line is released.
I will look into those coolers you mentioned — although I’m scared to mess with water cooling lol, if I go that route it will be because I convinced a buddy of mine that has worked with that stuff before to help me. :p

Good to know what kind of performance you’re getting with your card, gives me an idea of what to expect from the 660Ti.

Wish I would have known this stuff before building this PC lol, I probably would have coughed up the extra cash for an intel CPU or the 8320/8350. But ah well. Guild Wars 2 really is the only game that I have trouble with so this hardware isn’t a complete loss I suppose.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I’m going to try to OC my CPU, from what I have researched this particular CPU has gotten up to 4.1 GHz (I haven’t seen any higher samples). I can’t begin to OC though until I’ve gotten a good aftermarket cooler. Do you guys have any suggestions for coolers that could work with this CPU? Also, I am definitely going to upgrade the GPU. I’m considering the following cards: Radeon HD 7950 or GeForce GTX 660 Ti.

I read somewhere last night about bottlenecks, and it doesn’t seem like the CPU is bottlenecking, the GPU just seems to be reaching it’s limit. It’s a good card, does a lot better than my previous, but I’m really wanting top performance in GW2.

So I’ve got a new gaming rig since about 2 months ago, but I’m curious as to what kind of performance I should be expecting when running GW2 with this thing. All other games I play run perfectly on highest settings with zero performance issues, but GW2 really tests my configuration. As I’m sure is the case with many players.

First off, here is my build:

AMD FX-8120 ~3.1GHz
Radeon HD 7770
Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3-1600 (4×2; 2 more 4GBs added soon)
Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 AM3+ AMD 970

Will provide other details if needed. Also running Win7 x64.

I run the game with everything on the highest settings except Render Sampling. I also have not tested this configuration in WvW much so I haven’t messed with the WvW settings.

The issues I experience are weird. Some zones I run 50-60+ FPS just fine, but then I go to another map and it’ll drop down to 40 or less. Especially Lion’s Arch. I’m sure that it has something to do with there being more population there, but it certainly shouldn’t be putting me at 10 to 30 FPS… I feel that there’s something I can do to boost this a bit. I’m not familiar with overclocking as this is my first respectable gaming PC, but I was wondering if anyone out there with at least the same CPU as me or similar has OC’d with positive results when it comes to GW2. And is it true that GW2 runs more on CPU than GPU?

I also noticed tonight that if I run the game in windowed mode, or windowed fullscreen, the frames literally appear to skip. Like a stuttering. It’s extremely annoying… if I set it back to fullscreen the problem is gone.

I’m aware that there is apparently an issue with AMD CPUs compared to Intel when running GW2. I accept that, I’m just looking for a way to improve my performance with what I have.

I also am aware my GPU has undergone benchmark tests for GW2 and did somewhat poorly, so I am considering a GPU upgrade, if this would help the problem. I’m open to suggestions.

Does anyone out there have the same or similar build at least when it comes to CPU and GPU and if so, what kind of performance are you getting? I’m also interested in knowing what kind of performance other AMD CPUs are getting as well as the Radeon HD GPUs that are the next up from mine (7800 and 7900 series)… NVIDIA card data is welcome too.

Let’s use Lion’s Arch as a central test subject, lol. That is the one map that I seem to struggle with the most.

Thanks in advance.

The game is not in beta.

I just noticed this happening to me for the first time. Not quite sure what’s causing it, but it sure was open over 12 hours after closing the client when I took a look in Task Manager, with a massive amount of memory being used. If this just started happening to people recently, like it has to me, then I’d suspect the patch on the 28th is to blame. Not really a big deal in retrospect, considering the game has always run wonderfully otherwise. Just a minor annoyance.

GW Beyond content in GW2 would be wonderful. Also, replaying GW1 missions in GW2 would also be really neat, though I can’t think of many reasons why they would create remakes/revamps of already existing missions. Still, it’s a cool concept. :)

Revisiting Key Historical Events

Not sure if this has been brought up already, but here goes nothin’.

As a player of the original Guild Wars (since 2006 may I add), I developed an appreciation for the lore, characters and storylines presented, especially everything having to do with Ascalon. There are some truly nostalgic things ArenaNet has placed into GW2 that I have really enjoyed thus far, but with the advent of Fractals of the Mists and the Ascalon fractal, I have begun to toy with the idea of having either more Fractals visiting key historical events just like that or having something similar to the Bonus Mission Pack in the first Guild Wars.

The biggest thing I want to play through is the timeframe that is mentioned in short detail in the books lying around Ebonhawke (The Founding). It sounds like it would be a really neat flashback to revisit. And I think it would be a proper tribute to Gwen, Keiran and the Ebon Vanguard. Closure, even. Just leaving their story where it stood in the original Guild Wars and just giving us pages to read here and there and having graves to visit in GW2 and a torn up Eye of the North instance doesn’t feel quite finished, if you get my meaning. I’d like to actually visually see that period of time where they were recalled to Ascalon and then deployed to the south, and the battles they then endured against the Charr. Maybe just a battle flashback, or two. Anything would be nice. :)

Just a thought! I’m sure the team has plenty already on their plate and there’s plenty of higher priority things to focus on but I figured I’d try dreaming aloud.

Does anyone else wish to see something like this eventually? Are there any particular events you would be interested in? Would you prefer it be like the BMP, or it be some kind of other setup?

The main thing I want to see is profession-specific armor sets, just like in the original Guild Wars, but having actual re-skins would also be grand. I do miss Obsidian Armor, and the old Elite Gladiator set (although there is something similar currently). I also think it would be neat to see some of the Assassin armor skins brought back. There were some pretty neat skins.

Also, this is kind of off-base, but I’ve always wanted to be able to wear the Ebon Vanguard’s heavy armor skin. It’s just awesome. Historical armor sets please.
