So its fine for you guys to screw the balance over for the rankings just because the minority want to play player versus door from the early hours of the morning? Like, do you have fun smashing doors down with no defence or do you really just enjoy the free karma, xp and gold that you guys are given on a silver platter?

Think it might be the latter if you think about it. If you want meaningful world vs world, give suggestions of how to achieve it for all time zones. As it currently stands, you’re naive if you think that we’re all just “hiding in PvE when the scary late night gamers come out((”.

The purpose of the rankings is so servers like HoD aren’t stuck fighting servers like Kaineng for 2 weeks straight. Not so you can have some super-balanced chess match to work your way up to a higher elo.

It’s not about your ego. Get over it.

Only one warrior ever managed to do it to me, and he had friends. plus they were fully geared glass cannons. and they only pulled it off because i didn’t think they could do it in the first place so I didn’t pop defensive stuff and dodge like i should have. I intended to just eat it. Normally I would have been fine.

You must be kidding, I spent most of my time in EB, when I even could get in, with large forces trying to take Durios and their Quentin tower, which they have locked up tighter than fort knox btw.

Heck most of the time I’ve spent in EB was fighting with them on the south and east side of SM. Either they are pushing us or we are pushing them, or I’m spending all night trebbing their tower from the top of SM.

I find it quite odd that you guys were accused of forming an alliance yet every single time you guys from HoD or SBI post it is nothing but lovely praise, joy, and happiness. You guys are not doing a very good job of defending this accusation and I am not even on JQ.

It’s because SBI puts up a good fight and they do well at holding their positions despite constant attack from us. Whereas JQQ isn’t much trouble to break through.

We fight SBI constantly, the difference is we aren’t able to take their stuff as easily as we are JQQ’s. So JQQ just assumes we aren’t even trying to assault SBI. Which we are, constantly.

SBI has proven to be good competition, I’ve enjoyed my time fighting against them and respect their WvW forces. JQQ isn’t nearly the threat that SBI has been. Mostly large zergs that crumble under any pressure. I’ve noticed that SBI will stand it’s ground and fight more often, where JQQ will just turn tail and run when they see a few of us coming.

to sum it up, AA transfered there and RUIN followed them. So unlike a server like HoD, they haven’t been there winning from day1. They started on Northern Shiverpeaks first. So they had to play catch up. They also probably don’t have as big of an issue in getting all their members into WvW which makes them stronger. Titan does excellent during offpeak hours, but during peak hours, there are so many pugs flooding the queue, they can’t really get much in and be able to do much. So the server suffers during primetime hours. the organization and force just isn’t really there during that time. I don’t think ET has to deal with that problem much. However queues have been getting better recently. they arent 5+ hours like before, now some borderlands are instant most of the day and eb is like an hour or so.

It’s the ultimate noob mentality honestly.

When a noob loses, they blame the game. I mean, it must be the game that’s at fault right? they could never lose because they are so uber mega awesome. So the game must be broken.

When good players lose, they say, why did we lose? and what could we have done better? Then they look for solutions. That’s what the top servers did. They saw a problem, and they solved it. They didn’t blame the game and demand things be changed.

So all you nightcap complainers out there can either stick with the noob mentality and blame the game for your own losses, or accept the fact that you are being beat by servers that are better than yours and work on getting better. Your choice.

Let me try it your way :

Why did we lose? We dont have the same amount of players in wvwvw during the night.

How can we fix it? Find people from other timezones to play. (or have arenanet find a solution, like limiting population according to demand to get in for example, but we dont want any of that, its noob mentality)

So the solution for everyone is, go out find yourself a guild from a different timezone and FORCE them to move to your server! If they dont want to, employ them or kill there familes to get them to come over and help you win in a game!

Just accept the fact that your server is losing to better servers and get over it. Those better servers will move up in the rankings then maybe the next matchup you will cry a little less.

Yeah, I run Power+toughness+healing power on my gear and mix power+vit+crit damage and Power+toughness+healing power on my jewelry and mix some vit and healing power into my weapons.

I’ve got good defense, higher vit than toughness surprisingly, and a ton of healing power. It helps keep me alive and helps with my aoe heals. But it really hurts my damage output.

The thing that sucks though is you really kind of have to do that. Your base health and such is SO incredibly low, that if we do try to build for damage, we are the squishiest thing youd ever see. and our utilities dont lend themselves well to damage and offense. So honestly a lot of that toughness and vit, and healing power I am stacking is just to make up for the complete lack of those stats I get to begin with.

That’s basically how I see it atm. I just stack the defense and just play to my strengths, it’s what im good at. If I go for damage, I get crushed and can’t do anything.

Of course this is from a WvW perspective, where not many can really do melee, and our ranged options are so so so horrible. I hate the scepter and the staff doesn’t have enough range. In PvE, I can do damage just great. Not quite as well as a warrior, who has utilities and elites that just give him like permanent 25 stacks of might and fury, but respectable enough.

WvW wouldn’t be balanced. It’s not “PvP” It was never meant to be. We’ve known this well before launch. I have no idea how this is news to you. It’s epic large scale keep battle siege fights. The only thing that was supposed to be balanced about it was that servers would fight more equally performing servers. That’s obviously not going to happen with the FIRST 1 week match. And the 24 hour matches didn’t tell them anything, no one had time or the interest to even bother upgrading their keeps and towers or buy siege equipment when it was going to reset in a few hours anyways.

If the server is full, you have plenty of people to recruit on your own server. The people playing during the night just need to get organized.

i use staff most of the time. I use it to support when we push. I have the two handed skills reset 20% faster so that helps a lot. I swap to greatsword and bomb people if i get a chance, never if they are in the middle of a pack though. Wall of reflection is beautiful. I use the scepter to try to kill siege from the top of walls. If its like a ballista or something and it needs to go down asap, ill pop my might up with staff, swap to greatsword, pop save yourselves! and virtue of justice to get my might real high jump down judges intervention to the ballista and do as much damage as possible before i go down. staff 3 and retreat to get places quickly, especially when running supplies. i use the shield with the scepter so when i poke out on walls to do damage i take 33% less because of the protection buff i get from shields number 3.

Thats basically how I do it. I’m ttraited 20/10/10/20/10 with runes , II III[i swap III to VII if im going to use the GS soon] II,I,II IX, VI

The Big WvW issue: solution?

The only “Big WvW issue” there is, is that the matchmaking hasn’t been going on long enough for servers to be matched properly. That and people keep transferring around making it so the servers WvW progress never actually stabilizes. And also that the queues are not working properly.

Not “night capping”.

Why are so many people from high population servers defending so hard their obvious advantage? I see these people constantly calling everyone whiners who doesn’t accept their numerical superiority as a challenge rather than the ridiculous balanced problem that it is. I have a feeling these same people who are calling everyone else “whiners” will be here whining when Anet finally does something to negate their unbalanced advantage.

The reason is, our servers know how the game works and adapted to it and worked hard to get to the position we are in. Your servers didn’t which is why they are losing to servers that did. This isn’t the games fault, its your servers fault.

Because our servers solved the problem, rather than begging ArenaNet to come in and solve it for us.

You guys are extremely sore losers and that’s all there is to it. Get better, or get beat. Don’t insult our servers because our servers prepared for a problem yours ignored.

If you can’t win without abusing the fact your server went out of its way to exploit the fact you can outnumber your enemy 100:1, you don’t even deserved to be called competitive. By all means, you’re the worst servers, because you can’t fight on equal footing and you demand to retain your unfair advantage.

We are fighting on nearly equal footing at the top of the bracket thank you very much.

All of the top 4 servers have night teams.

And it’s not exploiting, it’s called looking at the game, seeing its 24/7 and realizing, hey we aren’t all going to be able to play 24 hours per day, maybe we should team up with other people who play at times we don’t?

Honestly it sounds like you guys would rather face opposition that’s as strong as you are, so be happy the teams that are nightcapping are going up the ladder while you are going down. If you want to go up you’ll just be facing stronger and stronger servers along the way.

My god, you simply have no idea. There isent enought servers that are doing this. There is one in eu. So all your fine talk about ladder balanced is all for nothing. THERE SIMPLY ISENT THAT MANY DIFFERENT SERVERS TO PICK FROM.

In this limited server enviroment the thing that you are proposing simply is not possible. if there was 100’s or maby 1000’s of servers, then yes. But there isent, and you need to understand that.

There are 27 EU servers. If your claim that only 1 of them nightcaps is true, then that’s at MOST 2 other servers that have to deal with it.

It’s probably fairly easy to get people to transfer to your dominant server.

The problem is getting a large group of players (large enough to matter) to transfer into your server that’s down by 150,000 points and be your late-night crew. How exactly would you recommend we try selling that one, Keldrath?

Edit: Or should I just transfer to Henge of Denravi and make your queues that much longer?

If the score matters that much to you, fine go to a different server. If you have any server pride you will try to make the one you have work. You really need to lok at it this way. Either you are losing adn you are going to drop to face other servers that lost just as badly as you did and fight in a more balanced matchup in the lower tier. Or you are going to get more points and move up a tier and face other servers that win and have an even harder time trying to win vs servers with better night teams.

Basketball games last a few hours. WvW is on 24/7. Not even close to a fair comparison. The server is winning because it’s a stronger server. Their server has the presence round the clock to keep a point lead over you. Either try to win, or accept your defeat and hope the next rebalance will have you facing another team with a similar night presence to yours. You may not think it makes their players better. but it DOES make their server better.

So you think that everyone should get a nightcrew and run around capping at night? im sorry, not all contries has that high an unemployment rate to support that tactic.

Time zones are a thing you know. and not everyone who works has a 9-5. Also not everyone who is unemployed is awake all night.

Yes. Get a nightcrew. it makes your server stronger. If not, then quit whining and wait till you drop further in the brackets to face servers who have no night team like yourself. The top of the ladder has action 24/7 the top servers have night teams.

WvW standing is about the server. If your server doesn’t have a capable night team that can keep your points up over the nighttime hours, then your server lost it’s points fair and square. It’s judged by how well the server does overall 24/7 not how well it does during your primetime. So get better night teams. WvW doesn’t just take a rest and wait for you to be ready before the games back on.

Lmao. You guys crack me up. For one, when I’m not pulling and raging in /team to get stuff done, I go down there and either camp late at night, or farm the small groups in there. With and without my own siege equipment. I think it’s hilarious.

Also SBI is really one to talk considering 9 times out of 10 they have an arrow cart at spawn that does nothing at all.

Here’s a screenie from tonight, while camping / farming small groups after the puzzle was done, and we had more resources than either of you. Quit crying about sucking at small pvp / world pvp and do something about it. In the puzzle HoD can’t save you. Outside..they can.

…lol truce..lmao so sad.

Also you HoD Female Thief from the [SoA] tag. You are freaking amazing. Stop killing 5-10 JQ and SBI at once. You’re making it hard to play with two hands.

People are still crying on your server in chat about an alliance? Hell I was there, SBI was hammering us on the southeast, i was fighting them all night in there and trebbing durios. We finally were about to break in and take it with a few people and a large number of JQ came in to save the day.

………… That “alliance” accusation from your server is making you all look bad. SBI has been way more of a threat and bother to us than JQ has.

I dont mind them camping jumping puzzles, i just wish our guys would clear them out more often instead of just letting them have it. those are extra blueprints our teams could be utilizing but aren’t.

It’s honestly smart of them to do it. It’s not griefing, it’s a valid strategy. They are keeping free blueprints off the battlefield.

The survivability can be great, but its horrible if you go with a greatsword power/precision/crit damage build.

Of course it’s pretty low survivability like that on a warrior, but warrior has better ways to boost crit and such through utilities and they have the highest base health in the game, vs our lowest base health in the game, so the survivability of the warrior in a build like that is far beyond ours.

Blame AN for putting PVE content in a PVP zone, then limiting population. PVE people are encouraged to not PVP and take up slots.

I highly disagree, the jumping puzzles are core for WvW. Every serious WvW player should be doing them daily. Not only can they be run in a short amount of time, but completing them gets you free blueprints, heck you can get golems and trebs from it. All of those free blueprints out on the field help a lot especially if everyone does it. so them camping it and preventing the other teams from finishing actually helps them keep free siege equipment off the field. It’s a good strategy.

Past few days we’ve been fighting off both JQ and SBI in JQ Borderlands. If there is an alliance someone needs to tell us both because we’ve been battering each other and fighting over camps and towers bad.

Heck the other night they had us shut out and locked into DB with no supplies or nothing left both hammering us from each side while SBI roamed with a big zerg cutting off reinforcements and JQ shyly attacked our keep from the north only to run with their 20+ people from our 5 person force at the sight of us.

I don’t think it has anything to do with a non-existant alliance between us and SBI that is why JQ is 3rd place. I think it’s because JQ has unorganized zergs that turn tail and run at the smallest sign of opposition. If they stood their ground and fought more often they would be doing better imo. SBI is actually much better organized and puts up a much better fight and they don’t have a habit of running away from fights they greatly outnumber. I’ve been pretty impressed with them.

That’s strange that people don’t use it, I do when im running with a sword or scepter, i actually really like its abilities. especially for knocking people off an ally that they are trying to stomp haha. Been using the staff more often lately though, feel a bit more effective with it because of the force multiplication with the number 4 skill. Seems to help break zergs really well.

it’s good in WvW, great force multiplier with number 4 skill, also heals a good amount at the end, at least it does for me since i use of the cleric gear. The number 1 skill is too weak for combat but its good for safely hitting people sieging your keep/tower through the gate. I tend to use it to get around with swiftness and for big pushes with the number 4 skill. If i get a guy alone I like to use the number 4 to get the full might stacks up, swap to greatsword, pop save yourselves! and virtue of justice for even more might, port on them with judges intervention and whirl them into the dirt.

It needs work overall but it works well enough for now.

I still don’t think it matters much. The difference in stats isn’t really that big, it’s more about the runes and sigils than anything, and a full exotic set really doesn’t take that much work if you just craft it rather than grind tokens or karma for it. They all have different stats between karma, badges, and crafting, but the power level is the same and it’s an easy level to reach, only takes like 1 week of work. I don’t feel severely disadvantaged going in with greens with exotic runes and sigils at all vs someone with exotics. Especially not in WvW where individual performance matters a lot less than the group performance which also matters a lot less than the tactics and strategy to the point where gear is almost a non-issue.

I just don’t like it because it’s too support, and the supports kinda meh as well. Sure those few seconds of might stacks is great for everyone around, me, but it’s not like I can swap to greatsword and get some damage off with it, it’s falling off me too fast.

A lot of people bring up it’s great support and say that it’s fine because of that, but I’m sorry it’s not fine. That line of thinking right there is a prime example of the “standard mmo” model of thinking that people still need to break out of. This is a game of being capable to do all roles at one time to varying degrees, not doing one role to the exclusion of all others…

The only thing the staff is currently good for is hitting people through gates and buffing groups with might for a couple seconds just before a big zerg hit, then you weapon swap and don’t look back.

The weapon needs work.

It’s supposed to be support. The entire idea of support isn’t just to buff yourself to be able to solo anything, it’s to enhance the group of people you’re with; and the staff is perfect for this. So you can’t get any damage off with it; so what? I just don’t see why that’s a problem.

It is fine. And it’s not that line of thinking that’s a problem from past MMO’s, I’d argue it’s the idea that it needs to do DPS instead. This isn’t a game where it’s stupid to bring anything other than more DPS because your tank and healer are already maintaining the fight and just need the mob downed.

It’s not a major deterrent if one weapon isn’t a DPS weapon when you can switch any time you want on the fly to something that is. You aren’t locking yourself into one role, because you have two weapons and can fulfill completely different roles on the fly, as needed, multiple times throughout the same fight. The versatility is in the classes and what’s available on their weapon switches rather than making each weapon independently powerful so that weapon switching is just a matter of taste.

Oh there’s nothing wrong with that… in a trinity game with tanks+healers+dps.

Sorry, this is GW2, I’m not a healer. Everything is damage. The only thing that differs is whether you are supporting your allies by buffing them, or by controlling the enemy. Currently the staff is too heavily focused on the support, completely forgoing the damage and the control aspects of the game. Which although you may feel good about buffing everybody, makes you completely ineffective. It’s clearly not working as intended, it fills one role, and it doesn’t even fill it all that well either.

Every weapon is supposed to be a dps weapon by design, for every. single. class. If one is not, that is broken.

scepter 3 is nice, scepter 2 is meh, scepter 1 I hate. The thing I really dislike is it’s our only long range option and it’s a terrible long range option at that, it just feels incredibly weak, I only really like it for the immobilize then port on them and swap to greatsword so i can whirl them to death. Personally I prefer the staff as a ranged option mostly because the number 4 skill is a nice force multiplier but that weapon needs some serious work as well.

Overall our ranged options are incredibly lacking, top that off with melee opportunities not being very often, and our incredibly low survivability in melee range, at least in WvW, it just is such a shame our ranged options are so… pathetic.

I would really love to see some reworking of the scepter/staff, atm they just aren’t good weapons but we are forced into using them in many situations. the number 1 skills on them need the most help. I would really like it if the staff had longer range like the scepter does, so at least there’s some more variety in our long ranged capabilities.

It stacks in duration, like poison. and like all damaging conditions the person who applies it that has the highest condition damage is the one that gets the ticks.

I know this isn’t what you’re suggesting but, I would suggest a different way.

To lower Queue times instead by:

1) Allowing free transfers ONLY to lower populated servers
2) Stopping free transfers to ANY of the top populated servers (say top 60%)
3) Allow guilds to keep their upgrades when guild leader transfers guild
4) Switch the Orb buffs with the Out maned buffs.

I think that would even the population out a lot! I know people HAVE to be tired of the long queues on those top pop servers and will gladly move to lower ones if the incentive is given properly.

The problem with cutting off free transfers is what if say someones in the situation I was in the other day. I have been on henge since day 1 heck minute 1 of headstart release, I came with Titan because I have long time friends who are in Titan and I wanted to make sure I would be on whatever server they were so I could play WvW with them. And I have a Real Life friend who finally got the game the other day, he couldn’t even pick my server because it was full. He had to keep trying to transfer here for a couple of days before a spot finally opened up and he got in. So whats your solution to cutting friends off from playing with each other?

Take your friends to a less populated server. That is what I’m trying to say. Make it easier for friends to go to the servers that need people. Make the incentives (no queue time, retain guild perks, etc.) viable so people such as yourself can make a new home on a great server that actually NEEDS you. Because, lets be honest Henge doesn’t need anyone else. And anyone going there is doing a huge disservice to this game in my humble opinion.

That’s fine and all if your friends aren’t members of a major WvW alliance. They leave if Titan leaves, you think whatever server Titan is on would stay low pop for very long?

I think the problem will sort itself out over some time. If it doesn’t, an extra map for all three servers to fight over would be a good idea.

I really like the T1 cultural set. I use it on my guardian, I skip on the shoulders and helm though, I hide helm anyways because my bald head is glorious, and my conquerors pauldrons well… they fit the rest of the set perfectly and they have so much sentimental value to me.

The other 2 tiers looked pretty good too, but I don’t think they look as good as the first tier for me.
