If the decision to require a 5 man group is carved in stone from on high and will not be changed then allow us to take the stupid kitten personal story reminder from the screen. It’s insulting when you can’t get a group together to finish this up. Not all of are on the US east or west coasts and some of us have very different hours of work and leisure. And as someone has pointed out, the big wave of players is well past this point. There isn’t much help to be had any longer. Let us remove that stupid reminder of Anet’s poor planning that stares us in the face every log in.
Use the pillars to evade his attacks, and kill the adds – after they are dead it is significantly easier. They may respawn so kill them again when they do. Don’t bother trying to res the NPCs, they will insta res when you kill all the adds IIRC. If you’re meleeing him, try ranging.
not trying to be a smart aleck, but just how did you do that? I’m at this quest with a ranged class and frankly I can’t get to a pillar before going down. The yellow adds appear and before the dialog is out the character is on the ground. Just curious.
Tonn’s death was gratuitous imo. It wasn’t necessary in the slightest. But is it a wonder that everyone thinks Traehern is the savior and hero? We leave dead bodies of comrades everywhere we go. :P
To be fair, not everyone dies. The one character you really want to die, that you’d throttle his leafy little neck yourself, doesn’t die. Tis a shame too.
Oh and Alfred Hitchkitten… too funny.
I hate the personal quests personally. Now I just do them up to the point where you get a back piece then quit.
I thought rangers were the redheaded step child. Does this mean we’ve moved up a notch?
we’re now the strawberry-blonde stepchild.
Why does this thread ALWAYS pop up after a big patch? A lot of people are downloading it at the same time, just be patient. Sheesh
Of course everyone is trying to download at the same time — they were all kicked from the game at the same time. Friday night during North America’s prime time. It shouldn’t take a rocket scientist to predict the trajectory of the servers when the clients all start downloading at the same time.
Would’ve been better served pushing the patch earlier in the day or even the week.
Well another way to look at it is your character isn’t the center of the story cause you keep getting people you work with killed and maimed. Your character’s partners have the longevity of a Dirty Harry sidekick. Who would want to follow you?
Still, he is annoying isn’t he?
After crlawr island, everyone’s personal story ends and you join Trahaern’s personal story.
In Trahaern’s personal story he rescued everyone and saved the day and you’re just some guy he lets hang around with him because he feels bad for you.
Personally, In my personal story I meat Trahaern found out he was weasel, told him to go jump in a lava lake and never went on a mission with him again. That so called dragon hasn’t destroyed the world yet either. Frankly I don’t think he exists.
Laziness. But that’s just my opinion.
Thread and the vitriol on both sides of this issue are getting a bit old and people might just want to take a break on it for a bit. the point has been made in multiple lengthy threads by now.
Getting to choose between different levels of difficulty would indeed be welcomed especially if personnal story becomes replayable some day, which I hope it will, because some missions are really nicely done
I think some of them have the potential to be nice. Personally I’ve had almost none of the personal story missions work out as intended. Most have bugged out or just simply decided to not reward my characters with either the item or the xp. If they actually fix the bugs, I’ll think about replaying some of them. But if they’ve worked out for you, good deal.
I no longer bother with the personal story quests. They have no effect on your end game. Yours is just another example as to why it really doesn’t matter
Apparently they’re planning to put in a token system to let you pick a reward a la gw1. Still, I couldn’t help imagining the npcs saying “Hey, thanks for saving us! Since you’re not doing anything anymore, you could throw this junk away on your way out?”
A ll in all it’s a much better solution than what has happened to my characters on earlier parts of the personal story when no quest reward (or xp) was given…. a response stating “sorry but we have no capability to retroactively give players any items or xp they should have received.”
Good Lord guys, you’re taking all of this way too seriously. I certainly didn’t go to war and if any of you decided to take things that way — that’s your problem. Do I have to start posting things in pink to make it clear? Yes, I am a vegan, yes I abhor bacon in real life but this is a game. I could care less if they put bacon into it in any form whatsoever.
It’s just a game. IRL, I’m a Ironman World Championship finisher, multiple marathon finisher (oh and I actually know exactly what my finishing times are too!), Long distance runner and swimmer. And I’m a vegan and my ranger has eaten cheeseburgers that my cook has conjured up in game. It’s just a game.
Aloha.
Tybalt has easily been the best set of dialog I’ve run across in the game (so far). The rest.. meh… I just fast forward through it if I find it particularly annoying.
For what it’s worth, either the 9/17 or 9/24 update (I can’t remember which) has an updated version of that quest. (“Rumors of Trouble.”) In the future, PLEASE provide me with the quest name. I only recognized the step because I just modified last week.
Jeff, I’ve filed bug reports on every personal story mission that’s had problems since beta. So has most of the guild I’m playing in. I’ve been a beta tester on a lot of games for a very long time and provide extremely detailed bug reports. However, at this point I’m not going to bother doing the personal stories any longer. They’re simply not fun.
That’s a fact only for you and OP. Not all the player. I’m very cassual and didn’t find problems complete all of the personal history. Sorry but you are simple lazy. Did you view/read any guide of your class? Did you discuss in the forum about good build/strategy? No. You want an easy personal history just because you die a lot without making anything to improve your gamestyle. Sorry but this game is not for you. Baldurd’s Gate is Difficult, Dark Souls is difficult. GW2 Explorable Mode Dungeons Are difficult.. Personal historyline is OK.
Well if you bothered to read the plethora of topics on this exact same subject you’ll find that it’s not just me and a the op. As for the rest of your diatribe, you have serious anger management issues for a game. I’d suggest some serious help. No, I mean that.
A MMORPG — if something seems too hard for you, try it with a friend.
You shouldn’t have to. If the personal stories are designed to require a party of any size than they need to clearly state that. As it is, they’re set too hard. The fact that most of the missions require you to rez and repeat multiple times is an indication that the difficulty level is too high. I no longer bother with any of them on any character.
I’ve stopped doing the personal stories at all for the reasons listed above. After getting chain stunned and swarmed by multiple mobs whilst the accompanying NPC stands around doing nada. It’s not worth the frustration nor are the stories all that compelling to make me change my mind any time soon.
I’m a vegan. I applaud veggie burgers and abhor bacon. Keep it as it is. Or make the virtual stomach churning smell go elsewhere. :P
