I personally prefer new weapons.
I like the Elite Specs but still for me new weapon adds hipe and anticipation rather then the same old thing that we now used in different way. Plus for me it feels very limiting (design wise).
Also I think it can be balanced because the game has already have a large weapon pull and it is balanced and with the new Elite spec it’s like adding new weapons and the game is balanced (Sort of).
What do you think?

blame the translator but i guess u catch my drift. restricting this to pvp only 1 is beautiful fast range aoe dmg. besides the condi/dmg from each skills they each serve good functions like blasts, instant evades, healing reduction and the superior form of movement: teleportation. the shortbow is no weapon to make the 1v1 but is gives u everything to survive and interfere.
your idea for death blossom reminds me of fist flurry. but if u really think one dubdagger would survive without an evade skill in pvp i guess u never rly tried one before.
Ok I get the highly functioning weapon with alot of uses, but really in pvp and pve (Don’t know about WvW don’t really interest me) how many time have you switch from your main weapon set to your SB cuz you needed that Cluster Bomb (for the healing reduction) mostly (for me at least) you stick with your main weapon Staff or D/P or W.E and rarely you switch to the shortbow. I think that a weapon should stand on it’s own and you as a player would wanna switch to the shortbow cuz it has a good and different play style and not for 1 or 2 ability in that needed situation.
And I agree on the D/D ability that I offered, on second thought it really don’t fit. But I still think it needs to receive a change. What do you think, do it need change or is it just me?

First of all I don’t see any way to fix traps cuz they contradict the Thife consept which is high mobility, and not to mention the the hitbox on the traps comper to other Professions like Guardian, Necromancer is really poor. And I think that the traps themself are not so intresting or good IMO.
Still I can think of a way to fix
Caltrops – Make it a range trageted skill with the same hit box, and if the target stay in it for to long or takes to many hits/steps form it he will get Immobilized.
Scorpion Wire ,the skill as it stands right now is really poor, comper to the Guardian’s Spear of Justice which is a about the same skill just way better and don’t take up a utility space. So my suggetion is.
Scorpion Wire – The skill is unblockable, you have 2 casts the first is when you hit and the second is when you pull. After you hit you have a few sec to choose. And if you pull, it shows the target get pull to you and get knock down on the ground and get stuned for a few sec (like he hit his head on the ground when he was pulled and got stuned). hope it maked sense.
Roll for Initiative – Carp skill can’t be fixed, First of all it’s a 60 sec cd BACKWORDS ONLY DODGE ROLL , and comper it to the same skill basically which is Withdraw that has 18 SEC CD AND HEALS YOU. And with daredavil you have so many dodges that even if you make it a 2 sec cd skilll it still crap cuz you don’t need it.Yeah your explanations make sense. Your idea for Caltrops is great, the immobilize is very useful for Thief, and it gives people the option of avoiding it by dodging out. Unblockable Scorpion Wire would be OP, really SoJ needs to be blockable rather than making other ranged skills unblockable. Your 2-stage idea is great though, that you can save the pull for later, very useful. In fact I think it would be a fun throwback to make it work like the original Scorpion Wire. I think that Roll for Initiative is very useful for PP or staff thieves since they’re more initiative-heavy, I rarely run out of initiative on D/P. But it could skip the evade/condition removal part and maybe replace that with a more useful effect, like Resistance.

Second if you say people use it then I agree that the skill should give you a diffrent effect (Resistance would be great) and I also think that the skill should be changed to: every time you use a dodge roll it reduce the ability’s cd by X sec.
thiefs shortbow skill set is the most elaborated in the game. there shoulnt change a single code and i dont believe it ever will. every single one of these 5 skills are pure gold in every possible thief build.
Can you plesae elaborated on the subject cuz maybe there is something I don’t see. Cuz to me it feels really doll. People often take the shortbow for it’s amazing mobility and if it hadn’t had the 5 skill most people wouldn’t take it IMO. And I really don’t understand how Choking Gas fits in the overall consept of the shortbow.
And BTW what do you think of the daggar/daggar change?

So following the thread Suggestion: Utility updates for sPvP I was think what are your suggestions on how to improve the skills and utilitys of the Thief not only in sPVP. It can be changing/improving weapon skills, Utility skill F1 skill or Elite skill.
So
Shortbow :
Disabling Shot – Make it shoot 3 arrows when jumping and make the leap range longer like the Coztic.
Cluster Bomb – Make the projectile move way faster (And remove the second cast to make up for it).
Remove Choking Gas and replcae is with a new skill.
Dazing Shot – after a small cast time you shoot a powerful shoot that dazes the target on hit.
Daggar/Daggar
Death Blossom – Change the ablility to make it like the Coztic shadow dagger attack that stuns you on first attack and hits you 2 more time with great power.

You hit the traget with steady hand strike, Stealing one of his Utility skill (the skill replaces the “Mind Blown” utility skill untill you use it) and making that utility skill go on CD.

Utility – Troll Venom
When you hit the enemy with the Venom his next few attacks/skills will make him attack himself insted of you (And if he try to use any Control effect or and Conditions it will cast it on him insted of you).

Thief (Shadow Duelist) Ability to use offhand sword based on Stance and Shadow step sword skills, atm it feel like thief lacks alot, every class do alot of damage and thief is not adding nothing new to the game.
So i tough of something that thiefs could do:Pious Concentration [utility stance] : On shadow step skill gain, 4… 6 seconds of quickness, and one random boon between 15 migh or 15 fury, whenever hitting targets with a stance you gain 2 seconds of stability, and target stance end, cant be dazed while on movement, target cant get adrenaline for the next 8 seconds.
Shadow of Haste [utility stance] :Gain 25 seconds you move % faster (faster than 33% if possible or make a way for thief really move faster) than the actual speed, reaching the limits, you do half damage to target, every stance and and boon target gain, you will enter in same stance and gain boons for half duration, spend 30% less initiative on sword skills while under Shadow haste stance.
Attacker’s Insight [utility stance] for 15 seconds Gain stamina per hit, whenever player blocks dodges or blinds you, your are teleported to adjecent position, if a Shadow Step is used,you will gain 3 seconds of quickness, clear 2 conditions, and next 2 skills are unblockable, ICD 4 seconds.
Duelist Covenant [Heal stance] for X seconds while you mantain this stance your shadow step skills do 20% less damage but cost X% less, 40% of damage is tranfered to health, max health healed is X(value), when it ends gain stealth.
Mark of Insecurity [elite stance] Every atack you do will inflicts vulnerability to target, get a damage boost based on 1% of your initiative, nearby traps run in your favour.
All those skills seems really over powered. I get that you like Thief really much (me too) but giving them skills like these with very little counterplay seem to me like a really unhealthy gameplay. Still really good job on this skills
I got onther one.
Utility – Deadly Kiss Vial
You have a Vial that could be used in 2 ways.
First way is self use, you drink the Vial and consume it’s content you gain alot of boons (like Consume Plasma).
Second way is group use, you smash the Vial on the ground giving Boons to your Allies and Conditions to your enemys (BUT ALOT LESS BOONS and I don’t know which ones will be balanced and usefull)
Disarm looks like a fusion of moa+steal :\
Altough some thief/mesmer mobility (on the utilities) feel would interesting, dual daggers?

Rev already has heal on use energy if i recall but dont have damage damage with energy that is spent.
About the disarm, the diffrence between that and moa is that in moa you can’t use 6-0 skill and in disarm you can.
And your idea for utililty is really interesting, I think maybe in would be a good venom that is actually viable (except Basilisk Venom).

Elite – Sabotage
After 2 sec cast time (or balanced number) you teleport to you enemy from the sky knocking them down, disarming them and doing damage.
New mecanic disarm – disarm you enemy taking his weapon skill (and weapon) giving them new set of skills (like mesmer’s Polymorph Moa).
Hey let make a fun it segment.
Everybody can add only 1 idea of a new heal/utility/elite or even a new F1 mechanic or new steal abilitys (the F2).
Mine is:
Utility – Vanishing Decoy (worst name ever)
Once you click it for the next 1.5 sec (or balanced number), the next time you get attacked/hit, You get into stealth and teleport behind your opponent and leave a decoy insted of you (that way opponent knows that you use the ablilty). The ability is a stun breaks.
BTW you still take the damage when hit.
I wanna know what ideas do you have.

So I really liked the Specialization Collections system, it really was interesting and really felt unique to each Profession (tho some of the acquisitions ways could be better/funner/more satisfying).
So my suggestion is that please make more of the Specialization Collections that involve getting the missing gear pieces for each Profession (like new gloves for Chronomancer or Dragonhunter’s new sholders ect.)

I have been thinking about a new mastery that will solve a lot of problems (in my mind) and It’s:
Central Tyria – Sprint.
This mastery allow you to hold down a button (w.e don’t care which one) and just sprint,
the sprint will use your endurance bar and you will be able to use it whenever you have endurance.
The sprint speed will be a lot more faster then swiftness that is 33% (I don’t know how much exactly depends on Anet) and will allow you to move a lot more faster.
This idea (in my mind) will solve the mount problem that this game has, It will allow us to move faster form point A to B, and will not harm the game (devs) philosophy of not missing content because it’s only temporary.
I would like to hear what you think about it.

I am really disappointed in the Mastery System.
The Mastery System is suppost to be a really nice and fun feature that grants players new abilitys and let them interact with the world in a new way (like granting access to new hidden path that give you access to new content or hidden story thats not a part of the main story)
The Heart of Maguma Masterys:
They are a fram fest that froceses you the GRIND THE LIVING kitten (cures) out of areas 4 (3.5 cuz Dragon Stand isn’s always up), to get a reword that does not fit the amout of time that it takes to achive.
You don’t allow people to level up the Heart of Maguuma masterys in Central Tyria (I can get that you want people to do the new content), but you don’t give us enough contetnt in the new maps it’s frustrating (AND I AM SICK OF DOING THE SAME MATE EVENTS FOR THE 10000000000 MILION TIME).
Most of these masterys does not appy to Central Tyria which make them fill like a huge waste of time.
The Central Tyria Masterys:
The Central Tyria Masterys don’t really involve you in exploring Central Tyria for new interesting thing. Insted they grant you acess to Lion Arch Masterys because most of the masterys apply to Lion’s Arch. you should have called it Lion’s Arch Masteys.
I have 97 masterys points, I am missing alot of Heart of Maguma, missing the legendery masterys (because I am not interested of framing the legendery).
I see no resone to FRAM the other masterys or the new conternt.
Wasted effort bruh, there won’t be new weapons in the game as that requires too much effort and it won’t be a skin either cause Anet only goes for simple and easy designs or edits of existing ones.
Shame
I had a really cool design for the Elementalist that use this weapon in a completely diffrent way.
I put alot of affort to this thred and I reallly wanna know what you think.

I have been thinking about some ideas for new weapons for the next expansion.
The first one is the Kyoketsu-shoge,
The Kyoketsu-shoge was a ninja weapon, it’s a double edged blade with another curved blade attached near the hilt, This is attached to a chain/rope which then ends in a large metal ring (as you can see in the picture below).

This weapon has a long rang and has a very versatile use while still remaining a MELEE WEAPON.
This weapon will be used by 3 professions, Thiefs, Elementalist and Revenant.
First I must say the weapon will be part of new Elite Specialization.
If you want I have some ideas for utility skills for Elite Specialization but I will show them in other threads.
Starting with Thiefs,
The Theifs has really close similarities with ninjas so I thought it would be best to give
them some of the real technique (that I saw online) and some that I made up.
First of all when you wild this weapon as a thief you always spin the rop and ring part form side to side (as shown in the video

1 Skill Auto Attacks:
First Strike Stab Foe with with blade part,
Second Strike Slash the foe with the the curved part of the blade (inflict bleed),
Third Strike Strike foe with the ring part of the weapon (spin the ring on his head) inflict vulnerability.
Stealth Skill:
You throw the ring part of weapon around the foe neck pulling them to you and knocking them down (for a short duration). as shown in the video.

Second Skill:
First Cast Throw the ring part of the weapon in a straight line that on impact bleed the foe, if u hit the foe with the ring it open up a second skill. Combo Finisher Projectile

Second Cast The ring is attached to you foes hand (You suppose to rap around the opponent weapon IRL, I don’t know how it’s gonna do it in game), You use the rope part of the weapon and make a loop around his arm DISARMING HIM (New mecanic, your foe’s has no weapon skills on his U.I for X amount of seconds insted he has a new fist skills on his U.I) and leaping to him (You pull the foe’s weapon and pull yourself to your foe). Combo finisher Leap.

Third Skill:

Forth Skill:
Spin the ring part of the in a large circel with a large radius aroud you 3 times, First time you spin it above your head, hitting enemys in a large circel around and blind them (the ring part hit them in the eyes), Second Spin you spin it around your waist hitting enemys in a large circel around and infilct weakness (the ring part hit them in the arms, Third Spin you spin it around your legs hitting enemys in a large circel around and infilct cripple (the ring part hit them in the ankles). as shown in the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kt5a5swAP7A&t=0m9s
Fifth Skill:

At the “Molten Boss” Fracatal there is a cutscene when you meet the Bosses, the only problem is that you can’t skip this cutscene.
Anet plesae add a skip button to this part.
