SEA crew only hangs around for about 3 hours, then they all go to sleep at once (it’s actually sort of scary) and we have absolutely nobody for EU. We’re probably the weakest EU server in Silver.

We don’t defend our own borderlands. Just ask any of the Gold league servers. Especially during EU. People are only interested in karma and chevos, not in trying to actually win. No reason to care about that.

Seriously. Take 10 people, go take DB Hills. Heck, 5 even. Use SE to resupply. It’s not hard. Even if you see a couple defenders, kill them and take it anyway. NO CHANCE IN ONE ACTUALLY DEFENDING WHEN NOBODY SHOWS UP WHEN YOU CALL FOR HELP.

Go. Now. Do it. And when you’re done take a golem to water gate Garrison, nobody will stop you. Borlis has been doing it all week.

I’m actually impressed DB managed to hold lead until the end of Monday despite being horribly outnumbered by BP 16+ hours of the day. That was one hell of a reset effort by everyone.
We’d own up short term matches, but the burnout seems to be hitting us now. =(

There should be some sort of wvw defensive abilities you can throw ranks into. Like the effectiveness of using supply to repair, and the ability to bubble a gate temporarily to provide even 15~20s extra response time.

I feel there should be some more creativity for the wvw ranks in general. So far all of the buffs have been offensive in nature— it would be nice to see some defensive buffs. And I’m not talking “autowin with arrow carts”, I’m taking “buy your group some time as a result of you being there to watch the tower.”

What do castles do when they’re under siege? Close the gates and raise the moat. Sometimes when I’m watching a tower and it comes under siege by a zerg I feel completely helpless. I should be rewarded in some way for my vigilance.

No doubt – communication issues will make you lose against higher coverage servers.

No kidding. Unfortunately our EBG group isn’t really big on the Borderlands maps and cries for help often fall on death ears. Some of our major EBG guilds have left the server, making it even harder to communicate with them. Sometimes it feels like they’re like an entirely separate entity, not to be controlled.

Back when we had the people run the other maps during NA/Oceanic/SEA that wasn’t such a big issue. But now it is.

There are some leaders on DB that try really hard, and we always have people to step up and fill the gaps when guilds leave, but on the whole inter-guild communication has never been our strongest point.

I still think they should switch the effects of the ruins/outnumbered buffs. I felt this way back when there were orbs. It’s the stronger teams that will have the people to spare to take the ruins, all this will result in is the bigger zergs getting even tougher to kill.

Oh, stability should negate immobilize. Being less CC’d would help the smaller group more than the bigger group because it’s usually the smaller numbers being more smart with their abilities, anyway.

Nobody in this thread, except for possibly IoJ, is allowed to talk about losing guilds. We (DB) lost six, some of them were big game players with lots of people, to the big 3 (and 1 to SBI). I’ve lost respect for a good number of people whom I used to run maps with. It’s kind of sad. What hurts us even more, is that we had a unified EBG pug community, that got sapped away by one of the guilds. We used to be able to que that map fairly steadily.

Not only is it the only reason we’re not winning our current matchup, it’s the only reason we’re not in gold. We didn’t get “worse”, we got more sparse. It’s a real shame they decided to jump at the last moment, though I’m glad we managed to get that T5 matchup to drop down to silver before the leagues were locked, as a result. Otherwise it would’ve been a long two months. (And you guys would’ve been stuck with Maguuma, and trust me, they’re way worse. They’re the only gold league server that can legitimately claim to have skill over numbers.)

With the exception of this week’s matchup, and possibly week #5 Dragonbrand will at least be able to push for 2nd in any given match up we’re in. I for one think it’ll be interesting, though I’m sticking with my predictions on page 2.

DB needed to have their leaders’ heads in the PPT game from the beginning and try to keep the weekend score as close as possible between FA and SBI if they wanted that. I just don’t think DB wants to play for PPT (except the karma-train off hours oceanic/EU crew) and its really more of a side effect of what they are doing than going for PPT.

Nah, we simply lacked the ability to defend both sides of out map with our 20~40 against two map queue zergs. Defending outnumbered only does you good for so long. Eventually you’ll be starved. People get demoralized when they see enemy waypoints on the keeps in our BL, too.
By Monday nobody even bothered hitting upgrades anymore. We only have enough people to make a push on one map, (either our BL or EBG usually,) so if we’re ticking more than 150 at any point during NA or EU it’s simply because a small squad is hitting a pocket of undefended capture points, and nobody’s bothered to take them back.

That and our EBG crew is pretty stupid on the whole. If we call out for help on other maps because our Garrison is under attack, it’ll generally get ignored on that map— they’re too busy banging their collective heads against that castle, or enemy towers that don’t matter.

Shoutout to our roamers, though. We’ve gotten a fair amount of points from camps this week.

It was hilarious. When we got to the Lords Room, there was single DB soldier trying to protect it. Have a screenshot somewhere don’t have the time to look for it now.

Don’t feel sorry for DB. Feel sorry for the servers that are at the bottom of this league. At worst, we’re in the middle. Those servers will be stuck being rolled most weeks— some weeks by DB.

In the end, losing the bandwagoners was a good slap in the face for us. Sure, we have our doom naysayers, but it got those of us that remained behind, (and as a result of the guilds leaving we now have a much higher concentration of pugs,) working hard at improving our game. During NA DB has always been the little player, so we do the best that we can.

Also, this thread needs moar drama. We almost let it fall to the second page.

Lol, we’ve got IoJ and BP again next week.
I really wish the servers were more evenly populated. People call for match variety, yet anything +/- 2~3 servers above/below you and the matches are fairly lop sided.

Anyway, this week’s going to be rough. Our opponents for the week are gaining guilds while we have lost a bunch. =(

TC/SoS/Mags will be tired of their T1 opponents by the end of this, I can guarantee. The lower tiered Silver/Bronze servers aren’t going to enjoy this as much, as well. Really, DB is in a good spot. Sure we’re a little outmatched this week, but overall our schedule is decent. Usually we’ll have 1 server more populated than us and 1 server less populated than us (like last week) giving us a relatively decent match up. Week 3 (for DB) will likely be a stomp. That’ll be a good week to pop those birthday/wxp boosters and go hit some doors.

If Anet wants to be productive with the server transfer fees they should have them constantly adjust to wvw production (and not overall server population). Now that we’re locked in for the long haul they should introduce more expensive transfers to the Tier 1, T3 and T6 servers while introducing super cheap transfers to T2, T5, and T8.

Because who really cares about the pve population. ._.

I know FA has literally the worst players in the game (even though core transfering there somehow brought down the average with how bad they are lol), hopefully DB is only sending out the terribad roamers on reset and the less terrible ones come out during the week but i doubt it.

BTW this was Mend’s doing classic hills defense. Siege count for hills ( upgraded to wp) was 22 superior acs 2 regular acs 5 trebs 2 superior trebs 1 guild treb 7 superior balis one regular and 1 superior catapult.

Had some fun duels with Maguuma @ south DB BL tonight. Shout outs to the Ranger, Necro and assorted Warriors. Good fun! The Ranger in particular taught me a couple of tricks to tweak my build slightly. I’m always learning. =)

I, for one hope Maguuma does really well in the gold league.
Any server to dethrone any T1 server is good enough for me.

Though I will miss our periodic matches with TC and FA I wouldn’t mind facing some of the lower tiered servers. I spent some time on IoJ and they were always quite jovial and fun to run with. NA time slot will be hella difficult for us even in silver league.

The servers in general need more balance and less wagons. People pick on Dragonbrand, yet we’re not the one with the war chest buying out guilds. Never have been.

Oh, a sidenote. Hail [EA], we’re DB’s sole surviving original release day guild. =D

I am in the same boat. I’ve tried everything.

Firstoff, it’s picky enough as it is. I find I’m there for the entire event tagging basically everything and I’m still only getting silver contribution medals sometimes.
And yet in wvw, my usual domain, I tend to get credit for things I wasn’t even aware I participated in.

Anyway, I’ve been trying this every couple of days since the event began. Today I got credit for 7 portal closings, (5 gold contributions, 2 silver) in Lornar’s Pass before the timer hit 30 minutes left on the event and still no achievement. Generally it wouldn’t be the end of the world, but you need almost all of the achievements for the meta.

I’ve gotten more bags in any one night of this matchup than I did entire weeks against Maguuma (and other servers such as Yaks Bend or Ehmry Bay). The ppt’s a little lacking due to coverage and numbers, but there’s no shortage of good fights. My computer hates T1, though. =(

It’s fun to let an SoR or BG zerg run an entire map, then wipe ‘em all once for +60wxp each. Arguably worth more than pvd’ing an entire map.

The only downside is that roaming doesn’t seem to happen in this tier. I never find one BG or SoR guy by themself. JQ was the same way when we faced them a few weeks back. Does T1 have designated 1v1 areas/times? (Not talking gvg, guild isn’t really into that.)
