The weakest vanilla profession has, for the past two years, been carried hard by its powerful elite specialization. Coefficients should definitely get a boost, especially in a petless spec.

The professions with longer ranges on their AoE’s generally have less ‘oh kitten’ buttons and defensive-oriented abilities.
If you want the backline moving with the front line on their generally glassier builds you had better give them some blocks, invulns and good defensive traits to counteract all that extra damage they’ll be taking.

IMO this particular element is fine as it is.

Its adorable when you think that only necros are the issue and not condi damage. It kind of fills the same kitten posting i did intentionally to prove a point that your are oblivious to. You play the Victim or create a strawman argument and place a generic class there for targeting and get mad. Instead of Blaming the source of the problem.

I would be highly surprised if all of the mechanical PoF elements were available immediately through tokens earned in wvw before the expansion. That’s a real good way to get the pve’ers to rage and from a design perspective I doubt Anet wants to introduce an element that’ll have a good chunk of their players ignore all of the content required to earn all of the new rewards and instead earn them instantly.

That said I hope they allow all of the new content to be eventually obtainable through wvw with the existing tokens and not a new type of currency.

I cant decide between thief or ranger

I play both, I enjoy both.

I prefer ranger because while their damage and mobility can’t compare to a thief’s, the latter is still better than most other professions and they can be inherently much tankier. I find the thief’s condition removal to be a tad better, (they’re both below the profession average,) but also more proactive.

I’d say its definitely more frustrating rolling a thief and trying to learn the mechanics, but once you have it down its significantly more rewarding from a roaming/small group perspective. Either profession works in pvp, though they both serve different roles. Pve I think ranger is your better option for map completion and aoe dps. I don’t raid, but I hear ranger is a good choice there. Both are good at roaming in wvw, neither are great for zerging.

Ranger has a lower learning curve, but also a lower ceiling. A good thief will kill a good ranger in a straight up fight, though odds favor the ranger if the two players are newer to the game.

Really, try them both. See which you like more.

I’d be lying if I said I haven’t done that exact thing.
Though I’m mostly active in the game when I’m online, I do tend to “pip out”, at which point I’m no longer contributing to the map. (I do try to move away from the busy/potentially queued maps in favor of the outnumbered buff, but the fact is I do just sit there at spawn.)

For various reasons I’d be in favor of a more proactive system for generating those skirmish chest/ticket rewards, but eh, I’m not going to bite the hand that feeds me.

Now, for using stealth to get out of combat:
This changes literally nothing.

Maybe for the two professions with 1527 teleports. On ranger (well, druid) stealthing away to escape combat is a fairly common approach I take. I imagine some engineers would feel the same way.

they should just have the 1 week pip probation if the player is transferring to a higher tier, if they’re moving to a lower tier then they shouldn’t get it.

Cause right now its deterring all transfers, not just server stacking.

Are you kidding? As an unlinked FA player playing against SoS /w IoJ and a triple DB link I’m having a great time. The fights never stop and thanks to the consistent outnumbered buff I’m averaging 10.6 pips/tick so far this matchup. Most of which I’ve spent in EBG.

Now we can chill in T2 without having to worry about going up and getting rolled over by literal map queues in every timezone every other week.

Speaking of dueling, I think when two zergs facing each other they should have the option to allow commanders duel. When a commander lost the duel, he/she’s team gets banished into the shadow realm.

Not really. With most commanders I know that sort of fight wouldn’t end until one passes out in front of their monitor. Two bunkers guardians aren’t going to kill each other.

I had to read 19 posts into this thread before realizing what the ‘r’ word everyone was referencing is. I am dense.

Anywho, yeah it’s poor character to be throwing those words around chat. No, its not going to stop. Turn your profanity filter back on, (it defaults to on, so you must’ve turned it off) and report people who are being particularly obtuse.

Not much else one can do.

edit- On a somewhat related note, I once silenced an entire teamspeak channel by cursing and using the ‘n’ word in the middle of a fight. It was a spur of the moment thing, I chose my words poorly, I haven’t done it since. Sometimes people are crude and insensitive without realizing how crude and insensitive they’re being.
People do need to realize that when they’re posing in map/team chat they’re speaking in mixed company.

simple answer to how to fix this problem would be make it so the guild leader of guild that own w/e has that player block they cant use that guild tatic.

Actually this is a pretty good idea. Give guilds the power to block specific players (i.e. griefers) from using their tactics. That way they don’t have to block everyone outside of their guild just to deny those griefers.

To take it a step further one could tie supply usage into that same “block” list.

You can’t kick someone off of a server, but if they’re actively sabotaging your team I’d be in favor of tools to help counter that.

Not anymore so than fighting a high mobility spec. No, it forces people to adapt their strategy. If you know you’re fighting someone next to a cliff whilst they have gliding don’t act as if they’re the ones who shot you in the foot when they use their wings as a defensive tactic. Perhaps try saving some of your CC for when they’re lower health and more likely to run.
We all play by the same rules.

(Well except thieves. They’re all cheating hackers.)

I don’t make a habit of visiting the less important areas of the map but if I do and see people dueling (windmill for example) I’ll ignore them.

WvW, fixed.

Without megaserver pve would be a ghost town for most servers on all but the newest or most wealth producing maps. Communities, as they were and are in wvw, never existed in open world pve to begin with. There is no “world” chat.
Tournaments steer the flow of ppt even further towards the servers with higher population, better off-hour coverage and only serve to burn people out and cause drama.
Without links many servers are basically dead on most of the maps, and all servers have fewer opponents to fight.

How are any of those things a good idea?

Losing 64 WvW Claim Tickets after update

I was at Diamond 2 when the patch hit and ultimately lost out tickets by completing the track post patch. Due to my work schedule I was unable to benefit from the day of 14-tickets-on-repeat more than once.

Ultimately I don’t care. I’ll get the tickets when I get them. Just play the game, you’ll get the tickets you need eventually. They made it easier for everyone but proportionally more-so for the lower rank people with the pip changes. Have fun~

If guilds/groups want to run closed squads so that their drivers and coordinate parties and rotations verbally, more the power to them. Its unfortunate that you’re deaf and if you explain your situation in game they may make an exception. That said they’re not forced to. If they don’t either run along side or do something else. Roam. Find another tag. Something.

That said, you’re not wrong.

I wouldn’t be against an option to ‘pay out’ the current skirmish in exchange for/and negating your participation bar & freezing it for 5 minutes (to prevent abuse). No more than 1 skirmish’s worth of pips, though.

The bar for newer players should be set lower. I definitely agree with the above poster. The differential shouldn’t be so great. My average tick is about 7 pips — that seems fair for the current system. People shouldn’t be getting 10+ every tick regardless of their rank and people who participate shouldn’t be getting <4.

That not all. If anything you’re at a disadvantage while in the air because ranged opposition can deal damage to you while you aren’t able to attack in return, or defend yourself. There won’t be any updrafts to save you.
Flying won’t give you some inherent advantage, it will just allow you to traverse the maps more quickly in certain situations. And even that’s situational.

I do agree you shouldn’t be able to begin gliding whilst in combat in wvw.

I see both points. I’m not an expert on the game’s economics.
That being said though, a thought that crossed my mind is the the idea to add an actual ‘bank’ to the game.
That is to say a place where one can exchange currencies at a reduced rate (say 4->1, maybe 3->1 if you have a specific mastery), perhaps only if they’ve unlocked a completion achievement associated with the map of that particular currency’s origin. You know. Settlers of Catan style.
That way you’re still required to do the content involved with the currency, but on the flipside assuming you’ve done the content there’s some flexibility for utilizing other currencies that’ve just sat in your bank collecting dust for years.

Wait. This is a thread about wvw pips. Probably not the best place to post that sort of idea.
