Banks, trading post, armor repair, Mystic Forge, and merchants should all be available at every spawn together. Don’t make people jump maps for something they shouldn’t have to jump maps for.
Alternatively, remove crafting stations from wvw entirely. People can use Lion’s Arch for that and it’s not immediately relevant to wvw. The last thing we want is someone taking hours to grind from 1~80 (or even 1~20) whilst someone else is waiting in a queue to get onto the map to play the game.
Moreover, setting a despawn timer to remove anyone who’s been in spawn (i.e. has the invulnerable buff) for more than 20 (or so) minutes without leaving the safety of spawn to play the game would act as an encouragement to play the game and discourage people from idling on the maps. It’s easy enough for people in guilds who are gathering to move out as a unit to circumvent— simply leave the spawn to remove the buff and return. Of course, I’m not a programer and have no idea how realistic something like that would be to implement.

As a competitive wvw player, and an occasional player of spvp I do not personally feel that doing pvp of any sort should be a requirement for getting a legendary, or for that matter any generalized items within the game. I can understand that some prefer strictly cooperative play.
I do, however feel that those of us who spend most of our time in wvw and spvp should be provided with the same level of rewards as those who strictly pve, which is currently not the case. Alternatively, I feel pve should not be a requirement for the legendary.
Join a zerg/army, wait for the borderlands to flip. Even if you’re not a pvp’er, joining a zerg and spamming 1 isn’t all that difficult. Servers usually have strong times— find yours. Earn that world completion.
Monotonous and boring? I’ve heard wvw’ers say the same of pve— an element that comprises 94% of this particular achievement— currently a requirement for the legendary.

That must be an epic battle.

Our Oceanics are going to do well at night, so it’ll be interesting to see how well FA and TC bounce back tomorrow once we’re passed reset night. This is usually a fairly week time of day for us.
Best of luck to all three servers. We’ll likely be playing together awhile.

Right. So two guilds. The original on JQ and a bunch that moved to DB. A few on DB want to move back to JQ because they were misinformed, I’m sure the existing members of the guild in JQ can accommodate them if they need assistance in returning.
Welcome, [RE] to Dragonbrand. Best of luck to [EMP] on Jade Quarry. That simple. Topic done?
~ Kovu

Dragonbrand is fairly laid back, but we’re also well organized.
If the people from [EMP] that recently transferred over to Dragonbrand through misinformation from one of their leaders intend to transfer back to JQ at the first opportunity, this is something that we need to know now (and not next weekend). Like any other, our server is a well oiled machine, and if some of the newly introduced parts begin to malfunction that will leave holes in our overall production.
Like the time Krew left abruptly and we could only field three maps on reset.
If the guild [RE] intends to stay, and grow, we welcome it. It’s no secret we’re weak in the NA slot. We have a community forum, as well as Teamspeak. Make yourselves at home, and welcome to the best named server in the game. /bias

Southeast camp in Maguuma borderlands just now. What was that Maguuma? Hitting us from behind and trying to get Yaks to flip the camp? Come do it yourself, stop relying on the scavengers. =D

On a sidenote I think the outmanned is wonky. We were running 30+ in Maguuma BL and we were outmanned almost the entire time.
We spent the evening huddled up in our corner of Hills hoping the massive 60+ zergs fighting over Bay didn’t come over to bother us… because we have no idea how outmanned works.

Defending can actually be more rewarding. Defense events complete every few minutes, while assaults often last much longer.
What they need to do is fix participation detection. Right now, defending is much harder to get credit for:
Standing in the circle at the end of an assault (on anything from a sentry to stonemist castle) will get you gold credit even if you didn’t do anything.
While defending, you can contribute countless supply and blueprints towards siege, repair gates and walls, and even get a few kills, and still only get bronze or silver credit.Assaults need to detect actual participation (NPC kills, player kills, structures damaged, siege built). Two days ago I created a treb, provided most of the supply to make it, defended said treb on my own, used it to knock down two walls of a tower, killed most of the NPCs in the tower with some friends, and I didn’t get any credit because I wasn’t in the circle when we finished capturing the tower.
Defense is a little better at detecting who contributed but needs to be more lenient detect creation of siege within the area that is under attack.
I’ll second this.

All I can do is thank our SEA for being so patient with the NA guys. It must be frustrating day in and day out to take everything and upgrade a lot of it, just to wake up and find the maps mutilated.
~ Kovu
Well, to be fair, I’m certain our opponents feel exactly the same
Yeah, but if we bumped up a tier I’m sure this’d be less of an issue. T1-2 seems fairly stable right now, all those servers want by pulling at DB’s SEA is an advantage to break their own gridlock. We can’t bump up with our current NA, though. I’m not fond of server hoppers, but it’d be significantly less expensive for a few NA guilds to hit DB than for the entirety of our SEA to transfer out. Even if they wanted to. I’m contradicting myself, I’m aware, but it’s a catch-22.
Is it in WvW’s interest to preserve the matches as they are and play each other in relatviely close matchups every week, or is there interest in giving every server a shot at being in a higher tier, and a shot at being green? Arguments could be made for both, and it seems whichever is happening— people complain.

So someone asks why the Oceanic crew hangs around DB while our NA is weak and they have less competition.

Someone from another server who knows what she’s talking about answers, they can’t accept that answer.
Someone posts a video with with an Oceanic response, they can’t accept that answer.

Yak’s is fighting for 2nd while Mag is busy defending Yak’s. It will probably change in a few hours as more people get home
Fair enough. My point, however, is that the reason DB is keeping up relatively in ppt at this hour is not because we have people, instead it’s because our own borders are being mostly left alone. You guys are fighting each other. We’ve always been an [outmanned] server at this hour, with perhaps enough people to queue up one map. And by one map, I mean EBG.
If Dragonbrand has a night crew going around turning the maps into paper, do something about it during your peak hours. This matchup is close, and we just lost a big day guild to Gunnar’s Hold.

I like the Signals idea. While I’m on the fence about mechanical buffs, the ability to more easily communicate on a broader level is something I feel a commander should attain.
I also feel that squads should be reworked, guild dots on the minimap should be yellow (not commander specific), and commands such as /supplyinfo should have a slightly broader radius.
~ Kovu
Fort Aspenwood. [CREW], [TLC], [ShW], [UNIV]
Are you talking to your own server? I don’t understand the DB posts here!!
Just a general statement towards some of the above few posts whining about night capping as well as a post on the previous page that claims we have massive zergs during the day hours that win through sheer number.
The reason we still own our map right now is because nobody’s tried to take it. There are only about 10 of us on the map. .__.
~ Kovu
Fort Aspenwood. [CREW], [TLC], [ShW], [UNIV]
Yaks should be worth more to kill. More in tune with a Sentry. And frankly, defending them (following them through at least half of their path) should yield twice the wxp.
… I’m talking the animal, not the server. Though the server should be worth more to kill, too, they keep giving me 3~8wxp.
~ Kovu
Fort Aspenwood. [CREW], [TLC], [ShW], [UNIV]
Yaks and Maguuma have slightly more people than us during the afternoon hours (Yaks more than Maguuma), Maguuma have quite a few more than us late evening/early morning (Yaks go to bed early), but for a relatively short period we basically own all of the maps thanks to our Asians. That’s what the 10k lead is about.
In the end it works out that we’re fairly close in score and likely overall numbers throughout the 24h clock. Welcome to T3. Get used to it, we’re going to be playing together a while.
Weekends are Dragonbrand’s Kryptonite, anyway.

If we can keep our +235 during our weak hours, that’s a win in my book. It’s not usually the case, though.

When I find which one of our guys dared die and appear in a screenshot!
On reset night, TSym+others totaled about 60 coordinating together (62 in the channel iirc). If you take off scouts, etc., you were probably talking a group anywhere between 40-60 running around against what seemed to be, to begin with, similar numbers.
DB has okay NA presence, but it’s correct that their SEA presence is huge to the point that being able to pick up those points then that don’t really start to get retaken ‘til well into EU primetime is probably the main cause for the points disparity between them, YB and ourselves. I wouldn’t call our SEA presence bad by any means, but DB’s seem to operate ‘til at least a couple of hours later than ours making mustering a defence difficult at times. Similarly, YB have probably got the strongest NA presence, but you guys seem to be running on a comparative skeleton crew for most of the day outside of that. I’d say that SoS does mostly have all-round coverage but it’s not that numerous at any one time. I know the numbers we fielded on reset night in terms of organised guild groups and I wouldn’t be surprised if it weren’t at least 20% less than DB or YB to be honest.
I can’t speak to the other maps, but when I got home from work and logged on at 12:00est that Tsym zerg outnumbered our map at least 2-1. [EA] can take on bigger groups, but we had too many guilds on other maps to seriously compete with that zerg. At the time, we merely hung around to give them a reason to stay. I missed some of the fun but the amusing part that I enjoyed the most was when you guys left Garrison NW outer open, baiting us. =D
At the time that screenshot was taken SoS was outmanned. Likely right after the Tsym zerg left.

Not going to lie, some notoriety will help. Commanding on the server, making the name behind the blue dorito known, as well as joining a wvw focused guild definitely helps.
Regardless, turning the tag on in a map with no other commanders and leading whomever decides to follow through strategic means that doesn’t result in their constantly getting wiped is a good start. Anyone can learn the game, and really most are quite capable of commanding.
Just don’t get too irritated when the pugs don’t always do exactly what you want. In the end, pugs gonna pug.

I find a few people with proper siege can prolong even large zergs simply due to their ability to target down any siege the zerg throws up. Unfortunately unless reinforcements arrive it’s a matter of time until those walls go down— the zerg can keep resupplying while the tower will run out of supply (if it had any in the first place) for repairs.
I enjoy defending more than attacking. If I’m in combat, I prefer for it to be open field. None of that you shoot me from the wall crap.
