In this game, you get CCed, take damage, and then die because what minimal support healing there is can’t make up for it.

Allow me to disagree on that.

The self-heal is more than decent for most classes,plus you should have some sort of escaping mechanism.The problem is that when you are chain-CC’d you are also interrupted too easily and,as you have probably noticed,if you tried to use your healing skill you end up with it being on a longer CD than the rest!Which is a bit unfair.

I still think the whole system is alright as a concept,i saw your next post where you mention Resolve.I would also like to mention Unstoppable and Immovable from Warhammer Online,depsite the game having massive gameplay and other issues,these two worked excellent and added a whole new dimension of strategic play in PvP.Even so,it is the amount of burst damage some classes can pull out during those 3 to 4 seconds of lockdown that messes everything up.Some 1v2 fights are not only impossible (to be fair it should be well hard anyway so fair enough) but also annoying since you find yourself on the ground,on the air,immobilised,dazed.All that in a few seconds time.I would love to see the gameplay flowing.

edit: tell you what though,i think we are wasting our time on this.Strategic teamplay PvP seems like being the least of their priorities,at least at the moment.Might have to wait about a year for that to be fixed.

You don’t like to be stunned? DODGE or bring STABILITY! It is that simple, the problem is YOU not the game.

Ahh… so with your incredible skill, you’re able to dodge 3 times in a row and break out of all the stuns 2 players can toss at you, then?

Wait,what.I thought CC was the answer to healers in the first place since if you let them free-cast noone will die.I think you are a bit confused.

How in the name of gaming did this map manage to survive through a review and testing proccess and be added into the list of PvP maps i have no idea.Water,sharks,th kh gh eh?

Arenanet: sometimes different is bad,especially when it’s not a brilliant idea (in this case not even a decent one IMO).In PvP people just want to kill people,remember that please.

Unless you have some kind of OCD that needs your screen neat and tidy with only the players present, I personally don’t see what the issue is.

Part of the issue would be fixed if they allowed us to zoom out farther and fixed certain camera issues (auto-fix?) when having your back close to walls etc.At the moment playing a Norn for me is a massive disadvantage.

I have to agree here,at some point last night we were fighting to defend a point and there were so many clones,pets,things as well as ability effects on the screen that i had absolutely no idea what was going on.That combined with the issues of the target being constantly lost/moved (do pets pull aggro/taunt?!?) made me just pop swiftness and get out of there,not good!

Yes,that’s the one.How did you know,it is not me trying to contribute into making this game even better than it already is and an amazing experience for everyone by noting down bits and bobs that i’ve seen doing well in other games in my 10+ years of online gaming experience,it’s just that i’m angry and whine after i lost in PvP.Thanks for immaturely invading the thread with generic nuweb catch phrases.

The classes are fine.I only have problem with the uncontrolled CC.

I was just involved in a 1v1 that eventually became a 2v2.My teammate died fast and i couldn’t help, however i managed to drop one of the enemies (the one i was focusing all this time) just after.As i tried to finish i KNEW i would never be able to do it since they would start spamming CC.And that is exactly what happened,i had no anti-CC left after a lengthy fight,believe it or not i got knocked back 3 times in a raw.Too predictable and sadly quite dissapointing.

Exactly, if you see how i started my post i am only going on about all this because i was expecting something new and thought of that promotes tactics and skill rather your usual CC/burst based gw2iwinbuilds.com kind of online experience.I guess i should just accept it and move on.Die,respawn,die,respawn,change the channels on the tv and eat fast food.

If a stealthy Thief and a Warrior decide to stun lock me and i happen to have the ONE ability that might save me on CD they will take me from 100% HP down to 20% in about 3 seconds, which is about the time i will be stunlocked, how is that extremely short CC i have no idea.It is also about the time it will take for me to say “i’m locked please pop stability” on TS in case one of my teammates has it available by which time it will be way too late.It seems to me that people defending it is actually the same people that take massive advantage of it.

Initially the game seemed like it required skill in PvP after watching the first gameplay videos, all classes seemed impossible to beat without using clever tactics. I am deeply dissapointed to see that not only chain CC is allowed without any form of immunity whatsoever but also stunlocks and massive burst damage (Warrior’s HB, Thief’s Pistol Whip) are extremely effective and massively used.

Some will say stability, aegis and dodge. I will say they don’t help as much as they should, for example stability doesn’t give immunity to immobilise which is a bit weird, looks like it was designed for reviving or finishing? It seems more likely that it will be used against you since it seems like a fine idea to pop stability before the stunlock to avoid any knockback/down from opponents trying to save the locked-down poor soul.Dodge lags, simple as that.

If you decreased all damage done by 15-20% and added a very brief immunity for certain types of CC (as many games did in the past,some saw a huge improvement in playability) then not only it would make fights a lot more strategical and players think twice before they blindly spam CC abilities when seeing someone at low HP, it would also, and most importantly, promote even deeper teamwork and synchronisation.

That’s my view of things, other than that i do enjoy the game quite a lot.

Major Mesmer Bug

Hi,

the Mesmer suffers from this weird bug that allows him/her to kite away forever by using clones, yet when you manage to take them down they still seem to have the ability to stealth away. This makes it highly likely that during those eons of struggle one of their team mates will come for help, therefore giving the Mesmer a massive advantage in 1v1 in sPvP. Please fix (yes, it’s a bug, has to be).
