I think that one week matchmaking is going to ruin WvW unless you remove orbs.

Are you implying that this fast capturing makes it unfair? Or are you saying it makes that server smarter? Just wondering what you’re trying to imply.
That the orbs are too easy to capture at the start of the game. If all 3 can end up in the hands on one server within 5mins of a reset that is an issue because that gives that server instant dominance.

In the ET/IoJ/SoS matchup, the entire ET server logged on straight after the reset and hit the orb camps and keeps and have held those ever since. It happened within 5mins of the reset while most people on the other servers were sitting around.
In a perfect world, with 3 faction wars, the lesser two teams are supposed to team against the bigger team.
This is happening. Eredon Terrace was still holding off both Isle of Janthir and Sea of Sorrows during their peak times. At one point last night Sea of Sorrows was pushing Dreaming Bay and we were pushing Greenbriar but we couldn’t take either. So ET was able to hold off two complete servers attacks on two separate locations at the same time.
Free transfer to a server that has 100% control of the WvW map (there are a couple mentioned in threads today), run around and collect all the points you need for your explore achievement then transfer back.
From what I can see Eredon Terrace has a strong team 24/7 which is why they had a full crew in all the borderlands last night when the two oceanic servers (in their peak time) were unable to push them back. I was in a 3 hr battle to take Greenbriar last night while at the same time Sea of Sorrows was hitting Dreaming Bay from the north and ET was able to hold both of us off.
That said we did ok in EB for most of the night and pushed ahead of SoS to pick up some points, but IoJ has very few people online during the US day time so we’ve been pushed back to holding almost nothing now. SoS also seem to have slipped behind.
The overall score atm is 51.5K (ET) v 21K (IoJ) v 15.6K (SoS) and the current potential points is 570 v 85 v 40 (IoJ being the 40).
I tired it last night, I went from Isle of Janthir to Devona’s Rest and found that there the matchup was worse than IoJ with one server controlling the entire map. So I then hopped across to Borlis Pass which was my beta server and found the same thing, 1 server controlling the whole map. So back to Isle I went because at least here we seem to be holding onto a few areas… although looking at the map this morning it looks like Eredon Terrace is close to taking everything.
It seems that the matchups across the board are completely unbalanced.
Having a look around the other servers tonight. As bad as the SoS/IoJ vs ET matchup is at least we are holding our own. On some other servers it’s complete domination from one team, they hold the entire map.
Sea of Sorrows needs to get their priorities right first. Attack the green team, not the blue is the only way to strengthen their position. Sure we on IoJ are easier to beat and they may gain some ground, but they just lose out in the end.
Look at what happened in EB today. SoS attacked IoJ and ended up with all their keeps in the hands of ET, while IoJ is still holding firm… although ET’s trick of putting up 10+ siege weapons in a supply camp they captured was nasty.
What server are you on Sea of Sorrows or Isle of Janthir?
This is what happens when your server has a horrible over night force.

Don’t you mean that’s what happens when ET throws the match so they stay in the 2nd bracket instead of getting pushed up to face the top 2 servers?
It is now, a full week of getting farmed by Eredon Terrace is all we have to look forward to.
Best way to fix the zerg is to remove repair costs for PvP so people aren’t punished for going off alone.
Well as an example of the strength of the Oceanic community. When I logged on last night (7pm Australian time) the scores were 33K (GoM), 26K (DB), 25K IoJ. We had turned that around by 10pm when I went to be so IoJ was just passing GoM. This morning it is 90K (IoJ), 60K (DB), 60K (GoM) but we are just starting to drop down again now that Gate of Madness is back online and pushing hard.
The IoJ issue seems to be just a result of the fact that there are 4 top tier servers and we’re in the bracket just under them. HoD plays 2 of SBI, JQ or EI mostly and the one that that ranks 4th tends to play IoJ and one other, while still being a very well organized/staffed server.
I can see a lot of players transferring off Isle of Janthir and Blackgate if we get a full week of being matched up against one of the top 4 servers. It’s going to be a lot of fun being farmed for a whole week…
I’ve tried both.
Guardian is nice and my current character because it looks great in heavy armour and has a big sword and lots of charges and aoe attacks. Poor range though, very hard to attack enemies on the top of a keep wall you are basically restricted to 2 attacks from the scepter and that’s it.
Mesmers have insane survivability with clones and illusions and stealths. I’ve tried one in WvW and even at low level I was virtually unkillable. The Mesmer also has more ranged attacks and is useful for taking out keep walls (although not as good as elementalist).
I’m a pretty casual player (play 2-3 hours a day at most) and I think WvW works well for casual players. I can log onto my 45 guardian tonight, jump into WvW and run around for a couple of hours having fun with my guild.
As far as money goes. I made 40 silver last night from WvW (we were on a roll), and also picked up 1 golem, 1 trebuchet, and 1 ram from loot drops and an arrow cart and balista from one of the puzzles so I’m pretty well equipped for tonight’s fight.
Hmm, so far even the 1 day match up haven’t been very balanced. I’m on Isle of Janthir and we keep getting matched up against Stormbluff Isle who absolutely destroy all opposition even in our peak times. Meanwhile we aren’t matched up against Darkhaven and other servers with whom we have had nice close fights.
Edit: Take this evening. We are matched against Jade Quarry who currently control 550 pts out of those possible. This isn’t balanced.
Maybe they have a vampire problem… that would explain the garlic anyway.
It charges you 5% of the price you put the item(s) up on the trading post for. If you want to sell a large amount of an item it will still be 5%, but 5% of the combined list price of all the items instead of a flat 5% of the price of a single item.
I’m pretty new at this whole pvp thing and only queue as a pug in some quick games each evening. My warrior uses a rifle with axe + shield offset and it is extremely powerful when enemies ignore you are you are with a group. I’ve taken out several at a time simply because I can do absolutely tonnes of damage to them in a couple of hits. I am a bit squishy (although getting better at surviving) and most 1v1 and 1vX contests end up with me dead, but when I’m with a group I go on a rampage while the enemies attack my companions.
Explorable mode should be hard, story mode was supposed to be easy so everyone could do the dungeons.
Instead, all I see from other players in my guild and elsewhere is “I’m never going to do another dungeon again!”
That is a bad thing.
Having done a fair bit of WvW over the past few weeks this is something that irks me because it is being punished for something that is usually out of my control. I survive pretty well so don’t die much (in fact I got the monthly experience survivor last night in WvW) but every time I do it’s not because I personally have made a mistake it’s because I’ve run into an enemy zerg.
Take the battle just now. I’m on my 14 Mesmer with 8 others from my team taking a supply camp from 6 enemies, including an 80 warrior who is taking us down in 2-3 hits. I survive the fight, although I was downed twice, and then just as we are about to take the camp, 30 more enemies appear and we all go splat and on top of having to go all the way back to the start we now have a repair bill.
The repair bill discourages people from branching out and trying risky stuff like taking camps on the other side of the map or harrassing enemy supply lines because all the get is a repair bill for their efforts most of the time. Instead, just stick with the safe zerg group with plenty of people of to revive you before you die. This is a bad thing in my opinion.
