There was a post on reddit earlier today where someone broke through the landscape and found another area behind the current one that is already in the game (but incomplete). So it looks like there are plans to expand the map slowly.
I’m also absolutely terrible at jumping puzzles due to an old injury in my right wrist, but I managed to get through everything so far (exception of the optional jumping puzzle haven’t done those yet).
I guess you can either try harder and get better or just give up.
That’s why she has a katana!
But it’s not a katana.
My money is on Scholar Ela Makkay who I believe was also planning on joining the Zepherites but I haven’t seen her anywhere yet.
I’ve sifted through about 30 stacks of this sand and never seen anything show up as loot for them.
On the other hand I also have 7 keys that have mysteriously appeared in my inventory from somewhere (I have also used 3, which I believe were the 3 that were the reward from one of the living story parts). So either I’ve had others from somewhere that I’ve missed seeing (possible) or the loot from the sand isn’t showing up but I’m still getting it.
I found it pretty good. There is a challenging fight at the end and lots of interesting lore stuff in the last part as well.
And as already said, there is no need to rush there as it is permanent content that you will be able to experience later.
My human commoner was also happy to see Riot Alice in the zone, although I think she is still up to no good the naughty girl.
I found him easier to kill if I jumped across to the large rock platform as soon as possible and range attack him from there. That allowed me to ignore most of the bombs etc (although he still dropped some near me) and all I had to deal with were grenades.
However, 2 or 3 times through the fight he did put up his shield again so I had to go and break that before jumping back to the big platform.
Trying it any other way I was getting constantly knocked off the smaller platforms.
I’m not sure where he spawns, but it’s somewhere near the back half of the zone (or random perhaps) as I encountered him there after someone else spawned him.
I didn’t get my chest on reset when I went back into WvW but when I left just now for lunch I got the chest with the tickets etc in it as I zoned into Lion’s Arch.
I’ve been levelling up a couple of characters in EotM recently and I usually run with 18-slot bags (no extra slots) and 6-8 salvage kits + extra harvesting tools and I’ve never run out of bag space yet.
As for their being too much loot. I took my Mesmer on a couple of hours farming trip for platinum ended up with probably twice as much loot as I normally get in the same time in EotM and definitely far more than in WvW.
Monthly is so boring. I usually get the meta achievement done in the first night after the release and I’m bored with the content after a week at the most. Fortnightly suited me perfectly as it kept me involved in the game. Monthly, back at the start of S1 was so very very boring I quit playing for about 9 months.
It’s bugged when a thief can totally ignore the mechanics of the fight and lifesteal her to death.
Depends what you like. Personally I don’t really want or need miniatures so I’m skipping the panda, but I’ll get the transformation potions, the nodes for my home instance, and what armour etc I can get as well.
You can get tickets from the boxes you buy with crafting mats. Trade a few of those in and that should give you enough to last you for a while.
3) To me T1 top 3 server is the most balance. I would not say they are of the same size and coverage. But the gap between them is smaller compare to other servers. Week 1 result show clearly that any server have a chance to win. It is clearly much more balance than the current trading win we are having now. If you dislike unbalance and hate coverage problem you will not create or take part in this trading win which create a bigger unbalance in T1.
I think it was pretty clear to anyone playing in T1 during in week 1 that Blackgate was the only server with good 24/7 coverage and that playing the matchups as every man for himself was just going to give them an easy win and the other two servers would be fighting for 3rd and 5th due to the design of the tournament. Blackgate romping away with an easy tournament victory did not equal a balanced competition in the minds of players on the other two servers so this lead to a temporary and very shaky alliance between JQ and TC for three weeks of the tournament that resulted in BG losing those 3 weeks.
Now two weeks from the end of the tournament can you honestly say who is going to be the overall winner? This is the only league in the whole of NA and EU that hasn’t already been decided and it likely won’t be until the last week. This is a good thing.
While it would be nice, I don’t see it happen and anyway I replace my gear fairly quickly on levelling characters so usually I get to 80 and then worry about a look.
Are you from Australia? Some Australian ISPs, especially TPG seem to be having issues at the moment. It’s not related to GW2 servers, but is an ISP issue.
It will be interesting to see how strong a performance BG’s secret team of alt accounts on SoS puts in during next week’s matchup.
Is the double team on BG due to wanting the (lol) rewards or due to bad blood, history and spite? As far as I can tell it is the latter, changing the swiss system isn’t going to change anything.
Definitely the later, the difference between 1st and 3rd doesn’t affect the rewards much.
1st gets 500pts so 1 weapon + 1 ascended accessory OR 2 ascended accessories + 100 spare points.
2nd gets 450 pts so 1 weapon + 150 spare pts OR 2 ascended accessories + 50 spare points.
3rd gets 400 pts so 1 weapon + 100 spare pts OR 2 ascended accessories
No one has decided who will win as that won’t be determined until the final week. However, we have decided who won’t win.
It’s based on how many overall tournament points your servers have, not if you win or lose.
It’s just moving into winter here in Australia so we could do with some summer clothes for our characters to remind us of warmer times. Bikini + shorts is quite acceptable summer casual wear in Australia.
I’ve seen two playing for Blackgate that had their Arenanet tags up. One was part of a zerg, another was a roaming thief who attacked me (and killed me) with support from another thief.
Imho, they just made them to stupid and to good at the same time. DE 1.0 is smarter Snaff/Zoija+Eir. DE 1.0 is stronger Caithe+Logan+Rytlock. DE1.0 is just more mature. DE2.0 feels like a bunch of teenagers. Only thing I see from them is kissing and flirting with each other. Emotions and stuff…not very helping in being heroic.
So what you are saying is that elementalists, rangers, thieves, warriors and guardians are too powerful and engineers, necromancers and mesmers are weak.
I concur with this theory, Mesmers need immediate buffs.
Honestly, I think Anet just giving AP farmers some breathing room to farm WvW right now.
1 more stonemist castle capture
9 more yak kills
7 more reactor captures
Nearly done.
The best reward I’ve got out 9 of those chests was 25 obsidian shards. There are also 2x tomes of knowledge and 2xtastes of wvw XP so it’s not all bad.
As a TC player, this is how I saw the week play out.
To start with we were being 2v1’d by JQ and BG not just on TCBL but on other borderlands and in EB as well to the point were we fell out of the running for 1st place by a significant margin and the other two were neck and neck. This was an obvious strategy to remove TC from the race for 1st and ensure BG and JQ tied up the first 2 places and worked quite well for 2 days.
Then on Monday (my time) TC and BG joined up on TCBL to take the hills and then continued that temporary alliance on for the rest of the day to point where I came home on Monday evening to find TC now roughly even with JQ. After another day of this, JQ had dropped to about 10-12K behind which is where they’ve stayed for the rest of the week.
Now from a strictly tactical point it made perfect sense for JQ and BG to 2v1 TC at the start as that cut the number of potential winners from 3 to 2. It also made perfect sense for TC, once they were out of the running for 1st, to help BG eliminate JQ and take 2nd place.
It’s a tactic the attacking side has to account for. If you kill the lord out in the open and fail to stop enemy warriors running in to banner then you have failed that battle and should adjust your tactics next time around to prevent warriors easily bannering the lord.
In-game time and real world time don’t really always match. However I think it’s more a matter of how much time we’ve been exposed to the characters, which is very little. Each Living World update only really had a few minutes of character exposure in a none ‘kill-that-thing’ sort of way.
During the The Dead End: Advanced Warning story instance Marjory said she and Kasmeer met 6 months ago. And as other dialogue in Secrets of Southsun suggests Kasmeer was working for Marjory then. And in Sky Pirates Kasmeer said she joined Delaqua Investigations a few months ago.
So at a guess I’d say the whole living story is probably spread across 3-4 months of game time.
I was having the same issue. I reset my computer and phone and it seems to be working now.
I haven’t tried in GW2, but I have been moderately successful in other games controlling a low supply items and adding a increase of approximately 50% to the price. It is very time consuming however.
I do have a good question. A sensible question, and I really hope you won’t get offended when I ask it. What is the evolutionary advantage of homosexuality, bisexuality, etc? Most things we support in our morals has some kind of advantage, but I have yet to see any conclusive data on this bit. There is the “Homosexual Uncle” argument: “an individual whom provides food and shelter but does not supply excess offspring.” But this feels a bit lacking when you apply it to the natural world, as not all creatures that exhibit homosexuality have instincts that influence them to care for others. And this argument does not apply to bisexuality in the least, as they may still have children. So far, it doesn’t seem very practical.
It could be that homosexuality is a form of natural population control bought about by the overpopulation of the human race. The ability of a species to self manage its own population at sustainable levels would be a pretty major evolutionary advantage over other species. Only a theory, but it seems to fit.
Glad you found them, I was quite specific in saying the one with spiders.
You were, but I was less specific in reading what you had written and had to check every apple orchard (twice, because I ran along the road the first time) before I found them.
I did finally catch their dialogue by chance today too after I logged back in right where I left my warrior.
Ah finally found them. Just east of the apple orchard with the spiders right near the entrance to Lion’s Arch (not the apple orchard further north with pirates or the completely different but looks the same apple orchard with the bats).
They didn’t have anything to say in the 5-6 mins I was there so I got bored and went to kill people in WvW. I’ve heard they do have a conversation that repeats every so often but I have little patience unfortunately.
Thinking about this I wonder why people think the Pact should be involved?
It’s an organisation put together to fight the Elder Dragons, it’s not there to solve every internal conflict or war within or between nations. Should the Pact also be involved in fighting the Inquest? or the rebels threatening the human/charr peace around Ebonhawke.
As the NPC added in this update said, had they known Scarlet was involved with the Elder Dragons they would have assisted. This is because then they would be filling their role.
I think it would be very unlikely that Lion’s Arch will be abandoned mainly due to it’s location and it’s function as a trading centre. You can already see people returning even though it’s still not safe and over time they will need someone to stay so they’ll build houses and others will come back as well. It will take time, but the city will be rebuilt, just not in the short term.
Hmmm… Mordy has all the horses. That’s why they all disappeared.
Yes I was wondering about this. I went looking for horses the other day but all I could find were yaks and cows and other miscellaneous non horsey creatures.
I believe the post is about iconics and biconics. Together they are 10 characters of which 7 are female. This group is not “one small part of one videogame”, it is the main group of heroes on a videogame we care (at least to read the forums). That group is the core of the story, the poster boys. In that core I see few male heroes, only 1 that actually is still active and I don’t like it (I didn’t like any of the other 2 much either to be honest). Me, OP and others are not happy about it, that is what this thread is about, not about what men should or should not accept or what happens in another videogames.
If you add the iconics and biconics together you get 11 characters (not counting the 2 pets). Everyone forgets poor Snaff.
You are correct about the 7 female characters however.
And while we are adding to the list of characters, why not do what I did yesterday and look at the entire list of NPCs featured in the GW2 story so far. You’ll find there are far more male characters than females (about 2 male characters for every female).
Of course, I’m sure people here won’t let that fact interrupt their ranting.

I’m going to agree with the above posts by tmakinen and others. To prove there is a bias you are going to have to widen your sample size and not just look at the main characters of a single season of the living world as the be all and end all of GW2 gender distributions.
So let’s use this list of story characters from the wiki which is as complete a list as I could find and it lists characters showing in personal story, the orders storyline, the pact storyline, dungeon stories, and the living world. It’s not perfect or complete but it is the best currently available that I could locate.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Story_characters
Counting the characters with a gender listed you get 103 male characters and 56 female characters. That shows a very strong bias in favour of male characters across the wider game.
If you look at just the living world it is 18 male to 12 female, but that list isn’t complete and misses a number of characters of both genders that appeared in later updates.
It is true this thread is about major male characters, but arguable there are plenty of major male characters present in other parts of GW2 from the personal story onwards. Because you choose to ignore them because it doesn’t fit your arguments doesn’t really help you prove your point.
I have just relogged into the forums after 24hrs and did not have the cookie issue so would appear to be fixed for me.
If they truly think like that then these writers are worse than I thought. But I doubt that is their line of thinking because we’ve already had two lesbian relationships and a party of lead characters predominately made up of females. You can tell they are trying to change the typical make up of a team of characters in a computer game.
One Lesbian relationship in the living story.
If you are going to include elements from the personal story then you have to bring in all the characters from that as well which include a lot of male characters and invalidate the point you are trying to make.
Insufficient evidence of bias? Sure their is, the heroes of Tyria are almost all female, Rox, Kasmeer, Marjory, Taimi and only Braham is male. The main antagonist is a female Sylvari and most of the rest are just background characters with the exception of Ellen Kiel who has been an important character in numerous updates.
If you are going to include Ellen Kiel and Scarlet then you should probably include the following (listing other characters who have speaking parts and featured in multiple living story patches so aren’t background characters or one-off characters),
Canach (The Lost Shores, The Secret of Southsun, Escape from Lion’s Arch)
Magnus the Bloody Handed (The Lost Shores, The Secret of Southsun, Dragon Bash, Sky Pirates of Tyria, Bazaar of the Four Winds, Escape from Lion’s Arch, Battle for Lion’s Arch and the current Aftermath patch).
Lord Faren (The Secret of Southsun, Queen’s Jubilee, Clockwork Chaos, and The Nightmare Within, plus of course the personal story involvement).
Mai Trin (Dragon Bash, Sky Pirates and Edge of the Mists)
Even Gnashblade (Bazaar of the Four Winds, Cutthroat Politics, Escape from Lion’s Arch)
Emissary Vorpp (Queen’s Jubilee, Clockwork Chaos, Edge of the Mists)
Which makes it 7 female and 6 male.
Yes the core group from the living story is 4 female and 1 male (+ 1 male pet in Frostbite), but the expanded group of characters from the living story is closer to a more even distribution of genders.
Also notice the amount of lesbian couples compared to male gay couples. I can mention none of the later, cause probably there are none in the main story too. However, everyone knows Kas-Jory and Caithe-Faolain. I can also recall two sylvari girls from the ‘green knight’ personal story.
The couple in the green knight personal story were male.
Caithe and Faolain are no longer a couple and don’t have what I’d consider a healthy relationship anyway.
I’m at 9/10 now. One of the secret ones is at the center of the breachmaker.
The other secret one is in the middle of the asura gate area, almost directly in the middle.
To that end, there a few cases of people choosing homosexuality, though they are not commonly discussed. An example being something known kitten .L.U.G.s or Selectively Lesbian Until Graduation; a phenomena where women would become lesbians, but only in the 21-26 age demographic. Afterwards, after graduating college, women would drift back toward exclusive heterosexual attraction. You can read a study about shifting sexuality in the college demographic here:
I couldn’t access the report you linked so unfortunately can’t compare to the report I will link to below.
http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nhsr/nhsr036.pdf
If you read through this one, in particular paying attention to the table on page 26, you’ll see that while women in their early 20’s are more likely to have a same sex partner it does not support the idea that it is college students in particular. In fact, the data shows that women who complete a bachelor degree are less likely to engage in a same sex relationship than women who never attend college.
The % of woman who have had at least one same sex partner also remains fairly high at around 10% right up until 40+ years of age and reduction over time could be explained away by the changing attitudes in society over the past couple of decades. So that doesn’t suggest a huge number of women only have same sex relationships in their early 20’s until they finish college.
The idea that young women attending college are more likely to have same sex partners is probably seen as the truth because it is the idea that has been perpetuated in movies/TV/media reports etc.
So, what is my stance? I believe that these individuals should most definitely not be criminalized or discriminated against, whether they could choose their sexuality or not. However, we really should advocate heterosexual behavior in those who do have a choice because it is the logical relationship to pursue, at least until we know all the “whys”. There is still far too much data missing for me to feel at ease about this, and I hope you can understand my choices.
The science is very clear on this, no matter the underlying reason for a persons’ sexuality, it is most definitely not a personal choice. To advocate that everyone choose a heterosexual relationship is harmful to those who are not heterosexual and this is the underlying issue with this entire topic really.
I think it is Faren
An interesting possibility, as he could be playing us all for fools with an act. It is a very good act however.
I want a TL;DR.
He is suggesting Captain Mai Trin.
I don’t think it is likely as Majory’s short story suggest E is male and also he knew her prior to her introduction to the story and prior to Mai Trin’s introduction.
I think it is a still be revealed character who hasn’t appeared so far except for his messages.
A short story piece at the Dead End.
A reworked lion’s arch map showing the aftermath of the events of the last 2 patches.
I don’t think the Dragon has fully woken up yet, it has just stirred so far.
