T5 does seem quite difficult to reach (seen it once so far) but fortunately it only reduces prices by 50 geodes, so you only need a T4 instance to get the new recipes.
And as you can see they are quite pretty http://lilianhalcombe.tumblr.com/image/91924665850
You obviously don’t read the dialogue because it ends up with us discussing how we should talk to the Pale Tree.
One of the last things said in this chapter is, and I quote Kasmeer here, “if only I still had my family’s wealth, I could take her away from all this. Keep her safe. Give her the things she deserves.”
You realise that entire part of the dialogue can be skipped. In fact the dialogue trees give you a grand total of 4 options to skip the dialogue that so offends you. So you are basically getting upset that you have to read completely optional words that you specifically chose to read.
And all the instances you only have to sit through the Jory & Kas dialogue once now, when you redo it you can quit the instance as soon as you’ve done the achievements.
This is thread #1 we always get after each living story update. Tomorrow we’ll get the one about there not enough burly male characters with stubbly masculine rugged good looks and eyepatches.
Check your achievement panel there is an achievement for killing what is inside the palace and and a description on what you need to do to get there.
I don’t think it is in a room. It’s at the top of an extremely difficult jumping puzzle thing which I’m sure I cannot make so I’ll have to wait for a portal.
Can you do it again after you complete the Fort Salma instance?
Hmm and from the same reddit post there is a suggestion that the vines dragged the waypoint to the ground which broke it. Might need to camp near a waypoint to record that.
Any pictures of this? I won’t be able to check until tonight.
Edit: Actually just found this link on reddit with pictures.

<snip>At the end of GW2’s first month on Xfire:
~9000 players
Hours per day: 35,000
Avg Hours per player: 3.89Currently:
~ 558 players
Hours per day: 2048
Avg Hours per Player: 3.67Change:
Players dropped by 93.8%
Hours per day dropped by 94.1%
Avg Hours per player dropped by 5.7%
<snip>
If you are going to use Xfire as proof, consider that it gives GW2 as 2048 hours/day and WoW as 6475 hours/day and WoW officially has 7.6 million subscribers.
7,600,000 X (2,048/6,476) = 2,403,458
So a very healthy population for GW2 indeed.
Unless Xfire is a completely bullkitten source that no one in their right mind should be using as proof in an argument.
Anet needs to keep people interested in this game and sadly they are failing to do that.
Do you have evidence to back up that claim?
I prefer the FREE content updates provided by GW2 every two weeks to the normal subscription MMO method of releasing limited content every 6 months.
how do you downvote a post >_>
Anyway, a cosplayer actually replicated the armor used for the opening posters main argument.. not only does it look intimidating, but it’s not skimpy enough to deter an Actual human female from wearing it {and looking absolutely awesome by the way}
As a few posters have already stated, if you play the game for 15 seconds you’ll find that there is an equal amount, if not greater, of bulky non-revealing armor.. and this is across all classes and gender
Yet it fails completely at it’s actual purpose which is to provide protection for the body from sharp pointy things being thrust at it.
Although in this case it does appear to be picking out one particular armour out of an array of quite reasonable armour sets for female characters. Out of all the heavy armour sets there are only really a few that fail to match up with the male versions so there are still plenty of options available for those who actually want to wear armour instead of chain mail bikinis.
Light armour however… now that is pretty terrible all round.
I’d have to say that over the past week there has been no day when I haven’t been able to get into or make a T4 instance of Dry Top. I also have all the rewards from the vendor now, including the cooking recipes and I’ve bought about 40 keys and got recipes on alts now.
All the basic recipes can also come from a T2 instance which isn’t difficult to achieve as it only requires about 4 complete events, and you can solo Tendrils + Basket with bonus favour easily so that’s T2 right there. Obviously T4 means more rewards and quicker grind to get what you want.
I haven’t seen any that are still intact and certainly none that are active. I think they’ve all be destroyed.
As to why the remains are still in game it is more realistic that way. After all, who is going to come along and clean them up? I guess if they were near a skritt tunnel they might get carted away that way, but generally stuff just doesn’t disappear it sticks around until cleaned up, it decays, or it gets overgrown.

I think the living story season 2 has so far been a big improvement over season 1 so I’m going to sit back and see where they go with it and then at the end we can look back and comment on what worked and what didn’t so they can improve again.
Also, we got a lot more than 2 hours of content from this patch. I mean I’ve personally spent nearly that long running around looking at waypoints to see which ones are affected by vines or flickering. I still haven’t got all the recipes from the vendor in the new zone and I still have 3 achievements from the story instances to complete.
I’ve seen a lot of “mother kitten” this and “mother kitten” that, but seriously don’t these people realize they’re cats once they’re at a fertile age?
No they are mollys (or queens if in heat, nursing, or mothering).
It doesn’t take much organization, but it does require a decent number of people on the map to be interested in running the content.
Anyone you taxi in is going to be interested in getting to T4. Bring in enough people and you’ll soon have a zerg of people who are interested in getting to T4 and the map will reach T4.
I don’t know if these vines grow underwater, but if they are following the route of the ley line has anyone checked the breechmaker drill site in Lion’s Arch?
Did anybody mention how the WP in Fort Selma is now being grabbled, yet?
I’m not necessarily seeing a pattern yet but I haven’t checked all. The WPs in Dry Top are still only being “tapped”.
That’s definitely new. I ran past there before work and it was still just being tapped.
The major benefit of getting the Favor up is because the Geode reward for completing events also goes up. If your map can get to Tier 4, each completed event during the Sandstorm gives you 10 Geodes.
You also get 1 additional champion to kill during the sandstorm for every tier you complete (from 2-4).
Tier 2 gives you Devourer Queen
Tier 3 gives you Dust Twister
Tier 4 gives you Dust Monster
After a week of doing this I’ve come to realise that the only thing you need to reach T4 on a map is enough people and a small amount of organisation which I usually provide. If you are on a map that has reached T2/T3 then group with someone and taxi people into your map from the top of the hour, advertising it in LFG as a T4 map.
Then just spam this order of events, [Race > Moa > Frog > Queen > North Mine x3], I usually like to start the order from the currently active one. As long as the zerg follows that path and a very small number (3-5 is best) of people do the other event path starting at the Tendril (which can get more rewards but the events scale badly so you don’t want a zerg there) then you will easily reach T4 (with 10m to spare if you get the bonus favour).
You don’t need a guild raid or anything like that, just a simple guide for people to follow so they know which events to do. I.e. about as much organisation as you needed for the Queendale champ train. I only run maps for a couple of hours a day before work but I get T4 every time just by taxing people into my map and spamming that simple order of events for the zerg to do.
it just breaks the tension of the game, we are hunting down a deadly murderer and these two are just going on about how much they love each other. Anet sure know how to turn two potentially interesting characters into two obnoxious characters.
Except what you are saying simply isn’t true.
If you look at the dialogue from Cornered, the story instance where we are chasing the murderer you will see not a single piece of their dialogue is directed towards each other. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Cornered#Dialogues
And from the other story instances we are looking at one brief conversation in Fallen Hopes which amounts to Marjory saying “I’m okay now so no need to worry about me” and a couple of lines of dialogue in the first instance where Kasmeer is being overly protective and offering to take Marjory’s watch. The word Love isn’t mentioned once that I can recall.
This is why a lot of people criticizing the Marjory/Kasmeer relationship are called homophobic because they rely on blatant misrepresentations of the storyline to prove their points, which is usually the tactics of those with ulterior motives.
Hmm, maybe not for more things but it could be… we just don’t know yet.
You can always use them to buy some more keys if they don’t turn out to be needed in future content.
It will likely disappear when the next part comes out.
At the moment it can’t be removed which I think is something that needs to be fixed, although it’s not a major issue.
So you’ve got into a T4 map of Dry Top and want to know the most efficient way to get geodes for your rewards. Well here it is, follow this pattern of events in the order listed and you should get 110+ geodes an hour.
At top of the hour
- Crystal Race
- Moa
After 5m
- Nochtli
- Queen
After 10m
- North Mine
After 15m
- Crystal Race
- Moa
After 20m
- Nochtli
- Queen
After 25m
- North Mine
After 30m
- Crystal Race
- Moa
After 35m
- Nochtli
- Queen
Sandstorm appears at 40m mark
You want to be standing at the demolition gear near the mine at this point.
- Mine Blockade
- Escort Haze
- Skritt Burgler
After 45m
- Devourer Queen
After 50m
- Dust Twister
- Escort Haze (you may need to move between this event and twister to get credit for both)
After 55m
- Dust monster
This is of course the zerg route, if other people aren’t doing the other events that spawn on the map you won’t be getting T4, so not everyone can do this… but I was able to do it for 4 hours this morning for a total reward of 460 geodes (including some from dust).
The main problem here is that there are so many players who want to get the best stuff, but don’t want to take the time to organize or coordinate themselves. These types of players are prevalent in all MMOs. We call them leechers. So if there are 1,000 players who all want to get the max tier rewards, and 50 are willing to work together, the other 950 players all try to tag along because now there’s a group. Once the map gets hard capped, the remaining players complain instead of trying to fill a new map with each other.
Not really, the way it is designed it doesn’t make it easy to guide players into getting T4. To do it you need to complete events across the entire map that spawn in a variety of different locations and although they are at set times most people don’t even know where all the events are. A well designed game should not require players to study up on event spawn locations and strategies to complete. That isn’t fun and most people just won’t bother.
The Moa for example needs someone who can consistently stun her (a thief for preference, but a couple of other classes can also do it). And that event goes off every 10mins, so what if the person stunning her goes elsewhere in the meantime, the event now fails. In fact, I’ve rarely seen the Moa event succeed more than once/hour unless I’m personally there on my thief ensuring she is stunned.
The event in the north mine to encourage the Zepherites to escape, almost impossible without a number of people there at exactly the right time because they die too quickly. Even the one in the south mine to rescue the Zepherites from cages often fails because too few people turn up, or they all concentrate in one area instead of spreading out.
Instead what you get are people that move around the map doing event after event but without a visual guide on where to go (e.g. commanders who tag up to show where people need to go) it will rarely get to T4. Most of my attempts at organisation (with no commander tag of my own) get to T3 which I’m satisfied with, but if you gave me 3-4 people with commander tags who are willing to listen to me I could get to T4 all day long because there would be a visual guide for players to go to locations.
This was my problem with the pavilion as well. The events were designed for players to split up and tackle each boss at the same time, but it’s human nature for people to congregate together and the design of the map didn’t separate players into different areas. Had I been designing that area I would have got rid of the gold requirement to spawn them altogether and had 6 separate circles that a minimum of 5 players had to stand in to activate the event. Each circle would lead to a ramp down into the area where the boss spawned. That’s all that would be needed and players be guided into the right strategy without forcing them.
Now take the current map, there is nothing that guides players to the events they need for T4. It relies on players knowing where the events are and when they spawn. Now I’ve read a guide so I do know the spawn times for each event and where each of them is, but is it reasonable to expect everyone to know that? No it isn’t. You can’t force players to study to have fun, but as a consequence of this a map without significant organisation will fail to reach T4.
That said, I think the current map is a lot better than the Pavilion because it doesn’t get harder when you fail to reach the T4 level you just get less rewards. The Pavilion was significantly easier if you could kill all the bosses at once than it was to take them down one at a time which is doubly punishing those who can’t get the gold level with less rewards and a tougher fight. That was a poorly designed event, with the current map I see T4 as a bonus to rewards you are already getting anyway so it’s not really punishing people who don’t get T4, so it is a big improvement.
I would agree, mainly because the past two updates have both included this sort of mechanic. They need to move onto something new and exciting as there is only so many ways you can do this type of content.
The mine gate opens at XX:05, XX:20 and XX:35 (where XX = current hour) server time.
instead of releasing several months worth of story in one expansion as everyone else does.
Players would OCD and complete it in a week, two tops. Then complain there’s
nothing new.
And then we’d have a 6-12 month wait for the next lot of content to come out.
I would consider the jumping puzzle + diving goggles group content for me as I needed 2 portals each attempt (and 14 attempts) before I got them done.
Clicking replay resets that particular episode of the living story so you can do it again. However, it doesn’t mean you have to do it again to move on to the next part. When the next part is released you can start that without completing the previous steps of the story again.
I’m not sure with your question about the journal page text for the story as I’m not in game atm.
You can only get the rewards once/character. Multiple runs are for achievements only.
Because Llamas make everything better.
http://www.rojothellama.com/ (scroll down for pirate Llamas… so awesome!)
You can get a lot of the season 1 rewards from the laurel vendor now, including many of the items that you could purchase with the festival tickets. They cost a fair few laurels (25 I think) + some gold, but they are there if you need them.
Someone on reddit a day or so ago was talking about a hidden room near the base of the pale tree that had suddenly changed colours to black and red as if it was corrupted. I assume he meant the hidden sauna which you get to via the northern lake, but I haven’t been to check myself yet.
The best was is to get to tier 3/4 in favour and then do the events in the sandstorm as they give extra geodes (I believe it is twice the normal amount). Also as the tier goes up, so does the rewards. I believe these are the rewarded geode amounts
Tier 1: 2 (4 in sandstorm)
Tier 2: 3 (6)
Tier 3: 4 (8)
Tier 4: 5 (10)
You can probably get 4-5 events done in the sandstorm which are save the zepherites from dust mites, save haze, burgler, queen, dust monster (tier 3-4 only). So doing a tier 4 instance you might get as much as 70-80 geodes per hour.
Read the rest of the post. Also, read the forums. You’ll find people complaining about the characters left, right, and center.
Yes but it’s the same people over and over and over again.
That vine has been there for at least a day, and most likely was always there. I noticed it yesterday and probably missed it the first time through because I was focusing on the story quest.
You forgot Faolain, Caithe’s lesbian lover, because you know, we need more lesbian love plots!
Yes, yes we do indeed.
I propose that Queen Jennah forgets all about that silly Logan fellow and hooks up with Countess Anise.
(edited by Lasica.5068)
Probably bugged for you. I did him about an hour ago on my Ele and he wasn’t that tough at all.
I was having some issues with the red circles for grenades not showing though, but I just kept moving and avoid enough of them to survive.
Do you have the one from the inquest cave. I was at 29/30 and that was the one I was missing.
When you choose to repeat the story, although it links back to the start of the story if you look at the map you’ll see new purple icons for each individual part of the story. Go to them and you can just repeat the part you want to.
Nope. Belinda is a new npc since the living story. She wasn’t in Fort Salma at all before that.
She was in Fort Salma during the later parts of S1 of the living story and had a little bit of dialogue when you spoke to her. She then disappeared from Fort Salma during the aftermarth of S1 which was when she was at the Dead End and then she disappeared again and did not reappear until this S2 story instance. It is possible she will return to Fort Salma further on in S2.
Well I didn’t complete everything in a day like a lot of the other living world updates so there seems to be plenty to do.
The living story parts are permanent. I’m not sure about the events on the new map (the crash etc) as they could potentially revamp that area as the story moves onwards.
Here you go, http://www.kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=2036&name=Ritter+Steel+No-Dachi
Not sure they have it in black though.
There are also a number of hints from the people in the village about making shipments of copper to people further on (who I assume are bandits given the presence of Riot Alice who was a bandit in the original personal story).
It’s possible that Aerin discovered something on the ship that meant that he had to sabotage it to prevent something bad from happening. After all, he didn’t appear overly insane when he got on the ship so something must have happened to him up there.
