Beatrice The Bloody, Norn Engineer
Gate of Madness
Obviously Arah, but dry bones and sylvari tier 2 cultural work pretty well for a sexy female necro.
Grenades/elixirs is still a viable and effective build for all aspects of the game; it’s just a lot less interesting than the multi-kit builds.
Here’s my Norn engineer in the Krytan chest piece, tier 1 cultural legs, CM boots, and tier 2 gloves. I think this fits the bill. You can also use the TA chest for a more elegant look.
I have run a grenades/elixirs build through fractals level 30 and dungeon master. In this set up, I believe I am extremely useful in providing solid aoe damage, stacking vulnerability (so your whole group is doing 10-15% more damage), condition removal, aoe rez circle, and short cool down aoe blindness. CC is also useful. I don’t recommend it for speed clearing dungeons, but it’s a great build for higher level fractals and harder dungeons.
A very simple, effective build for dungeons is a grenades/elixirs build. I have run fractals through 30 and dungeon master, and I’ve never had any complaints with this build. I am traited 30/0/0/30/10 and usually run elixirs B and R, switching in U and S, depending on the situation. I am in a combination of knight’s and berserker gear. Your job is to provide decent damage, vulnerability, and condition removal for the group; blind is also useful. You can use rifle (for better single target control and moving target damage) or pistol/shield (for the extra sigil if you’re usually in grenades, and for more blinds and daze).
I have been in Norn tier 2 cultural armor since pretty much the beginning of the game. I came up with two new looks for my lovely engineer.
I got bored of my traditional Norn tier 2 armor, and came up with two new looks for my engineer. Here are her ‘glamour girl’ and ‘hot pants’ ensembles.
I understand the ‘Golden’ title—it displays that you’re good at saving or good at playing the trading post. Who would display a ‘Dungeon Master’ title if they can’t even run the dungeons?
I have a bigger problem with the people who buy the spots than the people who sell the spots. ‘Dungeon Master’ is a purely cosmetic title—it’s not an obstacle to getting loot you need for other parts of the game. Why on earth would you buy a title you didn’t earn? Who would display such a title? Simin is difficult the first time you encounter her, but if you make the effort to coordinate with your group on the sparks/tears, and switch to more dps oriented traits/gear, the average group should be able to do it.
For now, when you go to gw2lfg.com to find a group, be sure to check the box ‘doing everything’. I also specify ‘be competent and polite’. I just completed dungeon master and had very pleasant runs through all the dungeons when I made these expectations known.
I would love to have a forum to discuss various armor skins and get advice on which armor set ups look best for my characters. I can always post to the appropriate race or class forum, but it would be nice to have a single place where fashion-minded folks can find one another.
Norn! (Or Charr…) They handle the big guns the best. I’ve been thinking about swapping my Spectral Wave Modulator for Charzooka, but I am so fond of the flashy. Here’s my babe in her ‘hot pants’ ensemble.
If you’re going for a legendary, you have to readjust your expectations and learn that mastering the trading post is part of what is required. At the end of December I had 3 gold. I used one trading post scheme to turn that 3 gold into 50 gold, and then I found another scheme to turn that 50 gold into over 800 gold. Now I have Frostfang. I wish the legendaries weren’t so heavily skewed (~75%) toward gold making abilities. Hopefully they will add those mythical scavenger hunts, or people will be rewarded more for higher level fractals, dungeons, dragons, jumping puzzles, etc. As it stands now, however, if you want the pretty, shiny object, you need to be either really lucky, or learn to trade well.
All the gem store skins show up in the pvp armor locker. You can test out the dyes there before you decide to buy the armor. I’ve noticed the midnight dyes show up really washed out on the profane armor. No problems with the krytan armor on my leather wearers.
I’ve run a pretty standard grenade/elixir build through fractal 30. I use Elixir B and R, changing in U and S as needed; currently traited 30/0/0/30/10. I am in a mix of knight’s and berserker gear. It’s not a particularly exciting build to play, but I think it is one of the most effective builds for the average person to use. It has decent sustained aoe damage, and provides vulnerability and condition removal for the group.
The blue/gray shine is driving me crazy on the tier 1 light outfit. If you go into your graphics options and turn ‘shaders’ down to low, you’ll get rid of the problem, but the rest of your game won’t look as great. Let’s just try to submit as detailed feedback as we can, and hopefully they will fix this problem.
Sylvari! I love the angel of death tier 2 armor. Here’s a picture of mine (with her new Frostfang!):
I just got Frostfang for my lovely sylvari necromancer.
I finally got Frostfang for my lovely necro.
As for aggro, a large part of the calculation is proximity and armor rating. Often my guardian friend is doing the least amount of damage in a group, but still holds aggro comfortably.
I’ve gotten to scale 30 in fractals and done a smattering of other dungeons with a grenade/elixir build. I am traited 30/0/0/30/10 for might stacking and condition removal and usually run elixir b and r, but throw in elixir s and u as needed. Not the most exciting build, but I still think grenades are the easiest way to be effective as an engineer in a dungeon.
