I have an idea, actually. As it was with the old Mesmer get-togethers … perhaps we, as a forum, should start a duel/practice setup. Could be interesting as all hell, although I imagine it may be a pain to setup, considering everyone’s schedule.
Wow that’s ironic. Just yesterday Pyro and I spoke about a similar idea, I think we should get this rolling in another thread.
Please do it. :o
Do you even realize how freaking much work they would have to put in to create the effects found on things like Twilight, Sunrise and Juggernaut in all 403 different dyes?
Wouldn’t necessarily need to dye the blade effects, just the hilt and guard.
Followup: Do you realize how freaking much rage it would cause if you could not dye the blade, and by extension, the particle effects, in all 403 different dyes?
Maybe I’m wrong, but I assume that ANet has an algorithm for applying dyes on gears. I’m not expecting that adding this possibility may request a review on all 403 dyes 1 after 1. I repeat, maybe I’m wrong.
I understand your point of view, but I think also that we need more reasons to make a Legendary. I’m pretty sure most of us at the moment make them only for the achiev… Personally, if I have to spend a lot of time on collect materials and such, I want that my Legendary would be perfect for my character. I’m not talking about customize the aspect, only dyes. As ANet understood that it was bad to have fixed stats on em, though they are “very specific weapons” as you said. Same things applies on dyes, in my opinion. But it’s a point of view.
Well, soon Legendaries will have access to all Stat combo’s outside of combat. Couple that with that they’ll always be upgraded to be on par with highest tier, Legendaries will be gear that you’ll essentially never have to change.
That convenience is enough for me to pursue one (as soon as they bring the craft-able precursors in)
I agree, ANet is doing totally right on this. That’s what I meant: they understood that to have fixed stats on Legendaries wasn’t good. So they are changing this, allowing us to customize stats. This is the “main buff” they are making for us. It’s awesome for sure… Cause they make Legendaries more customizable on our own character. But on the build point of view.
I’m asking myself… what about the appeareance? We are so used to craft exotic weapons in the mystic forge, a lot of time collecting mats for them, and we don’t do this for the stats (we can do dgs and use tokens – fast and easy). We do it for skins, for the appearence. You say that a Legendary would be a gear you wont never have to change… It’s true, if you don’t care about appearence, or if you are lucky and you like how the Legendary fits on you. I’m pretty sure it’s not a common situation, and I think that give us the possibility to change their dyes would easily solve this dilemma.
I think that make all the other weapons dyeable could be a very long work to do, ANet could not have time for that at the moment… And the possibility of make only legendaries dyeable, wont make them more “special”?
I suppose it depends. There’s two ways you can look at it.
From one point of view, yes, since they’d be the only ones dyable. At the same time, no, because Legendaries would be a very specific skin. I’d say the same should apply to all named weapons as well (Volcanus, Foefire’s Essence ect).
As for it being a lot of work, they could reduce this by adding a Hue slider, limiting the colours available. Maybe limiting to crafted weapons, where you apply the colour in the crafting UI.

I dunno. I’d have gone the opposite and said make other weapons dyable (or at least have a Hue slider), and keep Legendaries as they are.

I want to say also that many of exotic weapons are relative to class-weapon-skills in game. For example: Vision Of The Mists, Foefire’s Essence ecc… I think it’s correct that they have a own colour. If you dont like the dye of an exotic, you could choose for another one instead… We have really a lot of exotic to choose. Legedaries… We have one per type (except the GS obv) and maybe we will have 2 after the update, but still we won’t be able to choose a proper legendaries that would fit our appearence colours.

Hi, first of all I’m sorry about language mistakes that I will make for sure, but I hope the message is still clear.
We know ANet is working on updates for legendaries weapons… What about make em dyeable?
I guess that making all weapons dyeable is a long work (and maybe a kinda non-sense work) and obviously there are much more important things to do then loosing time on “appearence”.
But since ANet is working on legendaries at the moment, and I suppose that we wont have thousands of legendaries in game, I think that let the users choose the colours could be a very appreciated gift.
We have so many dyes to use… ANet did a really good job about the customization of the personal aspect and armour of our characters.
Also, we have a lot of exotic cool looking weapons to choose, with different colours and animations... But we need at least a legendary one to “complete” the game (also for the achievment of course), and its kinda annoying that we cant choose one that fits the rest of our appearence!
I have read a lot of topics and suggestions that requested some “buffs” on the legendaries… And !now! ANet is working on this “buff”. I know they will do a great job anyway, but as I said, since they are working on it… Is this a viable buff too? I think so. And if you agree with me, please help making sure ANet will read this topic.
Thank you
