Antara, I’m sorry to hear your time with us in TBT did not go well. I don’t know what happened exactly or what your concerns were, but personally I’ve had the most fun on GW2 since joining TBT and have learned a great deal. Yes, our recruiting/ wvw requirements may seem a bit strict at first but we do advertise as a “semi- hardcore wvw guild” so some regulations are to be expected. I hope you understand the necessity of keeping high standards and requirements in order to have successful guild runs.

I’m sure a lot of servers will fit your description. Idk if your on EU or NA but I personally play on Anvil Rock, and there are a lot of PVE concentrated guilds that do PVE farming all day. AR also runs temples and the worldboss train daily. Although our rank in WvW is low, I will say we are a competitive and skilled bunch, we always put up a good fight which I’m sure other servers can vouch for. We have many WvW committed guilds (TBT, INC, Zero, KAOS, TFH, WAR… just to name a few) who run every night. From my experience everyone I’ve met on AR is friendly, of course there’s always gonna be a kitten or two on every server that’s unavoidable. AR is a growing server with lots of potential, we’d be happy if you’d join us!

I wasn’t really looking to transfer, I think our server has a commitment to be better in WvW with more and more WvW guilds starting up, we just don’t have the coverage to win against larger population servers. I just wish people would fight and not hide in their keeps especially when they have more than enough numbers to put up good fights if they wanted to. Maybe limit the amount of siege that is allowed to be built to limit the turtling in keeps and find a way to promote fights (better rewards??).

Idk about the higher tiers but these lower tier matchups are pretty much World v Door. What’s with everyone avoiding fights? People have been running, hiding in keeps & sieging up like it’s a zombie apocalypse, and waypointing out to avoid fights even though they clearly outnumber us 2:1 or 3:1. The last two weeks matchups have been a complete bore, it sucks too because our server has been winning almost all of the fights but we don’t have enough coverage so we lose in the end, thus we will never get to move up. Do people only care about capping and points now? I love WvW but this is getting old, to see a huge zerg, pumped up to fight them only to see them run everytime.

I’m no pro wvwer but i do run with guild a lot and coming from a smaller server (AR) I agree lower population makes it harder not so much in fights (a good guild group of 20-30) can wipe a larger zerg but more so coverage. I find our server has many skilled players we just dont have enough to cover so many borderlands. The only issue with match ups based on performance and population is that it eliminates the chance of a lower population server ever moving up to fight larger population servers which in most cases is more fun because of all the fights

I don’t think only having WvW during specific hours of the day would work. Yes it might bring larger server involvement but it would make it hard for people who want to roam as it would just be all zergs running around. Also all the timezones involved some people might not even be able to play.

It’s definitely a lot harder if you’re in a pug group cause it’s disorganized. If your group is organized (guild) and have a good commander (that always helps) and know his/her style of commanding it obviously makes it a lot easier. I suggest using auto run and using the mouse to change directions during the fight and that way its a lot easier concentrating on skills and staying alive.

Warrior is by far easiest to solo PvE with, you can solo with a Guard but since most of their skills are group support, warrior might be the better choice for you if you’re gonna solo. Tarnished Coast is the most populated server. Jade Quarry, Sea of Sorrows, and Blackgate are pretty populated too. I suggest joining a guild, make friends then you wont be alone!

The one area in Malchor’s Leap or Straits where the risen cast like a gazillion Chaos Storms on you constantly. So annoying

You can either buy equips off TP if you have some gold to spare or pick it up through loot. Finishing personal story quests also will give you equips as rewards. I don’t have a charr so i cant personally comment on the story quests but if you can find someone to do them with you to make it easier. Check the warrior subforums for leveling builds and advice might make it easier! Good luck!

Although I’ve only recently joined TBT (2 days…), i can honestly say I’ve had the most fun playing GW2 these last two days. TBT is filled with active players who are extremely helpful and friendly. There is always something going on, whether its dungeons, guild events, WvW, or just farming. Most guilds on AR I’ve joined in the past are dying maybe 10-15 people on at most. TBT there’s always at least 30-40 players on if not more. It’s so much fun playing WvW with the guild, feel like the Riders of Rohan (with no horses) charging at enemy zergs and wiping them, even when they outnumber us. If you’re looking to have fun and play with awesome people TBT is the guild to join!

Thanks everyone for your input! I’ll try out different things over the next couple weeks and hopefully see some improvement. I think my issue is not knowing what to do in dungeons/ fractals because of inexperience. I don’t think I’m utilizing my utility skills enough and dodging effectively, and as someone stated above it probably has to do with lack of battle awareness and knowing when to use what, thus I’m being downed more than i should.

I tried a shatter build while I was still leveling and a bit when I first hit 80, I liked it for the most part but again I felt like my skills let me down as I felt like my shatter timings were off and I wasnt using the shatters effectively so i would die a lot. Maybe I’ll try it out again now that I’ve gotten a little better since then. I switched to Phantasm because it seems that it is the best PVE meta from what I’ve read, since most other builds revolve around PVP or aren’t viable in PVE.

I guess I’m just being downed a lot making other players have to come help me. Should I switch out some of my zerker gear for some toughness? I think I need to work on my dodging and utilizing my utility skills more. My DPS is pretty good using Duelist and Warden, however there’s that period during the cooldowns or when I have 3 phantasms up, where I’m not sure what I should do. I’m using sw/p & sw/f for dungeons/ frac and GS & sw/p or f for open world PVE.

Hello everyone,
I seem to be struggling as a mesmer. Been playing GW2 for about a month now, I have a level 80 mesmer as my first char currently running a 10/20/0/25/15 phantasm build all zerk gear. I currently only PVE, I haven’t even bothered to PVP as I know I would get owned. For the most part I’m okay at open world PVE, a little squishy here and there and struggle a bit with larger mobs with the lack of AoE. I’ve done 1 or 2 dungeons & low level fractals but I feel like I’m always slowing the group down because of my lack of skill at playing Mesmer. Maybe it’s just my lack of knowledge since I’m a new player, but I feel like I’m just lacking in overall skill. I’ve seen videos of other mesmer players so I know the potential of the class. I’m not really sure how anyone can really help me with my Mesmer skills cause that’s up to my own skill level, but any tips on how to be more proficient would be great! Perhaps I just need to play more and develop those skills over time or maybe Mesmer just isn’t the right profession for me and I just suck. Sorry if this is pretty vague, I don’t really know a specific area where I need help it’s more just overall improvement. Again any tips on getting better would be great! Thanks!

Thanks! I love the Phoenix Armor, definitely one of the best armor skins in the game IMO. I’ve recently gone for a more angelic color scheme though for the “glowing” effect haha.
