Full headline: Hero Points: Champions vs. time limit vs. missing players

First something about me: I’m a Veteran, played Guild Wars nearly since the very beginning and have about 25 characters. I’m really enjoying it to play my characters through all the campaigns and to all places on the map. All of my characters are able to travel to all cities/outposts in a second. This is especially convenient for helping guild mates or friends.

As for Guild Wars 2, I do the same thing: 100 % Map with all of my characters. Yeah, I might take every waypoint instead, but it feels … incomplete. So all of my characters have 100 % of the main game. I even took all the Vistas and Points of Interests of Silverwastes, Southstone Cove and Dry Top, even there is no reward for it. It’s just for the sake of completeness and no profit motive.

Now there is Heart of Thorns with it’s (partially) new mechanic of Hero Points. Now you have to defeat champions instead of just Veterans. Some of them are fine. You can take them out/solo them, if you are stubborn and your skills are high enough and maybe some other players join the fight = easy going. At least most the time. Because there are at least two exceptions: Verdant Brink: Vampire Beasts. Tangled Depths: Mushroom Queen. Maybe there is one or two more, but especially these two challenges are hefty. At the moment there are luckily enough players to deal with them. But very soon the time will come you have do deal with them on your very own.

Today my second character has his 100 % HoT. And the most time I had exactly this problem: No players. So I used the LfG and luckily players joined the fight. But I guess, it’s just a question of time, until most people will lose interest. In both cases (see above). I had to wait, until we had enough players. The Mushroom Queen requires at least 5 players and even then, it’s more luck beating this kitten. I guess she even could easily take out Modremoth. But there is more: You have to deal with them under a time limit.
I noticed, my Condition classes are way more effective against them. More CC, more damage, easier to recover. Direct damage classes need often longer. But so far I just played my strong characters; characters I do have much practise playing them. Soon I will play less offensive classes like supporting or healing classes. I managed it to do 100 % in the main game, but this Hero Points are one size too big. Way too tough Champions with tons of HP and a time limit. I’m afraid of dealing with them in the near future.

As I said: At the moment there are enough players for the most time. But time will pass very quick. With locations like Dragon’s Stand and Tangled Depths I assume players won’t complete HoT as often as the rest of Tyria. Probably they will skip hard Hero Points. I would suggest to consider the difficulty of the Champion hero points in the interest of most of the players. Remove the time limit, make them easier. I don’t mind, if they upscale to Champion level, but only if there are enough players around. And btw: The Mushroom king just spams his AoE’s and there is simply not enough space.

From the Treasure Mushroom?

I defeated the Itzel Champion (Itzel Leaderhip Mastery) today and did not get any reward (no loot, no chest). It was the second time I defeated him. My first try was yesterday (with reward).

First try and got a chest with crappy loot (I did not expect anything else). The Boss was very hard to solo, but I managed it and I will retry every day.

Based on the decription the reward of every Mastery Boss fight seems different. My next goal is to complete the Nuhoch and the Exalted Boss Mastery, so I can loot each chest per day. I still hope that I’m wrong. I hope for a easier way to get these skins (no RNG).

Uhm, why buggy? Did I missed something?

I have a new idea: Maybe the loot box is a (rare) drop after defeating the Itzel and/or Nuhoch Champion. Either way you have to complete the 5th level of the according mastery. It is quite possible, that you can earn these skins here: Most people dont have this mastery, because they focusing the Gliding Mastery. So only a small amount of players do have these Masterys. =>Less drops from these events.
I will complete the Itzel Leadership today and hope for the best.

Maybe it isn’t. But … you are right. It really sounds strange.

But besides: We still dont know, if the Mushrooms really drop the chest. It’s frustrating.

What is the invisible mushroom king tyranus event like?

I gained a mastery point for attacking this guy. Like the other mushrooms the king does not attack, but also does not flee. His life seems limitless. Even if you beat the crap out of him and bring his health points to 0, he wont give any response.

There’s also an Invisible Mushroom King Tyranus (in Auric Basin — to the east of Wanderer’s Waypoint on ground level) that I haven’t actually been able to kill yet. I tried killing him outright, breaking the defiance bar (multiple times), killing the Queen (that is nearby) first and then killing/breaking Tyranus. No luck. It may also be a drop from him.

I visitited Tyrannus just a couple of minutes ago and tried my best (same thoughts you had). No effect.

All mushrooms dead. Next try tomorrow. Would be nice, if a developer could confirm, so we dont try for nothing.

How often can you do these events a day? Just one time in each area? What about muliple characters?

If it is bad RNG, we are doomed. One week and no drop = We will never get them. I still hope, they can be crafted. Did anyone tried to throw the Invisible Slot Bags in the Mystic Forge?

BTW: Killed 5 Invisible Mushrooms and I will kill more (just in case). But if it is RNG, I dont have any hope …

Last night I remembered this little girl in Beetletun, talking about a
barefooted Norn Woman in Divinitys Reach. I checked the girl, if she has something else/something new to tell => nothing. This line is ingame since the beginning, so I guess it has no deeper meaning after all. And yes: I checked Divinitys Reach also
(random sampling). Oh, and yes: I also checked the girl with my own (barefooted) Norn. Nothing at all.

Can we please get a hint? I feel totaly lost …

Did you guys figured out, how to craft this “footwear”?

I just got disconected while doing a dungeon. My party window disappeared and it seems, i got no party after all. But I’m still in my teams party and I can not rejoin the dungeon.

Asking for this since the first time I played a Charr and there are a lot, lot more players asking for this option. It’s about time.

Racism, ehh? I remember a NPC conversation in the old Lion’s Arch (GW 2). He or she (it was a Asura, I think) said, the most advanced and intelligent races are:
1.) Asura (top)
2.) Sylvari
3.) Charr
4.) Human
5.) Norn (bottom)

At that time and as mainly human characters player I was really kittened.

Finaly … I had to make many compromises in my latest video, because of the missing first person view. Now things will become much easier (unfortunately a little bit to late). Thanks anyway!

I remember when i first played an elementalist – it was horrible. Nearly each battle I got downed. At max level he is very nice. But leveling was painfull. The same with thief (on damage). But my second thief, a conditioner, was great. Now he is one of my favorites. Very recommendable. Engineer had a damage lack … at least for me (Flamethrower). With the Grenadekit he is fun to play, also Conditioner/De-Cap/Turreter (name it, what you want). I suggest Rangers, Warriors and Guardians. Nothing really wrong with these and very easy to play.

Race? Only one answer: Charr, because Charr!

How to play good Dodgeball:
1.) Start GW 1
2.) Roll a ele.
3.) Invite + confront your friends to GvG (all elementalists).
4.) All wear low armor with maxed Lightning magic.
5.) Only use Lightning Orb!
6.) Have fun.

Hard enough to get the Treasure Hunter Achievement on regular way (whatever the dropchance is …), but with this event-chains bugged since the beginning, it’s all washed up.

Update: Playing this character was really fun, therefore I was very fast. I also was very lucky with the WvW-Map-Rotation. Used the level 20 scroll and 2 or 3 tomes for one level up.

She’s a warrior, but it would look fine on a guardian too.

Very simple: In there powerlessness the Charr saw the huge power of the human gods. So they created there own gods. Or in other words: They found in the Titans there own personalization of gods. The Shamans/Shaman Caste led them in the name of (fiery) gods. Simultaneously the Shamans betrayed there people, because they knew, the titans were not true gods/the gods the Charr were looking for. The Shamans only searched for power; the power to controll, conquer and destroy. Pyre Fierceshot started a revolt, a couple of years after the searing (the day, the Charr invaded Ascalon) and free his enslaved people (especially sat the foundation for freeing the female Charr some years later) from the Shamans and there false gods. On that day he announced, that Charr does’nt have gods and dont need gods. And as you see: After the Charr broke the Shaman chains, they achieved true greatness. Reflecting on the slavery and the scam the Shamans did, and the progress the Charr did after they left the Shamans behind, it is not surprising, that they still refusing to obey some “gods”.

Hero of the People achievement is also broken. Does not start too.

I have used some of the required items, I also bought and equipped the Courage. The achievments still do not show up in the panel.

New players will deal with it, because they do not know better. Veterans have tomes for quick leveling, so I do. I couldn’t care less.

Btw.: Someone (German language knowledge required) just told me, he did 10 levels in about a hour.

Shadow Assassin Armor, not an outfit, so we can put different Armor sets together. Finally some beast-looking footwear for Mid-Armor-classes and we can’t merge -.-

Topic: Just like the picture says: “Ignorance”. Start your own groups or search for more class-friendly-groups. I have over 18 k points, 19 characters, Rank 80 PvP and only join teams without any requirement. Even terms like “exp”, “fast”, “skilled” in the LFG-Tool are contrary to me. I like playing with casuals and people like me. This is my style, and I am happy with it.

I did the map completion a couple of times, so I know, what points players (and me) miss often. Go check this point here:

This one looks really nice (I found it in the Screenshot-Gallery). I guess, it is Townclothing, so you can not mix this armor (not sure about that).
