I’m looking for leggings as short and slightly as possible, so you can see more from the fur. Very short ones are the Vigil’s Honor leggings. The town clothes leggings are the best choice, but obviously you can’t wear them with your normal armor …

The tribal-armor is nice and a good a good starting for beast-armors. I really like my new necromancers look and I wish I had more like this here. No boots, just ornaments for your feet.

As a charr I fully support this as boots on charr look stupid.

Most boots look stretched, blocky and oddly disproportionate.

Not to mention, that it seems impossible for Charr to dress boots. I’m serious: How do they manage this?

My initial enthusiasm on discovering the Masquerade boots was quickly dashed too upon experimenting with dyes and learning that I could do nothing about the white parts.

Like I said: With the right fur, it looks good. But I agree with you: A option for recoloring the white parts would be nice.

Because of the Masquerade Armor I was thrilled to become Rank 30. I felt disappointed, because of that white dye, you can not redye. It misfits with other bright colors (yellow, orange, …) or dark colors. And you also have to wear skimpy armor, or it looks really bad. But with white fur it really looks nice, especially on male characters. With the females dark footpad it’s not that cool.

For light-armor-classes you can also use the Nightmare Court Footwraps. Does it’s job good, but the upper shoe is a little bit to above average.

For Warriors and Guardians you can wear the Legion Boots. But there is this i dont know what floating near to the ankle. The Drednough Warboots are the only option you have, but you have to deal with these strange straps under your feet.

I was really hopefull, to get the Cook-Boots as unique item with the Wardrobe, because these are looking half-decent. But you have to wear the whole armor. So all Medium-Armor-Classes are still waiting …

Post Pics of your Barefeet-Charr and discuss to support our concern.

… walk barefoot. It’s the Charrs nature. Many of the Flame Legion does is (even Baelfire) and Citizens all around of Tyria. And if you take a closer look on the Charr in Guild Wars 1, you will also see, that all walking barefoot (except for Pyre Fierceshot).

I still miss the option, to hide your footware. Alternatively good looking beast-footware, especially for the Medium-Armor-Classes. Everytime, a new armor is available in the gem-store, I thrilled to see, if something like this is coming. But
I always get disappointed. Gosh, I even would pay for unlock the option.

You have to see it from Anet’s side of view not just the players. Anet wants to make money (nothing wrong with that, it’s a part of business), GW2 is not offered with a subscription fee therefore it’s difficult to accomplish. The profit comes from the Black Lion Market and the purchase of the game itself. With so many games around in the last years it takes a lot of effort and good marketing that attracts a wide range of customers and keeps them in the game as well.

I agree with you: There is nothing wrong with making money with the shop. But the coin has two sides: ArenaNet and the players. Good content makes playing the game more enjoyable and vice versa. => If players are happy, they will play the game constantly, they will spend more money in the game, the community grows. Like the developers said: They made the game for the players. But this isn’t, what the topic is about.

If we look at your proposal/poll we see that some people do not like the 2 week method of updates (lets not discuss why), while others do enjoy having content that switches every 2 weeks. It is difficult to please every player and in some cases that might not be possible. Anet has to make the decision of going with the so called “veterans/old school” players/community, or focusing on newer players or the so called “casual” player in the long run.

You have to keep in mind that not everybody has the same opinion when it comes to your proposal. I for one do enjoy the change of content and achievements. Some of the Achievements are unique and shouldn’t be repeated. A lot of people log in once every two weeks just to get those achievements, weapon skins or different armor etc. before going back to other games. Anet would be missing out on those called “spontaneous” log ins that happen every 2 weeks, and most people would get bored very quickly since GW2 has no so called end game content like other games.

The poll is a clear indicator: What does the community think about the content-policy. Platon said something like: “I don’t know the way to success, but a sure way to failure: Want to make everyone happy.” We need both: fleeting content and steady content. Off course: You can’t please everyone, this is impossible, but you can make compromises.
Especially the Veterans – like you said – are very displeased about the content and things like ascended items. The things they loved are missing and are lost forever it seems.
All I can say for sure is, that the players attitude to the content like Flame and Frost was significantly better then todays content.

I just read, that players are very displeased with the zerging-mechanic in the open world. But this isn’t ArenaNets fault in particular. The players are just doing it, and no one is forcing them. Splitting the living story in five separate culture-parts would counteract this problem a little, bringing storylines in instances with scaling difficulty in addition (right now the players are complaining, because of the less teamplay and challenge. Most of them prefer small teams and disprize events like Tequatl).

As a person with light armor, I probably wouldn’t notice the difference. Some light armor is already pretty much the same thing as running around naked. I’ve always wanted the option to hide gloves though. >:

I fondly remember the Elementalist’s armor in Guild Wars 1. Many of them offer no obviously protection, like the Asuran Armor or the Elite Iceforged Armor. Someday the people have accepted it.

It seems no one has ever bothered it, that Flame-Legion-Shamans are nearly naked. I really like their look, especially their footwear. This bad-kitten -style would be perfect for my Necromancer (except the cloves). This is how beast-armors should look like. In this case I would not need to hide any armorpieces.

Concerning the Asura-Race, I think their style is alright. But again: Footwear is problematic. There are just a few Boots with no toes looking out of them (expensive/Gemshop). Either more closed shoes or the option to hide their footwear please.

While I was playing the Living Story (Invasion of Fields of Ruin), I made a detour to the Varimhold-Outpost in the north-west corner of the map. Even there, so far away from the Black Citadel and the Charr-Starting-Area and such a hostile environment, you can see a lot Charr wearing no boots. Then there is the Dewclaw Village in south of Iron Marches: About or even more then 50 % of the NPC’s live there do not wear boots as well, and it appears, that they have no disadvantage while fighting. I can only repeat myself: It seems to be nothing special for Charr.
In the later game the only Charr you can see are members of the Pact (Durmand/Vigil/Whispers). In this case you only can see them wearing the Armor of their order (identifying feature). In all other cases it is devided (Area of Ascalon and Citys).

I have to admit that hiding boots is not always presentable. I’m playing a Mesmer and a Necromancer. Both of them are wearing a similar armor. I really like the style of the Ash-Legion, so my Mesmer has there typical appearance (T1 Boots, Coat and helmet , Ascalon Pants; the Acoltyhe-Shoulders looks great in this combination). Hiding boots
does’nt look good in this case. The same applies to my Necromancer. The Invoker’s Boots fit perfectly.
As a counter-example: I playing two warriors. They wear a similar armor. Hiding there footwear looks significantly better in both cases.
Then I do have a Ingineer, the only Charr without Sole-open-Boots (because something like this does not exist). He has the Magitech Boots, but I put them off more and more, so I play with only 5 armorpieces. I also have given him a new Furcolor a few days ago (his fur was brown with black stripes) and bought him very short Leggins to underline his new look.
It would be much easier to have the mentioned possibility to hide boots, or really good looking beast-footwear for all three profession types. And it would be great for the Roleplay!

BTW: In the Urban Battlegrounds (Fractal of mists) you may play a Charr no wearing boots. No disadvantage, so the optical possibilities do exist.

Impossible. Charr armor is based on their hunched figure. Plus, it would be lore-breaking. Standing upright was an unnatural cultural practice of Flame Legion shamans. Since Flame Legion is now hated, and their culture rejected, a charr who altered his natural stance to be upright would be scorned. It’s probably not only harmful to the body, but it would make the charr a less capable soldier. If human soldiers had to bend over 24-7 due to a cultural norm, they would make poor fighters

How do you know? I’m very interested in the GW-Lore. Can you give me a link please?

?

Hiding some clothes could be an option. As some do look pretty bad in certian cases, or if you are going for a particular look. (I for one, have a barbaric looking ranger with axes. Little armor as possible.) So, I don’t mind that, but if there’s too much hidden, we’ll be having everyone running around in their skivvies!

In the beginning, perhaps. But I am sure that these players be sick of this very fast. In my opionion only hiding boots is plenty enough, especially for Asura and Charr.

Actually Charr armour, as with almost all armour in the game, is based on the Human model, and simply stretched over the Charr model, with exception to a few different armours, mostly cultural (but not all cultural armours, as can be witnessed by T3 Light, which was obviously designed for a Human model).

I agree with you on the first point, but I took a look on the T3 Light armor … In this regard I can not agree with you. Just matter of opinion I guess.

First off: I’m a subeditor off the german Wartower-Community. Lately we did a poll relating to the Living-Story-Content. As if you probably all know, a large part of the community isn’t very pleased.

Lebendige Geschichte oder klassische Addons?

Interessiert mich nicht (1.6%)

Anderer Vorschlag (1.9%)

14-tägige Updates wie bisher (3.7%)

Nicht so häufige Updates der lebendigen Geschichte (12.0%)

14-tägige Updates mit mehr bleibendem Inhalt (28.6%)

Nur klassische Addons mit bleibendem Inhalt (52.2%)

Stimmen: 2525

Result condensed: 52,2 % of 2.525 players like to have the classic Addons with more lasting content. Only 3,7 % like the way it is. I have to admit, that I’m part of the 52,2 %. I’d like more lasting content and do not like this two week circle.

In contrast: The Flame and Frost-Content was great, and also our Community felt like this. The period you released the new content felt very comfortable. The players were not forced to complete the content so quickly (even if some players did so …). I’d like to see, and a majority as well, the future content coming with more breaks between them, and especially with noticably less Achievments you can earn.

This forum part is Suggestions. I suggest, that you either go finally for a real good sound expansion like most of the genre did for years, because it is the right thing to do. Guilds come back together, people get back to the game for more than 2 days a month and the overall mood of the community will rise as well. If you are still opposed to an expansion full of more Tyria, or you have to make Colin happy with telling him, “Living Story is a great idea, Colin!” than please convince him, to take more time for it. Build greater chunks of content. No more daily grind and two weekly skin lottery. Give your writers time to get meaningful stories written. The release shows they can, if you let them.

Stop the “hey we can do it every 14 days” content, which feels the same over and over again for the bigger part of the last year now. Please!

Word!

By the way: I would like to bring a suggestion for new content my self. While my work as subeditor I noticed, that players really enjoy the start of the personal story, so do I. Many of them wish to whitness the personal problematics of their culture (Humans fighting against Centaurs and Bandits; Asura confronting the Inquest …). Also play with the “old” NPC’s you met, like your warband (my good old pal Maverick, or my College-Friends). I guess, it would be a very nice content, and therefor the maps would’nt be so cramped, because each race plays his own content. Important: Breaks between the individual storylines, no 14-day-terms, no grinding achievments.
Suggestion for rewards: Armor-Skins of the races enemy (Flame-Legion, Inquest, Bandits …). It would be a good opportunity to bring more spefic armors for all raced in the game, for example the Flame-Legion-Straps (footwear) we are asking in this and this thread for.

1. I agree that it’s weird, but it would be too big of a design change to make the character walk upright. Rather, they need to make the NPC’s run on all fours—I’ve always considered the fact that they don’t to be a glitch.

I think something like that. Maybe it is hard/impossible to implement such modifications, but it costs nothing to ask. A statement would be nice, why there are differences between NPC’s and Players.

3. Agree to an extent. Flame Legion have claws like they do because they physically mutilate themselves for their religion—something no non-Flame charr would do. There also can’t be that much variation on the shape of the claws, since they are the charr’s bones, and crazy-shaped bones would just be a physical hindrance. However, we should be able to pick from a variety of claw colors—white, yellowish, grey, black, ect.

The color, appearance and legth. Certainly … I fear blatant color’s, such I would not like to see. A small selection might be nice.

5. I don’t like the idea of hiding boots… we can already hide helms, shoulders, and gloves. I think by the point we can hide 4/6 of our armor, it’s too much. That said, Anet needs to design a variety of boots that are actually MADE FOR CHARR FEET. Like the Flame Legion straps you mentioned. If Flame Legion has anything right, it’s their shoe style.

It’s not untypical for Charr wearing no boots. Quite the reverse: If you take a look around Ascalon and particulary the Black Citadel, you can see that about 50 % of the Charr-Population dont wear boots or wear the footgear with the open sole (and I guess why …). It isn’t very untypical for Asura and Sylvari as well. But especially Charr should not be a optical problem – the opposite should be the case.
But like I did before, I agree with the idea relating to the Flame-Legion-Feet-Adornment. With some skins like that, there would be no need hiding boots.

Maybe.

The male skins are looking weird. It would be great having the female skin or something else (especially in combination with point 5).

7. Maybe…depends on how they’d implement it

If you see 2 or more Charr standing together wagging there tails the same way … Nah … It’s look wrong. More unique animations please.

Definately! Love the idea. I actually wish my claws were longer/larger.

Longer? I wish, I could make them shorter …

I’m not sure what you mean by “root bases.”

The sole of the bare foot. Sorry for misunderstanding. English isn’t my mother tongue.

I casual have read the last discussion-pages of the Charr-Board. I noticed some open questions/request; I also have my own desires.

- It is strange to see my character in his storyline in the beginning. All of my fellows are walking upright, on the contary I’m the only one running on all fours. I wish a option to choose, without beeing forced to hold my weapons in my hands.

- In Guild Wars 1 there were Charr standing on a straight posture. Particular Charr-Warriors and -rangers did the distinctive hump, which we can see by all of our Characters in Guild Wars 2. It would be nice, to let the players decide.

- All of our Characters do have the same claws: the same color, the same length, the same direction. It’s sort of weird. On some professions it seems totally wrong, like the Engineer or the Mesmer, also members of the Durmand priory. A few members of the Flame-Legion do have special claws (Lava Shaman -> http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Veteran_Flame_Legion_Lava_Shaman) I wish adjustments in the Character-Creation-Menu for both, hands and feet. I think, it is more usefull then changing the eyebrows.

- Let the players choose the color of their Characters horns.

- Please give us the option, to hide the boots. The leather straps, which you can see wearing by (Flame Legion Superior -> http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Flame_Legion_Superior) would be nice too. See this – https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/races/charr/suggestion-let-charr-hide-boots-please – and this – https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/extend-ability-to-hide-clothes-to-all-pieces/first#post2258605 – discussion.

- I like to see Customation-Options for the root bases. Once again there are Foes of the Flame-Legion with especially unique skins.

- Please let players decide, how – or even if – the tail of their Charr wags. For roleplaying it is annoying, also just standing around doing nothing/talk to other players.

- The footprints still are in the wrong direction.

- Tailclipping … no more words.

There are plenty NPC’s of all cultures (even Human and Norn) wearing no boots. But I agree, that it looks odd. But Charr … I can’t adjust with their footwear.
I’m trying to compensate this affectedly with the Culture-Footweare. For light and heavy armor there are open boots (light culture 1; heavy culture 2 and 3). But I’m not really satisfied; and there are no such boots for middle armor. I love the old style (Guild Wars 1 – all – and Guild Wars 2 -Flame Legion, especially Igniter or Lava Shaman -) with just laces around the ankle.

I really think, that there must be a compromise that could satisfy all, like a option in the Grafic Options Menu , that allows to see other players full armor all the time, or something like that … Either way: Just hide Boots Option would be nice and not too much to ask for.

(In WvW it is a touchy subject for itself …)

(Bring this thread up!)
For RP this would be nice (RP while fighting). I also think, that if you can hide shoulders helmets and cloves, there would be no problem to let players the choice to hide boots also.

BTW: Asura should also have this option.
