Your using 13.2 ? anything lower have graphic bugs with 7xxx series.
Their culling “fix” kinda fixed it in wvw but i get more problems with disappering ppl in events and other locations now as well :P
Well older versions of drivers have flicerking and kittentering in most cases so thats not an option… just use things like fraps. It works for me.
Well the prelude patch messed alot of things. Lags, new crashes ,freezes and some of my guild mates have problems with texture loading ( half of em load …) i hope next patch wont “fix” more things :P
Well it might only be a case for ppl who were on auto…. My system is 100% stable oced and only ever freezes in guild wars2. Well so far after all thoes patches i only freez randomly when using chat or swaping it from /p to /g etc… Few of my friends have the same issue and we rly dont have any idea what might cause it.
Well dont bother with looking for a fix. They just come and go with patches and thats all. From last 3-4 patches me and few of my friends have freezes (random ones) when using chat or changing chat from /p to /g for example. Its random and you can just task and close the game. Support here have no idea what are they doing so i would not count for their help.
Well alot of ppl have problems with lags even with low latency…. And support just says all the usual non helpy stuff. And yeah battleping helps at least in my case it helped. And i didnt have lags before the Prelude patch (nor do i have higher latency now but it still lags without battleping). 5$ a month is not a big deal and its better then playing with lags till they fix it (which will probly take them alot of time if they ever fix it).
Seems its just unstable ram. Bios upg can help (like in my case) or messing with volts, timings. Gw2 is picky about ram. It gives alot of dumb errors. From last patch im having either freezes or bluescreens and rests from taking screenshots….. i just hope they wont FIX more things;p
It seems ppl are getting thoes randomly. Half of my guild (we are all Polish) have thoes lags around 20-23 pm. My normal upc internet have around 20 ping at thoes hours to google and i never had problems with it at gw2. Battlepings sloved the problem but it should be fixed asap.
Battleping helped with the lag in my case. But paying 5$ a month should not be a must to play they game….
Well the game fells meh for me at 30 fps. Not smooth at all. But that might be personal preference or that im using amd which is usualy not as smooth as nvidia. Btw you wont rly fry your cpu at thoes temps so dont worry.
Well nothing that can realy be done here on their side. The game just bash the cpu and thats a fact. You need to improve your cooling. Hyper 212 evo is a cheap and good aftermaker cooler. My i7-3770 clocked to 4.1 ( mind that its not a K chip so it will run hotter then k chips on same clocks) runs at 65 max in gw2 at 1 core. I use nh-d14 from noctua but there is no point in getting smtn as huge as this (i only got it cuz it was a good deal:P). Evo +mx-2 would probly drop your temps by 20 or so if your using stock cooler.
From the last patch im getting pretty bad lags aroound 8 pm gmt+1 (Poland). It was all fine before, I even reinstaled windows ( which gave me around 5 more fps) but its smtn with the game servers. My internet works good as it did before patch and i have no dealys in other games.
Btw one more thing. I found a strange bug in game. When you turn shadows off and skip the loading screen (the one with flag etc) by pressing fast enter i can get around 10 extra fps . If i turn shadows at leat on medium then and then off again i lose thoes fps. My few firends found the same thing. After switching zones around (instancfes etc) im lossing around 5 of thoes 10 fps but its still higher then not skiping the menu. Could anyone check if they have the same thing? I think it might skip some filtering or smtn by skiping menu. I checked this with diffrent drivers and unlocked, clocked cpu,ram and gpu and its always the same. The funny part is that it gives at least 5 fps more in all areas (including wvw) which is quite good in thoes huge zergs.
Same problem. Got blue screen 2 times when taking screen shots. Somtimes it just freezes and unfreez when you go to task and somtimes its perma freez or bluescreen.
Yeah upgrade just to play gw2 would be waste of cash. In terms of upgrade you should wait for nvdia 700, amd 8000 cards and then just build a new cpu if you rly need one now.
Im pretty sure its not win 8 problem as i use win 7 64 bit. There is still a possibility that ALOT of thoes cards are just broken from the begining.
Well you need a better procesor. You wont get stable 40 + in wvw with low costs. You need better proceesor best would be i5 and oc it to 4+ ghz. Your gpu is quite weak but what is most demanding in wvw and places with alot of ppl, models etc is the cpu. Better card would give a boost but only when you get decent cpu. Amd procesors are bad at single core perf and that is what gw2 uses. Even i3 would give better results then your amd.
Well i didnt notice any less fps diping with thoes drivers on my 7850 (might be cuz it was smooth to begin with) Fps drops to 40+ range somtimes when looking around but that was always the case. Flicerking is gone so thats a big + for amd took them only a …. YEAR to sort this out.
Well supersamling puts heavier load on card so it just might be that it wont work when you oc the card. Seems like unstable overclock if it works fine with normal clocks. Diffrent things have diff test paterns so being stable in furmark and aida may still be unstable in games.
Well yeah but im not realy playing much and there is no other good mmo around (plus its fun to play with guild i have here). I just tested radeonpro. It makes gw2 look a tad better without drop in performance but the lines are still there on all possible settings :P. Well ill just wait if someone find a fix for it but im sure ill never buy amd card again. Its my third amd card and they always have some kind of problem with them.
Well at least im not alone with that problem. I just hope this is not some kind of broken memmory or other thing in thoes 7xxx cards but i should know when i get my rmaed card back (that will be a third one….). I can live with thoes lines since ill be getting smtn stronger soon for my 3 monitor setup. I just hope its not the card that is causing random game freezes when using chat (one patch fixed it and now its back again after update yay :P!).
I had problem like this before. Game was freezing (Sounds loop and screen freezes) but i can close it from task. This happens randomly when using chat or switching from /p to /g etc… im pretty sure all freezes i got were alwasy due to using chat but might just be my luck or so. The problem is thoes went away few patches ago and after yesterday patch bam today when i was linking item on /p boom and freez again. Anyone had or have the same problem and found a solution?
Nah my mistake i mean the one from amd :P crossfire or so. Its just that im borrowing his 7850 gigabate card which he uses in his crossfire cuz my sapphire 7850 is currently under rma. And both of em have the same problem with thoes lines where the 670gtx i borrowed the other day is fine same as my hd 4000 integrated graphic. I wonder if there might be compability issue with my other compontents but then there should be more issues not just that grind on flat ground.
I just instaled 13.2 and it seems my long had flicerkign problem is gone but the lines are still there. I tried messing with profiles seting aa off/on and all other options and its always there. Ill try radeon pro tommorow. If this wont help ( mind this is my firends card im borrowing from his sli setup) i doubt its hardware cuz i had the same thing happening on mine card as well( which is currently under rma).
In other post 1 guy claimed that he dosent have thoes lines on his 7970 vapor x…. kitten now im starting to think that thoes might be just a large batch of buged 7xxx cards(crapy memmory or smtn) but on the other hand there should be simmilar problems with other games textures not only with low level flat ground in gw2.
Ps. Is 7970,7870 based on diffrent chip (tahit or what its called) then 7850/7950? It seems that most ppl with this prob own either 7850 or 7950 cards.
hoegarden mind sharing your settings in ccc? If you say you dont have thoes it seems it might be hardware fault on a huge batch of thoes 7xxx cards. I checked 3 already and all of them had thoes lines where my friends 670 gtx (checked it in my cpu) did not same as my integrated hd4000. My card is currently at rma (third one already yay) i hope to get new one cuz this one had noisy cappricors. I hope new card might fix the bug but still it seems like some drivers issues not card (no other games have problem like this).
Well 7xxx series flicker in alot of games. Some ppl have thoes other dont see em or are just lucky to get good combo with otehr elements and get less of em. Im waiitng for new 7xx series fron nvidia and selling my 7850 when it goes back from rma ( ratlling fan). Or ill just get evega ftw from amazon…
This looks like artifacts. What card do you own ? And yeah update drivers if ya didnt do it till now.
Nope Nvidia dont have thoes problems. They have few bugs with textures here and there( flashing ropes) but its nowhere as bad as amd. Im saying it from tests with 670 that i got from my friend for tests. If you have flicerking with Nvidia dont use beta drivers or simpy your card is dying or oced to much. If you have the option switch to 670 it offers less choppy fps if set right then amd. They are just higher in tests but in real life aplications nvidia still kicks amd kitten (amd drivers are the worst part of their cards).
Well it probly was just an old bios or smtn and the cpu just didnt know how to use the ram in secondary slots. I can pretty much put thoes in any slots in my asus z77 and it works the same :P Btw check if you throttle now cuz that should not happen even at around 90c on procesor
I would go for some kind of used 660 or auction one. Just stay away from amd 7xxx series they are buged like hell and dont work well with guild wars
try older drivers. I saw somewhere on forum that 306+ have that bug and 304, or so were fine
Well its more likely buged amd 7xxx series. It seems nobody else have thoes lines now. I know they were present on almost all cards when the game started but they kinda fixed it and now its just th e amd piece of crap cards ):
Click that question mark next to 1.1. It will get rendering running and it should switch to 3.0. Amd have some kind of power save feature so if you dont run stuff that needs better speed it will stay 1.1 (if you minimalize the game it should be 3.0 for a mom and then switch to 1.1 again). Btw how many fps are you getting and on what settings. I have simmilar specs so i can tell ya if its rly so low or not.
even 90c on gpu should not rly make it go bad. But yeah it might be the card going bad try some kind of benchamrk like haven and see if it will bug out there.
Well im still pretty sure you never was in heavy wvw with 100 + ppl in keep. Not even an oced 5ghz i7 can keep 60 fps there (40-50 would be max) but yeah other then that wvw dosent rly use your card much so you can use even high settings without the shadows, reflections on max and still get no fps drop.
I would like to see how you manage to get full hd 60+ fps in wvw with a cpu and card like this yeahhh sure.
Any card from 7870,660ti or heavy oced 560ti etc can max the game on full hd ( reflections on all and shadows on ultra are kidna buged and eat much fps for now). Most ppl get throtled by cpu in wvw or heavy events. Depending on the map i can get around 100+ fps in some cases with ultra (4.1 i7-3770 and oced 7850) and in other locations its 30 somtimes ( like in lions arch) it depends on the map and player load so yeah you can get 180 fps in some cases on ultra with some locations free of ppl like low level zones.
7xxx series amd so deal with it for now 13.1 fixes nothing as far as i know.

You can try few things from here its all about 7xxx flickering. I reduced it a bit (its faster) by overclocking my memmory. The faster it gets the faster and harder to notice the flicker gets. 7xxx series have either software bugs(took them year to admit the problem) or just 80% of thoes cards have bad memmory. If 13.2 with memmory rewrite wont fix the problem i suppose there will be alot of 7xxx cards on ebay.
Im always reinstaling my whole system when changing drivers (i have backups of all data so it takes 1 h at most). And yeah i tried messing with all the options, I even instaled thoes withtout the ccc at all and it was the same. It seems only 7xxx series get thoes eh…. I so wish i had gone with nvidia thoes 7xxx series are such a mess all thoes flicerking artifacts and stuff…. they said something about memmory rewrite in the 13.2 but hell if it took them a year just to notice the problem i dont want to know how much will it take them to fix it. My card went to rma anyway so i just hope new drivers fixes it or someone from ebay will have a good deal.
Nvidia have overall smother experience in gw2 but now they have some problems with crashes with newest drivers. You wont probly fix the problem with other 7950. I had 3 diff 7850 and all of them had the same problem (its probly bad architecture coding). I even switched to my onboard hd4000 and it dosent have thoes flickers or black lines problem like my hd 7850 so im pretty sure nvidia wont have it as well. They might fix it soon but as it took them around a year to admit that there is a problem on their side i would not count on that.
If he gets lines in colors thoes are not tearing for sure. Flicering is a common issue with 7xxx series its just some ppl wont even notice fast flashing objects like my firend for example.
Well if you can do it. There is a small possiblity that thoes 7xxx cards are just fauly (or big ammount of them ) and it wont ever be fixed. They didnt fix it for like a year now so ye change it if you can. Im pretty confident im going to rma then sell my 7850 as soon as 7xx series of nvidia goes live.
Anyone found a fix for this ? Im still getting thoes on my 7850 on newest drivers. I already checked gw2 with same settings with my integrated hd4000 and there is no lines on it. I will need to rma my card cuz of ratling fan anyway just want to know if i should point them into bad card direction as well.
http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=368290&page=17 Welcome to the 7xxx series flickering club:). Just be happy you only get small fast ones with 7950. Some of us that own 7850 (its much slower) have more of thoes flicerking artifacts and they are easier to notice cuz they are slower ( the faster your memmory the fsater they get). 7xxx series is flawed with some kind of either software failure or is just their new memmory architecture that is broken on hardware level. I rmd my card 2 times and got 2 diff ones + i tested it on 7970 from my friend they all had the same problem ( harder to notice on 7970). Im pretty sure all 7xxx series have that problem its just some ppl dont notice rly fast texture flashes from time to time.
Btw could you check if you have black lines on the floor in ascalonian catacombs ? Some of us have that problem as well and it would be nice to see if higher series with new drivers have it as well. It seems textures are broken in few places with low terain like ac, dredge fractal and few others.
Bump. I found 4 more ppl with ati cards (diff models). Thats pretty fun considering that skiping a stupid menu gives me around 10 fps more. Would be cool if this was looked into.
Dont even bother you wont probly wont find any solution. Thoes problems are caused 99% times by the game itself. I rarely see anyone that have heat, hardware issues. I had the same problem with completly diff machine and it stoped after a patch. And now after one more i have problem with random chat typing ( some friends have them as well). I was able not to get freezes for over 17 days and then bam 5 in a day while typing on party chat. That problem is almost impossible to isolate cuz you wont get any crash log while it freezes only a note in windows event viewer that gw2.exe had an apphang (without saying why it did).
K so i still have that “thing” with skiping menu and having higher fps. Recently i noticed it has to do something with shadows. If i have shadows on off and i skip the menu i get around 40fps (event now) in traiding post LA. The moment i switch shadows on even on low (funy thing is that ultra there gives higher fps then low LOL) my fps dips from 40 to around 30 and stays there even if i turn shadows off. I need to restart the client with menu skiping trick to get thoes 10 fps back again.
