Let me check if I’m frontline… ooh yes I am. good stuff was worried there for a bit.
There are balance updates . BALANCE. so no good whinging I got hit with xyz and listing out the attributes. It needs perspective. this thread is trolling.
replacement for king of fires+rename. (I hate it)
just a couple switch eternal champion to melee only burst skills.
risk+reward, stability in their zerg is one thing, stability in your own using gunflame is another. Gunflame is on the most wanted nerf list so needs addressing.
King of fires is rubbish I barely notice the flame aura and overall feels like a mid-high level rune bonus.
Not the grandmaster of an elite skill, needs a re re work. My preference for it would be 25% burning duration, auto trigger incoming condition converted to +10 % burning dmg + duration, 10 secs with a 40 sec cooldown.
Can just about qualify as ‘king’ of fires then although I hear cries of op..
Alternatively if this is to similar to other traits, how about a base 25% but if you revive/rally you get +25% health +25% burning duration. switch the name to funeral pyre.
The complaints here seem to revolve around overpowered and spammable.
various screens hots show gunflame is not the highest damage (although it is very high) so spammable? I don’t see how burst skills are comparable to ordinary skills, particularly COR.
Warriors are taking rifle, berserk and strength will all the adrenaline gains, berserk gains& recharges for this build, which is all basically all traits + zerk gear to get these figures.
By nerfing Gunflame you are saying warriors can’t attain the same level of damage as other professions? I use a tanky soldier build and get around 8K which does not seem unreasonable although I wouldn’t argue with a 10-15% reduction -as long as it was done by looking at all the skills that can hit over 15K.
The problem in Wvw I believe is how it is used. As a frontliner I’m at the front and the minute I push berserk/lightbulb I’m subject to ALOT of range+freeze and the favorite ‘pull’ to the middle of their zerg where I’m unceremoniously beaten to death with hate. Seems fair, eternal champion duration could lose 15% if people want more of this. But Wvw adjusts to new skills after the initial outrage… If people are sneaking about in the middle of the zerg I think the range should get shortened, but it seems somewhat invasive of gameplay and needs to be looked at with all ranged skills that can hit over 15K. As well as cloaked skills that hit for this damage either single or chains. Warrior is very limited on pvp so I don’t think the cooldown should adj this is WVW specific.
sometimes I do the late run, i.e. midnight+
not sure what luck has to do with it,
the difference is if you fight the otherside of the map and the other team can use their bl waypoint, to recycle there is little you can do to counter now as its difficult to keep people there. If you wipe another team you are fine , however the time taken to kill a keep lord means it’s alot more difficult to come out of combat and its heavily in favour of the corner. I think we are now going to tank pull the lord away /out to get round it, but then it needs to be empty or full of noobs.
just for excitement I’ve reflipped our keep with 3.
Regardless of anet sinking a lot of cost into the new bl’s people are voting with their feet.
They can choose not to listen to this forum, but it won’t change the customer/seller relationship. I hope a rebalance of severs helps shuffle the population, but I can’t see how that will reshuffle eb<>bl.
+If they do put alpine back will people come back? are they still playing the game in fractals or some such? Anet will know. If they have left left then they risk losing those who have adopted desert bl’s. We are seeing more people play bl’s now but its all ktrains. -I won’t go. So there are now 2 separate WvW groups on our server as some bl’s wont do EB…
I don’t disagree with the intention that larger groups can’t continually refresh and win on numbers, but this could have been done with a 1 min cooldown after death as zerg fights are fairly short + move around. I think anet have unintentionally given a ‘strong’ home advantage to people’s corners. This is more issues for the bl’s given the distance involved- people won’t run the length of the map.
Also if I’m in a small group now I will think twice before getting to their keep, you need a cleaner sweep to keep and hold it and you can’t be sure how many are in till you ‘knock on the door’
+ we didn’t have sm wp for a change. but now the upgrades are slower I can see this being fairly common.
don’t see this listed anywhere else.
what do people think?
today 12 of us went to their keep, took on 20+ nailed about half with say 2 losses, started churning through the massive slug of health on keep lord plus the scattered remnants of their team….
Almost impossible to stay out of combat as they hit the walls and the lord was in the middle. The ten respawned… we lost another one or two…
could only go one way.
took ages and was pretty depressing. fairly sure it’s not supposed to work like this ?
I don’t recall revival being an issue in wvw before, if people did it it was their gamble, plus some people like playing support.
I’m not really sure if this update has achieved anything? anyone for it ? surely to stop larger groups never dying they should have just put in a cooldown after death? now distance to wp is the biggest deciding factor, which is poor having dragged your carcass across the map, knocked through the walls to be defeated by the new rule seems a bit kitten.
note this is just about revival not the whole update/other threads for that + new bl’s.
firstly I’m PVE retired, WvW only pretty much some pvp guildhall but not alot.
overall I’m happy, passive heal is ‘lazy’ but after the condition uncap, heavy armor got nerfed by default this seems a good solution.
cant see it helping pvp, but I can use the save in the fishball.
they trimmed cooldowns which feels more pvp for chains which helps- as its timings on utility that are more wvw so feels balanced.
likewise the adrenaline extra is good and can be used by all . overall they helped the profession no matter your build can’t complain.
berserker, I loved old king of fires, I held onto my adrenaline, waited for them to stack and bang! wahoo rifle . happy days. I’ve tried the new version and it seems to encourage spamming and frontline. hmm we have plenty of that in the berserk trait already… likewise old rifle 4, was cripple and chase now its an extra dodge? I have 2 already. why? sad.
the might stuff sucks since it got nerfed to kitten no-one takes it , you barely see warriors in wvw, let alone old school gs warriors. my gs is staying in the cupboard the update didn’t change that. pity the people that made twilight.
lastly burn. I’m having alot of fun with it , but cant help notice the difference between burn and condi damage/duration isn’t enough. I can be cleared once yet only receive minimal comparable increase on items and consumables. this needs to change.
Also I struggle to recommend warrior over guardian or rev for wvw, I’m not sure what we have extra now everyone has all weapons between them. I’d like to see warrior dual weapon increased as weapon specialists or some such.
and lastly like everyone else I’m feeling the wrath of necromancers, who are now solo roaming as gods.
Describe a typical hour for you in the Alpine Borderlands in the past. For example, What size of group were you running in? What kind of tasks did you run? What activities did you do?
WVW guild so anywhere between 5-30 with atleast half my guild. BL’s was about protecting upgrades (worth alot more prev.) or capping other server’s, smaller groups would tend to hit camps- we jumped maps if out matched or out numbered or call between maps for support especially if it was our bl and upgraded -then zerg multiple tags/guilds called in.
Compare your experience described above with a typical hour spent in Eternal Battlegrounds, if you went there at all. Does your style of play change between the 2 maps?
EB less capping more slugfest. Better quality players, capping is easier than zerg.
Compare your experiences described above with an hour spent in the new borderlands.
We don’t everyone has gone EB. In an hour in new BL you’ll see 3 of us and none or 10 of them on experience capping runs.
Describe the nature of combat in the borderlands in the past. How have the new borderlands impacted this paradigm for you? What style or build changes might it cause? For example, knocking people off cliffs or into lava might play a more important role.
n/a
In your experience, compare the time it takes take a structure or objective here, then it did in the past.
longer now given the auto upgrades, harder to solo camps etc
How is the loot and wxp for you compared to in the past? Will it be able to sustain whatever you are doing? Did it take a hit, or was it improved? If you are planning to unlock an elite specialization, do you think you were helped or hurt in these regards? Do you think you could pursue any other in-game goals just by playing WvW?
none of the wvw tokens have any long time value/collectability, the armour skins are easy out of date the rest is consumables. Some tokens to be mixed with pvp ones to get legendaries but no way to get a precursor and these can be traded. Nothing wvw specific. Be nice to get even a title part from a million yaks.
elite unlocked a long time ago have spare points.
How will the map change impact the long sessions (multiple hours) you spend in WvW?
overall less as its smaller cos we only do eb.
In 100 words or less, describe how the new BLs could be improved.
ANET. WVW is not PVE. why have you made it PVE? WVW is a contact sport. You wouldn’t play rugby on a three tier glass maze. There’s alot to be said for using cover and high ground especially with siege (everyone likes an advantage) but this is way to far. I can see you but I can’t get to you…it’s like the end maze in the labyrinth movie. With over visability smaller zergs/individuals won’t engage and its very easy to run away/disappear over the sand dunes.
Overall its way to massive for our server.
Overall the ‘walkthorugh’ experience is to complicated, people that play WVW imagine themselves as part of some great battle not a dungeon jumping puzzle. The new NPCS are nice and one big complex tower in the middle that funneled people in would be good -the layers in SM aren’t used that well apart from the post capture mesmer hunt.
In 100 words or less, describe how the borderlands work to a new WvW player.
Come with us, stay in the middle, tag is life it’s easy to get lost
In 100 words or less, describe how the borderlands work to a veteran WvW player that is new to the maps.
come to EB
Which map am I most likely to find you currently, if you’re on Gw2?
EB. check your stats we are all on eb.
