Besides all the lameness to its blooming rewards, also the lore is completely missing;
An email pops into your email box stating something is going on. and that’s it. no map cinematics, no actual npc’s with interesting dialogs on the maps regarding the event, nothing, oh yeah a vendor with super expensive stuff we’ll never be able to buy with the event begin broken in the first place and only 3 days left… awesome.
This feels indeed like a quick and cheap diversion to keep us busy. Yes you could say some aspects of this event leave some room for improvement…
I really do hope HoT will be nothing like this.. That makes me think that maybe this is bad on purpose to make HoT stand out even more.. we’ll see
When i saw the potions I thought yes!! then I realized that those rewards are extreme grinders only. so much for the ‘no grind’ philosophy..
I am trying to deal with it by trying to come up with ideas how to fix it
Hi I just wanted to address something that probably everyone has encountered more than enough times: the disconnection issue, or dc in short.
Now normally getting a dc in for instance a dungeon, or during your personal story would be inconvenient but not really a big deal since you can pick up where you unintentionally left off. Okay you would have to replay the personal story instance, but even that is not a real problem in most cases. So nothing really upsetting there.
In the case of Open World Events (bosses/temples in particular) or a WvW battle or even a PvP instance it is an entirely different matter. When you dc you will be punished! Now that does not really seem fair, does it?
What then is the punishment you might ask? Well here are some examples:
- Even though you just disconnected 15 seconds ago, your instance slot is gone, and even though you were just playing in WvW with your guild, you have to wait in line again to enter EB. Hey, YOU left!
- Event though you just disconnected 15 seconds ago, you are unable to rejoin the map instance you just played that awesome open world event in, denying you any rewards or participation.
- Even though you did wait 20 minutes for the ‘Tequatl’ event with your guild and actively played through 60% of the entire event, after a dc you managed to reconnect to your previous instance using your ‘anti dc party’ (after clicking 9999 times on join … in …) but according to game logic you did not participate in the entire event, so no reward for you.
- You just played through 25 minutes of the new world event ‘Mordrem Invasion’ and you just disconnected like 10 seconds, bye stacks of ‘invasion Defender’; Game logic, you did not participate @all, Ouch!
Of course you could just try and do the events another time, most open world events cycle within a few hours and you can do them again right? And that is absolutely true, except for PvP and WvW of course. But that is a bit besides the point. In the end, if you get enough dc’s you will start thinking differently.
For me, these ‘punishments’ after a dc take away from the fun you have playing the game, and I often find myself not playing that content anymore that day.
Now for PvP I don’t really see a quick solution to make dc’s less problematic, since it is really fast paced gaming, and one minute is like an eternity in there
. For open world and WvW however it should be quite simple to tackle the dc problem in most cases. Or at least soften the pain.
Solution to make a dc not such a big deal for WvW and open world events:
- Always being able to rejoin your map instance within a certain period of time:
After the disconnect you have 60 seconds to rejoin in your spot in the map instance, after that it is lost to another player.
- Always be able to rejoin the WvW map within a certain period of time:
Instantly rejoin your borderlands map instead of waiting In cue again when you reconnect within 60 seconds.
- Always be able to pick up your loot or reward within a certain period of time:
After you disconnect you have 60 seconds to rejoin the map and collect rewards that you have played for in the event.
It is my experience that after most dc’s you can get back in the game within one minute. So that should be more than enough time to get back into the action.

I agree, I have to run around the plant thing like crazy to try and hit stuff before it drops before i could even hit it once, it is kind of making me feel WE are the invasion instead of the other way around

So that’s about 28~30 gold per chapter atm. I know that you still have to pay, but then it’s gold instead of real money.
Yes, I have seen one case where the loop was broken and the dungeon continued after a few minutes. On the other hand I also have seen cases where it did not.
I have tried the Mesmer blink ‘trick’ today, mentioned by ’ Teh Time Rider.6732’ and that worked nicely, so that might be a work-around for this problem.

I liked the way the story of Rox and Braham was done, Scarlett is indeed just chaos, no real story there, absolutely agree.
I just spend over 3 hours in this Aspect Arena trying to get the crystal breaker achievement. All the other achievements in this Arena are very doable and fun too.. But the crystal breaker achievement is almost undoable. After continuously trying to kill the crystal bearers for over 3 hours I quit for today out of frustration…
I managed to kill 8 in total but its just ridiculously hard, compared to getting the crystals ‘home’ witch is ridiculously easy.
Please fix it and make it more balanced. For instance take away the speed boosts on the runners or make them less effective when carrying a crystal. The way it is now you can choose any element and make it home with the crystal using the speed boost on whatever element you chose.

I’m doing this right now just to get the achievement and all I can say is that this Adnul Irongut is not fun to do at all. Even if I win I will walk away and never come back, this is only about luck and nothing more. I can not understand that anet seems to think this is what people like??? even if i get the achievement at all, it will not feel like victory, it only proves that I was persistent in trying, only to loose maybe 500 times versus 1 win… Arenanet Please make this more enjoyable instead of a pain in the …
Okay, I am done with this, I will not try it again before ArenaNet makes this more enjoyable to do, it’s just ridiculous… period.
Obvious pointers of why this Adnul Irongut is virtually unbeatable until he allows you to win due to sheer luck:
1. “I saw that” way too often (almost every 1st, 2nd or 3rd round)
2. “Lets make this” way too often
I tried different tactics to defeat him, the closest I ever got to winning was him at almost 5% health, and that was because I got very lucky. This proves to me that is is a sheer luck game and I can tell you Arena Net, this “Adnul Irongut” content is way beneath your quality standard, that is why I decided to leave it and hope it dies or gets a decent make over.

I will certainty try out Jade Quarry, I myself already did the complete story exuding the epilogue that will occur on the 12th.
I have this too, it caused me to die one time since I got spawned back up in the air some distance away from where I was originally falling down in the water, instead I fell down on the ground the second time and it killed me.. pretty lame if you ask me.
Just to be clear about this;
On my server, Ruins of Surmia, none of the locations are present as mentioned in Dulfy’s guide. this is not about not being able to find the right spots, they just aren’t there. This is the case on several servers so it seems.
The best solution now is to find and guest on a server that does have a working Lost and Found and Dead Drop Living story.
There is no official message that this has ended, but a lot of people (including me) have confirmed that the Dead Drop and Lost and Found locations are missing from Diessa Plateau and Wayfarer Foothills. There is one person who confirmed they are still working on the Sea of Sorrow server.
I play on Ruins of Surmia there the Dead Drop locations are all missing on the Diessa Plateau map and also on the Wayfarer Foothills they are all missing.
Also the known locations for the Lost and Found living story content are all missing on both maps.
I was trying to guide another player that had not yet done both Dead Drop and Lost and Found, and I can confirm that myself and the other player could not see anything regarding the Lost and Found or the Dead Drop audio log event.

In Diessa Plateau near the Trading Post is still a collector for the audio logs, he is not makred on the map as a collector, he is standing near a broken Sonic Periscope.

I tried your tip on the ascended ring: “Rings can be INFUSED, which makes them (1.) account bound again and (2.) changes their name so you can dual wield an infused and a not infused version.”
Instead of the ring becoming account bound again when I applied the infusion it states that doing so makes it soul bound instead of account bound.
I then tried to infuse the ring from my other char having the infusion in the inventory of the other char, and the ring in a bank slot, the message then again stated that infusing the ring would make it soul bound. It turned out to be still soul bound to the other char after applying the infusion, so i am still left with a useless item
Also the dual equipping of the infused and not infused version does not work, the name does not change after the infusion as it does with exotic items, the name of the ring still states “Ring of Red Death” before and after the infusion.

Thanks for the info, the item being unique makes sense.
I still wish they warned before equipping, like they do with dyes, how hard would that be? It would make people more aware that you can only equip 1 at the time.
Also the fact that there are tons of threads like this as you stated, that kind of proves the uncleanness about the usage of ascended items, anyway I know now that unique should be read as: “You can only have 1 of this item equipped at one time.”

Hello, I would like to suggest to better inform players in-game about the possible combinations of ascended equipment that you can equip.
Because of poor information I just completely wasted 40 laurels I had saved up for a period of time on a Ring of Red Death witch I cannot use because as afterwards becomes clear, I cannot equip 2 rings of the same type to one character. There is no information to be seen in game and I had no idea this was the case beforehand, hence, I completely wasted a good month or 2 of saving up laurels for something I can’t even use… thanks a lot arena net!
What I did:
I had bought an ascended ring “Ring of Red Death” about 3 months ago including an upgrade of +4 precision for my ranger.
Today I wanted to buy another ring and bought another “Ring of Red Death” for 35 laurels including another +4 precision upgrade for 5 laurels, then i double clicked the ring to equip it, there where no warnings when I bought or equipped the ring, other then stating that the ring will become soul-bound if I would go on and equip the ring, since there was no reason to doubt that I could not equip both the rings I went on and clicked to accept to equip the ring. Then I noticed it had just swapped the rings, then it became clear I could not place the other “Ring of Red Death” in my second ring slot, rendering the newly bought “Ring of Red Death” completely useless.
At this moment of writing I am obviously quite angry because I have just wasted a lot of game time, if I was better informed this would not have happened. I really hope you guys over at arena net read this and take it seriously because wasting a lot of time on something you cannot even use is no fun at all. I now have 16 laurels left and I am facing another 2 months of saving them up before i can afford another item…
