First off I’d like to say that I love this game. It has great potential. I came to this game looking for that PvP scene so many others have stated. I was looking for that next Dark age of Camelot feel which is why WvW appealed to me so much. I did that for about 7 months of this games life, but I just couldn’t stand the AoE limit, Zerg ball mess that you guys call open world pvp.
So I moved over to the Spvp/Tpvp side and really enjoyed it for the first 20 ranks or so. Then all the flaws started popping up. Gaining ranks or skins or even gold takes six times as long in PvP then PvE. Why is this? Cultural armor starts at rank 60? Are you kitten kidding me. I do not believe it should take a year to implement a simple revamp of this system. It is pathetic to even say it is being worked on. You have a new living story every 2 weeks. You guys can’t even merge the mist together so that your tiny PvP population can get to know who is left and play together. I feel kind of embarrassed that I recommended this (PVP) focued game to my friends, by the way quit after a month or so.
I think most of all the community would like Anet to communicate better with the super ultra secret patches you have coming for us and allow us the people who probably love your game more than you do, to actually test your patch and find the things you may have overlooked. While you guys kick back and watch the current meta, fix the kitten reward system. I think all people want is access to skins that PvErs can get after 1 month of play. For a PvPer it will take 2-3 years? What are you kitten smokin over there? Take a team or two off living world for a month and strickly work on pvp content and tell the community you are doing it and what you are looking to change. You guys are way to quiet about your game.
Anyway I will keep playing for now, at least until another so called PvP focused game comes out to disappoint all of us again. It still amazes me that 10year old games have better matchmaking or leader-boards when they were running. I can’t even kitten search on your site, I have to use a player made website. You should probably hire that guys since he can make a better product and still play your game. I have great hope that you guys can save this sinking ship, but it will take a major overhaul and huge effort, which from the way things look seem to on the last of your priority list.

Break down:
1.) Communication with community need improvement
2.) Revamp reward system
3.) Balance, I’m okay with slow, just communicate. Let us test.
4.) Stop being so secret, you are not the government.
5.) Merge the Heart of the Mist, you need to get the player base together in order to save this game mode.
6.) Leaderboard and/or in game Scoreboard revamp. Search function, Kills/Deaths/Caps/Healing/Stomps/Wins/Losses. Why after 1 year none of this for pvp game?

what if ele staff damage skills were instant when you placed them ground target?
Would this help bring them in line with the current condi insta aoe cast?

I love my D/F ele. I have been toying with 2 builds. 0/10/10/30/20 and
0/10/20/20/20 (rock solid in earth) with malendru runes, sigil of doom and precision.
I have had some success in tpvp with this setup.

I currently have played 187 soloq games and have had my rank drop down to low 800’s and just recently have moved back into the 200’s, think its at 290 now. Had a little bit of a bad streak the other day. My lowest was 170 and in one game loss it dropped me to 270. In order to move up ranks I had to convert to playing meta classes, aka necro or stun warrior.
Now I have to say at the 800+ ranks the teams were very bad off with people leaving or afk and you just need to switch to classes you think you can carry your team with, with the setup you got dealt. It can be done though, I know some people that have claimed up from very low % to top 1000 now.
Also, there is a decay on the LB. If these people do not play anymore games they will start to drop off.

A world, where Anet spent as much effort on pvp related things as they do on living world content.

Oh what a magical world that would be.

O I long for the day that fire and water focus skills become god mode

Flamewall takes to long to cast and only offers 1s burning if it hits.

I like those ideas of burning trail and searing ash. A blind would do wonders for focus bunkering.

Hi all, I am one of those odd people who have switched to dagger/focus and made another video. I am not the greatest player but I do alright. It is some fights in Tpvp and WvWvW. Same build and close to same gear setup.

I also play D/F and love it. I have had great success with it in tpvp. Like many, I think the fire skills are a bit lacking. The flamewall should be changed to something more useful. The fire aura definitly needs to have a reason for people not to hit you. Most of the time I use it for speed and spend my time trying not to get hit, so the might stacks are rarely seen from it.
As for water, I dont mind them at all. Usually use #4 then #5 and comit will hit most of the time. I would like to see a ice field if say #4 hits. The only problem with comit is when detarget or the enemy stealths it will still fire in a random spot.
Air abilties are good. #5 needs to be looked at with it still firing without a target or may be make it hit whatever is in front of you instead of missing everything. Wish #4 blocked more things like channeled lightning or gave a lightning field perhaps.
Love earth abilities may be cooldown reduction.
Anyway d/f still has some great damage and just needs some minor tweaks.

I am 28 yrs old and I have mic.
I am fairly new to the tpvp scene but have managed to hit rank 30 this week.
I have been playing since open beta weekends and my pvp experience is mostly from WvWvW.
I have 600+ hrs on D/D and maybe 200+hrs on D/F. I also have 5 other level 80’s but ele is my favorite. Total I have 1300+ hrs game time.

I don’t mind being a fill-in/back-up my play times vary.

Monday-Thursday 9pm-1am est sometimes I’ll be on earlier during the day.
Friday- N/A til 11pm if able to
Saturday- Sunday- noon to 3pm, then 11pm-1am

I use PVT gear with 1 Berserk and superior runes of earth
and mix between Beryl and Emerald jewelry and soldiers back.
weapons have superior sigil of perception and superior sigil of energy.

You are right about the mobility and its hard to get use to. But I have made it out of some sticky situation anyway with focus. I have 20k hp and 2.5k armor. Base 19% crit chance and with stacks + fury goes to 50%. WvWvW is great fun so far missing RTL sucks but its just like playing anyother alt class. When I want to hit with Comet I try to use the water #4 Freezing gust and it will usually land. I use mist form/ pain inverter / armor of earth for my utilities and elite is Glyph of Elementals. I really am liking pain inverter over anything else so far, it gives me that little extra damage from retaliation and I have had many mesmers and thieves almost kill themselves from it. Anyway best of luck out there.

Actually no. I had plenty of fun dueling him and some of his guild mates. I actually don’t mind losing cause I can learn from it. But I’m sure in all your greatness you’ve never lost at anything in life, so I humbly bow before you.

Been there done that. D/D is very boring these days, which is why I made a switch to D/F. At least for now, most fights I have are fun and a new challenge.

Thanks you two. I was trying to figure out which elite was going to pair with it best . It is really hit or miss with the great-sword, was noticing it missed a lot when people were running. I switched back to the summon an elemental and try to get either the ice or earth one out. As of lately I have been able to pull out more dps by using the retaliation and confusion utility better and working on stacking might with the fire #4 + earth #4. A lot of the time though I find it better to start out in earth with fights vs ranged and let them damage themselves with earth #4. Its a lot different and a lot of fun I found vs each class. Anyway I’ll keep at it and make more videos as I get better.

It was put in to show progression in the other fights. That was the first guardian I had fought with Dagger/Focus and had only been using it a few hours. Compared to 600+ hours of D/D. Like I said this was footage of my first week as D/F, so I wasn’t trying to show how much I can own with it. Only to show that there is some potential in other weapons. I’m sorry that you are the best elementalist out there and couldn’t watch past first 2 mins innocent ouarior, next time I will make a video better to your liking. It was just to show another side of the Elementalist that is rarely seen.

I have switched over to Dagger/Focus and am really loving it so far. Some say scepter/dagger is better combo but I just hate scepter skills. I run 0/10/10/30/20
and it is very tanky and has lots of control. I am working on getting some video of fights. For utilities I use mistform/armor of earth/ and either the one that grants retalition or arcane wave. Still trying to figure out the best setup for them. Anyway best of luck out there!

Very true, I use the weapon swap sigil 50% endo regain and the aoe fire proc one. I know they can lock each other out. I left the aoe one on there after switching from a burst spec and haven’t really had a problem with them. I will eventually get one that stacks. As I was mostly just playing around with this build and actually ended up keeping it.

I am using the Karma set P/V/T with superior rune of earth. 1 piece of crafted with P/V/C.
2 rings of valkyrie, earrings valkyrie/kinght, amulet of knight. 2 molten daggers P/V/C. they have sigil with enderance regain and aoe fire proc.
I will usually have the Vit/tough food with me.

Running ele burst requires you to play more as an opportunist. Hang around and wait for a good shot to get in and get out. When I ran burst I could drop people in seconds with the amount of damage a d/d ele could dish out. 20k+ in less then 10 seconds. I was 30/20/0/10/10. This biggest problem though was people were doing more damage to me while I tried to finish them then the actual fight.

I have now switched to 0/10/10/30/20 for a nice d/d bunker build with lots of condition removal. I find the damage to be decent. But I can tank 2-3 people for a good while. The Ele I believe is in a fine state with any build you go. If you are not attunement swapping on the regular you are doing it wrong. Use your auras for swiftness and fury. Use the cripples and chills to keep enemies far enough away to not get hit. The Ele is a master at controlling a fight with all the cc it has.
