So it’s time for me to roll an alt, I have two level 80’s now. I decided guardian and Necro only cause I don’t see them every where. So please long time guardians teach me! What do I need to know, all information given will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

While I think this is a good idea and I hope it works I will be surprised if transfers turn out. I think too many think they already know how to WvW, even though most came from failing servers. Most people will probably be long time residents of Maguuma there for refreshers and support of our server. But I see few transfers attending cause they are all ready awesome, just look at the map. I still support people leaving and rebuilding their own servers instead of staying and acting like they are why Mag is good. The community was built on guilds that have been here awhile, new transfers want respect I suggest attending and learning but you won’t your too good I’m sure.

Received one in WvW and three in Cursed Shore this week. It really varies though some weeks I see none.

I like how dailies will change and give people a reason to explore. As of now I usually do my dailies in the 70-80 zones only. Hopefully with new events plus different dailies it will add variety to game play. Seems they are starting to listen to fan base more these days. I already enjoy the game a lot, that may have a lot to do with my guild. But I think this will give more depth and add replay ability to lower level maps. I’m ready to see the changes for sure I would like a revamp of South Sun Cove also please.

As the only member from my guild that post on the forms I would just like to say that last nights assault on Yaks BL was a coordinated effort of many of mags finest guilds. Yes we got transfers the guilds where listed above, but that does not take away from what Mag is or strives to be.

Good fights last night at Garrison and East camp from Yak’s.I was running with my guild and it seems to me Yak’s had the Zerg train running last night not us. I dont know how many times we got wiped at East camp after destroying your guys siege on the hill by 30+ Yaks. Then to be called back to garrison cause you broke the wall down again and we had to fight off your Zerg their also. We planned to be in your borderlands to wipe you and we plan to be there again. But Yak’s was running a huge Zerg in EB and their borderlands as far as I could tell. So numbers game isnt tilted in our favor is the point. Maybe this week we will be pretty evenly matched and have glorious deaths all around.

The end to free transfers is a good thing in my opinion. It makes servers stand together and work together as a team if they want to succeed. I see the top 15-10 servers getting huge transfer numbers before the 28th.Some servers want them some do not, they like the player base as is. It will be an adjustment for everyone in the game. But if your friends and you can no longer play together i dont see the sense in fighting over it.After all it is just a game adjust talk to each other on Vent or whatever.

Just wanted to let you guys know that we’re reading this thread.

Your logic, reasons, anecdotes and ideas are being listened to. Also keep in mind, that as I said yesterday, a skill can be a balance problem in one area of the game, but underpowered in another. That’s the nature of using one set of #‘s to balance across all areas of the game. So we’re keeping that in mind as we look at this. We may need to do different tweaks in different areas of the game.

We’re also not going to make a knee jerk reaction to this. We’re still gathering data, watching player trends, and having meetings on all possible ramifications from possible changes.

thank you for the answer, it calmed me down. If you think there’s a problem with AoE in WvW, nerf it in WvW, but not PVE, because nerfing AoE in PVE when some classes already have problems would effectively kill off engineers and staff builds of mesmer, elementalist and necromancer.

No prob. Some classes have a ton of AOE, while others don’t have as much. So we’re not just going to do a blanket nerf to all AOE – that’s not fair to all classes. We’ll go on a class by class, weapon by weapon basis.

And as I’ve said, we may need to tone something down in one area of the game, but it may be totally fine in another area.

For some weapon sets, the AOE options may be too strong compared to the single target options, which is what we aim to address.

If anyone thinks AOE is too strong in WVW i challenge you especially Devs to come run with me for a night.Im on Maguuma we can party and see how it goes. I am a staff Elementalist and stand on walls in the line of fire alot. You can typically stand there taking AOE damage from attackers for 15-30 secounds. Then its easy you step back 5 feet and heal. Compare that to the warriors damage or the thieves burst damage where you cannot simply step out of. AOE damage on walls is horrid right now compared to siege, it takes forever to AOE a keep door down.We are already limited to 5 people that can receive the damage.If you make it more single target damage doesnt that kind of eliminate AOE’S all together?

Pretty sure ours will be IoJ and Yak’s Bend. T5 will be Ehmry, Kaineng, and DR or BP. The predicted rating is very close right now and could possibly change, but it will probably be DR.

I gonna say it again there are so many different was to counter this it’s not funny. If two are the best Spvp players in the game Spvp must be a sad sad place to play.

As a full time ele I would like to say grow some stones! I use choke points all the time, unless we have a large amount of numbers behind us approach like normal combat. Despite what the dev’s think aoe damage is not that powerful. I stand on walls all the time as other ele’s and ranger barrage me. You have a whole tool box full of counters for aoe’s other then stepping to the side 5 feet. Thieves can stealth then melee down one at a time. Mesmer a send in clones or use the great bubble. Guardians just stomp in and smash rangers pets, bows. I agree this is a bad Zerg 4 ele’s are dangerous but when just tossing aoe’s we are paper thin. Run in and stomp! Now you see 4 ele’s roaming with daggers then run, cause even a good Zerg is gonna lose numbers. But people have this misconception of thieves and D/D ele’s being unstoppable. We are not just learn how to counter and play. Also dev’s really an aoe nerf? Fix the broken classes first like ranger and Necro.

Yeah not sure people are taking this seriously ! This may have back fired in the worst way possible. If I have to wait in a que tonight we are gonna do a noob BBQ in North Camp BL. We can tell the noobs real easy too we have a style others don’t have. See you all tonight ready to have more wars instead of free badge give aways.

Well DR and Yorgy you came through! Thanks for the fights! I came in halfway through you guys taking Garrison back. Walked through a door you where there, walked out the door you where there. Died, escaped revived by a NPC. Then got killed in the Lords room died again.
Then it was pretty much a fight across the map from SE keep up to North camp. We finally got some numbers together and started hitting hardcore. But I would say it was fairly even all night. I think we all spent some coin on repairs tonight for sure.

What was up with you guys guarding the north camp so hard though? Man there was probably 20-30 people there when we hit it and failed. Then we would have had it the second time if your spawn was not there it would have been Green.

Me too! Hey man, I don’t want to be too graphic, but we gang kitten that panther when we are bored just for the exercise.

It was a fantastic time. multiple pushes back and forth across the bridge. little side scraps kicking up to the S, SE and SW directly on top of us. The thing I enjoyed the most was seeing all these other mates just start popping up from the water to help, or seeing your numbers trickle out of the overlook steadily.

I give credit to Morningstar as well. If the man did nothing right except one thing, his communication internally is outstanding. Sure lj was throwing out info to him while he was up north working on bay, but there were plenty of times I saw his icon head south before a call even went out. he reminds me of Lord Varys. He’s got little birds watching everything and they feed him information. I notice it in EB when I am there. There is always an AOD member silently running around with most groups. Sure sometimes it feels like spies, and I’m sure sometimes they are. But watching his zerg roll up behind your growing zerg a few times was just really rewarding to witness.

It’s been a positive week for growth on DR, that much is obvious. We aren’t done learning and perfecting, that too is obvious but members of my community win or lose have plenty to be happy with from these two weeks passed.

Ill make sure to be in your BL tonight, bring the panther!

Last night was the most Fun I have had in a long time.

I was lucky enough to be part of the south western (Green) Tower and Camp for most of the late evening. We had a few RED with us, I Saw Ewok with us and a few stragglers from other guilds as well. Lot’s of fun guys. Some small back and forth over the bridge and Yes! Yes! above poster, I think it did get to about 50 Vs. 50.

I saw some kitten and some OG there, some QQ sowed up at one point as well.. quite a few people got in the mix and it was a fun time. Exactly what we set out for. The Laughter and friendly kitten talk we had going on in TS between my group of peeps was something I haven’t enjoyed in a week or two.

So tonight in DR borderlands it seems everyone from DR showed up. Guess you guys wanted your map back? Overall fun though, the fight that started the War outside of SW keep, was 8 of us against 20 of you.
That’s when we started calling in guild mates ( thanks all my guildies from RMNT ) it soon went from 20- 20 then outside West keep escalated to a full on War.
I’m pretty sure by time I left it was easily 50-50 fighting it out on the map.

Currently most professions can swap between 2 weapon sets. The elementalist and Guardian I believe can not. Maybe it’s the engineer regardless. Most professions can use multiple weapons. Ranger bow, great sword, dagger, warhorn and on and on. So why not put 2 more utility slots so we can equip our weapon sets but only use the 1 or 2 sets in combat? That way on my ele I can use my staff then once I’m out of combat switch back to my scepter/dagger or whatever. This will eliminate having to dig through your bag trying to find things. Plus in case of other professions you can have all your sets ready to go. Just only have the two available during combat. Just a thought maybe its to difficult I don’t know.

A little off topic but with all the drama about transfers this week and the 2013 announcement. Paid transfer seeming like they are coming sooner rather then later. And the recent server population expansion. Do you guys think the top 10-15 servers are about to get more transfers? Do you think it was done on purpose to maybe weed out some of the lower population servers? Just thinking

You could give me all traits full on my ranger I’m sure I would still get obliterated.

They could put a free for all arena in EB. Anyone from the three servers can jump in and fight. All people even from your server are hostile, would settle some server disputes. C guild mad at X guild on the same server go fight it out.

Leader boards should be for individual and guilds. Other wise team work over all will suffer in WvW. Bonuses shouldn’t make people invincible either and don’t see them allowing that. Just hope it helps and doesn’t hinder WvW cause stopping the transfers is a start.

Three major things were mentioned about WvW:

1. There will be unique abilities.
2. There will be prestige ranks.
3. There will be leaderboards.

Put all three together and I think a good guess is rank-based titles and abilities, somehow based on personal performance in WvW.

Become a top ranked WvW player and get an ability to rally your troops and have a high military ranked title.

I would like to see this translate into guilds somehow also. Give them a reason to stick around and upgrade and defend keeps. Right now guilds are just a group of people with the same tag running around . Possibly make the keep you hd be your guild hall, so you will wanna keep it.

So Prestige and titles coming to WvW! What titles would you like to see? Also speculation on Prestige, is that guild or individual? Would be nice to see something for guild give them more meaning. Like a guild that holds a tower or SM for so long gets its own room or upgrades or something.
For titles I would like to see Yak Slapper be one it makes me chuckle. Also a Burning Down the House title for aoe damage on Keeps towers and such. What would you guys like to see?

Server transfers now paid and limited that will be good for WvW will stop the server hopping. Also lighten the mood in the WvW forums when guilds leave a losing server.
I’m curious how this will all go down, new titles and prestige sounds interesting for sure.

Ooh titles! I would like to see Yak Slapper be one, also like master blaster title. For people who do a lot of aoe damage. Make sure your in the server you wanna be now! That will take away a lot of crying from the forums so that’s good.ive never paid a dime in game don’t plan on it either.

Just a question for everyone? I run iTunes while I play all the time. But I’m gonna set up vent this week for server reset since my guild uses it. Can I still run iTunes and hear people talk over it ? Or am I stuck listening to people talk strategy and ramble all night?

I think Ventrilo is great for mixing with itunes tbh.

Newer TS and Ventrilo Clients allow you to tweak each users volume in addition to multiple in and out level adjustments. I keep in game sound on (included music very low) iTunes, and Teamspeak and I can hear everything after a little tweaking. Commander volume goes up, people who talk nonsense usually get turned down a little. Music drowns them out, when it’s time to gab I will adjust iTunes a bit softer.

IF you run into an issue where you can not talk while in game, you will need to run Vent “as an Admin”.

What happened to WäR saying that they would like to keep things in good terms with BP and try to focus on DR this week? I see a fair number of WäR in BPBL, and I am torn between wanting to fight them and leaving them alone.

I can’t believe some folks still trying to double team Devona. Play to win. BP is the only server trying to contact and make deals with me personally and only server I had to block so many people. You guys play too much politics instead of fighting.

Devona is mad at BP because last week they double teamed Devona even when we weren’t in first place and killed this match up which could have been great. This double teaming issue caused some bandwagoners to leave Devona but our core players are still here and mad at BP for their politics.

Honestly they should close the thread just like Maguuma probably wishes no one from BP transferred to their server now. It is a game smack talk is cool and helps blow off steam. But getting kitten over losing people or people talking trash is childish. It goes both ways. Hate each other that’s cool look for tags while in WvW then smash their face. But leave the crap in game! I’m guilty also for saying BP is frat boy mentality I apologize.

Just in case you guys haven’t caught on for some unknown reason, BP this week really doesn’t care. We’ve cashed in and are in the middle of a re-org. We figure we’ll let Mags and DR have their days in the sun, seeing as how it does shine on every dog’s butt at least once. Yeah, we’re dropping. Yeah, we’re reeling. Yeah, we’re gonna come back and dance jigs on your corpses. One week does not a brag session make. Mags, your turn in coming, in the future. Commander Dai from Dkz I believe ? Yes BP is having a tough time right now not argument there. But it’s BP’s fault that people left, the frat boy attitudes and overall cry baby atmosphere ran people off. I never really joined any guilds there because the attitudes. Maguuma is a different world as far as community, change the community and BP will change. Good luck

Ill work on it tonight maybe I have all my trait skills messed up. Or maybe I’m just used to rolling people with my ele that getting back into ranger mode is gonna take an adjustment. Just frustrating when you get downed by people in 30 seconds when normally your doing the downing.

If you want to hold up against two players in a fight, you need to go for a bunker type build. The Ranger has plenty of regeneration, evasion, vigor, and chill to make it possible.

As for escaping a zerg, you already have plenty of swiftness (warhorn, bird, Rampage as One, or the Tail Wind trait) and movement skills (sword’s Hornet Sting or greatsword’s Swoop) to make you fast. The ‘Shared Anguish’ and ‘Hide in Plain Sight’ trait combo, is great when running away, as it removes the first disable (stun, daze, knockback, knockdown, sink, float, fear, launch) on you, and makes you invisible for 3 seconds. After that you still got Healing Spring or Signet of Renewal that removes a condition. Next to all that, Frost/Spike Trap or Entangle can slow your opponents down even further, but if you’re using Hornet Sting or Swoop, you will have all the speed you need to get away.

Thanks for the response I believe I tried that build but ill try again. It just seems my ranger is the least evasive of all my characters. The other. Professions seem to have a panic button. Rangers seem to be more of a piñata then anything. Maybe I’m just playing it wrong or its not the class for me.

Ok so I’ve been here since early access. My first character I made was a ranger based on GW1 play time. Love the way it seems to switch from melee to tank so easy and the pets are a huge distraction. However while I’m a freaking monster in pve and dominate areas solo with ease. With my trusty pet of course. In WvW I might as well be a 6 year old girl in a pink dress.
I have tried every build combination I can think of to date. I don’t back down from fights and if its 1v1 win 50% of the time. But if its more then 1 forget it I might as well lay down for them.
I’m not wanting to be a WvW god or anything, I just want to be able to escape a Zerg. Or at least be able to put up a decent fight against two defenders. They stack conditions or immobilize I’m history no chance.
I currently use power/toughness/condition armor. My runes are runes of the undead for the toughness and condition. All my accessories are power/toughness/ vitality I use all elite gear.

My HP is around 18,000 my toughness (armor)is 2800+, power 2400 and condition around 1400 or so.
I keep a short bow greats word on me and have long bow for keeps. I also carry an axe and a war horn.

I just want to be able to fight my way out of a paper bag! My other characters level 80 ele I can take in 2-3 no issues. Heck my level 48 Mesmer survives longer then my ranger and I have all crap on him.
Any help I would be grateful to receive I understand ranger is not meant to be a warrior. But I would lie to survive or at least be able to escape if necessary. Thanks
