I run power mes and a condi mes build depends on my mood. Power mes is still good with chrono and shield. Either way people will message you with hate and call you noob. I just laugh and ask if they need a tissue.

Like the shield so far play style is good with an extra block. The new F5 skill is weak in my opinion the distance is too short. I don’t see it being usable…everyone knows where your gonna end up and burn you down.
Wells are okay could be used in a zerg situation but the reward /payoff doesn’t seem worth it. Elite skill not worth it in my opinion you can get stability from other classes.

I like the shield though just wish the cool down on 5 was less for what it does.

1.Ranger pet control is horrible ranger skills traits need work. Rangers do not really have a place either.

2. Elementalist needs nerfs reversed they are not as viable as other characters.

3. Necro needs buffs to skills

See your just being rude for me stating an opinion. I was telling people to look before they leap it’s wise advice for anything. I could be rude back but whats the point the last few post show what type of people you’ll find on Maguuma now.

There are some decent people on Maguuma. But to be honest there are better communities else where. I would stay opened minded and check others out also. I left Maguuma after my first 10 months there, its changed.Not saying its a bad place but you can find better elsewhere.

That was pretty awesome! I’m a full time guard setting down my staff and leveling a necro at level 28 now. Do you have any advice on gear and stuff? I know conditions seem to longer be the meta and power is. So any advice that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Here is my question though.

Guardian is the slowest class in the game as of now. I actually get beat by most Dolyaks to keeps unless i use retreat or am in a group. Why the decrease in symbol of swiftness?

I would like to see a trait for swiftness like most other classes have. Overall I think the guardian is a pretty solid class except for the lack of speed.

Now we almost have to carry" Retreat" to move across the map.

Really curious to see how the Ele changes play out also. I agree that Cleansing wave shouldn’t be a master trait though. Now you have to dump 30 points into water for condition removal.

I hope some of the new ele changes help the class be able to stand on it’s own. Right now they feel like a total support class.

Regardless I just want a speed boost on my guardian please, without having to run a shout.

Has to be boring for JQ you would think. How can it be any fun to just zerg every where and every thing? We just took NWT and its gone map is all green again.Tried to take NE sentry 30 JQ show up to stop two people Lame. Back to pve have fun running around with yourselves. Hope the leagues are done after this getting mowed over by Tier 1 blobs is boring.

Some of us left also when Maguuma became Borliss Pass reloaded. The community lost some of what it used to be. A lot did stay though and are repping different tags as stated.

EPIC! Battle in SBI hills last night, that’s the most fun I’ve had in awhile. Thanks Beast we did good and held our own for awhile. Sucks I had to leave after round three though. I have to say, I am impressed with SBI’s numbers. Yes, they got several guilds but that is what happens. This game has been out for a year, and I can’t believe people still complain about it. W/e.

Anywho, for TC and Tier 1 to get an idea of what you will be facing, SBI NA, or at least what we faced last night, are 2 or 3 guild groups, playing off each other and flanking for each other. It is not a mindless zerg like you see in T1 and T2 EBG, but it certainly covers my screen red. Nonetheless, the guilds play of each other very well and individually, none of them are push overs.

So have fun guys. And stay classy forum warriors.

Maguuma I wouldn’t complain about SBI being a transfer server too much. Considering Mags became BP 2.0, alot of BP’s big guilds transferred there over the last 8 months. Also VR hello again! Will see you on the Battlefield Duke.

Calling a guild dumb because two members jumped into a sea of attackers to try to help in anyway is immature. Regardless of what side your on in this weeks match try to keep it classy. Being respectful to people makes them respect you more.

TE,Cats,Beast,Calm,Gold,Ddlg tons of others I’m missing. Walk in LA announce what your looking for. I told everyone I was new and talked to 2 guild leader for 20 minutes or more a piece. Told them I was a transfer hooked up with people in WvW. We had the same play style they invited me to join them. As long as your not an kitten or a crybaby most people are really nice. This is actually the most polite server I’ve ever been to.

Unless there was a mass exodus after 8:30 last night I say the population is good. Maybe people are still at work, school or whatever. I know the guild I’m in doesn’t really get going till around 6. That’s after we’ve all gotten home and eaten dinner. I guess I should change my signature now also, meh whatever.

What? I just transferred to SBI from a higher tier server. Your server is not dead I’m not even sure how you came to this conclusion to be honest. WvW is good and will be better after this week if we get paired up with a few higher tier servers. Than people will play more since the competitions numbers will be closer. I’m rather baffled to be honest by how you came to this conclusion. Good luck

After a two week long process of visiting servers and seeing how the community is I decided on SBI. I left a higher tier server to come for less Zerg more skill and to make new friends.
I can honestly say no other server made me feel more welcome than SBI. When I announced my arrival everyone gave me a warm friendly welcome.

So these guys are telling the truth it’s a good place to be:)

I would really like to see a trait for guardians with the 25% speed boost like warrior.

For elementalist I would like to see major changes I feel they have been reduced to purely a support class. Solo roaming in WvW is a nightmare and pve it takes forever to kill something. Just my opinion they are the weakest class all around.

I think the rest of the classes need minor tweaks an overall are decent.

Fix the Black Lion Trading company PLEASE!

I’ve gotta admit, I still think Ranger lacks the melee burst of a warrior. But after playing around a lot, I noticed the Ranger has his own tricks that make him useful:

- So many ways to maintain chill on bosses (increasing the time between their attacks).
- A pull on OH axe (underrated)
- Very nice damage with 1h sword
- Best ranged damage in the game (I believe)
- VERY long duration of stability (using RaO +SotW)

Welcome to the club! Now avoid the forums at all cost, you’ll hear mainly complaints and it gets old. I’ve never had to many issues with ranger and I love playing it to be honest.

I normally do not do the living story events, I don’t like running around searching for things. But with this update I actually have participated and am really enjoying it so far. Not everyone likes all the updates I didn’t like the last one so I just voted. Wait till the next one maybe the next will make you happy.

I attempted to do the gauntlet, first with my ranger, who has over 21k hp then with my necro who has almost 27k but it didn’t matter, they both got 1-shotted almost as soon as they entered the arena. This is ridiculous!

To me, a challenge means having a reasonable chance in a fight, which can offer some fun, but being downed in 1 hit from that many HP is simply ludicrous. Through perseverance I managed to defeat 3 of them, but when same thing happened in the 4th round i simply gave up and won’t be back there again. Being 1-shotted all the time and dying over and over again, is not my idea of fun!

On my ranger I have beat the first three challenges with no problems. You have to kite and dodge. Also each boss requires a different strategy, some melee some ranged. Try again and try constantly moving never stand still. Good luck

Ok so here’s my question? I’m totally willing to accept that I need more practice or I just haven’t spent enough time with the guardian. I have been at 80 for awhile but have been avoiding due to the fact I don’t feel effective in WvW. In pve it was great aggro everything than burn it down. I mainly play a D/D ele and a ranger in WvW. But really wanna play my guardian full time. But I feel like I get annihilated on my guadian compared to my other characters.
I’m currently using a full knights set with 6/6 soldier runes. I use all zerker weapons,jewelry and trinkets. I have right around 2900+ armor and 2900+ attack with 30 something critical damage and 76% critical chance or vise versa.(Sorry I don’t have exact numbers I’m at work) I have 600 something healing and I use great sword/staff mostly. I have all weapon sets but feel these two work the best for my play style. So am I set up properly? Or do I need to get some healing runes or something? Like I said I’m willing to recognize I might just need time to learn to play the class. Also I run the 0/5/30/30/5 build but not sure what traits to use to be honest. I dont know why im going to even bother but here it is. We are all going to have to agree to disagree on this one. But here is the thing to be honest! The devs know what ranger can and cannot do, they have the numbers. They also know how many people play the class.So if only a few lets say 5,000 people go on the forums and complain they may look into the complaint. But if the other 15,000 rangers are not complaining they just blow it off like they have been. The minority are always the loudest, if all rangers started complaining they would fix the issues. I have never been kicked from any party,I have no issues in wvw. The ranger is always talked about as strong in Spvp thats why the pet nerf came, now its spirit builds. Believe what you want and complain and make threads all you want.They will not fix something that is the way they designed it. Personally i’m done with the ranger forums from now on,its really pathetic. I enjoy my ranger and will continue to play it, i love killing people in wvw and we rock pve. Many people have great success with the class. If its not working for you play another dont constantly complain. Good Luck

Yah my point is not to increase pet power. If anything I would like to see a no pet option that puts 4 weapon or class based F-Skills in its place.

This would remove the “forced” playstyle. And negate the fact that rangers are the only class that can be effectively disarmed or forced to change weapons.

The animations are tighter so it’s more difficult to see what they are doing. Detrimental against other players because it’s harder to see a hammer stun or something coming compared to a Norn etc.

So I rolled a guardian awhile back, just to play hammer build. Needless to say its way less exciting than the warrior hammer play style. I plan on creating a warrior tonight and would like any advice the community would care to offer. I plan on running Hammer and Sword/X I would like to have high survivability with damage. I just need this answered real quick please? If I delete a level 80 but save all the armor,weapons and such. As long as I name the new character the same thing, can I use all my stuff. Like if I delete a guardian roll a warrior can I use all my stuff at 80? Thanks to whoever answers

Yes it still has an interrupt plus a faster firing rate than longbow. I like both bows and feel they have different uses. The short bow range barely bothers me to be honest the pet range bothers me.

Sword/axe the sword actually keeps a lock on an enemy. So you keep following and tagging, plus the axe has whirl. So when they pop confusion or something you can reflect all that damage back. Mesmers drop easy when you are in their face, clones matter none. Sword/axe works great on thief also, plus carry longbow barrage follows them in stealth I always love when they come out of stealth and are downed after barrage. Works on the new ranger stealth also. A lot of rangers are trying that trick and get burst down from barrage while in stealth. Good luck

Well your going to get a few different opinions on that. Some run staff full time in WvW and find and think its very do able. Others think its a death sentence because you have less escapes and no real single target damage. I like staff I however use it for Zerg play and defending keeps. If you stay in a group it’s fine and provides excellent support for a group. However you go out on your own its rather hard I found to live. Taking camps and solo roaming is not the same on an ele. Rangers are very good at solo roaming in WvW despite all the complaining its true. Ele requires a little more caution you cannot do huge damage and also have tons of survivability. Dagger/dagger is your best bet but you have to pull targets out, or prepare to dodge and kite a lot. It’s a different play style to be honest. But back to the staff question, staff is great it the Swiss Army knife of gw2. But in my opinion is used best in groups and defending not roaming. Stick with D/D or scepter/Dagger.

Well I learned today while there are a lot of pretty cool people on Maguuma, there’s also a few jerks who like being total kittens. Was sitting in the south camp on YB borderland with a few Mags,1 CD guy and a couple other people from YB. we already had the whole map, so there wasn’t much left to do on there anyway so I was just screwing around. We all sat down, in our town clothes. There was one charr from Mag who was playing on that flute and was pretty good. We were just hanging out, obviously not fighting eachother since we were in our town clothes. even had a costume brawl with one of them who I threw a bouquet of roses at. Anyway, two thieves with the guild tag NOVA roll up. I assume they’re just going to sit down with us. They stealth and start ganking everyone. obviously we died since we were still in our town clothes, sitting down. I was able to react and get away a bit before eventually being killed by the other thief. who then proceeded to laugh and dance as if they’d accomplished something great by killing a bunch of people who didn’t even fight back. Real classy guys. I now know that people in your guild have no sense honor whatsoever and that I should attack you on sight.

I know, they suck in an actual fight. I probably could have killed them with my bouquet of roses if I had actually fought back. But I stood there like an idiot thinking they would stop and we could continue what we were doing. Plus I was still standing next to the other people who we were sitting with before they rolled up and I didn’t want to hit them if I started swinging at those 2 morons. So yeah, it’s partially my fault as well for not fighting back.

Sorry this happened to you! I know all servers have people like this, it’s unfortunate. We have received some recent BP transfers hopefully it was one of them(who do not know any better).Most original Mags have a little more class than to dance on or attack people in town clothes. Not much but a little more.

If we can use skills or heal in stealth people will cry OP for sure. Go stealth hit heal that’s a game changer for sure. Kinda like mist form got nerfed, thieves won’t have to worry though. They can just still hit stealth and runaway like they always do.

@ OP: Engineer takes time and practice more so than other classes, and genuinely plays completely different than every class.

For starters, when piecing together that first build, try out everything…well except Mortar, it’s a wholesale piece of !@#$ wrapped in burnt hair and shoved inside road kill that got hit by a gravel truck…twice. That being said every other skill presents interesting build choices that’re varied degrees of viable in varied situations and game modes. Turrets for example are not well suited for WvW, but in sPvP they can be used to lock down capture points effectively.

LOL So I take it Mortar is your favorite skill for the engineer?

Long and short is develop a play style, draw upon your experience with the other classes you’ve leveled, and ensure you’ve built to counter them. Otherwise welcome to the wild wacky world of Flamethrowers, Rocket Boots, and air dropped Supply Crates.

First off hello engineer community! Tomorrow ill be starting my fifth and final character I decided engineer over Necro it seems more fun play in my opinion. So I’m basically looking for an advice you guys are willing to give please. I plan on playing in WvW and pve content. I enjoy roaming with a small group in WvW and we do the world bosses and events. I’m rolling an asura since that’s my favorite race, I have an asuran ele and a guardian.
Anyway if you would be so kind to give any gear or build advice I would be grateful. Thank you in advance for any new help for the engineer noob

This is my biggest complaint with the “balance” to be honest. The pet damage I can get over, I never put more then five points in that tree anyway. The short bow range decrease also doesn’t bother me. But I always sent my pet in first as a distraction tactic, now I guess we adjust. Wish they would increase the range back though they can keep the damage as it currently is.

Ive always used my pet as a distraction nothing more to be honest.The damage nerf did zero to my build or playstyle. The shortbow nerf i really havent noticed at all. However the pet leash range put a damper on my style a bit, i would like to see it extended a bit more. I think the devs will eventually try to do something with ranger. But I dont believe its going to be in line with what people believe ranger should be.

Um are you new to the ranger class? Ive been a ranger since early release late beta, pet AI has been crap since then. Ive learned to never rely on the pet and adjust your play accordingly. Welcome to Ranger
