Last night on Yak’s BL in your guys garrison was Epic! Good three way fight between the servers. That’s what WvW should be! Xushin great job commanding as always, hope your on tonight. Yaks and CD I hope we get to fight again this week. I think it’s a good match up overall. Despite the forum warriors on all sides it’s been an enjoyable WvW week. Thanks again for the huge garrison battle and good job wiping us, hope to do it again soon.

Thanks for the help! Would like to have some ability to roam WvW when no ones around, is it possible with guardian? I got owned by a thief and guardian last night. But when I was with a small group and we hit a Zerg the bags just poured in. I would really appreciate any feedback.

I’m not new to guardian but its been awhile since I played it. So just need to catch up some please. So unless we run staff we have no trait or way to really maintain swiftness correct? Also I’m running three pieces of zerker gear and two pieces of ppt and soldiers runes. With all zerker weapons except staff. Am I on the correct path? I’m running 10/10/20/30 build I’m trying right now. Was running 0/10/30/30/0 any help would be nice thanks

If this is true, can we then please have some communication from your team? As you can see, your community is feeling very angry, a bit mislead, and extremely confused. It would be very helpful for one of you to sit down and detail to us what your actual vision of this class is. Right now we can’t really find anything we are better than anyone else at, no role that we can fill that others can’t fill better. People are actually being turned away from parties in some cases because of their class, because the vision of what role the ranger could fill in any group setting is very cloudy.

All we have to go on is a months old developer quote saying that Ranger is probably the most broken class, and the writeup on your professions page on the main site. The skills/traits given along with the adjustments to traits and weapons over the past 9 months does not reflect in even a small way the class that is presented in that write up. So clearly that descriptions is wrong. In it’s place, we need a description of either what we are, or what we are going to be after you are done carving us up.

And we would really appreciate some comments on these pet changes as well as the absolutely crippling problems many of us have with pets in larger encounters in WvW. How does ANet feel about these problems, and do they even view them as such? Do you plan to address them?

Even if the answer is “We don’t have an overarching vision, we feel that you are as powerful as you need to be and that your role is fulfilled. Live with it.”, it’s better to know where we stand so that those of us who are angry and disappointed can move on either to a different class or a different game rather than sitting around wondering what happens next…

I agree 100% this^^^ give us something at least. I like my ranger but the direction it’s headed us so unclear. I loved my ele but that got kitten d to a total support build and now ranger is op and takes a hit. Just give us some clarity on the class.

Which I get but does it not seem some classes are in fact far superior to others? Example my thief in pve sucks, mobs destroy me. But in WvW the thief is good, same for the Mesmer in pve not great WvW good. Guardian good in both if traited and played correctly, ranger op in pve and still good in WvW. So how is this a balance?

I would like an official Dev to answer this question please? Regardless of what class you play or build. How are the classes even close to being balanced? Even before the last patch the gap was pretty wide between the classes. Now with the new patch it seems while some improved the gap is even wider between some classes.
I have many level 80’s I enjoy playing them all, but the difference is huge in my opinion. Just explain it to me please and it may also help some of the rage threads calm down. Thank You

Well the rangers are kitten the elementalist are kitten. Thief forums are overly happy it seems guardians and warriors meh. Engines and necro’s seem happy. I think the definition of Balance should be looked up. Balance isn’t making one class weaker and buffing the already OP ones.
I have a few different level 80’s and the difference is amazing when you switch characters. I hope they reevaluate what exactly they are trying to do. A lot of people are kitten ill reserve judgment till I get in WvW and see the changes.

No I don’t run a BM build, I only have 5 in that trait line. As far as Short bow goes I actually benefit with the damage increase. I run sword/torch and use SB for in between up close anyway so the range isn’t an issue with my play style. If I need more range I carry a LB but I stay within sword/torch range and swap for interrupts and poison plus the evade then swap again. Good luck everyone regardless I like ranger the best I have other 80’s but don’t enjoy the style as much.

I’m enjoying this match up as of now, neither Yaks or CD runs from fights. I solo roam a lot and you guys typically engage in a fight. I enjoy there are people on your servers roaming. We haven’t had much of this due to fighting tier 1-3 servers normally. It’s just Zerg Zerg Zerg I like this better.
Thanks to Yaks tonight on our BL for the fights by south east tower and camp. Was enjoyable trying to take the camp and you guys kept pouring in through your spawn.
Anyway thanks to all the servers it’s been fun so far. Any roamers feel free to look for me I’m the female norn in tier 3 armor. I’ll chat or fight or whatever.

I love the scepter! I have run this with my ele since I started, been gone a long time from her though. Just curious though it seems we are still basically an attrition class?

So I’ve spent a considerable amount of time away from my elementalist. Been successfully playing a roaming ranger. However I miss the versatility of my ele. I’m currently using runes of altruism and clerics armor. I have 1,211 healing power and around 2,200-2,500 armor and power. I run 0/10/10/20/30 and use staff and scepter focus/dagger. My question is have we been improved to where maybe I can do more damage? Or should I just stay with my old build and out heal my enemies and whittle them down with my damage? Thanks for any help

Was fun roaming in our BL today taking camps and sentries. Reporting on Db’s movements and taking out SBI and DB soldiers. Got interesting when we finally turned everything blue again. Then the 30-40 man DB Zerg kept hitting SE tower then took our EK. Regardless I got a lot of badges and made some gold today was fun!

Might as well nerf pet damage and while we are at can we take away bows and give us rubber band guns please?

Welcome back DB and hello SBI! I like the new system gives some variety that’s for sure. While I’m not looking forward to getting rolled by large groups it will be fun to evade and employ some tactics. NNK I’m coming for you, you guys are good but i’ll pick off every last NNk roamer I see this match.

I know we are gonna get creamed since we are playing a tier 1 server but i enjoy the fights. Plus its no fun fighting the same servers and wiping them for months.

I’m gonna be honest with you and many will probably say the same. For pve as a ranger you can use any weapons you want or like using. I use both bows LB/SB and a greatsword. As far as a build goes its pretty much the same, in pve rangers are one of the strongest class. I have played with all builds and never noticed a difference really in pve. WVW is a different story but for pve do whatever you want and have fun.

. I love my ranger I’ve tried the other classes and ranger fits my play style. I use LB/SB in WVW and run a hybrid build of BM. I kill effectively in 1v1 and can survive awhile in outnumbered encounters. Kill in 15 seconds I don’t know I’ve never timed or thought about it I just play and have fun. Rangers are a good roaming class I take camps and hunt people in WVW all the time. If you Zerg run the edges and use barrage and poison volley. You hit multiple targets and usually get bags or loot once they die. I usually get a lot of bag drops in Zerg vs Zerg warfare. I have tried many pets i like the eagle/panther combo and use the panther/polar bear in high population BL for tankiness. The only real advice is try it if you don’t like it what do you really have to lose? It’s just a game you play to have fun.

I have been searching the forums for a build to use and have decided on the BM Bunker after watching the video posted by Xsorus.2507. My current set up is 30/20/x/x/20. For armor I have full Armageddon Karma armor with the runes of Balthazar that come with it. I have 1,937 power, 1522 precision, 1740 toughness, 1288 vitality, 120 condition damage, and 364 healing power. My question is should I continue to use what I have and save myself the 10 some gold it would take to buy the armor. Or is my current set up so horrid that I need to either buy the armor for the Bm bunker build with gold or buy a different karma set.

If your gonna just do pve it does not really matter the build. Rangers are very powerful in pve and despite the rumors we kill in dungeons also.
I don’t run a BM build I tried it and it wasn’t my play style, instead play around with traits. Find an armor you like and decide to go for that, i took tier 3 norn very cool in my opinion. Decide what you want later and what your goals are. I run all soldiers gear with Dwayna runes It works for me.

I would like to be able to use weapons on other characters. I have 2 greatswords one I don’t use anymore. However when my Mesmer gets to 80 I would like to be able to use it on him.
I know they are soul bound once you use, so i propose a small unlock/unsoul bind fee. Maybe a gold or 100 gems to release it from the original character so your other characters can use it. This will allow us to use old weapons and still allow GW2 to make money off of it.

I have 3 80’s ranger was my first character I leveled. After playing other classes I found I always came back to my ranger. I don’t run a typical build or any of the popular builds. But I find I do alright against enemies in WvW, plus I run with a Mesmer buddy of mine.

I like my ranger so much I invested in tier 3 Norn cult armor and its my first choice when I log on.

As a person who mains a ranger and has about 300 hours on an ele it’s easy. Ranger BM bunker or trapper can be killed. Yes they have tons of toughness and healing. However condition removal skills are lacking greatly. Stack bleeds and immobilize them that works 99.9% of the time. Ignore the pet also most rangers plan on you focusing on the pet and not them. On my ranger I run a hybrid build I focus on range and seem to be able to kite most people and take them out. BM and most trappers rely heavy on pets. Bleed them and immobilize ignore the pet or immobilize it. Rangers are still one of the weakest WvW classes.

Maguuma reputation and generalization never fails. After a while they seem to become facts.

Yesterday 2 guys, one from Kaineng and one from Maguuma, went for a duel. Obviously some Maguuma troll have to repeatedly kill the Kaineng guy just to troll him, desperate people politely asking him not to.

Yeah that’s kinda of like your people waiting on the bridge jumping people headed to the duels. I clearly said it was not your whole server! You have very talented guilds on your server, unfortunately you all have a lot of bad apples. As do we I know this I’m just pointing out it seems to be every night in WVW this happens.

It’s not everyone on Kaineng, just like everyone on Maguuma isn’t a hacker. Calm down.

Hello I’ve been running Ranger since start in early access. I use Power/Precision/toughness armor and a mix of p/p/t and power/precision/critical jewelry.
I currently run a 20/30/15/0/5 build which works well in pve and dungeons. I usually have no real problems with a group in WVW and can solo camps.
My question I guess is how effective is berserker or maybe the new sentinel gear for ranger? I use a short bow and greatsword I can kill thieves and most other classes 1v1. More then two I have problems which is normal I guess.
I think I’m just looking for something new and not sure where to go to be honest.

I actually do think this game is fun to be honest. I have played from early access and play when I get time. I run dungeons with guild mates and WvW with a few good friends. I log on to do daily and chat with guild friends. I don’t play every night but try to hit events and WvW on weekends. Play something else your not paying a subscription so your out nothing. From my experiences with the game over the past few months the downed state has only caused problems.

In PvP the defensive side of the downed state makes it near impossible to single out players in zergs and in smaller scale fights it gives an even larger advantage to the group with a few more players. On the offensive side things like quickness or stealth stomping feel necessary for finishing off downed players, putting classes and builds which don’t have access to these things at a disadvantage.

In PvE it greatly reduces the difficulty of the game. Did you just mess up? No problem, you just got a second wind where your allies can revive you in mere seconds, an enemy that you have attacked can be killed to get you back up, or you can use defensive downed skills to escape and heal yourself back up.

Overall the downed state is just too much of a factor in the combat system and does more harm than good. I’m not advocating a removal of the system; I just want to see a few changes to make it less of a factor in the game and to balance out ways to deal with downed opponents.

Anyways, here are two simple changes I feel will address this:

• Players cannot revive downed-state players while in combat.
• As an alternative to the above: If a reviving player is damaged they are interrupted and cannot attempt another revive for 15 seconds.
• Finishing moves should remove stealth, quickness, stability, and anything of that sort.

While I respect your personal opinion in general I disagree totally. As a person who mainly WVW. I think it adds an aspect of difficulty to the game that adds challenge. Example 5 people hold a keep 12 come to take it you kill 8 out of 12 attackers. Using siege, arrow carts yada yada. Now those twelve people start to res other players which adds a since of urgency to down the remaining 4.

My point is its been part of the game since the beginning people have learned to deal with it from both aspects. I’ve come up on fights with people down and saved them to fight again, only to be wiped with them. Also had the same thing in reverse and it end in victory.
Learn to deal with what has always been there,I don’t like that my ranger seems under powered compared to other classes. But I dealt with it and figured out a build to survive and do damage.

Just saying to cope with the hand you are dealt, you can complain but it won’t get changed in the end. Good luck

Honestly I think most of us will be happy when this match up is over. Maguuma will go about its normal way( Of partying and having FUn) and Db will continue to build and stay competitive. While Kain will do whatever its gonna do only time will tell whats gonna happen for sure. Either way good luck everyone and show your next competitors some respect.

Way to have class( Pre) one of your guild buddies jumps people while taking camps then dances on the corpse. I get its wvw and getting ambushed by a thief is part of the game. But really dancing on Bodies and laughing is a total shame.

Maybe, I don’t know about the rest of ‘em. I’m just a simple old Kain along for the ride playing like I always have. Good strategy in the long run or not (it’s not, I know), it works for the majority of my server right now at this moment to zerg zerg zerg and that’s what they’re gonna do regardless of what else is going on. Well at least the old Kaineng guys know the issues they are having. When you guys get bumped up an fight the top dogs who will stomp your zergs. Maybe then you guys can coordinate your people and teach them actual tactics instead of just a 30 man rush and see who lives. I know last night in EB we where way out numbered you should have stomped us at Bravo and Garrison. But you just kept throwing bodies at us that just have us badges. Hope your transfer people start to learn from you older guys.

On behalf of myself I would like to apologize to Kaineng and our person in Kaineng BL tonight. I was leading a small group capping camps in your BL tonight. We came over the ridge at SS and saw only Red no Green allies. We took out one of your people when I realized what was going on. I tried to stop the others in my group faster but was unable to. I believe they downed one more before I got them to stop. I bowed in front of the dead Kain and told our people to say sorry.

Regardless if the message was passed on or not I once again apologize to the Kain that was killed.

Hello! I’m sorta new the WvW thing and trying to really learn as much as I can this week. I noticed in the other threads what appeared to be sarcasm at golem tactics. What is wrong with doing it? Is it considered a cop out? What would you consider a better strategy if the golems look like they will work?

Golems are somewhat expensive and if not defended against quickly enough they are very effective. But numbers like 13 seem seriously excessive.

Excessive humph! Never kind sir never! However when you use golems to cover the fact that you and your team have zero skill it may be an issue.

I think i said I’m sure they have good players but don’t show case it. Just seems every solo fight they go down fast, then like i said go for the kill and here comes 10.

Hey everyone, sorry to not post about this sooner, the last few days have been a little hectic and I wanted to verify a couple things first about the issues we’ve been seeing with the queues before posting anything.

As many of you know, it is possible for someone to queue up for a map after you and get in first. We’re trying to get that fixed as soon as possible but unfortunately we still need a bit more time to solve the problem. We will definitely keep you updated when there is any news on our progress.

I have been checking the queue sizes and wait times for each matchup, and there are a couple interesting things I’ve observed so far that may help reduce queue times for some of you.

Worlds at the top of the rankings can have queues that reach multiple hours (particularly for the Eternal Battlegrounds map), but most of the worlds in the bottom half of the ranking quite frequently have open spots in at least a few maps, and the lower ranked the server is, the more likely it is that there are spots available. I’ll be posting the up to date world rankings shortly.

When there are queues for every map, the wait time for borderland maps tends to be shorter. Enemy team borderlands tend to have the smallest queues for just about every team so you may want to try entering those maps first before attempting to queue for the Eternal Battlegrounds. If you are just entering the queue for the battlegrounds and not checking the borderlands maps first to see if they have space open, you could be missing out on playing in the Borderlands while you wait for a spot to open up for you in the Battlegrounds.

That being said, while we still have worlds that consistently have open spots for more players, it would be fantastic if some players out there could help us spread the WvW population out a bit so we don’t have a few heavily stacked populations facing large queues on some worlds while many other worlds still have room to support people.

While I know this isn’t what most of you wanted to hear, I also want all of you to know that we are still investigating numerous other options we can take to help resolve some of these ongoing queue issues and we’ve been discussing them internally every day to see what would provide everyone with the best long term solution, but we wont have anything ready on that front for quite a while.

Ideally, we would see some people move from worlds with extreme queue times to worlds that need additional people and start building up active wvw communities there as well. Having more worlds with heavily active populations in WvW will be a very good thing for the long term health of the game, and spreading out the population will help reduce the queue times on the worlds with the longest queues.

While queues do indeed suck, the fact that they are this bad is because so many of you are trying to play and that is actually one of the best possible problems we can have at this point. It may sound silly, but it means that there are quite a few of you out there are enjoying the game and we’re thrilled that so many of you are out there trying to fight for your world. We will do our best to make sure you can.

Finally, I would like to ask everyone to post any additional queue comments to this thread only from now on and refrain from creating additional threads about it.

I think we need a server balance at the moment, either merge lower servers. Or evenly split players across all servers.Yes people will complain but that way it is fair across the board overall. The communities will rebuild and new wvw teams will be created making all competitve. Im not on a lower population server and the longest i have waited is 20 minutes. While its annoying its normally only on reset night then the band wagoners go about their normal day and no wait at all.

In my experience most people will go out of their way to revive dead/downed players if they can manage it. GW2 has a pretty kind community as far as that goes.

I agree i have never ran by a player and not tried to help if they are downed.Even in wvw i try to rez even when a zerg is coming. I think the community is the really good about this overall.

Just my opinion but Kain is a little talentless, you guys are only effective in 15-20 man zergs. I have yet to fight one of you guys solo that I haven’t been stomping till 10 more show up. I am sure you have good players but you never show case it. Oh and camping North spawn( Meow) is a little lame. Your big numbers will get you pushed up to the higher tiers but your gonna get it handed to you when you hit the Elite of WvW. Also where is DB this week? I have rarely seen any of you guys.

The new culling is worse then it was before for sure. Now huge groups just show up right in front of you, its a stealth for zerg’s. I dont know how many times i was running around and then get hit by a 15 man zerg with 10 feet of notice.They need to fix or put back the way it was.
