It is nice to hear these kind words. I wonder what Arborstone has to say about us having been our main rival for a few months now.
Piken Square
I’d just like to reiterate the fact that the community raidcall is somewhere anyone is welcome to go, not just the main WvW guilds that made it. My guild uses it’s own teamspeak but I like to pop onto the raidcall every now and again either to coordinate or simply join up with the other guilds.
Regarding the quality of our defense, I think the main problem is, outside of our borderlands, we can’t sustain decent numbers for more than a few hours at a time. When we are on terms with our opponents we almost always make things difficult. Then a guild leaves for a guild mission/break/whatever and we end up outmanned for a while.
Just 1 or 2 more guilds would help us hold a much more consistent threat.
Piken Square
Our border is constantly being pressured and we have become masters at defence this way, however, we’re very tired of always having to turtle in our own borderland, without being able to get the pressure off us by attacking a different border.
Very often the enemy borders are ripe for the taking but we don’t quite have the numbers to hold our own at the same time. A guild that could field around 20 players regularly would make a noticable difference, probably more so than in any other server (except perhaps Vabbi and FoW).
Since the game launched it always seems to be our opponents that get transfers, so the WvW community here would be really pleased to see any new faces.

Second that. Together with RoF, Dzagonur is my favourite opponent.
I really like WSR also.
Those guys are in for a fight despite having lower numbers and they also have a very friendly approach at the forums too.
I would like to return the thanks to GH for the friendly approach on the forums, and for all the compliments on our defending, which we sure did a lot of.
It’s a shame we can’t draw the same numbers as you guys because the rare moments we did resulted in some really great fights. It would be nice if we could have returned the favour in your borderlands.
If you ever get bored with T7 for some reason, you’ll know where to find us. Hanging on for dear life in T8 as we always have been, and seemingly always will be.

Just had some fun little fights with FURY and co. outside Greenbriar on our borders. Feel free to stand around like that anytime
Piken Square
It’s only 500 gems to transfer to a medium pop server you know.
Piken Square
The SM fight was a lot of fun. I don’t think we ever had a chance with our numbers but you never want to miss out on a three-way
Piken Square
Nooo please don’t get more people!
We’re having one of the most enjoyable matches for months with you lot at your current strength.
Piken Square
That was quite a lot of GH that forced us of EB and most of our borders considering they’re focusing on arbor.
Piken Square
Then once you’ve focused Eclipse down to T9 he can complain about FoW and Vabbi focusing.
Piken Square
- You rushed AS Hills at reset (normal at reset)
- You kept AS Hills since reset (normal in WvW)
- You defend AS Hills (common sense)
- As you have AS Hills you just keep pressure on AS BL
How can you even say its not a focus (again not deliberate/not planned but on field it is working as a clear focus). Or perhaps give your definition of what a focus is?
Your parentheses explain it quite well.
To me, focusing would be not doing the same to WSR given the opportunity. So if the manage to get our hills but don’t bother to defend then you can complain all you want. It’s not like GH have never attacked our borders.
Piken Square
Can’t say I’ve found GH to be any zergier than our previous opponents. They may have many groups of 20-30 but that’s inevitable when there’s superior numbers, unlike the 80 man blobs I saw Dz make a few times.
Also, just wanted to say I had a good time last night in GH borders around redlake and hills. Props to [SOE] on constantly taking out all our siege, but I think our guild still has a bit to learn about coordinating effectively. I hope for similar fights in the future.

The wait time in this JP is not as bad as the one in Clocktower. not only is it shorter, but you can have a snowball fight while you wait.
The snowball fight is nice but in my experience the wait is worse because people tend to get much further.

I wont’ be doing the jumping puzzle until they patch it into a non-timed puzzle
Don’t hold your breath.
Piken Square
Reporting back. It was tougher than doing it normally but eventually I managed to complete it using only one hand so quit your jibber jabber and keep trying!
Also, I don’t find the timer to be cheap at all. It’s a entirely different type of challenge to a puzzle that requires different skill sets.
Piken Square
It should be doable one handed by binding jump to a mouse button (I imagine you have them or else your experience in the rest of the game would be compromised) as left+right click makes you run. I’ll try it one hande myself and get back to you.
I sympathise with your situation but, as much as it may suck, you are in a small minority and as such, can only expect to be catered for in ways that don’t compromise the experience for others. The timer happens to be what makes these puzzles a different and, in my opinion, more enjoyable challenge from all the other puzzles in the game.

As a member of OTE i’m sorry our guild hasn’t been pulling it’s weight the last couple of weeks. Many of our members have started to focus on FotM and leveling alts instead of WvW.

after finishing the searing fractal my party bugged. we were lead to another fractal but we still remained as charr’s flame legion. We have to free the slaves on the underwater fractal but we couldnt press F so we had to leave the dungeon.
Our party had exactly this problem but we found it was because a mob was stuck in a wall. Once we killed it we were able to proceed.

So what you mean in not all boosters are usable.

Bear in mind the idea of immersion means different things to different people and I am no expert in this field so the following piece is opinion, not an attempt at fact.
It’s not the concept of fast travelling that is immersion breaking but what happens when you do so.
When you use a waypoint you bring up an overlay that takes up the entire screen. You then select a location on this overlay, confirm your decision and then have a loading screen replace this overlay until you suddenly pop into your new location. Even if teleporting was an accepted and logical practice, this is not how it would work. Remember in real life when that loading screen or UI suddenly took up your entire view? Neither do I. May that ever happen? No. And you brain knows this.
An example of how something, in theory, could be more immersive is the asura gates. As it stands, you run up to a purple circle, floating text suddenly appears on said circle, you get the loading screen again and you pop in next to another purple circle somewhere else.
Alternatively, were it possible, they could function much like portals in Portal. You run up to a circle, see somewhere through the circle (possibly with some distortion) and simply run towards it until you are there, like in Portal. Although it is not like anything I will experience in real life, like loading screens, my mind can at least be convinced that this is consistent with what ‘should’ happen.
You may then say “But there are loads of things that aren’t like real life, such as third person view and the UI.” This is correct. These things I find do make it harder to get immersed, but since I don’t have to interact with them (except sometimes using the UI which does break things) my mind puts them in the background and concentrates on what is actually happening. I find only having to do things which my mind thinks are wrong breaks immersion.
So everytime I use a waypoint I have to do something my mind doesn’t think should happen. I am reminded that I am simply pressing buttons to make pixels on a screen change colour before once again becoming part of another universe. This does not in itself mean that removing the ability to fast travel would be a good idea but is one of the reasons why I would reduce the number of waypoints.

An alternate scoring system. Accounting for population differences.

Have you run a simulation where you include the bonus points but not the multiplier?

Whilst night capping is an issue, I think it is really a symptom of the underlying problem that holding the whole map when you outnumber the opposition is too easy. If it was really difficult to do, not only would night capping be less effective but server mismatches would not be so uncompetitive it isn’t fun.
Other than the basic system of giving points for holding capture nodes, there are several mechanics that have an effect on how easy this is to do. Orbs of power, supply and NPC factions, who help out teams who help them. The problem is that these mechanics all help out the team who is dominant, not those on the recieving end, so they perpetuate one team holding everything.
A solution I think may help is to keep the NPC factions the same when the match is balanced, but when one team holds say 66% of the map the NPCs become that team’s enemy and an ally of the others. So the teams that are losing will at least have a chance of holding a few supply camps and towers but the best team should still be able to hold the keeps and the towers that aren’t near the NPCs. There are a couple of possible issues with this such as when the losing teams try to fight each other, what do the NPCs do. Also there may be a situation where the winning team doesn’t want more than 65% of the map so avoid this mechanic.
Alternatively the same thing could happen but when one server has at least 66% of the players on the map. They could also make the underdog bonuses buff your stats rather than xp and karma.
