Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by Anet being incompetent at writing tooltips and patchnotes. What I think they mean is “Enemies are now able to be struck by each use of this ability only once every 0.5 seconds.”
Has anyone tested which description is the case?
Edit: It turns out the wording is in this case correct, see here. I agree this is a rather weird way to fix it. I guess I’ve already given a suggestion for what it should have been.

- Objectives upgrades will no longer be automatic based on time. They will upgrade based on dolyaks that reach them.
Awesome. I had been hoping for exactly this change ever since you announced the automatic upgrades.
- Supply cost for all catapults are being reduced by ten supply.
I like the impact it will have for smaller groups. That said, I think you perhaps need to think about revisiting the balance between gates and walls. Ever since you added fortified gates there hasn’t been all that much reason to attack them instead off walls.
- Points per kill will be turned on and kept on.
I would rather you focused on making sure that fights are an important part of capping and holding objectives rather than resolving WvW matchups artificially. If fights are as important as you say, their effect will be reflected in the team that wins fights holding more objectives and having a higher tick anyway. My worry with this change is that it will discourage groups from taking on fights unless they have the upper hand (i.e. they have the bigger blob).
The one positive of this is the slight shift of importance away from night capping.
- The number of players who can rally off a single kill has been reduced from five to one.
I’ve wanted to see how this would play out for years.
- Players will also no longer be able to revive defeated players while in combat. You still will be able to revive downed players while in combat.
I’m in two minds about this. On the one hand it will allow smaller groups to whittle down larger ones more effectively which is a great thing. On the other hand it will likely make lives even harder for commanders and other melee players who actually try to push and make something happen in a fight.
If you were to make balance changes that reduce the effectiveness of pirate shipping (maybe that’s too much to hope for), this would definitely be a good change.
All in all I look forward to seeing these changes. Thanks for listening to our feedback.

Thanks for the response. Gone from 4KB/s to 3MB/s with the new client.
So what stops people from stacking charges with skills and swapping out other ones?
You can’t change a skill when it is on cooldown, all the skills that give stability have a greater cooldown than the stability duration and no weapons skills give stability. The only skill you could do that with is toss elixir B.

The point is that the effect of the icebow #5 will never actually happen to the boss, no matter how much of the bar it takes.

On every single conquest map holding two points for the duration of the game without dying is a guaranteed win, no matter what the other team does with the map mechanic.
If the other team is trying to avoid combat, simply sending at least one person to at least two points, a trivial task, is all you have to do to hold two points and win. Even if your point is decapped by tranquillity or an orb, you will cap it strait back and win unless they fight you for it.
It is possible to win a match without fighting, but only if the enemy team is zerging or AFK, which is their own fault.
I was addressing the issues being brought up in his post, EBG is the most popular map, and runs the highest ques among ALL servers. That does not mean that people do not run on BL, that just means that MORE people run on EBG. This is a fact of the game.
Bear in mind there is only one EBG and three borderlands. If EBG was only half as popular it would still be getting higher queues.
First off, I agree with most of the comments here that OP is jumping the gun here. Heart of Maguuma will almost certainly be a new region with multiple zones and the rest of the features (subject to what challenging group content actually means) sound comparable to what you’d expect from expansions in other games.
I have one bugbear from this thread though. Sure, Factions and Nightfall were technically stand-alone campaigns rather than expansions, but so what? If you already owned GW and chose to link the new campaign to your account, which is what most people did, it would then function exactly the same as an expansion.
The fact that those expansions (yes I used that word intentionally) had the additional feature that they could be played without linking to the original game doesn’t mean we can’t cite them for comparison or should somehow expect less of HoT because of it.
I’m not sure what the cause is, but I have had this same thing happen to me. My party thought I was making up excuses for failed dodges.
I can say from experience that the bandit, pirate and centaur bosses can each be done in the gold time limit with 3-4 people, so 40 should be enough in theory.
Why should you expect these people to listen to you? Some random person in the group, telling Commanders to tag down or your other instructions. They don’t know you from Adam. Don’t know if you are reliable, know what you are talking about or if you are trolling. It’s rather arrogant to be telling strangers how to do something totally different from the way it was the last time and then expecting them to obey.
I don’t necessarily expect strangers to obey. I expect them to weigh up the possibility that I’m talking sense against the fact that what they’re currently doing clearly isn’t working. If they’re not convinced my strategy would work they can ask me why before rejecting it. What they’re currently doing clearly isn’t right so they should be wondering why.
This shouldn’t be a foreign concept to people. It’s common sense.
OK one last try. To start, forget GW2 even exists.
In Nerfland, Tom has a sword which does 10 damage with each hit. He is capable of hitting his foes once every second, meaning he does a maximum of 10 damage per second.
His friend Brenda also has a sword. Her sword is identical to Tom’s, as is her strength, so she also does 10 damage to her foes with each hit. She also strikes once each second making her maximum damage per second 10.
Tom and Brenda were skipping through a meadow when out of nowhere jumped a fearsome troll. Tom recalled from his guide to the creatures of Nerfland that a troll will fall after a mere 18 strikes with a sword.
Exchanging a nod with Brenda, Tom drew his sword and struck the troll. Brenda, not wanting to be outdone, followed his blow immediately with one of her own. The troll knew not how to respond to such advanced manoeuvres and simply stamped its foot on the ground, only to be met by 2 further blows a second after the initial strike. 7 seconds later, Tom and Brenda hit the troll for the last time. They had now struck the creature 9 times each totalling 180 damage so it collapsed in a heap to the ground.
The gods of Nerfland looked down upon this encounter and were not best pleased. Every single second, Tom and Brenda were able to hit for 10 damage each, meaning their group damage per second was 20. Perhaps if the blade of the sword was slightly dulled, reducing the damage per hit from 10 to 9, the troll would have stood a fair chance. This would make the tales that Tom and Brenda would tell much more impressive.
Tom and Brenda resumed their skip through the meadow only to be met by another troll. “Same again?” asked Tom. “I guess.” responded Brenda, clearly still exhilarated by the battle they had just fought. Much like before, Tom and Brenda struck the troll with their swords but something was wrong. Their blades did not penetrate the thick hide of the troll the same way they had done before. Nevertheless, the troll whimpered and stamped its foot the same way the other had done.
After the standard 9 strikes each the troll still stood. The swords were only doing 9 damage per strike, so the troll had 18/180 health remaining. Shrugging his shoulders, Tom hit it one more time with his friend following immediately after. The troll fell.
“Hmm”, said Brenda. “It took us 20 hits to fell the troll when before it was only 18. It seems our DPS has been nerfed by 10 percent.”
The gods looked down upon this perplexed. The troll should have been able to withstand those blows now they did less damage. Maybe they should have a bit more health…
I know the answer to my question. The purpose of it is help you understand things better. Please just try.
By that logic a group of 10 zerkers would do no damage whatsoever.
first of all you run dungeon with 5 not 10,
secondly the purpose of nerfing zerker is to keep them in part with other build like condition.
Condition build is infamous for 2 reason
1) condition build deals less damage then a berserker build
2) doesn’t play well with other condition buildsAfter patch zerker build is receiving a 10% nerf on there damage so says anet, mean while anet is going allow the use of stacking effect sigil , meaning now a condition build can stack 250 power and 250 condition damage and having sigil that effect on hit not on crit.
So plain and simple condition are getting a buff when zerker are getting a nerf,
You claimed that a 10% nerf to 1 character would mean a 50% for a group of 5. I am addressing this claim and only this claim.
Please just answer me one question. How much damage will a group of 10 zerkers after this patch? I know dungeons are only for groups of 5, but if your logic is sound it should work for all group sizes.
So Drakent, how much damage would a group of 10 zerkers do after this patch?
By that logic a group of 10 zerkers would do no damage whatsoever.
1) Guilds
2) The open world
3) Support and control in PvE
1) Uneven matches (population, no incentive to 2v1 the top server etc.)
2) Commander functionality
3) Zerging
You’re also denying the other servers that 1 point per stomp, so it’s still worth it to get all three buffs.
Valkyries of Dwayna [VoD] is a small PvX guild based on Piken Square. We grew tired of guilds with hundreds of faceless members and started [VoD] to be part of a much more tight-knit group.
We try to have a friendly, social atmosphere alongside effective teamwork so TeamSpeak is at the heart of almost everything we do. Groups and activities are decided on and formed in TS, but we like to hang out there even when people are doing their own thing in game. Rather than having a set schedule we discuss what we would like to do together and go from there.
What do we like to do?
In PvE we often form parties to explore maps, find secret places and do events on top of our numerous dungeon runs.
In WvW we sometimes follow larger groups but we mostly like to roam around as a small group that looks to flip camps, control the bloodlust buff and of course never turn down a good fight.
In PvP we usually do tournaments with planned out builds and strategies instead of hotjoin matches.
Anything else someone feels like doing is on the table. Some of us like to play the odd game of LoL or Hedgewars together.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for players who are:
1) 16+
2) Able and willing to hang out with the rest of us on TeamSpeak.
3) Able to follow instructions and work with others as team, but don’t worry if you’re not an expert at the game. We judge your willingness to learn over your experience or skill level.
We are a very social group of players, so we want people who will actually feel like a part of the group rather than just some player we regularly play with. If you like the idea of tight-knit, community based guild you are likely to be a good fit.
Sounds good. What now?
If you think [VoD] might be of interest to you, visit http://valkyriesofdwayna.com/ for more information and to make an application to join.
Feel free to contact us in game if you have any further questions or want to play with us for a bit. The guild leaders are:
Silfie.3176
Murderous Clown.9723 – Almost always playing as Jimibabob
So it would seem, though I’ll reserve full judgement til we know what the changes to the Bloodlust buff are.
Well you could yourself as a party up with that description and another party could then choose to merge with you.
The forum has been in that state for at least a year now. It’s no hope trying to rescue that thing.
I’m not on WSR anymore but I think your best bet for finding a large group of people is to go directly to guild leaders since the randoms will probably ignore you. I recall there was an alliance between TSO, GAaY, Pink, CD, Cain and MaD called the Whiteside Legacy Alliance which had a shared teamspeak, so getting in contact with them may be your best bet.
I wish you luck in convincing people this is something the server needs to have, because people don’t know what they’re missing until they’ve tried it.
At some point this evening I was added to the beta. There only seem to be the odd dungeon party on there though.
It would be a treadmill if and only if they end up adding more tiers that make ascended obsolete.
Or you could say they decided not to raise the level for 2 handed. Glass half empty or half full issue here.
Almost one year later.. they announce the replacement mechanic, the bloodlust thing, will be released on the 17th.
Best solution I’ve seen so far.
I’ve loved it so far – the only complaint I have is NPCs referring to Divinity’s Reach as “DR” in dialogue…. that’s extremely immersion breaking, to be honest. Otherwise fantastic event!
Why? We use initials like that in real life e.g. LA and KL. I don’t see why Tyrians wouldn’t do the same.
I had been thinking how to word my response for a while. Thanks for putting it better than I probably would have done Homitu.
The only thing I’ll add is that the Skritt burglar and Modus Sceleris are very much blink and you’ll miss it events. If a whole chain was added I believe far more people would notice (and appreciate) it.
Then suggest a solution to effectively curtain inflation of market prices. As it stands, while you deem flippers unethical, they do have the impact of reducing inflation on the market.
Maybe you should first PROVE they reduce inflation because its only a biased speculation.
He’ll say that they reduce inflation by losing money with each transaction fee each time they flip an item.
thing already discussed many times…and proved wrong…
Saying the same things Always is boring :<
Care to point me to where it was proved wrong? Must have missed it.
As someone who also moved from WSR to GH (sorry about that) I can say GH doesn’t have these problems anywhere near as much as WSR. I’m gaining ranks and earning gold at double the rate I used to.
Remember playing a support role involves more than just healing. The protection and stability you give out combined with control skills helps more than you might think, especially in WvW.
I’ve made a new pastime of equipping shield + endure pain + defy pain and running into enemy zerg battles. Had good fun doing that in greenvale on RoS.
Also, thanks for the duel UW Ele. Ymilia I think you were called.
For those that might find fault with me saying this answer me this first. Why should I play the temporary content?
Why go on holiday? You’ll wind up back home anyway. Why get that cut of steak you really like? It’ll be eaten in minutes. Why watch the big game? One of the teams will win and suddenly everyone’s talking about next year. Why go see the travelling circus? They’ll just pack up and go elsewhere.
I understand and partially agree with the desire for more permanency (yes that’s right, this post is not arguing against having more permanent content) but the enjoyment you had with updates doesn’t get erased when the content is removed. That evening where you had a good time exploring the new area still happened. It improved the quality of your day and, as a result, ever so slightly improved the overall quality of your life which after all is the purpose of doing anything other than eating, sleeping and reproducing.
If you don’t actually enjoy doing the content added in the living story then there’s your answer. That said, once you log out for the last time all the work and progress you made becomes moot, so why not enjoy the ride?
At the very bottom you have:
“From the upcoming release of our brand spanking new Looking for Group (LFG) tool, to investigating ways to limit culling in PvE”
Calling out the moderators doesn’t encourage devs to respond.
What TEO do is none of my business.
What I meant was I was hoping RoS and UW would me more evenly matched, like the time we were against RoF and it was a really great week for everyone. That said, there’s definitely fun to be had this week. It could be a whole lot worse.
Nice clean thread but could do with more whinging about the RNG matchups 10/10.
Had lots of nice fight in our borders against Underworld. Was hoping RoS would occupy more of your attention but what can you do? Looking forward to the rest of the week.
For us it’s at 2am.
Have patience. There’s plenty of time between now and this so called vote for details to emerge.
You seem to be getting on ok in your new matchup.
Hehe. Far Shiverpeaks sure gave us a lot of credit that week. Hopefully I’ll have reason to toss some your way.
Last time we faced you I was in a different guild, so I can’t comment on what you may or may not remember of us. It seems me posting in these threads all the time makes people think we’re a major WvW guild or something. God help WSR if we are.
Nice to see other servers starting the thread for once but it needs more pointless pics of blobs 10/10.
I expect TSO will be out in full force this week since some players have until now been put off by “the enemy zergs”. If you see us, be sure to demonstrate what skillful PvP looks like for me.
Apparently that video doesn’t exist.
Still no other posts here?
Anyway, another night with good fights. TSO fought various enemies in Dz border, the guilds that come to mind being DeX and Wolf. Fair play to the RoS that killed us a few times outside Redbriar but we got our own back soon after
I love that Dz felt the need to send 30 people to take back bay from the 4 of us who took it, but that’s your prerogative.
Hopefully the nice fights (and competitiveness of the matchup for that mater) continue.
After the busy matchup thread last week a quiet one isn’t so bad 10/10.
Thanks. We’ve enjoyed a lot the fights we had the last few days. I’d love to see you again were it not for the other bazillion people that join you.
