One more thing i think is a thif should not be able to do finish in stealth, when a player is down the thife should have to unstealth before pressing F, not as it is now he get unstealthed when his character is up in the air at the end off finishing move.
There you can have same but say add on 4 you unstealth any enemy close to you.
I actually used to agree with this, and I have changed my opinion of this as well. The issue here is the same as why the thief can’t lose stealth or have major changes to it. The thief isn’t built to take a ton of damage. A downed player could kill a thief from 40% health to downed in the time it takes to complete a finish move. It would require a major rework of the thief for this to be effectively and fairly implemented as well. Remember, thieves are paper … they just cause a really big paper cut.
I personally feel the downed state is terrible and should be removed all together, but that is a debate for a different thread and different time.

On my thief, I utilized my #5 bow ability to teleport to the gate of a keep over the weekend (once). This placed me partially in the gate. This didn’t immediately lead to anything fruitful, in fact I was now frozen in place and dying quickly to arrow carts. Fortunately, my group was able to bring me back to life, and to my excitement I was no longer stuck in place – in fact, I walked into the keep through the still closed door……………..
I have never attempted this again because I do not condone or enjoy exploiting, however I say this because the first thought people always have when something happens is that they’re “hacking”. In many cases, it probably is, but I am willing to bet others have been as surprised as I was when something similar happened to them.
The question is, what did he do once in? I myself quickly died and went to WP. If he uses this to portal his team in, then that is cheap. If he did not, then chalk it up to a potential accident and everyone move on with their lives and enjoy the close battles that TC, Yaks, and CD are having!

I primarily played a Guardian, and found myself frustrated over this same issue. As per my norm, instead of coming to the forums and kittening about it, I made a thief to learn. My thief is 80 and exotic geared, and is now my main I enjoy this style of play soo much.
First: If they make any major changes to stealth, they will need to make major changes to the rest of the class as a whole. No thief is tanky in any form. They will all die to any class if voided the ability to deceive and hide (yes, yes, thieves can run fast to survive, but that isn’t the point when talking about trying to kill). If the dev’s give into the masses who are complaining about abilities they simply don’t understand and haven’t taken the time to learn, then the class will be forced to be majorly altered into essentially a different class. Might as well call it an assassin then I guess (referencing non-stealthing GW1 class).
Secondly: There are easy ways to exploit what the thief has to do to remain hidden. If you are in a zerg, follow the steps listed above and you win.
Third: Mastering the art of delaying a camps progress at capping takes a lot more skill than people give it the credit for. I have played my thief for a couple weeks now and would say I am only “okay” with keeping myself hidden. I’ve only the past few days found myself effectively killing people without simply dying for the kill, and can mostly keep a point from capping. This only happens because the group doesn’t recate properly tho.
Lastly: Stop claiming the thief will remain perma-stealth and put up the biggest numbers. That is two completely different styles of thieves with completely different builds. A perma-stealth thief (as you call them) is not going to kill you within a couple seconds, while a glass canon thief can not perma-stealth.
My best suggestion to every single person in this thread who was too busier QQ’n here rather than adjusting and improving to overcome is: Create a thief yourself and learn. Knowledge is power, and with enough knowledge you will find yourself realizing it is not as OP as it outwardly seemed. I have now realized this and so can you. Best of luck to all of you in your future learning!

I would like to commend commanders Snurff and Kaeleth on TC. You guys have done a great job leading, organizing / communicating with the masses and a lot of this weeks win is a credit to your efforts.
Additionally, this is the best week of WvW I have had since the release of GW2. All 3 sides have fought some very tough battles. Thank you to Yaks and CD for all of your efforts and both of your servers have been great to play against. I would love nothing more than to see this same match up week in and week out with how close the 3 servers fought all weekend.

TC, sorry about all of your siege at Redlake last night! You guys were not taking that kitten tower.
I am soo confused….. what is a kitten tower?
Kitten: a young cat
- or -
kitten: a woman who likes to date men older than her, usually by about 10 years, or more depending on the woman. Also the opposite of a cougar.

I understand the need to remove the orbs and I in fact support the effort and applaud A-Net for taking measures to protect the community against the issues these orbs cost. I am unfortunately very disappointed overall because this leaves me feeling that A-Net has just taken from WvW repeatedly, without giving anything back.
They removed the incentive to escort Dolyaks, which wouldn’t be necessary except there is incentive to take / defend other objects. This has trivialized the importance of Dolyaks and made it where only those of us who are truly focused on trying to win are helping our poor Dolyaks out. Lower level characters just about never will assist with escorting a Dolyak…. period ….
Now orbs are gone – which had created many of great epic battles on my server. Taking and defending keeps is now far less important and can easily be ignored / left alone.
The point is, while they have done some great games for a lot of the game, I fear they are failing to provide that same level of service to WvW. When the solution is “Well, we can’t fix it sooooo we’ll just remove it”, you have failed.

I play a Thief and a Guardian. There is no reason to modify Thief ranged at all. Short Bow is a very effective weapon when used correctly.
I believe all that should be done for the Guardian is to show a little love to Scepter to make it at least worth carrying around. I want to point out that by little, I literally mean very little love. I don’t want or expect the guardian to ever compete in ranged (again that is LOL). It used to be OP, now it’s a bit nerfed, if they simply did a little bit of stroking to the scepter for guardian both classes would be fine.
As for the rendering issues, don’t hate on thief’s because of the culling issues with the game. They are a fairly balanced class when culling isn’t a factor.
Hell, i think they should really show some love to Necro’s if anything.

After reading this, I disagree with the cost of TP being too high, however I do see one major oversight by A-Net. The cost of repairing is most definitely too low. They should certainly scale the cost of repairing up much higher. No, I’m not being sarcastic.

I am not defending A-Net, but rather explaining. Umbra Occlusion Culling or Hidden Surface Determination is what causes the issues in GW2. It’s actually a fairly commonly used technology across the PC, XBOX 360, and PS3 platforms. This technology will prevent your graphics adapter from rendering objects in which you will not see on the screen; such as objects just off to one side or ther other, or objects which are hidden behind another object.
From what I have read, it appears A-Net allows a maximum of 40 objects to be rendered at one time (however this is likely just speculation). What this means is if you have 60 PC’s & NPC’s on the screen at once, you will not see 20 of them (think massive WvW fight). I realize this is not the reason for this thread, however I felt it was important I put this paragraph in.
The issue you are seeing in major towns is the lag / delay of the third party culling as it occurs and determines what you should see. If you stand still, it will eventually catch up and be displayed. This is processing time this culling process takes to occur in areas with larger amounts of objects (because all objects must be factored prior to filtering). Remember, both NPC’s, PC’s, and possibly even world objects are factored and filtered accordingly. While you may only see 25 PC’s, there could very well be another 15 NPC’s and 10 objects. Objects likely take priority, leaving 10 NPC’s or PC’s to not be displayed.
As I said earlier, this technology is very common in many games. I suspect A-Net did not fully anticipate the size of crowds in events and now is stuck trudging forward until such a time the Umbra and A-Net can resolve it.

This entire thread feels…. silly…. It’s a part of what makes this game challenging. I always found trains (and I was on the receiving side of MANY of them) in EQ to be entertaining, and I find the same things entertaining here (and yes, again, i’ve had quite a few).
The world isn’t safe. I guess next we’ll start seeing people complain about the world event bosses that can wipe out entire forts and kill players when they come near ….
Enjoy the challenge. Enjoy it isn’t always safe. Enjoy the unpredictability. Otherwise you’ll be given a box of bland boredom to live in (like WoW did).

Actually, the supply tent idea still could work, only don’t have it be able to self-generate supplies but rather a place where players can drop / remove supplies. This would allow multiple people to carry the supplies to that seige location, and have a few designated people do all of the building.
The WB tent is VERY OP.
I like everyting else about this idea. I would love to see more items added to WvW.

I am also very interested in some details about your build. I’ll shoot that PM to remind you to post them up here. Thank you Bob.
