And I actually find 4 useful thanks to the blind, wether again it’s avoiding burst, or making a quick opening to heal, i do think a change on 4 wouldn’t hurt tho, 5isnt to bad, a trait to lower CD would be op IMO

Everything Guardians have Warriors can do too, just with the caveat of it typically not being an AoE or party effect. That’s with the addition of better mobility, and better access to hard CC. That’s the thing people hate the most, I think. There just isn’t that much to differentiate the classes anymore. Guardians don’t feel special. It’s the intersection of the “grass is greener” mentality and frustration with lack of attention, polish, or new gameplay.

I can actually agree with this for once aha, because you didn’t say “warriors can do better”

And it is all build dependent, but what I was getting at is that the previous unkillable warrior builds that you had no choice but to run from are now killable :P

Hehe, which we are getting nerfed directly and indirectly while giving us useless traits^.^ (Don’t get me wrong, I think that tons more useful traits even if situational should be added). Also don’t forget that warriors also blocks, heals and stuff as well^.~

We’ll, the traits are useless, but the answer to that is simple, don’t use them xD, and yes they do, but I do believe guardians blocks to be considerably more powerful then warriors, a correctly timed ageis can ruin a warriors burst chain, and if that fails we have shelter, or if run with a focus, focus 5, and renewed focus, the area we lack In compared to warriors is mobility and cc, and we’ll, that burst aha

The reason I posted this was due to all the hate towards warriors I’m seeing on the forums, mainly among pvpers, but after the regen nerf, warriors are fair game and killable again, yet every guardian I’ve talked to seems to think of them as some sort of invincible jugganuat that we can’t beat 1v1 and shouldn’t even try fighting xD, witch is completely false

Since you are on Guardians sub-forum. I will start with, a lot of people confuse Warriors survival-ability with Guardians, since they both use heavy armor.

I suppose this is somewhat true, but guardians survival mainly comes through dodging heals and blocks, and various other things, we can’t quite face tank as we’ll as warriors can

I don’t really understand what they was going for with the new traits ethier, we’ll i do, but they seem to have no idea how it synergises (is that the right word?:l) with the other trait lines, but the answer to this is simple, don’t use the new traits, so we have no new tools to mess about with like the other professions, I still feel effective without them, as I stated before, overall I’m happy with the changes, not just with guardians, but every profession

To be fair, it’s a good thing they don’t listen to most of the complaints on this forum site as too many of them are myopic and balance the game around themselves. Problem is when people start passing their experiences off as fact, and thus stuff contradicts. Who do you follow anyways? Of course, the people that know what they’re talking about. Of course, that’s another problem— how do you judge that?

And it requires knowledge of more than one class too. For example, can a necromancer complain that their previous GM trait dhumfire was weak, because engineers can get the same effect on a master level trait? No. But if you had no idea about either class, then you’d say a lot of crap that should be rightfully ignored. And I see a lot of that when people make comparison. They have no idea about the other class they’re talking about— or the one they’re actually playing.

Anet DOES listen to complaints. Just not most of them. I am dead certain the Death Magic tree renovation for the necromancer was almost completely player inspired. (It got revamped just yesterday). But that took ages, and the effect was wonderful. The class is still garbage in pve though, so sometimes I sort of have to laugh when people always claim the grass is greener on the other side.

Yer aha, I use “swift Moa feather” in the place of oil, only 30s off the tp, vital when roaming tbh, if not next option would be to leap of faith away, or target a mob and port :P

Try running the 0/0/30/20/20 med build, make sure you dodge the eviscerate and keep a stun breaker free drop purity for merciful intervention for the extra 2k heal, if there running axe burst as many are now and the signet that makes move unblock able save renewed focus until they pop, there usually try to burst then, just go invun and kite best you can, it’s a hard fight buts it’s winnable now,

Guardian hasn’t been nerfed, at-least from a wvw perspective (the only one I can provide), guardians are actually in a better position in wvw now, yes we got kitten all this recent content update, all the new traits are useless, but every other profession has been brought down onto level playing field, warriors are new beatable, as are engineers etc etc, to me, the game feels a lot more balanced, and overall I’m happy with the changes, there’s always going to be some issues, as with every profession, but overall I’m happy, and ain’t feeling this nerf everyone keeps mentioning

There is quite a wide range of options viable now, I’m not sure about the top dps, but I run a mix of solider and zerker gear and have found wurm runes to be the best for me now

I also run runes of the wurm now, for the extra vitality and damage, I would go exuberance, if it went for the fact I can’t afford them

0/0/30/20/20 take the virtue of resolve buff, it will remove 3 conditions, with renewed focus, that’s 6 extra conidition removal, run gs/sword focus, take greatsword mastery thing to lessen attacks by 20% and aegis heal on removal, for last tree we’ll as said resolve trait and retaliation when stunned, being working great for me, sorry I’m not at my computer ATM and can’t remember the names, feel free to /w in game tho when I’m on :P, builds been working great for me in duels with a mix of zerker and soldier, again sorry I couldn’t be more specific at the moment :P

Im going to have a mess around on a condition build tonight, I’ll let you know how it gose, earlier today I was roaming with spirit weapons, using the burn on Crit trait with it, and it was actually pretty decent, it’s just not my play style, but I could see it being viable, warriors was pretty easy using it, god I love being able to change traits before duels now aha

From a roamers point of view I feel things have only gotten better for us, for me I find none of the new traits viable, but the rune improvement and the extra gs sigil is a plus, and with The changes, other professions have become more balanced In my opinion, after a lot of duels yesterday I am happy with the changes and feel I’m a lot stronger roamer then I was before, purely for the fact other proffesions are more balanced now, I think for once anet got something to work as intended, despite the negative attitudes I’ve heard towards the patch, just my opinion tho

So what’s your guys thoughts on the patch? Personally I don’t feel alot has changed for guardians, I switched my dvinity runes for wurm runes and I now have more hp and more attack, with my extra sigil of force on greatsword to, it actually feels like I’m doing more damage, and my usual 0/0/30/20/20 meditation build is working great for roaming, warriors are more of a balanced fight now, as are engineers, but, what’s your guys thoughts on the patch?

I i did do some spvp, I just found it painful while not being so skilled on mesmer, where as in wvw there’s always that route for escape if needed. Less so in spvp, I also main a guardian what I mainly use in tpvp, it’s a big difference to get used to aha, where as in wvw, I’m already pretty capable of escaping and setting shatters up

Thanks a lot for both your replies they helped a lot, I’ll give your suggestion a try. And mess about making my traits fit my play style, the main reason I asked this question was because i hate grinding gold, so trying stuff out, and replacing stuff is abit of a pain, and i learned with my guard stats on paper don’t always work as effectively as you think, I don’t get a lot of time to play nowdays anyway, I’ll be happy when I can log on and just enjoy some roaming with no grind aha, thanks again

Hello my Mesmer friends, this is my first post on the forums so I hope I posted it right, but anyway to the topic at hand, I’ve recently levelled a mesmer for wvw roaming, I initially intended to go with a condition build. But after trying it I was extremely disappointed with the damage output, (maybe it was just me), so now after watching vash’s videos on youtube I’ve decided I’m gonna try going shatter mesmer, I love the high risk high reward play style, now here Lyes the problem, I absolutely love my staff, them chaos armor prove and phase retreat just turn me on aha, so would it be viable to run staff/gs on an average 20/20/0/0/30 build? Or perhaps even vash’s 10/30/0/0/30 build?, I understand the skill cap is high for shatter mesmer and being new to mesmers having such low hp and armor is certain to lead to many frustrating deaths, would it be viable to swap some trinkets out for my Valkyrie or something of the sort to increases survival but still have viable damage? Thank you for any help in advance.
