Hammer Guard? MEET HAMMER NECRO

I believe that most balance issues that exist could be corrected by adding new weapons for individual professions. It has been said that Necromancers have too few options for active defense. This could be tastefully changed by adding shields to the necro weapon lineup. Imagine a mechanic where the necromancer blocks and steals life (or gains lifeforce) from the opponent whose attacks are blocked. This would also be a good place to add some easy-access stability.
Of course, necros use axes, daggers, and spears in a totally nonsence fashion, so there is no telling what one might do with a hammer. (Fighting in this game was never exactly realistic, but at least warriors and rangers actually hit people with their axes.)
Probably coats the weapon in undead vampire moths and then throws it like a boomerang.

In my own experience, necrominion AI bugs occur…

Often in WvW,
Sometimes in PvE,
and rarely in PvP.

This leads me to theorize that there is a trend between high player population and the frequency at which AI bugs occur. This could be similar to how spamming AOE damage causes lag.

did you perhaps use “deposit materials” and place them in the materials tab on the bank? They do not show up at the vendor if they are deposited.

Argh. Yeah that totally fooled me too. I didn’t think of them as crafting materials, so I never thought they would be deposited as such.

I don’t really see what the difference is. I was trapped in an area that isn’t properly accessible.
Also, I didn’t survive the fall. I was killed, waited a few seconds, and then spawned down there.
I ran around attacking the wurms, doing no damage. It took them about a minute to start reacting to my presence in spite of my molesting them. As a result, I spent some significant time out of the match.

I guess I should include that I was punted off the edge and did die in the fall, but that doesn’t really excuse respawning anywhere but one’s team base.

So, I was playing Skyhammer, as it has been known to happen I died, and then this happened. Equal parts funny and inconvenient, I’d say.

So many great ideas here!
Naturally, I posted this already having my own ideas for what I would include. I was thinking…

Gangnam Style, because it clearly sells.

Conga line, because that is exactly what every social game needs. (Also, I’d love to see an inappropriately timed Conga line breaking out in the middle of a Tequatl fight.)

And finally, the Haruhi Suzumiya dance. I’ve never even seen the show, but I don’t think I could resist including this on account of the fangasming and rage it would cause in those with strong feelings about it. Besides, if you got a group of Charr doing this, I think I would die laughing. (Call it the “Charruhi Suzumiya”.)

Charleston

Kudos to you, Donari, for remembering the Charleston. That is such a great idea, I would happily cut out one of my own lineup to make room for it.

Can Guardians do 1v1?

in Guardian

Nox Lucis.8341

I have been considering making my 1st guardian, yet there is something I would like to have cleared up for me. Every time I have an even 1v1 with a guardian (even as in no one getting jumped while at partial heath) I win handily in both PvP and WvW easily over 90% of the time. This is definitely not the case when I face other professions (Thieves and engies especially), and it has come to the point that a guardian without a buddy looks like easy prey to me in competitive. Now, I’ve seen the magnitude of what guards can do in a zerg, a dungeon or other group PvE, so I definitely don’t see them as underpowered.
So, is there a build and/or play style that gives guards strong 1v1 power, or is that just not an approach they can take to competitive? Or are they actually strong in 1v1 and I’ve just encountered all the sorry ones in all my months of play? I’m just looking for the right mentality to take to using this profession in competitive.
(I’ve been playing necro, if that helps.)

I always thought Charr look more kitten as Necromancer compared to humans. Because of that, I made a second necromancer with my charr.

I don’t know about changing the way the player models run, but I certainly have always thought it odd how the NPC Charr and the player Charr do not use the same OOC running animation. It is probably too little a detail to be worth committing time to, but it does make me curious about what brought about this choice in design. I wonder if anyone communicating for ANet right now knows the answer?

Oh, I think everyone here likely already knows all the rules. I just say Rox because I don’t see too much evidence of pulses rising for Torga Desertgrave.

Also, if you know anything on this, don’t tell me. Please. )

You don’t need to have explicit sexualized bodies to have kinky fanservice for a beastfolk race.

Uh-oh…
Dare I inquire…?
Actually, I think I get it. Looking for GW2 fan content in the past (typically humor and parody, but the internet is a mixed bag), I’ve seen that some fans really must have the hots for Rox. Some men like their women strong, some like them big, some like them hairy, and some like flat chests. I guess it only follows that some men like their women Charr. I suppose I shouldn’t judge if Rox is your fantasy dream girl.

I love reading all your responses! Looks like a lot of you were itching to play as Charr since the first Guild Wars. I notice it seems that the lack of kinky fanservice in a beastfolk race has been a major selling point for a lot of people. Sounds like beast-boobs in fantasy gaming may have overstayed its welcome.

After reading this, I decided to go back to PvP after a month’s absence from the scene. Played 3 matches with my Necro, won each time and was the overall top scorer twice. My win/loss ratio (which is entirely on Necro; it is all I use in PvP) is still overwhelmingly positive as always. I look at this, and all I can think is “Wutchu talkin’ ’bout?”

This appears to never have been properly implemented in the game. Halloween would be an excellent time to make this acquirable. I’m sure dagger using Necromancers everywhere would be rushing to get it.

GW2 was my first experience with an MMORPG. Additionally, I had no experience or knowledge of the original GW. So when it came time to make my first Character, I was met with an unconventional lot of fantasy creatures (no elves or orcs here). Initially uncertain, I began to follow process of elimination, and it went something like this…

Human: “What is the point of a fantasy setting if I am just going to be a mundane human?”
Norn: “A human by any other name…”
Sylvari: “You won’t catch me looking like a pansy.”
Asura: (Sees strange little creature with huge, bulging, terrifying eyes staring…) “NOPE”

With one race remaining, and the description making them seem like a cheesy, obligatory “villain race” incapable of the civil yet deviously cunning behavior I’d like to see on account of some chronic “warrior race” brutality, I set out to do a little more research. (That, and their appearance invoked some uncomfortable memories relating to images I regrettably saw while curiously researching you-know-which fandom years back.)
What I found was pleasantly surprising. “Orderly, technologically advanced society… Government in pursuit of peace with their oldest enemy… That remarkable, tasteful rarity of a female model that wasn’t made to be deliberate fetish material… OMG, EVERYONE GETS A FREE BAZOOKA?!? SIGN ME UP!” (Because no one expects a necromancer with a bazooka.)

Since then, I have come to respect the special place humanity has in the lore, I can now take the Sylvari seriously, and I find Asura less creepy than I initially did. The Charr, however, have developed into my true favorite race with their unique brand of hairy quasi-streampunk awesomeness (Chat filter turned how I actually wanted to phrase that into a pet shop window.). Making choices like “Ash Legion” and “Durmand Priory” still allow me to be that dangerous-yet-intellectual character I’d like to see.

Was Charr also your first choice for race; your favorite? Tell everyone what made you decide to be a part of the High Legions.

It is interesting how the Charr are discussed as being a “barbaric” race, yet it is the humans who wear the hides of their enemies.
