I have found that mice with a large amount of buttons are pretty useles – and not very comfortable. So I am going the opposite way, lol. I use a Steelseries 6Gv2 as keyboard (black Cherry MX ftw) and a Steelseries WoW Cataclysm mouse. Lots of buttons on the mouse, 90% of them useless and in the way of my fingers. I only use the two thumb buttons. Going to change the aging mouse to something simpler. Func MS-3 if I want the palm shape (its so perfect for my hand and actually different to Mionix/SS Cata/all the other mouse with similar mold) or a Deathadder 2013. Probably the later for a change in style.
that’s why i’m looking for the Naga Hex with 6 side buttons and not the original Naga with 12. All weapon skills and healing skill mapped to mouse and F1-F4/elite skill/utilities to KB. I think this could be perfect, but dunno, would like to hear from some1 using it
The ones that came with my PC lol, these cheap microsoft ones.
ewwwww c’mon now lol
Every day there’s more and more people are disappointed with this game but anet does nothing to change the situation, i mean why would they care about hundreds upon hundreds complaints?
“more and more people” want to prove it?
It’s obvious that there are more people happy with the game then disappointed by it, otherwise the number of people playing wouldn’t grow and we would see server merges. To the OP – when rerolling take a breather and create your character calmly, there’s no rush. Maybe reroll as a different race, because those have their own starting zones and different personal stories, it might make it kitten ring to you. If you want money and levels just reaching 100% map completion is easier, and your personal story does describe things, you just need to listen
i don’t need to. you visit this forum often enough, i’m sure you noticed.
Pretty much this and only thing. MMO standards when it comes to story are as low as it gets in the gaming industry.
I’ve seen worse genres for story. Heck, there was once a time when story was not at all important to the game; I should know, I lived through it. I really don’t quite know WHEN it was decided in the west to focus on story in games . . .
I have a hard time calling the writing worse than GW1 though. I think the personal story is, actually, a smidge better than Prophecies (from Pre-Searing to Hell’s Precipice; the post-campaign material is much improved) . . . in that while you can see a lot coming, it’s not quite feeling like four stories strung together at the ends to make a whole. It feels weak, but it does feel like one story.
Which genre has worst story telling? The only i could think of is sports games lol which have no story at all.
As much as i want acc bound dyes and that’s not happening because gods knows wtf anet is thinking
I’m currently using Sidewinder x6 for KB and Deathadder Black for mice. Was thinking of getting a Razer Naga Hex. I don’t want the original Naga with a keyboard amount of buttons on the side of the mouse and prefer the six buttons of the Hex. Anyone is using it for gw2? How does it fare?
Every day there’s more and more people are disappointed with this game but anet does nothing to change the situation, i mean why would they care about hundreds upon hundreds complaints?
This is common in the MMO genre.
The story telling is terrible. Characters have no emotion, no personality and no history. Therefore players don’t care about them. Stories are told through characters. If the audience doesn’t care about the characters then they won’t care about the story.
Pretty much this and only thing. MMO standards when it comes to story are as low as it gets in the gaming industry.
Well the Chinese trailer gives a complete wrong image of the game so I’m actually glad we didn’t have one like that. They basically only show the cool world boss appearance animations, but not the boring 10-minute autoattack fest that starts 5 seconds later.
That’s for their expansion Chinese trailer.
Guild Wars 2 in two years: Buy fully leveled 80 character for ONLY 6000 gems.
So, since Vengeful Images and Illusionists Celerity nerf you’re still rocking dat 25 points in Inspiration for that 15% additional damage
Traited focus, faster glamour cooldowns and longer glamour durations. If you don’t understand why I am doing this then you don’t know what a mesmer is used in dungeons for.
Oh no, you certainly not need DE even in a shatter build cuz dungeons meta don’t use it.
Again, why do I need DE in a phantasm build? And you didn’t tell me why I would be using iLeap, Mirror Blade, Phase Retreat or Decoy in dungeons, they’re all bad for dungeons.
I want you to do a lev48 fotm with me because what you’re saying about dungeons “i don’t use this and that” is so ridiculous its like talking to a person who’ve never step foot in one. You even think a leap back from iSwordsman will save it LOL
Well if I actually had the AR on my character and was able to access a computer I could play gw2 on, sure.
Also, if you’re going to be arrogant at least do us all a favour and know what you’re talking about.
I was considering taking DE due to compounding power. Someone told me that if the initial three illusions up are phantasms, they won’t count for the trait, they apparently must be clones (such as ones from DE or Illusionary Leap). If what people told me is true, then DE is a pretty good investment.
That of course depends if you run 10 in illusions or not. Personally I run 10/30/0/20/10, I dont think 30 in inspiration makes sense in the slightest.
Ignore Illusion tree completely on a phantasm build (btw what the guy told you is false and Compounding Power is only for your shatter/attacks, not your illusions). What do you gain by investing 10 points in Illusions? You get Illusionary Retribution which is 1000% useless, you get Compounding Power that would’ve been very good for a phantasm build if that 9% went into phantasms damage as well, its not. Then you get faster CD on shatter which is again, useless and 100 more condi damage which is decent if you have iDuelist/sharper images but nothing to brag about. If you invest into Dueling you get higher precision for more crit hits for you AND all your illusions, higher crit damage which you and your phantasms share, perma Vigor, Phantasmal Fury which again, increases your phantasm damage and significantly, Sharper Images which doesn’t need any explanation and DE which you can use as a shield for ranged none piercing attacks, spawn clones to deal at least some kind of damage if your phantasms are dead from aoe or combine it with a trait such as Debilitating Dissipation for the extra Weakness/condi damage. there’s no reason to spend point in illusion for a phantasm build since they nerfed IC.
It’s not for a phantasm build. It’s for the 9% base damage modifier you get when you have 3 illusions up (3% per illusion). it has nothing to do with the damage from illusions/phantasms/etc, its to do with my own personal damage. Main concept behind it is to make reflects hit as hard as possible (I only really do Arah)
that’s what i said, it only applies to you and not your illusions-.-. Its good if you’re not pure phantasm build.
Well, i got Lord Thaeres’s Shadow, Mecha Anchor, Rockweed Spire and Scepter of the Highborn all from same 6 champ farm in Frostgorge so if you’re looking for any of the skins above i can confirm they drop there (fish, kodan, norn, worm, drake, troll farm chain)
That’s why i don’t know a single sane person who enjoyed the campaign. I skipped every single cutsceen because dialogue made my ears bleed, voice acting made my brain explode and cutsceens themselves were eye exploding. ‘kiddy’ is the category i’d class gw2’s story. A young kid may enjoy it or an old person who’s tired of everything and actually want the stupid goofiness but not your average gamer who bought this game to play it daily.
What they should do is add a couple of skins every update, make all champs scale to a level where they’re actually challenging and increase drop rate of these skins a little bit. Give grind for those who enjoy it and everyone is happy. And for the love of gawd, anet… can you please make a good looking staff? Why is it that every single staff in gw2 is meh looking or completely ugly? Is this your goal? Release trench coats as the only medium armor, release ugly stakitten and concentrate your magic into GS skins? Why is it that GS’s looks boatload better than any weapons in game?
It eats your real life money AND in game money. Best Salvage kit invented by mankind.
I find it useful and convenient so those two factors don’t bother me. I’d rather do without the sound effects though but at least they are only every 10-15 seconds or so.
You received 1 million mystic stones from AP for mystic salvage kits and you call this overpriced crap useful?
It is useful in the sense that you no longer need to remember to ever buy a basic kit ever again. You also don’t need to carry multiple basic kits with you either (for those long farming runs).
This is called “convenience”, and convenience is useful. Convenience is also rarely profitable, so the fact that this kit technically is profitable (granted, over such a long period of time that it isn’t likely to be profitable) makes it ever so slightly more useful.
The question is not whether it is useful, the question is whether you value the convenience enough to warrant a purchase.
You appear to not. I also do not. Some players do. Those players will be funding the game this time around and you and I will to play for free because of it. The next item may wind up being our turn to fund the game. Who knows?
But how is buying a salvage kit or mining tool a problem or annoyance? You’re visiting a merch to sell your crap constantly… If its too hard for some1 to double click and buy a new salvage kit/mining tool, that’s extremely lazyness and its not like anet is selling them for cheap, they’re charging $10… If you bought the kit and all three mining tools that’s $40, enough to buy another copy of the game. This kit is even more useless than perma mining tools were and that is saying a lot.
and as always, threads are moved and now mesmer’s conversation makes no sense, thanks mods.

I’m not trying to be arrogant with you, i gave you tones of reasons why shatter is better than phantasm builds in pve and told you why DE is good even in a pure phantasm build but you’re too stubborn to agree with facts here because you’ve seen some video from a ‘known’ guy in the community who posted a video and told you how to play and what to use. At least give me reasonable points why you think DE is bad in a phantasm build, not “i don’t use iLeap/Decoy and all other skills that overwrite phantasm”. If you haven’t even tried lev48 (or at least 30 cuz that’s where phantasm builds become real crap) i don’t think you should be suggesting or telling others phantasm builds are good for dungeons because you probably haven’t even played any challenging ones. You, without DE in lev30 fotm and Arah to some extent is a mesmer without illusions, simple as that, and if you think that’s fine, then fine, don’t use DE.
Firstly, why would I use iLeap, Mirror Blade, Phase Retreat or Decoy in a dungeon? Using leap means I miss out on an extra autoattack, greatsword is bad in dungeons, staff is terrible in dungeons and I’ve never found a reason to use Decoy in one either.
Not only that but you could spec 30 in Chaos for Prismatic Understanding and have Debilitating Dissipation for even more pressure from your clone overrides that
Or I could trait 30 in inspiration for phantasms that hit harder and actual useful traits like warden’s feedback which make mobs die faster.
I’ll ask again, since you keep talking about shatter builds, why would I use DE in a phantasm build?
So, since Vengeful Images and Illusionists Celerity nerf you’re still rocking dat 25 points in Inspiration for that 15% additional damage when its absolutely not needed and better options are available to you? Oh no, you certainly not need DE even in a shatter build cuz dungeons meta don’t use it.
I want you to do a lev48 fotm with me because what you’re saying about dungeons “i don’t use this and that” is so ridiculous its like talking to a person who’ve never step foot in one. You even think a leap back from iSwordsman will save it LOL
(edited by Nuka Cola.8520)
so i’m guessing you run a phantasm build, send your phantasms, they get instantly destroyed and here comes the auto attack spam? Dungeons is one of the places DE shines the most because there’s tones of enemies and they mostly have high damage to 1-2 shot your phantasms.
Sure, my duelist which is spawned at range is instantly destroyed. My swordsman which leaps in then leaps out is instantly destroyed. My warden reflecting projectiles is instantly destroyed. Oh wait, it’s not. The only reason you want DE is shatter spam, and you won’t be shattering often on phantasm builds.
@coley. I’d agree with you if this game been released like 1-2 months ago and you didn’t have enough time to learn everything there is to learn about a certain class or if this game had over 1k skills and build variation was actually there. But this is not the case. I’m not a person who has 8 alts at lev80 and play them all, i stick to two classes and don’t care about the rest, so everything there is to know, i know and some1’s build won’t help or change anything. If this game received many new traits/weapons/skills that’s another story because some1 could come up with something good before i or someone else does, but we’re stuck with the same crap for one year, nothing new or fresh is coming any time soon.
The problem here, is all I’m seeing is “I’m right because I am” when you’re not. And you apparently don’t know everything about mesmer because you think everyone used deceptive evasion when overriding your phantasms is the last thing a phantasm mesmer wants to do.
Again, you’re wrong. You will be overriding phantasms with iLeap/Mirror Blade/Phase Retreat/Decoy and of these skills anyways so if you’re seriously not using DE for that reason that’s just funny. Not only that but you could spec 30 in Chaos for Prismatic Understanding and have Debilitating Dissipation for even more pressure from your clone overrides that could be from a phantasm or DE.
Valor is just a really good trait line. That’s ok. Most classes have “mandatory” traits as well. The important part is to have some variation.
And altruistic healing is far from mandatory. I’d say AH is only mandatory for defensive shout builds. Meditation builds use Monk’s focus, for example.
This is precisely where anet failed with their trait system. If there’s a mandatory traits and we only have so many trait points to spend, you know build diversity will be bad.
A target that doesn’t even move isn’t in need of love but a deletion.

If you don’t use DE in dungeons you’re a garbage mesmer, just sayin. Do you even play dungeons?
Best lolz of the day.

No, not everyone uses deceptive evasion on mesmer.
Same could be said about Empathic Bond, is it the majority? a slim 30%? No. Almost everyone uses it for almost every build and when you don’kittens for one or two builds. You enjoy doing poorer because you don’t use best available traits for certain class, gg for you, doesn’t mean normal people don’t use them. and if you think your one phantasm build not using DE comes even close the amount of players using DE, you’re just playing another game or something.
Dungeon meta builds don’t use deceptive evasion as far as I know because there’s literally no need for it. Also, if you check the thread with Pyroatheists’ “overpowered pvp phantasm build” it doesn’t use it either.
Do you have a problem with me? You’re being quite antagonistic.
No problem at all. But why do you follow what some guy said or from what was shown in a youtube video? Do you play your class or what… If you don’t use DE in dungeons you’re a garbage mesmer, just sayin. Do you even play dungeons? How can you say “Dungeon meta builds don’t use deceptive evasion as far as I know”? There’s no ‘meta’, this is not spvp, stop following what some1 said and think for yourself. I don’t need to watch some1’s video/build to tell me what’s good and what’s bad, i’ve played enough mez ty come again.
Almost every class has this same problem. Everyone uses Deceptive Evasion on mez (20 points permanently spent), everyone uses Empathic Bond (30 points) on ranger and so on. Their trait system is ridiculously poorly built and its about time they admit it and rework it completely instead of spending time on creating musical instruments for 800 gems each…
Unless you are in PVP, Empathic Bond isn’t very useful, in fact it’s terrible compared to many other traits. I’ve never EVER used it, nor I seen any Rangers that do high end dungeons, Arah and Fotm 60+ use it. It’s useless in the recent Gauntlet content too.
No clue about Deceptive Evasion as my Mesmer is a lowbie.
Well i’ll tell you about DE. The whole reason why mesmers are a pain to level is this exact trait. The second you unlock it is the time when mesmers aren’t a pain to level anymore. This is the most important trait available to mez and not because some guy who uses a 1v1 phantasm build without it means the large majority of mesmer players not using it. I was more referring to wvw/pvp when talking about EB but hey, even LB is viable in pve so any traits would do fine there, not like you’ll be getting condis constantly.
Why do people always forget this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjCehYrEbO0
by rewatching this trailer one thing i noticed is that night actually looked like night and not darkish day.

I call this epic…
this looks above decent and music helped. Their China gw2 trailer was crap with poor music.

Stealth in this game is like perma shadow form as assassin in gw1 before nerf and that took them YEARS to nerf. So expect stealth cheese until at least 2015
Neither require all that much skill and both have the same failing of purposely favoring high end computers, fast net connection, and proximity to servers.
The clock tower would lag to the point of being dead before loading.
Liandri’s Shadow Fall has killed me many times while I see my toon a safe distance from the red circles. Not to mention the fps absolutely tanking when the Zerg moves under your arena.
Requiring high monetary output for maxed gaming machine, highest possible net speed and possible global move is not a casual game and flys in the face of the manifesto once again.
Are you playing on a potato? How can you die before loading on the JP? fps on that thing was silky smooth, its on liadri they’ve made a mess.
honestly i want a whip for the mesmer.i see it all the time in pve on npc’s and a whip would match the mesmer perfectly.
Even if they add it, its probably gonna be a 600 range weapon so meh
Personally, I think Mesmers are built to be mid-range fighters who jump in and out of long/medium/short range. I think a 600 range weapon wouldn’t be that bad considering we have a Greatsword for long range.
We already have a good MH close range weapon, the sword. We have nothing for ranged MH, that’s why a pistol (and hopefully its not sucky like scepter) with 900 range would be better as the first added weapon, then they could expand with with a whip. Would also like to have a rifle, magic rifles would fit mesmers nicely me think
Blast Finisher is what anet forgot to add to Mind Stab.
honestly i want a whip for the mesmer.i see it all the time in pve on npc’s and a whip would match the mesmer perfectly.
Even if they add it, its probably gonna be a 600 range weapon so meh
Would be great and since ranger traits need an overhaul this is a great start since everyone use SA
you know the person who came up with the idea of current stealth is an immature when it comes to inventing a new mechanic. You don’t build something that has no counters and no, spamming aoe isn’t one…
31, hate spvp and play like once or twice per week. Never even tried payed/free tourney or the current team/solo q, all i played is the boring hotjoin
Am i the only one who cannot stand their Living Story crap? Absolutely nothing, not a single thing came from it and was enjoyable. Do i want this to last for the years to come? Nooooooo. I want it to die and be forgotten.
liadri is harder because fps amd camera angles are inacceptable. Took me about one hour n a half to beat the tower jumping puzzle, tried liadri ~20 times and stopped because i can’t handle a fight like that in 20fps and camera that zooms on my character * constantly. Anet, learn to create challenging content instead of adding gimmicks that messes up our vision (seen in the jumping puzzle and liadri) and unplayble fps. Since fps isn’t getting better and reward is just an ugly mini with 20 achievement points i won’t even bother on her again. I loved the idea of an arena tho. It would be great if we had a large arena with 60fps, better camera cuz it would be much larger arena and you fight against harder n harder foes, can also do it in a team of 2. <——- i want this!
Storm spirit should scale with power. That might be nerf enough. It is the same reason BM was nerfed, 3k+ damage on a bunker is not ok.
3k+ on a crit hit… and its 3k damage per 20sec, how is this OP? On BM you had tones of dps on jags constantly with condis. here we only have condis.
Are people judging spirit rangers because its very strong for 1v1 or for what they bring to the whole team? Cuz if you’re saying spirit rangers are broken because you fail to win against one in a 1v1 that’s a fail assumption. A mesmer, engi, thief can be very powerful for 1v1’s so what? The problem with a ranger is the fact that they’re good for 1v1 and bring tones of things to your whole group such as protection/burning/3 rezes/condi removal. Its what they bring to the whole group that should be looked at, not how they fare in a 1v1
of course it would be fun, how we didn’t get a single one in 1 year is a mystery tho
Looks like I am going to go from 20 frames in PvE to 5 thanks to this new feature.
Stop playing this game on a toaster maybe ?
Nearly spit my coffee all over the screen LOL
hah that was good, i would use a potato instead of a toaster but still guuud
I beg to differ. Yesterday we defeated a team that had 4 spirit rangers and we only got 3! It’s possible!
Just remove that grandmaster trait in PvP which allowes your spirits to follow you. This way it’s good for bunkering and maybe people won’t stack it.
Spirits would just not be used then.
Also why do people seem to think Spirit rangers have good mobility? We are pretty much on the same level as Necros unless you take some bad weapon choices.
You don’t swap for warhorn when needed and use sword 2 leaps for mobility?
This item is account bound and costs 800 gems to purchase. It costs 3 copper per salvage and does (not – sorry I don’t know how to put lines through words) recover any upgrades from armor and weapons (it does recover upgrades, the gemstore description is wrong). . 10% chance to recover rare crafting mats and 20% chance to recover upgrades.
