Food and sigils that build up to 25 stacks of condi damage/power damage weren’t usable in wvw? I know i know, most will say its the worst idea NA but remember what anet almost did (or will do in the future i don’t even know) to aoe? If we couldn’t have insane condi damage/duration and huge bursts from power builds with food/stacking sigils, i don’t think aoe nerf would ever be mentioned because everyone would deal moderate damage.

So lets say spirits are OP. What exactly could be done about them (excluding spirit of nature because it is OP)? The absolute only thing i could think of is make spirits more selfish. Instead of giving their effects to whole group, it only applies to you and your pet. They can also add a new grandmaster trait that does what spirits currently do, effects applied to your whole team in range. If they increase CD/decrease their HP/decrease condi and boon durations it will only make your 30 trait points spent for spirits useless and we’re back when spirits were a joke.

Nuka, the guy is going on saying that others were “disrespectful” and “rude” to him. It wasnt a “he got killed so he yelled kitten” sort of thing, this was a spat between two players and he took it too far and started slinging curses. Also you can’t really link saying/thinking a curse to actually typing. Typing takes alot more effort then talking/thinking.
Also just because they go in perfect harmony with you, doesn’t mean it does with others. I can be playing CoD or something and die and be fine, I could have a high K/D or w/e and be alright, yet if my brother plays he screams and yells at the slightest lag/death…some people need to control them selfs more. Its a game yes, but losing control to that extent is silly (See the kid that got arrested for going on a facebook “rant” after losing a LoL match)

Why do you even bring jungle Troll (a white mini) 8 years after the mini’s release (or whatever long ~~~ time its been out)? Of course it’ll be cheap and no one wants it but that wasn’t the case when the pet was first introduced. Almost all bday yellow and all green minis were worth over 100k when first added and with time they decrease in price ‘duh’. Even if you’re unlucky and got a a white mini, you can always make 40g+. What can you make from one generic Acc Bound mini that EVERYONE playing for 1y has? I know, i know!!! Store it in storage and forget it existed… Be hyped for dat scroll and a boosted because i certainly am, buying a cake/champagne and celebrating the ~~~~ out of this so wanted boosted and xp scroll!
Don’t care about the specifics of what mini cost what, I literally had a baker’s dozen of Jungle Trolls at one point and nobody to buy them. So what if the gold/green minis were heckuva valuable commodity? That’s because there were only so many and for most people they only got those for shelling out the cash or being lucky.

Everything is about loot and money and gold to some people. And I see that is the major problem faced by this entire genre. As long as that’s the focus, these games will be and remain meaningless.
In Guild Wars 1, your main way to get minis was birthday gifts. That was it. Here, there are tons of ways to get minis, including the gem shop. So if you have minis you could have been selling them for an entire year.
What would one more birthday gift even mean?

So, if set to the highest you’ll be playing the game in 20fps and when set to lowest you’ll have what you currently do? I don’t see the point here… I hate culling as much as a person can (reminds me of ps2 era lolz) but if it makes me lose fps in already pathetically optimized game, i just don’t know if i should be happy for end of culling. If and that’s a big IF, they manage to remove culling for general pve and only lose a little more fps during large events then that’s very good news and i may even fishing mapping the 34% of the map left, but if it **** my fps, then that’s pretty sad.

wow i just noticed its a thread i posted in 4 months ago and said shatter>phanta without really giving any reason and made lots of people rage… Why do some require a youtube video or a long ~~~ explanation for why X is better than Y? Don’t you know your class by now? in 11 months you should know what’s good/bad and weaknesses of each build…

If you have a guardian, had an empty room, you could’ve made over 30g/h yesterday (i don’t know what was changed since patch so dunno if its still possible and as easy).

In a phantasm build you shatter if you know your phantasms are about to bite the dust or as extra burst against some boss you’re trying to kill asap (provided it actually increases your DPS, with a fast recharging phantasm like swordsman it might not be worth it) so that you actually get something out of them rather than them just dying.
You still haven’t given a convincing argument for confusion either, it’s atrocious in PvE.
In my personal shatter build i have 360 condi damage without including all the Might stacks i’ll be getting from SS and four stacks of confusion from 3 illusions/IP/Mind Wrack is enough to deal a little over 1k. Is 1k aoe (could be more if they attack twice in that 3sec) a lot? No, its not, but as i stated multiple times its “free damage”, not your focus. and you don’t just shatter because one phantasm of the two or three (if you happen to have that many lol) is about to bite the dust… You only shatter to end the last enemy at ~5% HP or moving to another target… I also would like to ask you, why do you always bring iSwordsman to the conversation? not only he’s pathetic for pve because of none existent aoe but weren’t you running iWarden? If you run both then what do you use as MH other than sword, a LOLpter (scepter)? Not because iSwordsman has low refresh on attacks thakittens good everywhere and is automatically amazing and worth running because it attacks every 3sec.

Will only talk about the last point cuz its kinda funny. So you shatter in a phantasm build without Mental Torment/Shattered Concentration/DE/Dazzling/Illusionary Distribution/Compounding Power/precise Wrack/Shattered Strength/IP/IC? That’s the thing you seem to not understand… When you run a phantasm build, you run phantasms and may only shatter to finish off a target, not spam shatter just because its available. In a shatter build there’s no restrictions, you spam your phantasms as they were clones, clones that deal good aoe damage then shatter after first attack (depends on the situation) and always have three illusions up at all time (because with DE/IC and Mirror Images that isn’t a problem). Okay im done, keep using phantasms and in a year or two, when you’ve actually done enough half challenging pve and played your mesmer enough you’ll understand what i’m talking about.

I gave you examples of condi removal. Null field works fine, but against dredges in that fractal you’re just going to be LoSing, camping reflects and DPSing them down, so feedback, wall of reflection (guardian) and phantasmal warden are solid there along with the warden actually dealing damage in addition to reflecting.
And i can’t have null field/feedback on a shatter build? Don’t bring guardians to the subjects cuz their walls are obviously good and no one said anything otherwise. iwarden will die after its first attack because they don’t just range but deal tones of melee damage as well, then you use your izerker, it does good aoe damage and dies. Now you’re stuck with zero phantasms (making all your phantasms traits worthless) and nothing else but some utilities/auto attacks. And please don’t tell me “my iwarden never dies” and other crap like that because its absolutely not true and at lev48 it doesn’t just die, it gets destroyed. Also, how are you helping your team dps with blurred frenzy (which i also have on shatter if i wanted to) and auto attacks, attacking foes with regeneration/protection? Even if you use Null Field and strip them, you will never be able to keep up because they spam boons. So instead of stripping boons to maximize whole team damage, inflict aoe free damage from confusion, dealing solid damage which is all in aoe, you’re using 2 phantasms per 20-25sec which die 70% of the times after their initial attack and spam your auto’s? I swear this forum sometimes-.-

They are on par with GW1 We just got minis or tunics in GW1. This is actually better as we get a booster and a Scroll of Experience.

Okay okay i guess i’ll have to tell you why i think this build sucks… 1) you have Sword MH on both sets. 2) Since phantasm HP increase and sig of illusion significant HP decrease its not worth running EVEN in a pure phantasm build, take Veil for more stealth cheesing, Phatasmal Defender, Mantra of Resolve or even dat sig of domination for the 3sec stun so iDuelists can land all their bleeds/damage. It always depends against who you’re playing against so if its a condi engi/necro mantra of resolve is more useful, if its another mesmer i’d go with Veil and so on.
You have 15 points in Domination~ Dazzling has no use for a phantasm build (especially yours), 10 points is enough. Dueling~ Don’t have Phanta Fury in a build fully focused on phantasms and i also prefer having DE even in a phantasm build so ‘if’ my phantasms are dead from aoe (engi nades for example), i can always hide behind them as a shield for ranged/none piercing attacks, but this is just a preference, you do what you want. I always ran 25 in inspiration like a nab for dat 15% additional phantasm damage when running a phant build (before IC nerf) but its NOT worth it at all anymore. There’s also no point whatsoever to even invest points in Illusions because Illusionary Distribution is useless for what you try to achieve and Compounding Power is mainly for shatter builds.

This is too much points for me to answer and i don’t feel like writing a wall of text so you’re right and im wrong. One question tho, do you play much dungeons that isn’t the easiest paths such as TA/up? Because if you were doing high level fractals you would’ve never bring a point such as “take phantasmal desenchanter” when you have 15+ dredges in front of you each with 3+ boons… I’m done lol proving anything here without a youtube video is worthless.

The absolute best i would like iMage to be (especially if it stays with the longest phantasm CD) is make it aoe. Make it so its attack explodes on impact damaging up to 5 foes and set them on fire for 1-2sec. I want something cool and useful like that, i don’t want confusion… So remove the reta given, give it a 25sec CD, aoe explosion with moderate damage (something like iMariner’s damage) and set foes on fire for 2sec. Decrease Prestige CD to 20sec, decrease its stealth to 2sec/its burning to 2sec and and we have an amazing offhand weapon useful for pvp AND pve

3.2 seconds on phantasmal swordsman is “half a century”?
Actually, kill some risen giants and record your kills to prove if a shatter build does more consistent DPS.
Its single target, who cares…. Here’s the beginning of your DPS loss, you run phantasms that attack one target when there’s 5+ in front of you. Why do you even bring a risen giant in this? HE’S ALONE, aoe isn’t even needed, its like doing a 1v1 against another player, phantasm builds are extremely powerful… Now take a mob of dredges in level 48 fractals and show me how fast you’ll be killing them with your or any1’s elses phantasm build. Not only having poor aoe and having your phantasms being destroyed after their initial attack which then let you with blurred frenzy and auto attacks lol but you don’t even have access to boon striping which makes this fight EVEN longer and harder. Again, phantasm build=for 1v1 and other low amount of mobs/player is beast. Shatter=for when you’re attacking tones of ~~~~ and in pve that’s what you’re doing

Sword is the best. Tones of damage, needed evades which also applies very useful poison an leaps from it can be used for healing, evading, running away, mobility and comboed aura’s. Doesn’t get any better than that. The only problem is auto attack rooting.

Its not like you’re not using your phantasms in a shatter build… You still use iZerker to “shred” enemies and deal more aoe damage with shatter instead of waiting half a century for it to re-attack (which they may be dead by then), build might stacks for even more damage and free aoe confusion damage as well. You also have access to IC which increases useful phantasms spam even more often. Its really hard for me to believe how could anyone consider running a phantasm build for dungeons/general pve 11 months after game’s release. No wonder a lot of ppl call mesmers useful only for feedback/TW or say things such as “mesmers have meh DPS in pve”… This is a no brainer and i seriously don’t feel like starting this conversation again because i’ve talked about this months ago. If (which won’t happen cuz its anet) there’s a DPS meter in the near future, remember what some random dude told you on a forum, shatter is MUCH superior for pve.

Okay okay i guess i’ll have to tell you why i think this build sucks… 1) you have Sword MH on both sets. 2) Since phantasm HP increase and sig of illusion significant HP decrease its not worth running EVEN in a pure phantasm build, take Veil for more stealth cheesing, Phatasmal Defender, Mantra of Resolve or even dat sig of domination for the 3sec stun so iDuelists can land all their bleeds/damage. It always depends against who you’re playing against so if its a condi engi/necro mantra of resolve is more useful, if its another mesmer i’d go with Veil and so on.
You have 15 points in Domination~ Dazzling has no use for a phantasm build (especially yours), 10 points is enough. Dueling~ Don’t have Phanta Fury in a build fully focused on phantasms and i also prefer having DE even in a phantasm build so ‘if’ my phantasms are dead from aoe (engi nades for example), i can always hide behind them as a shield for ranged/none piercing attacks, but this is just a preference, you do what you want. I always ran 25 in inspiration like a nab for dat 15% additional phantasm damage when running a phant build (before IC nerf) but its NOT worth it at all anymore. There’s also no point whatsoever to even invest points in Illusions because Illusionary Distribution is useless for what you try to achieve and Compounding Power is mainly for shatter builds.

used shatter but its really useless in pve.
W h a t? What kind of pve do you play, open world exploration and jumping puzzles? Shatter, an aoe damage skills is useless when fighting mobs of enemies but a single target (most phantasms at least) is useful? C’mon now… Shatter builds crushes phantasm builds for pve, especially dungeons.

Take focus as offhand if you want to have sword MH. Pistol has no use in general pve/dungeons because its phantasm is single target and magic bullet does nothing worth mentioning. Focus helps you ballup mobs and iwarden kills them all at once and set tones of bleeds for those who aren’t dead. I would only switch to a pistol when fighting one target such as a boss

You have to remember that iwarden/iduelist are multi hitter=tones of bleeds set on your target and iswordman can only set one stack. Since this is in dungeon’s section, my guess is you’re running a phantasm build in dungeons? Why? Most phantasms are single target and unless you’re fighting a boss, that alone decrease your team dps significantly. They also die extremely fast if its anything like high level fractals and since IC nerf they aren’t spammable enough.
