So about Dusk

Welp, maybe you’ll luck out and get it on your 4th mystic forge combine like me (2x naga fangs, 2x pearl greatswords). Then fail the next 30 combines. I’ve heard horror stories of people getting absolute crap on 400+ mystic forge combines…. holy crap.

Edit: Not defending the price of the Dusk. It should no way be 900g+. But it should also not be cheap. I think it should be around 300g.

Back in EverQuest I enjoyed making money (called “platinum” or plat). I’m not too concerned about it here. The max I’ve ever accumulated on here was around 250 – 300g, with maybe ~90g in mats. Which soon fell victim to my crafting/legendary material buyin. Not much compared to the big boys on here I know!

Inexp players and ressing in dungeons

I’ve done just about every dungeon except for SE (have not done any paths), and only 1 path in ARAH (and even then I’ve only done it once), and I still ask questions when I do every dungeon. Don’t get me wrong, I generally know what I’m doing, but it never hurts to be 100% right then, half kitten it and screw up and wipe the whole group. It’s usually a quick questions like in AC Dretha “whats the kill order again”, or “killing or running?” in TA, etc.

Those kind of questions, in my opinion are fine. If you’re completely new though, you need to be upfront as soon as you join so the group can explain. You need to hang back and only fight what’s targetted/what the group is fighting.

The T6 Mat farm in Orr is basically gone now.

More people seemed to be in Orr when I was there yesterday, and the Risen did seem to drop more varied loot. But I havent been in Orr for about 2 – 3 weeks before the 28th’s patch so my memory of their drop rates is funny. Maybe I will spend more time there.

I’m still a little confused about this diminishing return deal. I’ve never really spent more than an hour or two in 1 spot, but I’ve always liked Orr and have considered spending an evening with a group just running around killing risen all night …. would this bee a bad idea..? Would I start to NOT get drops because I wanted to spend my night there? Can anyone elaborate for me please?

(I’m not talking about just 1 spot like around arah entrance or something, we would crawl around the whole map doing events and slaying everything)

Thanks.

I’m still working on my legendary, I will use gold to buy “most” of the materials I need for my legendary Twilight. I got lucky and made my precursor (Dusk) on my 4th exotic combine in the mystic forge (thank fricken god, saved me like 400g+). Let me tell you something, it will be a lot easier to farm/grind gold.

If you want to take a year to collect every 250 tier 6 material needed to get your legendary, good luck and go for it. By the time you get your twilight, they will have [Avenger’s Twilight of Eternal Legendary Smash Power V3.0] out and you can start all over again with that crap. It is a grind no matter how you look at it.

I started a couple months ago, and a couple weeks ago I had this mindset that I could slowly work my way by colleting mats, that started to get old quick. You wanna know what you gotta do? Farm and grind that gold. Then buy the god kitten mats.

Go do dungeon speed runs, sell lodestones/T6 mats you dont need. Hopefully your server has a healthy population that does Orr, if so run around with the herd and do the events, you can make some decent cash and karma at the same time. (I hate you mystic clovers!!) This is just to make money to get the T6 materials, you still have to actually do the work yourself on your 100% map completion, 500 badges of JUMPING PUZZLE ( nice one anet…), etc.

philosophy on raids?

You all can talk as much crap as you want about old school raiding via WoW and the likes… but GW2 will never touch the feeling you had of 40 guild mates coming together and clearing Molten Core, then finally taking down Ragnaros for the first time. Or having a massive guild in Everquest charge in and engage Innoruuk before another guild got to him first (probably wiping in the process because of trains) hoping someone in your guild got the loot.

Obviously I like GW2 since I’m here, but EQ and WoW helped start it, show some respect to your elders.

Oh… And no to raids, unless it’s some kind of “open world” type of thing where everyone can be included.

Legendaries what needs nerf and what doesn't

I’ve started playing about 2, maybe 2 1/2 months ago, it didnt take very long to get level 80, maybe 1 1/2 weeks if that.

Anyways, when I saw legendaries I knew that getting one was going to be one of my goals, so I started saving up gold, crafting materials, etc. I got /very/ lucky and made my Dusk on my 4th exotic greatsword combine at the mystic forge. If I had to guess I would say I’m about 60% done with gathering everything up. I have 70 mystic clovers, I’m out of obsidian shards, so I need to farm up more karma.

The main things that are making me cringe are..
Powerful blood, 100x onyx lodestone ( ) , 100 icy runestones, 250 globs of ectos, etc…

A few times I’ve made some of the tier 6 crafting materials instead of mystic clovers, so that has helped.

In the end, no legendary will be obtained fast. Some people will get it within a month, maybe even sooner, if they buy gems2gold, which is fine since it’s their money and their playstyle. Others like me will take longer. Maybe in the end I’ll get fed up with the prices and buy some gems myself, who knows :\.

Hell, while we’re at it, let’s just make it so you have to explore and get every way point and POI in every PvE dungeon (CoE, CoF, AC, CM, SE, TA, ARAH, etc) let’s throw in Southsun Cove while we’re at it… screw it, every Fractal zone is in too, why not, it IS part of the world!

Anyways, I’m on the fence about having the PvP zones as a requirement for world completion, but I’d be kitten if anyone can argue against my above statement other than “because my daddy arenanet said so”.

Arg! CoE Laser Grid!

Oatmeal.1895

I did this path last night. Let’s just say our group can be newbie sometimes and gets frustrated easily. I was able to clear the lasers easily, there is a pattern to it. Everyone else in my group had a really hard time, to the point where they were about to rage quit. Luckily two people finally made it (after about 15 minutes).

Like others have said, there is a pattern. The lasers will start their pattern, then stop for a second, this is when you jump in. When they start going again you start jumping, following them. Watch out! There will be lasers behind you! Keep following the lasers in front, they will lead you out to the other side. It is simple enough.

People seem to get confused about trying to fit in between the lasers, this is not the case, get that out of your head!

What is wrong with nudity?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Censorship is kitten backwards in most games. Big cudos to Anet if there is actually nudity in this game, because there is no need or purpose with censoring it.

Most games that censor nudity are highly violent games or games where your type of attacks are probably the most sadistic and cruel ways to kill someone.

-snip-

Your second statement is just not true for the most part. I would say, probably 98% of all games that have nudity in them only have breasts or buttocks. If I had to scale them, I would say a mans kitten and a woman’s kitten are more “vulgar” then breasts. And I am just using this for arguement’s sake, because games that do have nudity in them, for the most part, only have breasts.

But back to your statement. Take Age of Conan for example. You can find bare chests in that game, and it is one of the most violent MMO’s out there. Here’s a shameless bump of a video I did a long time ago showing what the Assassin class can do in AoC:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_rhLUUDSbg

You will literally slit your enemies throats and see buckets of blood spill out. Another move you slip behind your foe and stab your dagger into the back of there SKULL! Leaving it there for a second, then yanking it out just as he begins to fall.

Another game, and this one is old, is Duke Nukem: Time to Kill. However, with this game the only nudity I think is in the intro movie in the strip bar. But the game itself you could blow enemies limbs, heads off etc!

I am very interested in doing this dungeon if you would have me. I’m a level 80 guardian, have full exotics. My primary focus right now was dps/support… I mainly use power/prec/crit damage, but I can switc it up to whatever you would need. I use staff/scepter+focus primarily.

I have done ARAH story mode, so I have been in there, however I know its nothing like the EXP mode. I’ve done CoF, AC, CM, CoE, And a few fractals, so I do have some experience. I listen and follow instructions well and will ask questions when I’m not sure about something.

ARAH is one of the final things on my list to get through, so if you would have me I would appreciate it =).

FPS Drop when Friends/Guild Tab open

Oatmeal.1895

This has happened ever since I have played Guild Wars 2, so about 2 months maybe. Whenever I open up my Friends list in game my FPS will drop to 5 – 7. This also happens “sometimes” when viewing certain (big guilds with a lot of members in them) guilds on the guild tab. My FPS returns to normal after closing these tabs.

Is there a fix outside that I have not found? I tried doing some research and found some posts that suggested updating my Flash, which I have done, but the problem persists.

Anyone else with this problem have any solutions? Thank you.

I see. Same with the mail system? I tried sending some mithril boxes to friends as Christmas presents but after 3 mails it said something about not able to send more. I guess the mail thing makes more sense, but I wish they’d increase it to at least 5, same as a party!

Thanks for the reply!

Error attempting to sell.

Maybe this was discussed in the sticky topic, but it has so many replies it would take forever to go through, and I dont want to necro bump old topics.. but does anyone else get this CONSTANTLY in game? I mean, every time I go and sell more than 10+ different items, it is guaranteed to happen.

For example, lets so I’m leveling a character up by crafting. After getting done with a few tiers (for example again, 75 – 100) and I go to sell my crafted items on the TP, after selling 4 or 5 armors I will start to get “Error attemping to sell.” The ONLY way to get past this is to either spamm the Sell button 20 times, change the sell price down by 1 copper (even tho it will still sell it at the highest profit…??), or exit out of TP and go back in.

This is really frustrating for me, it happens all the time, and has been doing this since I started playing a month and a half or so ago. Another example would be if I’m on my level 80, spend the night rampaging through Orr, and before I go to bed I try to sell my spoils… again, after selling some things on TP this error pops up.

Any suggestions, or am I / we stuck with this until ANet finds a fix?

**Note: I thought maybe it was because the item had only 1 order from 1 person and that person’s order was already recieved. However I notice it happens on just about anything, could be an order for 1 piece of armor, or 1000 orders for mithril ore.

Thank you and sorry for the long post!

TL:DR version: TP constantly gives me “Error attempting to sell.” after selling a few items on it.

Only for level 80's?

Hi all,

I am not bickering, just asking a question. Is the Lost Shores only for level 80 characters? I just started a couple weeks ago and am only level 51, will there be anything I can participate in this event?

(If yes, please explain so I know where to go!)

Thanks!
